For FMC. No fully evolved pokemon; unevolveds are fine.

1 v 1
DQ: One week
Damage Cap: 35%
Banned Moves: OHKO's, Direct Healing, Attract, Weather
Arena: Berry Farm #5

The berry shop has several suppliers, most of whom are waiting around for the store to actually open. In recent times, a few of them have opened up some of their gardens in an attempt to raise publicity about the potential shop, hoping that someone might be willing to open it and give them profit from the TCoD ASB League.

The garden, basically, is a flat expanse of loamy soil enclosed by a short fence. Several berry plants grow all over the field, although they aren't numerous enough to get in the way of everything. Even more common than the plants are the berries themselves, lying on the soil with nobody to claim them... nobody but those fighting here, at least.

Pokemon can spend an action searching for a particular berry, and as long as they can physically do so, are very likely to find it; the berries themselves have distinct appearances, and they are scattered all over the place; failing that, the berry plants are easily accessible, and are in various stages of growth. This berry, once acquired, acts as a normal held item. If the pokemon faints or finishes the battle while holding the berry, the trainers can sneak away with them.

However, there's no way for the trainers to use them in future battles because, since the berries weren't bought from the appropriate League-approved store, they can't legally be used after this battle... so instead, using the handy little black market, the trainers sell the berries to unknown customers who desire the berries for their own, non-ASB needs.

Here is a list of available berries, their effects, and their worth:

Aspear Berry ($2): A yellow berry patterned with bright green rings. A pokémon holding this item may consume it to cure freezing.
Cheri Berry ($2): This tiny, bright red berry is very spicy. A pokémon holding this item may consume it to cure paralysis.
Chesto Berry ($2): This brown and blue berry is very tough and dry-tasting. A pokémon holding this item may consume it to awaken itself.
Pecha Berry ($2): This sweet pink berry is actually hollow. A pokémon holding this item may consume it to cure poison.
Persim Berry ($2): A pink berry whose coloration grows increasingly striking as it absorbs sunlight while growing. A pokémon holding this item may consume it to cure itself of confusion.
Rawst Berry ($2): A bright blue berry that is very bitter-tasting. A pokémon holding this item may consume it to cure a burn.
Apicot Berry ($4): A half-blue, half-green lobed berry. A pokémon holding this item may, when it falls below 33% health, consume it to gain a permanent +1 boost to its special defense.
Ganlon Berry ($4): A berry made of alternating blue and orange segments. A pokémon holding this item may, when it falls below 33% health, consume it to gain a permanent +1 boost to its defense.
Leppa Berry ($4): A small red and yellow berry that is packed with flavor. A pokémon holding this item may consume it to regain 10% energy.
Liechi Berry ($4): A round red and yellow berry. A pokémon holding this item may, when it falls below 33% health, consume it to gain a permanent +1 boost to its attack.
Oran Berry ($4): A plump blue berry that is packed with flavor. A pokémon holding this item may consume it to regain 5% health.
Petaya Berry ($4): A large, scaly orange berry. A pokémon holding this item may, when it falls below 33% health, consume it to gain a permanent +1 boost to its special attack.
Salac Berry ($4): A heart-shaped green berry covered in nubs. A pokémon holding this item may, when it falls below 33% health, consume it to gain a permanent +1 boost to its speed.

[Doomsday] Bidoof (F)
Ability: Simple
Signature Modification: Resistance to Criticism
As a Bidoof, Doomsday is often made fun of and criticized for being what she is. As a result, Doomsday acquired a thick skin, if you will, towards being made fun of. It is nearly impossible to make her angry, and she has an eternally cheerful and optimistic outlook on life.

Effects: Doomsday is always happy and cheerful, no matter what. Whenever she uses Return, it gets a 2% Damage bonus, while Frustration gets a 5% reduction. Taunt and Torment have a 50% chance of not working at all on her, and Swagger doesn't cause an Attack increase. Confusion caused by Flatter has a 75% chance of her hurting herself, however.

