Open The Great Flood (AKA another Zelda RPG.)

Vriska Serket

Yeah!!!!!!!!
Since the last one's pretty much dead. :/

It's been about fifty years since the Hero of Time sealed Ganondorf away with the Master Sword under the waves, yet not all is peaceful. The sea level has been rising rapidly for the past few years, and is showing no signs of stopping. Most of the islands have already been swallowed up by the sea, and only a small part of the tallest of them still remains above the water. The current state of the islands is as such:

Windfall Island - This island was quickly reduced to the mere tip of a windmill and the residents of it were forced to flee. Some decided to come back some time later, perhaps out of stubbornness to leave their old home or because they thought the remains of the windmill could be turned into a waterwheel for a good source of energy, and built a new town out of metal on top of the water. This island is mostly home to Hylians, but several members of the other races are here, too. Only the rich can live here, though. The island's name was changed to Windfell Island, out of the common hatred of the gods that began at the start of the flood.

Tower of Gods - Though the tower still stands high above the water, it is completely flooded and has waterfalls running down all sides. This leads many to believe that it is the source of the flood, and it is likely this thought that has led people to lose faith in the gods.

Dragon Roost Isle - Though the sandy shores and lower cliffs were swallowed up, the main volcano still stands high above the water. Valoo, the dragon living at the top, seems to be getting rather nervous and even violent sometimes.

Greatfish Isle - It was broken in to several pieces when Ganondorf was around, but after he was sealed away the pieces fused back together to create a livable island. This island was clearly not tethered to the seafloor as previously thought, because it started floating up like a dead fish as the water level rose. The Zora live in underwater caverns below it, thought to have been extinct for a long time. The part of it that's above water is thought of as a last refuge for those not wealthy enough to afford to live on Windfell Isle. It's constantly plagued by sickness and starvation, but it's still better than drowning.

Outset Isle - Only the trees on the very top of the isle managed to survive the flood, and the island has been renamed the Fairy's Forest. The Minish are rumored to live here.

Mother and Child Isles - Renamed the Weeping Mother's Isle after the "Child" island was swallowed up by the sea. The Fairies live here, under the protection of the Great Fairy Queen. Nobody is sure how long the island's outer wall will keep the rising water at bay.

Forest Haven - The branches of the Forest Haven's trees and the thorns of the Forbidden Forest still stick out above the water, but the Great Deku Tree was unfortunately unable to escape the rising water and was killed. Almost every living Korok stubbornly remains to live in these branches, refusing to desert the Great Deku Tree.

Forsaken Fortress - The tips of some ships and the main stone tower still stick out above the water. It's completely deserted, and almost nobody cares to explore it.

Ice Ring Isle - This icy isle continued freezing up to the surface alongside the rising water, and now extends hundreds of feet below the water. Several adventurers went to explore the isle hoping to find a supposed "great treasure" and never came back. Many Stalfos inhabit this isle, thought to be the remains of those adventurers.

Fire Mountain - Several eruptions as the flood started engulfing it created an immense mostly underwater stone cavern, and the island was renamed the Stone Castle. Inhabitants of Windfell Isle come here to mine for the alloys needed to continue building the island, and have tried to build several walls around it to keep out the floodwater. Rumors exist about rare gems being near the bottom, but only idiots have actually tried to brave the heat to find them.

The Great Glob - Not so much an island as a ball of goo, it was created when the flood swallowed up Pawprint Isle and the hundreds of ChuChus inhabiting it floated to the surface and quickly started multiplying, literally covering the ocean surface in goo. They attack everything that moves, and it is widely thought of as the most dangerous spot to sail on the Great Sea. And they don't limit themselves to just that spot, either. The Great Glob is constantly getting larger, and the ChuChus have started terrorizing the inhabitants of Windfell Isle and Dragon Roost Isle, too. Never been afraid of these cute harmless slimeheads before? You will be.

