Oooh, yay! I hope this isn't a repeat of the Rotom incident, although from the article that seems unlikely. I hope it isn't a Pikaclone.

They have said it is an electric type, so it could be the Gen V Clonechu (but I've heard chatter about Raichu evos and Pika forms.)

I'd rather have a clonechu than Raichu evos and Pika forms. At least the clonechus make sense. Raichu evos break traditions and Pika forms just doesn't make a single bit of sense. Pikachu has had everything sensible added to it, so they should leave it alone and focus more on Marill or one of the clonechus, particuly Plusle and Minun.

Raichu evos
Nah, I doubt their gonn go past the 'three Pokemon in a direct line thing'. And Pikachu forms? I doubt that Nintendo's gonna screw around with their mascot that much.

I've mastered the sacred art of the post ninja! YES!
I wouldn't be suprised if they did screw Pika up like that, no matter how unlikely.

I would think it was totally cool if they made another forme and/or an alternate evo for Pikachu. :3 But nobody said this was going to be another Pikaclone-- just because it's electric... and Pikachu-sized... I mean, it could be another type. Fighting! YES!
...It's blue. And it looks like it has long ears. Um. I'll practice drawing it and wait anxiously for the thirteenth when it gets revealed.

^I think an Actual Nintendo Official (tm) said it was an Electric.

...I knew someone would say that, but I was too lazy to correct my post...
What I meant to say was, subtype. It could be electric/fighting.

No more Pikaclones please. I want completely new Pokemon.

I also really do not want another Pikaclone, but something tells me it's probably going to be one. :(

Thats better than a pika form. Or should I say "forme".

Guys, it's not going to be a Pikachu forme. If it were, they'd have no game to put it in... until the fifth generation, in which case they might as well be revealing an actual fifth generation Pokémon, to generate more hype.

To repost my thoughts from another forum:
Looking at what little of the mystery 'mon we can see here (I'll just go ahead and link straight to PokéBeach's newest article (http://pokebeach.com/news/1208/closer-look-at-golden-light-and-new-pokemon-in-trailer) in case anyone's missed it), I feel relatively confident saying that it's probably something mammalian. Reptilian Pokémon and the rest tend not to have such "fluffy-looking" bits on them. Of course, it could be a wing (though in my opinion the apparent angle and the fact that it's probably running on the ground alongside Pikachu makes that unlikely) or some sort of odd tail that I suppose could belong to anything, but... eh, I'm currently leaning towards Pikaclone for this one.

I agree with butterfree, its probably not gonna be a Pikaclone.
But whatever the next movie is about and whoever stars in it, it looks really epic!
Palkia,Dialga and Giratina rising out of the water in Greece = awesome

Butterfree said it won't be a Pikachu Forme. It could easily be a Pkaclone.

However awesome that would be, it isn't actual Greece, it's just locations based on Greece - presumably Spear Pillar.

Yeah, I guess so...
It would be cool though.

Looks like Arceus is likely going to be in this movie. The article that Kratos Aurion linked to outlined a golden shape in the light
Besides, it would be the only thing that is a big enough threat for Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina to all team up against (at least, the only one I can think of. For all I know, Pikachu could have sprouted wings, started glowing, and gone, "Oh, wait, I'm strong enough to knock out a Golem with Thunder! I can go and kill the Dragon Trio now!")
Back on topic, yeah, probably the next Pikaclone

I seriously doubt that it's a Pikaclone (I must be one of the few people who actually like them, too D:). It doesn't have a light color scheme, which all of the current Pikaclones do, except Raichu, even then it it's somewhat bright. Why would they interduce a Pikachu forme that seems like it'd be a dark type? If anything, I think it's a prevo of Sneasel, because if you watch the video its left ear comes out like Sneasel's, except there's a lack of a feather. Even then I have my doubts, because prevos are usually smaller than that, and isn't Sneasel small anyways?

