Need suggestions for first AMV

I am planning on making my first AMV EVER!
Not entirely sure where this thread would go, though.

Anyways, I've been rewatching Digimon Tamers and listening to the new Disturbed album, and want to make an AMV, probably involving Impmon/Beelzemon, and a song off the album.
I think the song "The Animal" suits him best, especially when he's Beelzemon but before he turns good.

What free program should I use?

I have Windows Vista, and want the video to be easy to make.

Any advice?

Windows Movie Maker? It's simple, and basic, but it did for me. You actually have it on your computer already, if you have Windows Vista. Most people hate it and rip it to shreds, but my Kingdom Hearts AMVs (to which my signature links) were all WMM. It can be done. Sony Vegas is great, an incredible piece of software. Unfortunately, it's $800 or so. I think, I could be wrong, but it's way too much in any case. You could use Keygen I suppose, but I've never done it.

The thing with AMVs is that they get easier as you go on. It's an awesome skill to have. Good luck!

LS99: AMV stands for Anime Music Video.
Coroxn: Erm...Sony Vegas costs like $40, I have to idea where you got $800 from o.O unless you talking about Pro, which is around $600, but you really don't need Pro unless you're a professional movie maker or something.

I don't know of many free movie programs that would let you make decent-quality AMVs. There probably are some, I just don't know of any.

If you absolutely need a FREE program, then you should really just stick Windows Movie Maker, especially for your first AMV. It's easy to use, though its options are rather limited.

However, if you're really serious about making AMVs, then you should probably invest some money into a better program. Sony Vegas doesn't cost a whole lot of money (I believe it's around $40), and although the learning curve for using it is quite steep, with a little practice you can make some pretty good quality videos with it.

When you actually go to make the AMV: Don't be afraid to add effects, just don't overdo it. A good music video flows well with the music: With faster songs, the clips transition faster, and the opposite goes for slower songs. Make sure the lyrics of the songs fit with the clips you're using.

I don't know anything about Digimon or Disturbed, so I can't really give you advice on what clips/songs to use.

edit: I almost forgot! Make sure the clips you use are at least decent quality! No matter how good the editing is, it won't look good if you use terrible quality clips.

Good luck!
