Open Der Weltkrieg, The Kanto-Johto War

Storm Earth and Fire

Would you like to make a contract?
OK, so Kanto and Johto aren't the world. I felt like keeping it simple, but calling it Der Weltkrieg felt oh-so-stylish. Anyway, presenting my tCoD premere:

We're not entirely sure what happened. Just one day, they all dissapeared. Humanity, that is. Everything else stayed, they didn't. Naturally, Pokemon knew not of what to do, at first. Many just returned to the wild, some ran around confused, some mourned. I believe it was 8 or so years after the initial dissapearance that we organized ourselves. At first into traveling gangs, some even managed to operate motorcycles, others bikes. But after 2 years that slowly fell out of favor, and cities were instead organized into functional communities, sharing the remains of humanity's technologies and such. 14 years after the dissapearance, these cities competed for territory, leading to mass skirmishing known as the Route Wars, for the areas primarily fought over. 4 years later, they stopped when a group of altruistic Pokemon managed to get the message out that maybe everyone should cooperate. It didn't quite ring out that way, as only cities within the same region wanted to work together, leading to the formation of 2 large alliances on this landmass comprised of Johto cities and Kanto cities. Now, 20 years after the dissapearance, these 2 fought a large and all-consuming war...

Now, in my corner of the world, Johto, one took power over all. He claimed he could fix everything. He kind of did. Order returned, but that was expected of an alliance of cities. He brought petty crime down, which is nice. He even made the Magnet Train work again, which was a real treat. Except that the war broke out, so it became useless again.

My character:

Name: Bertoldo
Species: Typhosion
Gender: Male
Home: New Bark Town
Side: Johto
Position: Leader of the Johto alliance, though essentially now leader of all Johto
Appearance: Normal physically. He is usually seen with a police officer's hat on his head, and a Footprint Ribbon which was given to him for service during the Route Wars.
Personality: A tall-standing, usually kind, bold, and charismatic leader. He isn't particularly optimistic, but tends to get impatient when it comes to the fighting. He remains somewhat powerhungry, as well.
Background: Born a few years before the dissapearance, Bertoldo was given his name by the eager young boy who chose him from Prof. Elm's lab. Not soon afterward, he dissapeared, as with everyone else. Starting off life as a tough battler, and traveling along with a countryside gang, he found himself in Goldenrod, where he realized it would be far better to settle down, as did many. He fought for Goldenrod in the Route Wars and received a ribbon for his valiant service. With the rise of the large alliances, he rose through the ranks, as he was a popular war hero, and worked to seize power for himself, ruling Johto from the Johto Radio Tower, which is used to broadcast his message. However, he is now often seen at the front-line, leading others into battle.

Name: Gespensti
Species: Ninetales
Gender: Female
Home: Route 8
Side: Kanto
Position: Leader of Kanto alliance
Appearance: Ninetales
Personality: Gespenti is calm and ready to fight, although she doesn't enjoy it.
Background: Gespenti is over 1,000 years old, so her fur shines like gold. She can't remember what her early life was like, however. She has so far yet to meet a male of her kind that she likes. As stated in legend, each of her tails has a mystic power.
Other remarks: Her tails' powers:
1. Becoming with shadow for one hour at a time. This does not stop her from being solid.
2. Vaguely foretelling the future. She has no recollection of doing this, and what she says is extremely difficult to understand.
3. Using her own strength and giving it to others.
She has yet to discover what other powers she has.

Her colors are lighter than the average Miltank's.
Personality: Vanilla is caring and sweet and can't turn a blind eye to a Pokemon on her side.
Background: Vanilla sells MooMoo Milk to Pokemon on her side. She often stays up late at night. Before the humans disappeared, she lived on the farm.
Other remarks: none.

link asked me if I could help run the RPG, so I'll do what I can on the Kanto side. Unfortunately, I was too late to take the top spot :(

