D/P/Pt Quick question about friend codes/pal pad

spaekle

emotionless and cold as ice
Okay, I see people all the time who offer just their friend code and not their player name to other people. Does this mean that as long as the friend code is right, it doesn't matter what you put for the person's name?

Might be a stupid question, but it's kind of annoying when I don't know what to fill out for 'name'. D:

The name doesn't matter. At all.

Think about this. "Dawn" is one of the default player names. Understandably, thousands of people (myself included) have picked that name. Now... if I tell you that my name is "Dawn", what does that do to differentiate me from some other FC acquaintance of yours with the same name? Absolutely nothing. It would be incredibly confusing for the name to be a factor; all that matters is the friend code. The name feature only exists so that you can assign a meaningful name to each FC. If my ingame name is "Dawn" and, say, Dannichu's ingame name is "Dawn", you'd get confused if you saw us both listed under that name; wouldn't it be easier to figure out who you're looking at if you call us "Kratos" and "Danni" instead, regardless of what we chose ingame? That way you'd know for sure which "Dawn" you were dealing with, especially if we both happen to be online at the same time or whatever.

Quite frankly, I get annoyed when people continually ask me for my name. It's a real pet peeve of mine. It's a stupid one, yes, but I swear to god the next person that asks me that is going to get a boot to the head.

Ah, okay. It would be confusing to have a bunch of 'Dawn's on your pal pad, and I didn't even think about that.

Thanks. :P
