The Firebird Suite [Open]

Coloursfall

THIS IS HOW WE BLEED
The Phoenix, King of Birds.

firebirdbanner.png

Long believed to be nothing more than myth and legend, the creature used as a symbol and story. But little do the animals of the world know, he exists. A handful of birds around the world know of the existence and location of this powerful spirit of fire, who sleeps in the ashes of an ancient ruin. The bird is said to be a powerful spirit of both Destruction and Rebirth, the protector of some hidden balance. If one were to capture the firebird and use him for their own ends, then the balance could shift, casting everything nature holds dear into a fiery ruin. But a bird would never go against their own kind, would they?

Unfortunately, one of these Phoenix Keeper birds has turned traitor. Now, it is up to the birds of a California bird sanctuary and zoo, where one of the other Phoenix Keepers lives, to save him. But first they will have to decipher the clues the Phoenix Keepers are given to the Phoenix's location, before the traitor does...

Rules:

-Obligitory RP 101 link
-Your birds should be both real and not extinct. A link to Wikipedia or other source may help if your bird is obscure. Endangered birds are ok but I may prevent them from being used if we get too many.
-Since this was inspired by an animated movie (Rio), Feather Fingers are expected, but not too much - mostly just emoting or holding a small object once and a while. But use your feet or beak more for this!
-You may have two characters at most.
-Make sure everything in the form is spaced correctly and bolded, as I will demonstrate in the form itself.

Form:

Name: probably just a first and nickname, but more is alright.
Species: What sort of bird are you? Providing links is good.
Gender:

Appearance: Featherdoos and slightly different colourization are okay. Little bits of jewellery like legbands are too, as long as you have a reason for them, and they don't get in the way.

Biography: Doesn't need to be too in-depth, but at least touch on why they would be at the sanctuary and interested in the Phoenix.

Personality: Mostly PO is okay but you have to give a few words at least.

Other: If you can't think of anything to put here, have fun with it; Voice actors, theme songs, whatever!

Name: Kiara
Species: What sort of bird are you? Providing links is good.
Gender: Female

Yay, birds :3 I love how you make a header drawing for RPs, btw.

Just a quick question; birds of prey? Birds of prey aren't a good idea if they eat other birds, right?

Birds of prey are okay! Unless they only eat other birds. That could be a problem. But like. Owls and hawks and stuff are fine.

Name: Iris
Species: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasian_Eagle-Owl
Gender: Female
Appearance: She is slightly larger than normal, and her plumage, instead of being off-white dappled with dull brown, instead bears richer golden tones and near-black, glossy brown dapples. She's quite graceful in the air.

Biography: Iris was born in a thick, thriving coniferous forest in Washington. She was raised well with her several assorted siblings. However, a horrible forest fire ravaged her home and left her the sole survivor amongst her family members. From this, she gained a great respect, fascination, and fear of fire. She left the forest behind, barely mature enough to make it on her own, and made her new home in an arid desert area near the border of Arizona and California. She struggled desperately to survive in the fierce, unwelcoming environment, but eventually found her niche. She was just beginning to thrive in her new environment when a massive storm struck the area and, not expecting the weather, she was caught in it. It blew her away from her new home and eventually found her with a broken wing and several lost feathers, stranded and injured in a public park. She was found by locals, who decided that sending her to the sanctuary, where she would get proper medical care and attention, was the best option. She was then healed there and has lived there ever since. She doesn't really care much about the fate of the world or bird-kind; rather, she seeks the Phoenix because she wishes to know how he controls fire, how he tames the monstrous element that she is so enchanted by.

Personality: She's a fairly kind owl, though a bit apathetic and sometimes unintentionally rude. She doesn't really understand other birds very well, but she is extremely intelligent in matters of hunting, battle, weather patterns, and navigation. She strongly dislikes hatchlings and other young birds, simply because they aren't quite at her intelligence and maturity level. She enjoys spending time alone, tracing the constellations and dreaming of the forest where she grew up.

Other: For her voice, I can't name an actor; just think of a kind of rich, husky voice, sort of deep. She has a deep fascination with snakes and fire.