Sea Chart.

Some people aren't quite ready to give up and let the flood swallow them, though. Some hope to find new lands safe from the flood, beyond the edges of the map. Some are more ambitious, though, and hope to find a way to stop the flood or even reverse it. Others still are content with sailing on the sea for the rest of their lives, being a pirate. You've recently acquired a ship, and are ready to leave your home island. It's time for you to make your choice.

Races:

Hylian - The only human race here, most Hylians either live on Windfell Isle if they're rich or Greatfish Isle if they're poor. They tend to wear "normal clothing" -shirts, jeans, dresses, whatever.

Advantages - Good with tools and weapons, can swim for a moderately long time, fairly intelligent.

Disadvantages - Quite vulnerable, can't stay in extreme temperatures for long, easily prone to disease.

Korok - These tree sapling-like creatures have been stubbornly staying in the branches of the Great Deku Tree, not wanting to abandon it. And they aren't exactly friendly when one of the other Koroks decides to leave, either. They all wear a mask on their face made out of a single leaf, though the kind of leaf used varies from Korok to Korok.

Advantages - Can use spells by singing magic songs, can fly for quite a while on their propeller-like Deku Leaves.

Disadvantages - Weak to fire, can't stay in the ocean for extended periods of time or they'll swell as they soak up water, can't hold weapons, cannonballs, etc. due to not having fingers.

Goron - Almost all of these rocky mountain creatures are merchants and can be found all over the Great Sea. They typically wear a shirt, a sun hat, and an enormous bag with several valuable trading items in it on their back.

Advantages - The strongest race of all in terms of strength, live for hundreds of years, can survive extremely high temperatures to the point of walking on magma.

Disadvantages - Can't swim, not exactly the wisest unless they happen to be very old.

Zora - Humanoid creatures with fish-like scales and gills, they live in underwater caverns beneath Greatfish Isle. They usually don't wear anything, apart from the occasional armor, necklace, or earring. They were thought to have evolved into Rito, and though several moved to land after the original flood and developed wings and feathers, many remained underwater and did not evolve. Not many people have realized this.

Advantages - Can swim in and stay under water indefinitely, quite nimble and lightweight.

Disadvantages - Cannot stay in cold temperatures for long.

Rito - Evolved from the Zora that decided to live on land, these humanoid creatures with bird - like feathers and wings (the wings only growing in behind their hands after they've obtained a scale from Valoo and have reached adulthood) live on Dragon Roost Island. They've been suffering near economic collapse recently because the flood has pretty much put their postal service out of business, and Valoo's sudden violence has made it difficult for young Rito to reach adulthood.

Advantages - Can fly if their wings have grown in, quite nimble and lightweight.

Disadvantages - Have been known to lose their temper easily.

Minish - Ant-sized creatures who tend to wear robes that live in the Fairy's Forest. They're capable of brewing magic potions and casting some spells.

Advantages - Can brew magic potions and cast spells - if they have the right ingredients, that is. Can sneak around easily and slip through small cracks in a ship.

Disadvantages - Can be trampled on easily, can't swim for long, can only hold tiny, near-useless weapons.

Stalfos - These ghostly skeletons live in Ice Ring Isle and wear all manner of tattered and ruined clothing. Most were unable to rest because they wanted to reverse the flood and prevent other foolish adventurers from sharing their fate. Though they're immortal, they're quite brittle and can be smashed to pieces and rendered useless fairly easily.

Finally, the form:

Race:

Ship Name:
Ship Description:
History: (Be sure to include how you got your ship and what you're intending to do with it!)

