• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

WELCOME TO THE SAFARI ROULETTE!

Well-known fact: The Sinnoh Battle Frontier goes of in wild new directions from its Hoenn predecessor, boldly challenging a Trainer's analytical thinking (and Pokemons' strength) like never before.
Slightly less well known fact: The Battle Roulette is undeniably the coolest event at the Sinnoh Battle Frontier (THIS IS A FACT I'M NOT CRAZY IF YOU DISAGREE I REFER YOU TO MR FIST OVER THERE).
Even less well-known event: The Battle Roulette was once tested at the Hoenn Battle Frontier, but since the graphics and audio weren't quite as good, and the mayor of Pacifidlog town kept complaining about the noise, it fell into disrepair. A few weeks ago, a group of trainers on their way to the Hoenn Frontier noticed this old, overgrown, almost-forest where a few lights still flash and things buzz. What's more, the place was overrun by wild Pokemon, attracted to the lights and general atmosphere that comes with a roulette.

The trainers grabbed as many rare Pokemon as they could catch/carry, and proceeded to sweep the Battle Tower. >_<

Since then, it has been bought by the TCoD Safari Zone, and now has some roulette-y gimmicks of its own, harkening back to the days where you couldn't sleep in Pacifidlog and the Corsola were always complaining of seizures. Admission is $6 for the opportunity to catch 6 Pokemon, but before you do, you spin the roulette, and see what happens...
  • The chances of you finding a rare Pokemon are increased!
  • The chance that Pokemon hold items here is doubled!
  • The chance that you find a shiny Pokemon increases!
  • You can catch 9 Pokemon instead of 6 this run!
  • A loud noise scares all the rare Pokemon away...
  • You become so disoriented that you can only tell the rarity and type of a Pokemon, not its species...
  • You will only ever find 1 type of Pokemon this run, sorry...

Also, if you're feeling in a monetary mood, you can pay an additional $2 when you start to scratch one of the roulette choices off of the wheel (but only 1 scratch per run).

~NEW STUFF: 8/22~
Rotom has been sighted in the Safari Roulette! If you are an intrepid rare Pokemon hunter, want to donate to our cause, or owe me money, you can pay an additional $1 at your signup to add an option to the above roulette that increases the chances of you seeing the incredibly rare Rotom!

Here's what the trainers who have visited this area have found (THERE IS DEFINITELY MORE TO BE DISCOVERED, AND THIS LIST WILL BE UPDATED AS MORE PEOPLE FIND POKEMON):

Eh, what the heck. Let's spin up the roulette.

-$6

EDIT: By the way, what does it mean, "scratch one of the roulette choices off of the wheel"?

It means you can eliminate one of the roulette options, increasing your chances of getting your pick.

*DRUMROLL PLEASE......*

The roulette spin landed on...

...SHINY POKEMON CHANCE INCREASE

Congratulations!

With that in mind, you head outside of the building, nearly tripping on a
Smoochum
that was dancing to the music that played while you where spinning the wheel. Catch/Ignore?

Your roulette spin landed on...

...EXTRA SAFARI BALLS GRANTED

Congratulations!

With 9 Safari Balls in hand, you head outside into the half-forest, half-industrial complex that makes up the roulette. A very shy, female
Lombre
is sitting by the base of a tree, looking rather depressed. Catch/Ignore?

The Lombre simply shrugs as it disappears into the Safari Ball. Moving around to the edge of the main building, a
Voltorb
is sitting on a half-demolished slab of concrete, eyeing you shiftily. Catch/Ignore?
Current Party: Lombre(F), 8 Safari Balls

Smoochum in hand, you proceed to exit the building in earnest, locking gaze with a female
Poochyena
who, upon seeing you, pauses the staring contest to chase its own tail. Catch/Ignore?
Current Party: Smoochum(F), 5 Safari Balls

ignoring~

You circle around to the back of the main building, and hear something walking slowly in the grass. Further observation reveals it to be a female
Glameow
who mewls loudly and assumes a defensive posture at your arrival. Catch/Ignore/bleed to death?

Catching :D

That was a scarily quick post. I hereby accuse you of thread stalkery, despite being kinda flattered ~.~

Anyway, with a somewhat grudging Glameow added to your collection, you notice a male
Ralts
who is sensing your joy and skipping out into the clearing (or, it's trying to skip, which is pretty hard for a Ralts). Catch/Ignore?
Current Party: Lombre(F), Glameow(F), 7 Safari Balls

Moving deeper on in to the forest, you nearly have a heart attack when a male
Burmy
falls out of a tree and lands a few inches from your foot. Catch/Ignore/Squish?
Current Party: Lombre(F), Glameow(F), 7 Safari Balls

After nearly suffering from a concussion, you run back towards the building to find a female
Glameow
looking at you with contempt. Possibly a buddy of the other one...Catch/Ignore?

(seriously, the RNG gods hate you right now)
Current Party: Lombre(F), Glameow(F), 7 Safari Balls

Stop being ignorant. It's not a very good color on you~
Moving along...A female
Snubbull
is staring at you from inside the building, squinting through the glare of flashy lights that the roulette has. Catch/Ignore (and give the poor thing a seizure)?
Current Party: Lombre(F), Glameow(F), 7 Safari Balls