[Kate] Glameow (F)
Ability: Own Tempo
Signature Move: Glamour Shot
Glameow are known to hypnotize enemies with their large enchanting eyes, and Kate has perfected this ability. She looks her foe in the eyes, and sends them a mental signal that convinces them that they are the most beautiful creature in existence. If the suggestion is successful, the foe is completely in love with themselves, and will take every opportunity to groom, preen, strut, or just stare in awe at their own refection. This may cause them to ignore orders. The move will fail if the foe has no eyes, or cannot see due to darkness or other obstructions. It will also fail if the foe’s ability is Oblivious.

EXP: 0

[Philharmonic] Chatot (m)
Ability: Tangled Feet
Signature Move: None

Signature Attribute: Conductor's Baton

Philharmonic was born with an oddly long tail - almost a foot long, nearly as long as he is tall! He was made fun of by his siblings for the abnormal body part, but he pressed on.

As he started the battle, he learned that when he flicked his tail back and forth as chatot often do, his foes would be distracted by it. So be trained very hard with it, and now the tail constantly flicks back and forth in a distracting rhythm. The constant ticking will sometimes attract the attention of something attacking Philharmonic, and will miss or just not attack at all. he can even speed up the flicking to catch other Pokemon's attention even more, but it needs some effort, unlike the normal speed.

Effects: 5% additional chance that a Pokemon attacking Philharmonic will miss. If he speeds up the tail, it ups to a 10% chance, but Philharmonic takes 2% energy for each action it's sped up.

Dragon/Flying
-Baton Pass, Last Resort
+Dragon Rush, Dragon Pulse, Dragon Dance, Twister, Dragonbreath
Ability: Serene Grace
Sig Move: Arc of Joyous Colours

Togekiss are known to congregate where there is joy and happiness, and L’Arc~En~Ciel likes to spread the joy and happiness he has seen with the world! So he gathers up all the happy thoughts he can and lets them burst forth in a concentrated energy form, resembling a beam of light in rainbow colours. The blast is so bright in colour that it’ll light up any nearby darkness, and has a chance to confuse the foe with its bright light and colour.

The move will fail if L’Arc~En~Ciel is feeling depressed or angry, and the confusion effect won’t happen if the foe has no eyes or is blinded by sand, ect.

Normal Type / Special / 95% Accuracy / 10% Damage / Energy: 7% / 20% Chance to confuse foe / Target: Single / Duration: One Action / Usage Gap: Three Rounds
Received: Teleporter
EXP: 3

[Edward] Persian (M)
Ability: Technician
Signature Attribute: Right Arm of Steel

Edward's previous owner was none too kind to him. He was pushed to win by any means necessary by the cruel man, and when he couldn't, he had replaced Edward's right arm with a Stainless Steel replica in a rather painful operation. Such prosthetics, usually to replace limbs lost in accidents, tend to double as weaponry. The arm is, since it is made of steel, is very strong, and the arm's claws are very sharp. However, it is heavy.

Effects: The weight of the arm gives Edward a permanent -1 to his speed, while the sheer power gives a +1 to physical attacks made with the arm. The base, where the steel connects to his shoulder, is very sensitive, so all moves that land there gain a %2 damage bonus. If he blocks an attack with his arm, he takes %2 less damage. The weight of the arm makes it almost impossible to swim, so if he is placed in water, he'll sink.

And I'll counter with:
[Jasmine] Buizel (F)
Ability: Swift Swim

Start things out with a Substitute for 10%... That should make sure you don't get statused for a bit, anyway... Then make some good use of the terrain and give me a great big Mud Slap, unless Vitiation protects or similar; then use Bulk Up. Finish with Return, unless she protects, etc etc, then Bulk Up.

Substitute (10%) ~ Mud Slap/Bulk Up ~ Return/Bulk Up

Fear not, my dear puddle! We can destroy the substitute, have a high chance of poisoning her, and ruin her mood for Return all with the same attack!

Launch a barrage of Sludge Bombs. All three actions. She can't avoid poisoning for long!