Name: Harashi
Species: Scyther
Gender: Male
Home: Was born in Pallet Town. Ancestry from Fuschia.
Side: Kanto
Position: Commander of the Southern Faction Army of Kanto (Includes Fuschia, Pallet, Viridian, and Cinnabar. Was established before Kanto unified, and much of the structure remains), and a top commander in the Greater Kanto Alliance
Age: 12 (Scythers age about 3 times as fast as humans did, so the equivalent is about 36)
Appearance: He looks big and strong for a Scyther, and he has a commanding presence in the way he moves.
Personality: Harashi is ruthless and demanding, believing everything worth doing should be done perfectly and promptly, based upon his ideas of perfection. He is smart and a great tactician and strategist, a tough combination to beat.
Background: (includes some additional history of Kanto)
Harashi was not yet born when the humans disappeared. His grandfather Aranha led the great Scyther swarm at the time, residing mainly in the Safari zone. Soon after the humans stopped 'visiting', Aranha led his pack out into the city of Fuschia, quickly laying claim to it and adjusting its infrastructure for the swarm's uses. About 10 years into the settlement, however, Aranha fell into poor health, and his son, Harashi's father, Coren took over. Coren was an aggressive leader, and wished to expand his domain. The east was sparsely populated but did contain natural resources, so it was the first, easy target. However, spreading north became a great hurdle. Instead, Coren chose to first cross the bay and invade the town of Pallet first and use it as a base to spread in the southwest. Viridian was probably the swarm's greatest success story, and the two-year war ended up unifying southern Kanto under his rule. Cinnabar proved too small and isolated, but a treaty basically allowed Cinnabar to keep control of its domestic affairs, while trade and foreign affairs went through the southern faction. The next struggle, however, was not as effective. The northeast itself had unified, based in Saffron, and the main war in the Route Wars in Kanto was just about to begin. Coren made attempts to attack from all sides, targeting Pewter, Celadon, and Vermilion. Pewter was an outcast, fringe city at the time, and really proved too much of a hassle for either group, so it pretty much remained in the hands of the powerful, savage mountain creatures from Indigo. Celadon and Vermilion proved too close to the center of Saffron and the northeast's more-established trade routes, and ended in humiliating defeats. In addition, Coren himself was killed in the battle for Celadon. Command of the Southern Faction ended up falling to Harashi, and the resulting chaos practically crippled their war effort. Harashi ended up signing peace with the leader of the north, and the two groups turned their attention to a growing threat from the west, Johto.

Name: Sling
Species: Yanma
Gender: Male
Home: He is always moving, so he doesn't really have a home, but he was born outside of Dark Cave.
Side: Johto because Johto is made of awesomeness and awesomesauce
Position: Trader Merchant
Appearance: Sling looks like a normal Yanma Yanma except his eyes are blue instead of green.
Personality: Sling is incredibly up-beat. He can tend to be a little obnoxious. Sling is usually very timid.
Background: Sling loves to explore, so he is always flying throughout Johto with his own "trading" shop. He always collects rare items and stops in various towns to trade them in. His business is very popular and successful.
Other remarks: He has an shop assistant, a Pidgeot named Aerial.

Name: Lee ; General Lee of the Federation
Species: Slowbro
Gender: Male
Home: The Federation of Whirl Islands
Side: Johto (though neutral in practice)
Position: Secretary-General of the Federation of Whirl Islands
Appearance: An old slowbro, he has bags underneath his eyes. A side effect of him constantly being up and about, instead of being a normal slowbro and just being lazy.
Personality: Lee is a soft spoken man. Although a war veteran of the Route Wars, he much rather would prefer to have some tea and discuss manners than fight. He can be more accurately be described as an observor of the world than a participant. His close friends (or rather those who speak to him outside the council meetings) say that his becoming increasingly isolated and antisocial.
Background: Lee was born a slowpoke in the then town of Azalea. Through a series of captures, trades, and finally abandonment he reached the Whirl Islands which he made his home. When the humans disappeared he originally didn’t notice. No one in the Whirl Islands. After all only shipwrecked humans and extreme swimming enthusiasts ever went to the islands due to there infamous whirlpools. For the most part nothing of importance occurred. Until the wars…

The Whirl Islands were smack dab in the middle of the Olivine - Cianwood Wars [Part of the Route Wars], and became the main theatre of the wars. It was not until recently that the whirl islands were freed thanks to the creation of the Kanto and Johto power blocs. Needless to stay the pokemon in the Whirl Islands were bitter to join either side, and announced there declaration of independence and neutrality between the two sides. Lee who had become a war hero for protecting countless poke-residents of the Whirls was elected the first Secretary-General of the Federation and has maintained his office ever since.