It could be some sort of ear or tail-tip, though. Pichu has rather a lot of black on its ears, for example. After watching the video myself, I'd say they're ears; Pikachu has its arm around what one would logically assume is the creature's shoulder, meaning whatever is above that is its head. If that's the case, those black things would definitely be some sort of tip (if not ears, then some sort of exaggerated cheek fluff or something). Just because the tiny bit that isn't obscured isn't light doesn't mean you can tell that the entire color scheme is one thing or another, unless you're somehow seeing more of it from behind the question mark than I am.

So my thoughts were spot-on. It is a Pichu-like Pikaclone--specifically, Pichu itself. :P
According to PokéBeach (http://pokebeach.com/news/1208/hidden-pokemon-revealed-12th-movie-title-and-new-pokemon-next-month), however, there is still a "new Pokémon" to be revealed in January, whether it is actually what we are assuming is that Pichu or something as yet unseen. Chances are it'll probably be in the movie as well, given the timing, so I'm willing to bet that there's more to the apparent secrecy than meets the eye.

That's almost definitely Arceus, which hasn't been officially revealed before now.

That's true, it is possible; it's easy to forget that when you've known about its existence for as long as you've known about, say, Abomasnow's. Still, I wouldn't rule the possibility out entirely.

Wow pratfall.
Just as I was getting all excited about it, too. I want to slap them now. They are friggin' overdue for a fifth-gen Pokemon, and they tease us with this super secret hidden one, only to find out that, doggone it, it was Pichu all along.

*giggle* I'm actually happy about that! Nice fake-out by the good people of Nintendo and I like Pichus.
That notched ear looks good too. More gender changes...? Serebii found out that the Pichu shown is female. I'd prefer more gender changes then a one-off Pokemon with a slight change to its appearance. Still, I think it's only the one ear that's notched...hmmmm....

Why would a difference in ears be moved to a difference in tails?
But yes, Pichu are awesome and anything you say will not change my opinion.

Good point. But the ear does look cute...and the Pikachu line are arguably more recognised by their ears then their tails, especially Raichu. o.o

Well, look at it this way. If it is some sort of gender difference or other actual mechanic, where are they going to put it but in a fifth-gen game?
I mean, personally I don't think it is anything like that, but still.
Why would a difference in ears be moved to a difference in tails?
Why would a difference in Meditite's ears translate to a difference in the top of Medicham's head when they could just do something to the top of Meditite's head? Why would a difference in the number of puffs on Bidoof's tail translate to a difference in the number of puffs on Bibarel's face when they could just do something to Bidoof's face?
Butterfree

I don't really think it would be a gender difference, if it was specifically named as a "notch-eared Pichu"; at most they might be about to introduce some sort of a feature to make individual Pokémon have gender-irrelevant differences in their sprites, though I wouldn't think it's very likely.

Maybe Butterfree...afterall, they managed to do it with Spindas o.o I don't see why they couldn't include that as a bonus for other Pokemon. It'd make them more unique that way I guess. Thought I'm betting that if they do, the odds will probably stack up to those equal of finding a shiny.

All I want to know is why a tiny Pichu is so important.

error, error, pichu is way smaller than pikachu yet in the video pikachu put his arm round the pokemon like it was the same height
it can't be pichu cos he's like half the height of pikachu, also in one of the pics does anyone but me notice the new pokemon's shadow disappears?
this gets me thinking that he is one of four things
1.is an electric/flying type
2.an electric/ghost type
3.electric/dark type
4.is jumping up in the air
also, according to the super-crap Marriland there will be an electric/bug type called antric (poorly translated)
while he isn't the best source of information i think it's too early to totally dismiss the idea

...No, it has been specifically confirmed to be the weird-eared Pichu.
H20firefly
12-22-2008, 02:48 PM
how is it confirmed? all you see are these weird ears and we know it's an electric type, Nintendo didn't just come up and say it was a weird eared pichu did they?
it could be anything thus meaning that those things i mentioned could be just as real as there would be a strange eared pichu

Urm, about what Marriland posted - that was an April Fools joke. Along with the Arceus event.

12-22-2008, 03:22 PM
welp, ne electric/bug type for me then :(
but the rest of it isn't from marriland at least, just speculation by me