Try having your arms in front of your eyes before Mud-Slap if you can. Or close your eyes before the second action but after Sludge Bomb is launched and wipe the mud out of your eyes before opening them. Shock Wave if you failed to do so and are completely incapable of aiming at her. If you can still see well enough, go ahead with Sludge Bomb.

Aim for the face!

Sludge Bomb ~ Sludge Bomb / Shock Wave ~ Sludge Bomb / Shock Wave

Pre Battle:

The smell of berries waft through the air, calming the nerves of the ref on the scene. After recently hearing that she has exams, she’s been stressed from her job and from her lowly school. She lets out a sigh and looks at her watch, wandering when the trainers would arrive. After quickly looking around, she snags a berry and eats it quickly.

Hey. Not all Refs are rich.

The sound of running reaches the Ref’s ears, causing her to choke a bit on the berry. She quickly stands up and tries to look professional before the trainers arrive. After a brief, and rushed line of excuses, the trainer stake their positions and get ready. The small trainer wearing cat ears sends out a small water weasel that seems to be full of pep, but something about the look in it’s eye sends a slight shiver down the Ref’s spine. The other trainer, dressed in a way that doesn’t give any hints of what gender they may be sends out a puddle of purple, stinky, goo that somehow is alive and has eyes. It’s very presence starts to make the surrounding plant life wilt.

After a quick coin toss, it is decided that Kusarigamaitachi would send out first.

~Round One~

The battle begins when the slippery weasel rushes in the battle field with a gleeful yell, stopping at her end of the field and waits for her opponent to take his place. She studies the purple blob and grins, thinking to herself how easy this should prove to be. She then turns and looks at her trainer, getting her first command in the battle. She nods and turns back to the battle, seeing that her opponent was still oozing their way into the field. She rolls her eyes and just chuckles.

This will be easy.

Jasmine closes her eyes and focus her energy. She opens her mouth and spits out a puddle of water, fusing it with a tenth of her energy. The puddle starts to take a vague form, twisting and solidifying into a pale version of herself.

Vitiation on the other hand, finally oozes her way to her side of the field, her first set of commands in her mind. She may be slow moving, doesn’t mean she’s slow minded. She stops when she reaches the spot where a projectile ball of sludge could hit a opponent with ease, turning her unblinking eyes to her opponent…s? Vitiation stares at the two buizels, wondering when the other human sent this one out. The new buizel looked fairly weak, looking pale and sickly compared to the other one. She would shrug if she had shoulders, not caring in the very least that there was two weasels before her. She had her orders and knew what she was to do. She reaches her hand to her side and pulls off a chunk of herself, forming it into a toxic snowball. She then bends her arm back and tosses the ball of sludge through the air, watching it arc high then speed towards the weasels below. With mild amusement, she watches the paler buizel jump in front of it’s brighter counterpart, a look of fierce determination on it’s face. The ball of sludge grows closer to the pale weasel by every passing second until the sound of a splat not unlike the sound of mud hitting the ground marks the end of the first attack.

The ball missed the target and splatter on the ground a foot away from the pale buizel.

Jasmine tilts her head back and laughs, finding the blobs miss amusing. How can this puddle of toxic vomit even think of beating her? She couldn’t help but feel confident in her victory over this mess of a pokemon. She bends down the spot where she spat water, collecting mud in her paws.

With greater speeds, she makes her way to the grimer, her grin turning fierce the closer she got. Vitiation sees her coming and remembers what she was to do if this happened. She waits until the buizel was close enough before covering her eyes. Once Jasmine came in range of the puddle, she leaps into the air and slaps her hand down in the face of the Grimer where it’s eyes once were. Jasmine jerks back when she notices the lack of eyes on the thing’s face. She pulls her hand back in confusion, wondering where the eyes were.

Then, like a snap of fingers, the eyes pop out of the sludge at stare at her, a look of smugness in her eyes. Before Jasmine could even breath, Vitiation shoves her hand out with another ball of sludge and connects…with the chest of the Substitute that suddenly appeared to protect it’s master. Jasmine watches in terror as her faithful substitute melts before her, bubbling and liquefying at her feet with the toxic poison giving it a sickening purple shade.