PO is played out. You basiclly create your characters personalit as you go along. (however, you still have to give an overall persnality that doesnt need much detail.)

Name: Tsuil (Tsu)
Species: Senegal parrot.
Gender: Male
Appearance: Tsuil has slightly longer feathers on his head, giving him a more fluffy appearance than the standard Senegal parrot. His vision is slightly worse in his left eye due to a cataract, and so this eye has a small white spot in it.

Biography: Tsuil is interested in the Phoenix not because he is arrogant and wants to shift the balance of nature, but because he doesn't want it to get into the wrong hands... or wings. He believes that if he lets someone he doesn't know have it, bad things in nature could happen, and it could endanger the lives of many birds.

Tsuil was an illegally-caught wild Senegal parrot originally meant to be kept as a pet, but when he reached California there was an incident with his cage packaging and he escaped into the streets. Of course, he would not have survived in the streets had not someone captured him and found him a home at first a temporary exotic animal hospital and then the sanctuary. At the sanctuary, Tsuil lives with a collection of other parrots, and so can stand quite a bit of noise. He does like to watch the humans move through, though.

Personality: Tsuil tends to be rather quiet and contemplated. He will speak when spoken to but tends not to start gigantic conversations. He is constantly asking questions and playing devil's advocate, although he means well. Though he seems a bit serious on the outside, on the inside he is concerned for the safety of birds. He feels connected to every other bird alive, being a bird himself, and so Tsuil can get aggressive when only slightly angered. He has a bit of a short fuse and can appear mean and antisocial, but Tsuil really is concerned; he just is afraid of risking his life.

Other: Theme songs... I'll have to think about this for a while to find a serious one, but one I can get off the top of my head is the Vocaloid song titled "Hayate." I'll keep thinking about it, though. And I'll come up with a voice actor too!

Name: Jake
Species: Bald Eagle
Gender: Male

Appearance: He's pretty average for a Bald Eagle, though the feathers on his head are quite fluffy and don't like to lie flat. On his left leg is a tag with a small flower etched onto it, a symbol of the sanctuary he originally came from.

Biography: He was taken into a bird sanctuary in Kansas after being found as a juvenile, shut away in a room in the house of an unlicensed keeper. Whoever had taken him in had abandoned him, and he was very thin when found. That sanctuary since nursed him back to health, but he was found unfit for reintroduction into the wild. Sadly, it soon had to be shut down due to a storm destroying the premises, and Jake and the other birds were shipped to sanctuaries all over the country, with Jake ending up in California. His interest in the Phoenix springs from his natural love of stories, and he wants to see one for himself.

Personality: Despite his eternally-harsh expression, he's a gentle and sweet bird, if jumpy and nervous. He tends to have his head in the clouds and easily gets lost in his own mind when thinking about things. He has a penchant for stories and legends.

Other: Remember Columbus from Zombieland? That guy. (Also, oddly enough, Blu from Rio)

...Oh, um.

You're going to have to go into a LOT more detail, the both of you (JinxElite and Dark Koala. Moai and Sunflower, you're fine!). And you have the form requirements wrong. Try again, if you please.

here I'll use mine as en example.

Name: Lukas
Species: Sun Parakeet
Gender: Male

Appearance: [link] Lukas is a relatively small specimen of his kind, only about ten inches long. But he's just has brightly coloured and fast-moving, his plumage a vivid burst of colour on nearly any backdrop. His head is mostly yellow, as is his main body, but his belly and a 'mask' on his face are a brilliant orange, and his wings and tail are green with splashes of blue. His beak is rather large and very strong, and both it and his feet are dark grey. His eyes are a lighter grey. He has a bit of a tuft of feathers on his forehead.

Biography: Lukas was bred in an illegal pet ring, but he doesn't remember that - he was still in his egg when the birds were rescued, and hatched on-site at the sanctuary. He grew up with the other sanctuary birds, and quickly found a friend - a slightly-older red-crowned Crane. The two were very close their entire lives, the best of friends. He also knows the Phoenix Keeper, and seeks the Phoenix to help his friend.

