Sugimori art for backgrounds?

So, I'm trying to make some backgrounds for a future site using sugimori art, but they always paste in with a black background. Which of course means that I can't get rid of the background without getting rid of the outline too. Help?

Where are you getting these images from, what's their file extension and what are you pasting them in to?

It's a problem with Windows, not the image.