Maybe this wasn’t as easy as it seemed.

Jasmine jumps back from the dangerous ooze, her heart beating at a fast rate. This thing was dangerous! It destroyed her substitute in one shot and still hade energy to do more. Jasmine thinks fast and tries to calm herself. She’s faster, smarter, and stronger than this puddle. She is a better fighter and beautiful, all thanks to the care she receives from her trainer. She can do this.

Jasmine then smiles, the love for her trainer and the knowledge that she’s the superior fighter fuelling her action. She speeds forward and takes in a fury of punches fuelled with happy thoughts and optimistic goals.

Vitiation sits there and takes the hits, finding it amusing to see the buizel pumped up from a mental pep talk and attacking her with such gusto. Near the end of the attack, Vitiation starts to feel the collective damage and decides to end the weasel’s fun. When Jasmine punches into Vitiation’s body, the sludge forms around her paw and holds her still, ensuring that the weasel can’t escape. Jasmine lets out a surprised scream and struggles to get free, failing epically at it. Vitiation lets out a sludge garble that was the equivalent of a dark chuckle and slams her fist into the buizel’s face, the ball of sludge splattering all over her face and down her neck and chest.

Jasmine lets out a high pitched squeal and manages to slip away from the sludge, running back to her side of the battle. She looks down at herself and sees that her face, neck, and chest was covered in a thick purple goo. Try as she might, the goo would not move from her fur. She turns her attention back at the grimer.

She was going to pay.

- Sludge Bomb missed the first action
- In case your wondering. Vitiation sunk her eyes into her body…Since I always seem to think of these things as more liquid, I think it has the ability to sink it’s eyes into it’s body, change the place where it’s face is.
- Mud-slap wasn’t able to blind Vitiation.
- Jassie’s Substitute broke in the second action
- Jasmine was poisoned in the last action
- Kusarigamaitachi Attacks first this round.

You missed? Uncool. Aim better.

Especially since we'll be going for slightly more damage, this time. Thunderbolt, or Shock Wave if she uses Double Team/some other move that would negatively affect your ability to hit her. Chill if she protects or you are otherwise definitely unable to attack/hit her with an attack barring substitute. Or if you hit a cap, unlikely though it may be.

If you can see it coming, also try to protect your eyes if she goes for accuracy-lowering again. Blocking it with an arm, doing the same thing as before, whatever.

You may as well try to keep your distance, though your speed would probably make it difficult.

Thunderbolt / Shock Wave / Chill ~ Thunderbolt / Shock Wave / Chill ~ Thunderbolt / Shock Wave / Chill

We don't have to be concerned much about an easy cure for that poison... she wastes an action and the poison's still there, outside her body and wouldn't disappear from the berry. So it might poison her again, and you've got an unlimited supply of sludge bombs... and if the poison is sticking to her fur, she'll have a hard time getting it off unless she spends another action purposefully spitting a powerful stream of water at herself. Hard to hit, and even if she does it might not be successful and she'll likely harm herself. Plus she probably makes it worse for the electricity.

Also you're prettier than she is. A superior fighter, too.

bwarg. Poison.

So let's just.... hurry this along, sweetie. I want you to Dig under that barf-puddle! The soft soil should be easy to dig through. Try to make the tunnel at a bit on an angle too. When you're under the ground there, try to make sure you're right under her and then use Dig up and out of the dirt and into her! Bwahaha. If you hit her, great! if not then boo :C Finish by getting away from her and using Ice Beam. But if you can't get out, just lurk underground and loosen up with Agility.

Dig Down~ Dig Up ~ Ice Beam/Agility

this is so not going to work I know it

~Round Two~

Jasmine starts off the round with a flurry of soft soil thrown into the air. She swiftly digs herself a nice hole to slip into before the nasty “barf puddle” could even utter a single sludge-y word. She burrows deep into the earth and awaits for her next move. She shivers as the poison starts to kick in. She hisses and glares up at the soil above her.