Mine:

Name: Starr.
Gender: Male.
Race: Minish.
Appearance: He has a blue robe and a purple and gray striped hat, and jet-black hair that barely sticks out the back of it. His face can look ragged and old at times, despite the fact that he's fairly young in Minish terms.
Personality: He's impatient and tends to be rude to everyone around him without knowing it. Or not caring, it's hard to tell. He can be friendly around those who he trusts, but that's not exactly saying much.
Ship Name: The Rising Gale.
Ship Description: Being made to occupy a single Minish, it's not exactly a large ship. It's controlled with magic and wasn't built for fighting, and thus doesn't have a steering wheel or cannons, either. It's not so much a ship as a few planks of wood.
History: Starr's sister, Sparkle, fell over one of the many cliffs on the island when a strong wind pushed her, and though he looked hard, he couldn't find her. He believes that, somehow, if he can reverse the flood, he'll be able to find her. He started building his "ship" that day, and today, several months later, it's finished. It's held together with nothing but magic, so the moment he stops concentrating on it, it'll break apart. That's okay, though, since he intends to acquire a new ship at the first stop on his journey, Windfell Isle.

Name: Ruka
Gender: Female
Race: Zora (Come on you should know this by now ಠ_ಠ)
Appearance: Your average Zora, unless you count the fact that the fins on her arms are a deep azure blue instead of silvery like most of the rest of her body.
Personality: In short, a romanticist. She loves the idea of love on the open sea. The rising floodwaters really didn't affect her much, being someone who basically spends two thirds of her time in the water on an average day. But she is saddened by seeing the Hylians and other races starving on Greatfish Isle, and hopes that finding a way to lower the waters will give them a chance to live healthily again.
Ship Name: The Silver Scale
Ship Description: A small wooden ship built for one, and painted in shades of gray, silver and white. Not built for fighting so much as traveling, but DOES have a single cannon.
History: Having lived on (well, under) Greatfish Isle for most of her sixteen years of life, she's desired to travel for a long time. But upon her first visit to the top of Greatfish (she'd been up before but never really bothered to look on land), she saw the sick, starving and dying and it pulled at her heartstrings, having never bothered to look at the land before now, before the floodwaters got this high. Despite her family's urgings not to go, she merely swam away to begin her journey with unspecified reasons. The real reason was that she wanted to help the poor people who'd lost their homes, and to see how the rest of the Great Sea used to look.

It was some time during travel toward the Fairy's Forest that she came across the Silver Scale. As she called out to the ship for an answer, there came none, and as she climbed on board, the first thing she saw was an emaciated young man, on the floor with flies swarming him. He was still just barely alive when Ruka found him, but before she could say anything he had passed. She gave him a proper burial at sea and took the vessel for herself.

Hooray! I'll try to be more active in this one...

Name: Nemik
Gender: Male
Race: Minish
Appearance: He wears a long, sky blue tunic and a lavender-coloured hat that is far too big for him. If one took off his hat, they would see his incredibly messy blonde hair which partly falls over is light blue eyes. He is short, even for a Minish, and is treated by some others as a child.
Personality: Nemik is optimistic and playful, with an almost mad desire to make others happy. He can be annoying at times, however, and tends to get quite upset if others are angry at him.
Ship Name: The Lone Zephyr
Ship Description: It is Minish-sized and made out of various small twigs, tied together with blades of grass. Nemik used magic to make the inside much more homely than the outside looks. It has two sails, each of which is a thin leaf tied into place with more grass. He used juices from various forest berries to 'paint' the hull the same blue as his tunic.
History: Nemik has been an orphan for as long as he can remember, raised in a small Minish village built by a spring. He used to love swimming in the spring, but there was a point where he couldn't swim any further. To explore even more, he decided to built, in private, a tiny boat which he could sail across the spring, but on the ship's 'maiden voyage', there was a sudden strong wind (Which, to a humanoid-sized creature, would have felt like a light breeze) which blew him down the river and eventually into the sea.

*Decides to see what a TCoD Zelda RP is like*
*Reserves a spot*
I'll fill this out later today when I have time.