Name:Xhan
Species:Lucario
Gender:Male
Home:It used to be Iron Island, but now it's Mt. Moon.
Side:Kanto
Position:Soldier(Is that okay? If he was a human rank, he'd be a Sergeant.)
Appearance:He appears to be a normal Lucario, excpt for his black Pecha Scarf.(Black looks better, and he fools his enemies with it. And no one likes to be poisoned.)
Personality:He gnerally dosen't have a sense of humor, and would rather be in battles ending the war rather than sitting around doing other things. He's also a little overconfident in his fighting skills. But, should a friend of his be in trouble, he'll help without a second thought.
Background:He lived on Iron Island until the humans disappeared. Then he stole a boat and took a joyride to Kanto. He found Mt .Moon, and loved it more than Iron Island. He fought in the Route Wars to keep Mt. Moon, and became an incredibly strong fighter.
Other remarks:(If I can't be a soldier for some reason, I'll just be a civilian.)Xhan likes pie. Pecan pie is his favorite.^_^

Of course you can be a soldier, otherwise it'd be a pretty lame RP, though it might be lame to be just an ordinary soldier. Accepted.

Sakka is in.

Personality: Friendly and brave, would sacrafice himself to defend Kanto.
Background: His parent's left him in Mt. Moon for his own protection, and since he guarded it with his life, people came to know him as Moon. He wonders what happened to his family and will rest easily once he knows.
Other remarks: His parents' names are Dark and Light, in case they ever come in...

Yes, you can guard said area, accepted. With that, we can start now.

It was a nice day outside. Bertoldo watched as the final preparations were being completed to bring back the magnet train. Since the conflict started, the power from the Kanto power plant had been cut. But after some tinkering, they all figured a steam of electricity from a Pokemon might power it. An Electabuzz stood nearby with wires running to the track. "Let's go!", Bertoldo shouted. Electricity was run through the wires. The train came to life, levitating an inch off the track. Success. Now it would be a simple matter to go to Saffron. Everybody nearby smiled.

Sling finally landed in Goldenrod. Aerial landed next to him.

"What a great morning!" Sling said happily. Aerial nodded in agreement. "Okay, Aerial, we're going to set up shop near the Magnet Train; I'm sure some of the warriors can use some of our stuff!"

"You're saying that they could use teacups?" Aerial said skeptically. Sling chuckled. Aerial giggled.

"Well, let's head over to the Magnet Train then!" Sling said, grabbing a bag of merchandise.

Vanilla was organising the bottles on her three shelves. She grabbed the third bottle from the right on her bottom shelf, and shook it. Deciding it wasn't good anymore, she tossed it. She did the same with the two bottles to the right of it. After all, MooMoo Milk was only good when it was fresh. Luckily the weather here was cold; otherwise, the milk wouldn't be suitable for selling.

Sling landed near the Magnet Station in the middle of a street and laid out a blanket. "Are you ready Aerial?" Sling asked excitedly. Goldenrod was always a great trading post.

"You bet! Now let's set everything out," Aerial answered.

Against my better judgement, I'm signing up for yet another roleplay, no offense to this one.
Name: Casri
Species: Skarmory
Gender: Male
Home: Route 23, just outside Silver Cave.
Side: None; Casri considers his faction to be an independent group of its own.
Position: Kasaro(leader) of the pokemon of Indigo and the nearby routes.
Appearance: His neck feathers are red, but otherwise looks very much like a normal Skarmory.
Personality:Casri appears polite and curt, if somewhat abrupt, but on the inside he is calculating and cunning, exploiting nearly any opportunities he gets-but only on those outside of his faction.
Background: Casri was born in the lesser mountians near Mt. Silver, and grew up near Victory Road, joining the side of the pokemon of Indigo soon after his parents died. He helped to defend Pewter when the forces of South Kanto attacked, but soon seized leadership during the confusion of the old leader's suspicious death, and has been in power for some twenty months. Recently, he has been forced to temporarily concede the western side of Tohjo Falls after a long and bloody struggle.
Other remarks: His faction controls Indigo Plateau and all of the routes south of it, as well as the eastern portion of Tohjo Falls and the Route next to it, as well as Pewter City. He has plans to sign peace and neutrality deals with Kanto, and Johto after that. Nobody really knows why he's doing this or his true intentions surrounding these treaties.

Note:Will edit later, I'm tight for time.

Bertoldo heard something outside. He headed out to see what was going on. He noticed a Yanma laying out a blanket, with verious goods. Bertoldo walked up, "Hello there, citizen. What have you got there?"

Sling and Aerial stared at the Typhlosion. How did he not about the Traveling Traders?

"We're the travelling traders," Sling said. "We move from town to town in Johto and set up stands to trade goods. We're quite successful." Aerial nodded in agreement.