That puddle of toxic waste didn’t know what was coming.

Vitiation gurgles, not really caring that her opponent was currently under the ground. Since she could no longer see Jasmine, she decided to just sit back and chill for the first part of the round.

Vitiation didn’t have much time to chill sadly. Jasmine bursts out of the ground under her and slams into the puddle of toxins, slipping through Vitiation’s body from the force of the blow. As she remains air born from the attack, she looks down at the oil spill of a pokemon and sneers at her. Vitiation gurgles, a chuckle like sound coming from her sludge mouth. Before Jasmine could come down from the air, a crack in the sky above signalled the first attack of Vitiation. A bolt shoots down from the sky and strikes the air born weasel, causing her to light up like a firework. A coat of flames appear on Jasmine, burning her hide underneath the fur. Jasmine lets out a ear splitting cry and falls back into the sludge of Vitiation’s body. She then lets out a annoyed whine as the poison strikes her again, coupled with the new pain of fresh burns.

Jasmine struggles in to try to pry herself free from the pile of waste, but Vitiation only drags her deeper into her body. Jasmine lets out a cry before being completely enveloped into the deeps of it’s pudding like body. Vitiation gurgles a happy sound, a wicked look in her eyes. She then notices that her insides were starting to burn from the heat generated by the flaming buizel. Smoke starts to slip from the gaps in her body, flames licking the core of her being. She gurgles a pained whine as she feels her body burn into a painful ball of molten slime.

Then her back started to freeze.

No sooner had the Grimer claim a early victory, a beam of blue and ice shoots out for her back and cracks her body into frozen pieces. Jasmine pries herself out of the body of her foe and makes her way away from the Grimer in attempts to find a hiding place before the weak ice on the Grimer melted. No sooner did this thought strike her did the sound of the sky crackling above warn her that Vitiation had thawed from the attack. Jasmine trains her eyes on the sky and readies herself for the attack that was to come. At the first sign of light, she leaps to the left of her position and eats dirt as the bolt of lighting strikes the spot she once was. She shiver from the close call and from yet another poison-typed attack on her insides. She then cries out as she feels the burn from her still burning coat, now fueled with more Grimer sludge. Vitiation gurgles a harsh sound and hisses at the weasel, her burned body still stinging even though the flames were no longer in her body.

Both opponents look at each other, both looking for the best method to fell their opponent without sustaining major injuries.

I think Kusari meant to put "yes"... as I wrote in the second link it posted, the only kind of damage that isn't affected by caps is the self-inflicted kind.

ON FIRE?!

AHG D:

Ok Jassie, so let's get out of this predicament; Aqua Jet her in the face! The water covering you should put out them flames, as well as do some damage. Then Dig underground, and then come crashing up under her again. If at any time she Protects/detects/etc, then chill, except the first action, then dig underground for that action instead. if you dig first action, then come up second and use Mud Slap last.

Aqua Jet/Dig ~ Dig/Chill/Dig part 2 ~ Dig Part 2/Chill/Mud Slap

Thunderbolt after the aqua jet, but first get a short distance away; the poison probably won't get washed off by a bit of water like that (if moon-panther refs it as being covered in water, anyway, since the description says nothing about that), and even if it is, she'll be touching you anyway. She might end up on fire again. Smothering the flames with dirt will fix that in short order, but we're trying to prevent it from happening to you, here.

While she's underground, seek and ingest a rawst berry. That should only take an action, right. Anyway, burns are unpleasant and we don't want it.

After she comes up, thunderbolt again. Do not do this while she's in the air or touching you. That's dumb and will only set you on fire again. Since she'll have gotten you-gunk all over her, she may be set on fire again. (Yeah, you can probably protect and she'll hit you anyway because she shouldn't be able to sense it - but hey, she's burned.)

Thunderbolt ~ rawst berry ~ Thunderbolt

All-encompassing order: never attack her in midair again, unless I specifically order you to. :| And also if she comes up right through you, try and make it so she doesn't land in you.