Name: Tiravs
Gender: Male
Race: Hylian
Appearance: A 17 year old, with rusty red hair and hazel eyes. His usual outfit is a blue version of the heroes tunic, simply because he finds it comfortable for travel. He usually carries a bow and quiver strapped to his back. His complexion is a bit pale.
Personality: *Sigh* Tiravs is a dreamer. Always has been, always will be. He's content to simply stare out at the sea as he sails around, and laying down to watch the stars at night. He's a creative soul, and he likes to sketch and write about the things he sees in the world. While a little bit off the deep end, he also has a deep insight.
Ship Name: The Tempest
Ship Description: A small, KoRL sized boat, painted green and blue, with the figurehead of a wolf. His sail is styled with a lupine-estique insignia that his mother designed herself, and, while it doesn't have a cannon, he wards off most dangers with his bow.
History: Tiravs family has lived on Great Fish Island, and have gone through the plagues, losing family members every few years. However, his family was a relativly cheerful one, and his mother always said that the Godesses would repay them for these hardships. Tiravs has adopted this principle on life as well, inspite of the cyncalism of most others.

At one point, a stray boat floated to the island shore, with nothing but a sail, and a journal. Readding it, Tiravs found that it belonged to a trader who had recently lost his daughter to a storm. Having traveled the sea, he decided to drown himself, and wished whoever found his boat to take care of it, for it had been given to him by a good friend.

Tiravs decided to use this boat, to travel the seas himself, and try and spread the goddesses word. Taking with him a copy of the book of the triforce to preach with, along with a pad of paper. Partially as a journey of self discovery, partially to ignite the flame of belief, and partially to see the wonders of the world, he set off on The Tempest, with a promise to return to his mother, and a promise to help encourage the goddesses to repeal and repent.

Name: Rakita
Gender: Female
Race: Zora
Appearance: She surprisingly has green eyes. She looks like a normal Zora besides that.
Personality: She is outgoing. She loves to be out on the open sea. She loves to swim and show off.
Ship Name: The River Queen
Ship Description: A boat built for three, painted green with a white flower painted on both of the sides.
History: She was always the outcast because of her green eyes. After countless years of teasing, she left her home, built a boat, and started to travel, to get away from those who made fun of her.

Yay! More Zelda RP. I won't be so bored again for a while.

Name: Lita
Gender: Female
Race: Hylian
Appearance: She has red hair, yellow-green eyes, and wears green a lot. Kinda like what Link wears.
Personality: Snappy and sometimes rude, but if you can befriend her heart, you can peel away her snappish crust, revealing a heart of silver.
Ship Name: The Light of Dawn, or DawnLight for short.
Ship Description: A light, fast ship with three sails. The crow's nest doesn't go so high, solely because Lita is not only the captian, but also the lookout- and she has some sharp eyes and ears. the prow is made of silver and pointed like a nose, like the rest of the front of the ship. It is also plated with a mixture of iron and silver. It has three cannon on each side, and is a terror of the seas.
History: Lita used to live on Windfell Island, mainly because her familty was rich- that's why the ship's prow is silver. She pirated the ship from another person living there, and her crew consists of her few friends. When she stole the ship, she also had to fight with a sword, a curved, whiplike one handed sword. You had better be ready to run if you see the Light of Dawn anywhere nearby. While Lita is peaceful, if she feels threatened she will attack.

Woo, I have a pirate.

Name: Mica
Gender: Female
Race: Zora (But I like ninjas! ;_;)
Appearance: Mica is a regular Zora, but her skin is a more pale blue than normal. She likes wearing a "Link hat" (Which only barely fits)and carries around a purple sword, designed to look like the Master Sword, but has "fins" instead of wings. Her eyes are completely black.
Personality: Mica can be very impatient and sarcastic, even to people she likes. She likes making people laugh a lot and actually acts like a small child sometimes. Very independent and hates to admit if she can't do something.
Ship Name: Ruto's Revenge
Ship Description: Her ship is light and designed for moving quickly. There aren't any cannons or anything, but the prow is made of metal and can be used as a weapon by ramming into other ships. It's painted blue and green, with pictures of hundreds of swimming Zora near the bottom, underwater.
History: Mica has lived on Greatfish Isle for her whole life, and was extremely bored and restless. One day, she discovered a small part of a sunken ship on the ocean floor. After a while, she managed to get it to the surface and kept it on the island, and began adding to it. After months, the ship was ready and she left to go on an adventure.

Zora of Termina, Zephrous Castform, Animorph, LitatheLighmosa, Evoli: Accepted.

Exo-Raikou: Heh, I probably should have stated exactly how the Stalfos were revived in the first post, eh? Anyways, it's there now, though even if you changed that part I'd prefer if you didn't have "Dark powers", because you kind of godmodded a bit in the old RPG. :/ Coupled with your constant typos (Though there are some other people who could do with a spell checker in this thread, it seemed to happen far more often with you.) and tendency of capitalizing random words, I'm afraid I'll have to decline you for now. If you agree to use a spell checker or at least proofread your posts, I'll accept you.

Flareth: Your form's a bit short. I'm not asking you to type out a paragraph per section, but more than one line would be nice! Oh, and from what I've seen, you tend to post one or two-sentence RPG posts. It can be okay once in a while if there's not much to say, but if you're intending to do that throughout the whole thread, I'm going to have to decline you. And I find it a bit hard to imagine a Zora "being an outcast" just because they have green eyes.

Echo: You don't have to reserve a spot, silly. Like the previous one, it'll be open even after it's already started.

Yes, but I will anyway! >:D

And here it is...

Edit: Had second thoughts, changing now.

Edit: Here for real!

Name: Ohayou

Gender: Male

Race: Minish

Appearance: A minish... With messy white hair and blue-green eyes. Wears green, but dosen't wear a hat.

Personality: Random... Very, very random... that's all that will be mentioned.

Ship Name: S.S. Beerbottle / Rosutaimu

Ship Description: Half of a beer bottle with the mouth sealed off. Controlled by magic. When Ohayou uses his cloak of big-ness, the bottle turns into Rosutaimu, a white wooden ship, with blue green trim and rails. It has the same color sails, and a cabin built for two, but furnished for one. Above the deck, and in front of the sails is an arch with three bells of red, blue, and green. As they ring, they play Zelda's Lullaby and fog surrounds the ship. Rosutaimu has a claw that is used for finding treasure, but if used correctly, can make a crappy weapon.

History: Being rather insane, he was befriended by Eric, who gave him his cloak of big-ness. The cloak makes him hylian-sized, and can be activated only during the twilight. If he is in large/small form after dawn or dusk, he has to remain in that form until dawn/dusk. His cloak also causes the S.S. Beerbottle to change into Rosutaimu. S.S. Beerbottle was given to him by Eric for no reason whatsoever...

Finally, the form:

Name: Eric
Gender: Male
Race: Rito
Appearance: Looks more human like than the others, lacking the beak. However, he has tail feathers. His feathers are a mix of crimson red, fiery orange, and golden yellow, making them resemble a lovely sunset. He wears a black cloak sometimes that he got enchanted by the Minish in exchange for a few services. This cloak affords him protection from extreme heat and cold, along with enabling him to change between normal size and Minish size. The limitations of this cloak are how the size changing can only be used between sunset and sunrise, and how it blocks his wings, forcing him to keep it in a pack when not using it. He also has a blue tunic on underneath
Personality: Withdrawn, Loyal, Intelligent, Rash, Likely to lose temper. He doesn't like others too much, but is good friends with the Minish, having
Ship Name: The Phoenix
Ship Description: A bright red ship, it has golden sails and has two large wooden wings on the front, with a steel beak between them. This beak contains a cannon. There are also two, large wooden wings on the side. These wings are usable, and can be slammed against the sea then held outwards to allow the Phoenix to glide for a short distance. The ship is average in size
History: Having worked on this ship for a long time, Eric finally finished it about a year ago. He had to make promises and bargains with many races in order to get the supplies and help required. The sails were given to him by the Hylians from Windfell Island in exchange for Eric's service in the mines for six months, since his cloak affords him protection, allowing him to go deeper in than others can - excluding a Goron, of course. The wings were designed by fellow Rito's, free of charge. The wood for the ship was bought from the Gorons and gathered from the Fairy's Forest, and the complex mechanism used for flight was given to him by the Zora's, in exchange for him making them fifty-some water-tight cannons. He uses the ship to get from island to island, preparing for his eventual move on the Tower of Gods to see why the waters are rising. His cloak was weaved with enchanted threads by the Minish, whom he is good friends with. They did this in exchange for a home on the Phoenix, as the waters will continue to rise

In bold are the properties of the cloak. Tell me if it is too much, and I will try to make another limitation for it

Echo: Accepted, though wasn't Medli white-feathered, too?

Icalasari: I think it's a bit unfair for you to have qualities of other races, but if you can provide one other solid side-effect, I suppose it'll be okay. Make it a side-effect that actually negatively effects you and doesn't just limit how often you can use the cloak...using up your energy faster while you're wearing it, for example. Try actually punctuating your sentences and not capitalizing random words, too. And did you forget to write half of a sentence in the personality category or something? o.o

Well, I considered it also absorbing water easily, causing it to make me sink rapidly if I tried swimming with it, and forcing me to let it dry for a few days at a time whenever it got wet

Would that do?

Echo: Accepted, though wasn't Medli white-feathered, too?

*Facepalm* I realized that, and Ica and I conspired, giving birth (which sounds odd...) to a new character. Check my post again.
We already agreed on an in-game relationship.

Ohayou also can't swim for crap.

One-lined personalities and nearly one-lined appearances are still not okay, though. And you'll have to list some negative side-effects to go along with the cloak, too. And yes, I suppose that would be okay, Icalasari.

Name: Crystal
Gender: Female
Race: Hylian
Appearance: Wears black shorts and a white tee-shirt. Has blonde hair laying flat on her shoulders.
Personality: Quiet in public, but can befriend easily.
Ship Name: The Rising Dawn
Ship Description: Got it's name because Crystal believes a "new dawn" will come when she finds a new place currently unnaffected by the flood, and is white with an image of dawn on its sides. Has a golden floorboard representing the sun.
History: She used to live on Windfell Isle and saw a white boat for sale. It didn't cost too much, so she bought it. She then painted it to look like the dawn and plans to find new seas with it, saving lives.
(I'll be more active this time I promise)

LitatheLighmosa: Well, I was hoping to start when Echo and Icalasari joined, but since they haven't replied yet, I guess we'll start now.

ChaosTres: Wait, is your character named Crystal or Angel? Either way, accepted. As long as you'll be more active this time.

Starr sighed, staring out at the sea from atop the Rising Gale. He closed his eyes and willed the ship north with his mind. Sure enough, he felt his "ship" splash forward through the water, leaving behind the island he'd lived on for his whole life. He stared out at the sea again, remembering a time where you could see a silhouette of an island in every direction. That time was long gone now. The ship shook a bit in the water, and Starr quickly concentrated on it again. This would be such a boring trip. He continued concentrating on the ship, only giving a small part of his attention on looking for Greatfish Isle, the landmark that signaled for him to start sailing northeast.

Ruka gripped the wheel of the ship boredly. She would've rather been swimming, but that would've left her ship, the Silver Scale, behind. And she really wouldn't be able to swim that long either. It would be a fairly boring trip - an hour and a half it would've been since she had set off that she would make land again - but she would live it out.

"Would be great if I could succeed by myself..." she muttered, "Although many Hylians, and even some of my race, have tried and failed..."