Personality: Lukas is very bright and cheerful, and quite outgoing. He likes to sing, eat, and play, but he's also a very intelligent bird, and can open locks and doors with his beak, manipulate tools, and imitate human voices. He is loyal almost to fault, and trusts easily. His anger is hard to draw out, and mostly results in sullen behaviour from the bird.

Other: :D he has a VA but that's a a secret.

aaaaaa-

Reserve a place for a Red Crowned Crane and a Raven please. I'll get these in when I take a break from nano

Okay!

Name: Sobelle
Species: Indigo-banded Kingfisher
Gender: Female

Appearance: A brilliant blue kingfisher, with an orangey-red beak and feet. Sobelle has a bright yellow feather tuft sticking out from each side of her head, and feathers the same colour on her chest. She's not a very big bird, at about five inches long. Her beak seems oversized compared to the rest of her body, at about an inch long. There’s a small metal band around her left foot with a tiny ‘8542’ scratched into it, from her time at the zoo in the Philippines.

Biography: Sobelle came from the same zoo as Iisang, but was traded to the California sanctuary in exchange for a pair of tree-kingfishers. She arrived a few years before Iisang. She wants to find the Phoenix because she wants to know if it really does exist.

Personality: Appears to be very quiet, but her mind works furiously. Details are recorded or noted, and just as quickly discarded if they're not of importance. At other times, Sobelle has her head lost in the clouds, so to speak. Her mind is always working, whether she's focused on the tasks at hand or not. Sobelle is optimistic and upbeat, though when faced with a problem she's prone to run away from it or overthink it.

Other: Nothing of note.

Name: Iisang
Species: Philippine Eagle
Gender: Male

Appearance: Iisang is a rather large adult Philippine Eagle; at three feet long he's on the heavy side of the scale. The crest on the back of his head is lighter than typical, and the feathers are often puffed up in a manner reminiscent of a human's messy morning hair. The tips of these feathers curl upwards slightly. Iisang is mostly white with dark brown wing and tail feathers. His beak and claws are dark grey, though his legs are a white-ish yellow. The grey colouring of his beak is shared by the feathers of his face. He has large yellow eyes and a powerful grip. There’s a thin metal band around his left talon, with ‘10968’ scratched into it, from his time at the zoo in the Philippines.

Biography: A Philippine Eagle who was born captive as part of a breeding project in the Philippines, and moved to the California sanctuary when flooding threatened his previous zoo. The keepers call him Pitri. Recently, he remembered why Sobelle looked familiar, and it was because she was a member of a species he was fed often. Iisang can't go near her without feeling awkward. He doesn't really have a burning desire to find the Phoenix and believes it might help him get back home. He just wants to get home, as he doesn't understand why he was moved to this new place.

Personality: Iisang seems to always be stressed out. His feathers are always ruffled about something, or he has something deep (ha) on his mind, or he's trying to figure out what the other birds are thinking about. He can be somewhat pleasant to be around on a good day, or when he begins to enjoy himself. Iisang is more social than the typical Philippine Eagle, though he still keeps to himself if he can.

Other: His name is Tagalog for 'by himself', roughly.

And I don't really know any voice actors, so :V Also I completely didn't know before that Indigo-banded kingfishers came from the Philippines, and I had two Filipino birds! You learn something new every day.

Reserving for now.

Name: Miller
Species: Secretary bird
Gender: Male

Appearance: Nothing out of ordinary.

Biography:
Miller was born in captivity, a fact that he did for the longest time not understand. He could not grasp the purpose of the zoo in which he lived and he could much less understand in own purpose in the place, and it drove him mad.
That is to say, until a school class came by his cage. Seeing the children of man made him realize the purpose of the zoo, learning. And soon, he realized what was his own purpose, too.
After this, Miller declared himself a keeper of knowledge, one that would learn all that was available to him. So when he heard of the phoenix, he was obviously interested.

Personality:
Miller is cynical and has a long-running sarcastic streak. It's easy to mistake his negative attitude for rudeness, which is not the case. While he is snarky, he never says anything with the purpose of hurting another, but rather to entertain himself. As a matter of fact, Miller uses his cynical professionalism as a way to assure himself of his own self worth.

Other: Imagine him having the voice of David Tennant for instant amazing.
