Right, so my dad was going to be spending the weekend on one of Dirt Rag's (a mountain bike forum) get together rides somewhere in western Pennsylvania, I'm not sure where, exactly. Well apparently, he hit and unexpected rock, root, or something along those lines and went over the handlebars. He's fairly sure his nose is broken, and a stick is jammed in right above his eye. Fortunately, a CAT scan showed that his eye is intact, and he's having surgery to get the stick removed tonight.

In a few minutes, my grandma is coming to pick us up (he took the car with him), so we can go pick him up, and get the car re-packed and take it home. Now, the thing that's bothering me is, they don't know if the surgery will be very simple or if it could be more serious... I'm hoping for the former.

D: Stick right above the eye? Ouch. Well, I hope that, if it is more serious, that it would only mean that he would lose some vision in the eye. After all, if it is more serious, then that could mean anything from that to... Well...

I wish you and him the best of luck

That sounds bad... and this may sound a bit nasty, but...

Relax :) A simple (Or not-so-simple) Eye injury is not likely to affect the rest of the body. The worst that could happen is that he might lose his vision in that eye, or part of it, As Iscalasari said. Unless the stick went a bit too deep, which is very unlikely...

Oh god, I feel so horrible now I've said that actually...

Anyway, I'm sure it'll all be fine. :)

God, that's terrible D:
I really hope that everything goes well and he has a speedy, uncomplicated recovery and everything, especially sugery, goes well.

Ick. That's not good. I hope the surgery goes well and that your dad has a speedy recovery!

Thanks guys. I got to talk with him on the phone, and apparently the stick went under his eye, not over it though, and it tore a hole in his sinus. He also didn't actually break his nose, but he did break one of the ones in his thigh.

Fortunately, the surgery was fairly simple and went well, and he's at home now. He might have to see a specialist in Cleveland in a week or so, I'm not sure why, but hey, at least he's okay. :)

That's really good news; especially now he's home :3
What's his predicted recovery time? Femur fractures are horrible x.x

I would hope he wasn't blind in one eye. But since you've said there was no damage to actually eye, I guess that won't happen.

Sorry all of this happened. :[

Tell him I said hi.

I don't know, I'll ask him when I actually go home.

That'd be really bad, actually, seeing as driving is half of his job. D:
