Terrain: The Battle Factory

The Battle Factory’s arena is simple but practical: a large clay arena bordered by a two-meter-wide, three-meter-deep trough of water to accommodate water-dependent pokemon and attacks. The ceiling is retractable, allowing weather attacks to be used. Other than that, there’s nothing of note: just wide-open brawling space with nothing to get in your way.

The Battle Factory’s stands are mostly empty, housing only a few bored-looking spectators and one old guy who has apparently fallen asleep. The only enthusiastic-looking attendees are probably members of one of the competitor’s families. The first round of the Championship tournament isn’t the most highly-anticipated event in the history of the League, but for the challengers loitering to one side of the arena, it is just as important as any other match. Doing their best not to show any nervousness they might be feeling, they crane their necks to watch a huge screen mounted on the side wall between them. For now, it shows only their own names and faces, but at a signal from the referee, images of pokemon flash at the bottom of the display, a dizzying cascade of different species.

The randomization seems to last an age for the competitors whose victory may rest on what the computer chooses, but it is really only a few seconds before six images settle on the screen and, with a rattle, six pokéballs are dispensed into depressions below the display. The two trainers step up and select one pokéball each before making their way to the boxes marked off on either side of the arena.

A brief, muted stir of activity sweeps the stands. The League Championship is about to begin, and even the most jaded of spectator’s can’t help but feel a little thrill as the referee calls out the match’s beginning and two pokéballs are hurled into the air.

For this battle, you will be using a rental Pokémon instead of one from your team. The six (only one of each) available to you are the following:

Barboach (F) <Oblivious>, Skuntank (F) <Stench>, Pupitar (F), Yanmega (F) <Speed Boost>, Slaking (F), Butterfree (M)

2. Li'l Dwagie chooses and attacks

Re: [09] Li'l Dwagie vs greategret

(Yeah, it's you - check the matchups thread)

Slaking eh?... Wow I really wasn't expecting that. o-0 Honestly I planned ahead for everything but.
No matter though.. though this looks a tad threatening for me, I believe my best bet lies in.... I can't believe I'm saying this... Skuntank.
Right-o Skunky~ Le- Oh, geez.. That reeks.. That's one big skunk.. *Puts shirt over nose* I'll refrain from what I would be nicknaming her..
*Slightly Muffled* Right, let's lead things off with a Smokescreen - We don't want that thing touching you and it already isn't too thrilled about it I'm sure. Follow up with a Toxic to start massing some nice innate damage on it, and start focusing with Focus Energy. Let's hit it hard and be done with it~
If it tries to block any of your hits let it go and swap your Focus Energy with Toxic (Use Focus Energy on protect turn and Toxic on the third turn instead). We need to have that thing poisoned.

Smokescreen / Focus Energy ~ Toxic / Focus Energy ~ Focus Energy / Toxic

Re: [09] Li'l Dwagie vs greategret

After she uses Smokescreen, use Encore. If you can't see her, then be loud about it. Then you can slack off the next turn. Then, stay at a distance in case the Encore wore off, and use Earthquake. Try and split the ground if you can.

~Round One~

Once the trainers have chosen their pokemon, the battle commences upon the release of the fighters. On one side, a large ape-like pokemon lets out a loud yawn upon release, scratching her belly with a bored expression. On the other side, a livelier pokemon hops from foot to foot, a odd odour wafting off of her body. Both trainers and Ref cover their noses as skunk pokemon enters the field. To get this battle over with, the trainers call out their attacks and wait to see what happens.

Skunktank hangs back a bit and stares down her opponent, sizing the other female up. With a cocky grin, the skunk closes her eyes and takes a breath. She focus on finding all her most foul and dense vapours to “expel” from her body to create a screen that would mess with the ape’s eyesight. Then with a burst of of pure force…nothing appeared to shield her. She opens her eyes and looks confused as to why her smoke screened failed, feeling less than confident now than before. Bubbles on the other hand lets out a gruff chuckle and claps her hands half-heartedly. She was told to use Encore and encore she will, even though there was nothing to clap for. She then rests her head back on her hand and waits for the next feeble attempt of a attack from the Skunktank.

Skunktank didn’t take long to show Bubbles her next attack. Angered by the mocking of the ape, she lunges forward toward the Slaking, gathering a mouthful of toxins as she went. Upon reaching the ape, she spat the glob of purple substance in the gorilla’s face. She then falls back to stay out of reach in case the Slaking had any thought of attacking her for spitting in her face. Bubbles had no such thought of attacking this action. She lets out a yawn, wiping some of the purple ooze off her face. She winces as the purple gunk stings her skin, letting out a soft sigh. This was her turn to relax, yet she had stinging stuff on her and if was all caused by the smelly brat.

Bubbles then lifts herself up and looks at the annoying Skunktank. She scratches her belly and crosses her legs under her, then swiftly as she can, she slams her fists onto the ground to create a massive shock wave that shook the ground beneath them. She lets out a soft grunt as she insides sting again from the odd gunk that the skunk spat on her. The shockwave causes Skunktank to stumble and fall on her face. Hard. The tremors continues to attack the Skunktank’s balance, causing her continuously injure herself in the process. Once the earthquake subsided, Skunktank becomes very still, tensing all her muscles and focusing her energy for the next attack.

The Ape-woman was going to pay.

Re: [09] Li'l Dwagie vs greategret (ref: moon-panther)

Just out of curiosity, why did smokescreen fail?

Since you're poisoned, Bubbles, Facade sounds like a good idea. Use it in your first action or as soon as you can. Slack off on your second action, but if you're using Facade that turn, slack off on your third action. If you can't attack during one of your actions, use Bulk Up. If you can't attack again, slack off instead. If you have an extra action, use Body Slam.

Facade/Bulk Up~slack off/Facade/Bulk Up~Body Slam/Bulk Up/slack off

I'm sort of interested too.. Isn't Smokescreen 100% accuracy and such? I suppose if you rolled a 0-1/100 it could critical fail but you didn't mention... o.o

Anyway though,

Ouch.. That thing hits like a truck. Hang in there tanks, we have it on the ropes with that poison. The last thing we need is it getting tougher though, let's hit it where IT hurts, start taunting the fat.. ugly... fatty-fat and get it a bit riled up - be careful about that first Facade. That one will sting a bit if it manages to land. Still, once she throws a fit, scout out her second attack and protect yourself when she throws it - let her flail uselessly, and when she slacks off, hit her hard with a Night Slash! Focus on that high critical rate with your energies charged, should end this quickly for us.. I sure hope anyway.

~Round two~

Bubbles cracks her knuckles and glowers down at the Skunktank, rage and revenge driving her forward. She attacks the skunk viscously, pounding her fists into the Skunktank’s body with no remorse. The Skunktank cries out as she is battered by the over-grown ape, her body taking more abuse than the last round at the hairy hands of this savage. She bites her tongue and swallows the pain, waiting for when the attack will be over. Once the assault ends, she glares up at the ape and lets out a flurry of verbal abuse on how she will never win this match and that she was nothing but a lazy lard-ass that can’t even hit hard enough to make a Magikarp faint. Bubbles lets out a growl before sitting down on the floor and glares at the Skunktank. Fighting was too much effort. She then shutters as the poison in her system attacks her insides again. She coughs a little as the feeling of acid crawling up her throat.

The poison seems to feel worse than last time.

Seeing that Bubbles was taking a break from battle, Skuntank takes her chance and lunges at the gorilla. She slashes at Bubbles with claws counted in black energy, creating a deep gash on her belly. Bubbles cries out a bit and glows at the Skunktank while the skunk ran back to safety. Bubbles rubs her belly, trying to soothe the stinging pain of the attack from her flesh. The attack seemed to have hurt more than it should have, in her mind. She shutters again from the poison once more, coughing again from the same feeling of acid. She glares at the skunk again, knowing that this vermin caused this ill feeling.

Bubbles gets back to her feet and lets out a huff, cracking her knuckles again as the thoughts of showing this skunk what it takes to really cause harm. Not able to faint a Magikarp her foot. She makes a run for the pesky skunk. Skunktank, seeing the fury in the Slaking’s eyes, quickly throws a protective shield and prays that it won’t break from the ape’s attack. But as Bubbles zeros in on her opponent, a piece of loose rock from the Earthquake before trips the Slaking and causes her to crash down onto the floor. Bubbles get back to her feet embarrassed, and Skunktank looks at her with a annoyed look. That stupid ape caused her to waste energy on a shield that wasn’t needed.

All right! Good going Tanks~ That's what we wanted to see. We might have her on the ropes, but play carefully here - that dirty, clumsy ape lady is angry. First of all, follow up that nice hit with another slash while you regain your bearings on the battle. That protect was a bit of a botch, but we can't always be that luck - Look out for her second hit and protect it, and when she lazes off give her another good slash~

Night Slash ~ Protect / Night Slash ~ Protect / Night Slash

Before Skuntank attacks, trap her with a Rock Tomb. Put some extra effort in it; it needs to hold for a while. After that you can Rest. Then slack off.

.:Round Three:.

Tanks seethes from the last round, not believing that the ape made a complete fool of her. While she muttered under her breath about this injustice, Bubbles gets back to her feet and stretches her arms, a slight smirk on her face. She suddenly stomps on the ground and creates a shokcwave that shakes the ground. Tanks, fearing that it was another earthquake, lays low on the ground to try to survive the shock. Suddenly, to Tanks pain, pillars of sharp jagged rocks shot out of the ground and trap Tanks where she laid. Frantic, the skunk tries to claw herself out with her first attack, failing to escape her prison. Outside of the tomb, Bubbles lets out a laugh and sits herself back on the ground, flinching as the poison damage eats at her stomach. She glares at the tomb.

But she didn’t put too much though into the skunk now that she was trapped. Bubbles leans onto her arm and yawns. She settles herself down and soothes herself into a sleep, twitching when she was stung by the poison, but after that last sting, she felt the illness disappear. She smiles as she falls into a deep sleep. Tanks on the other hand continues to dig her way out with tomb, letting out a ‘whoop’ when her paws break through the rock. She slips herself out of the tomb and shakes herself off.

This ape is going to pay!

Seeing that the ape was asleep, Tanks smirks and readies her next attack. She fuels all her frustration and hatred for this pokemon into her final attack, launching herself at the sleeping lug. She slashes Bubbles belly, leaving deep gashes that bleed from the attack. Tanks hops back and grins at the damage caused. Bubbles on the other had remains asleep, a pained look on her face.

DQ WARNING FOR Li'l Dwagie

I have semi internet. I may not be able to put a reffing up, doesn't mean you can't put a attack order here. Do so in the next 24 hours.

Ack, sorry, didn't see the update things have been ack sorry sorry. >_<

Aw that lazy Ape-thing, how cheap. Alright Tanks, we've forced her to use her healing now so we know she's on the ropes, let's start this again. Poison her again, we still need that damage and there's no escape this time. Toxic until it strikes. Then give her a nasty screech, see if you can't jostle her out of her healing rest, if nothing else you can make her even more uncomfortable about your slashes. Finally, let's get a rest in for yourself if we can. Hang in there hun, you're getting a bit winded, this is going to be a battle of attrition.

Toxic ~ Screech / Toxic ~ Rest / Toxic

Sorry that this has taken so long. But I will have this up really soon. When I get back from donating blood, I'll post this puppy~

Thanks for waiting. I'll try to be more active now that I'm not running around and stuff.

:Round Four:

Tanks sulks forward, carefully making her way toward Bubbles. She stares at the sleeping form of the ape woman and listens to the apes steady breaths. Bubbles rolls to her side and starts to mumble in her sleep, scratching her belly with a yawn. Tanks smirks as the ape continues to sleep, finding this to be far too easy. She leans down her head and starts to cough, purple ooze dripping from the corner of her mouth. Once her mouth was full of the toxins in her body, she spit’s the concoction onto the sleeping Bubbles. Bubbles form shakes as the poison takes affect on her insides, a drowsy grunt escaping her.

Bubbles then rolls to her other side and stares at the skunk before her, a annoyed look in her eyes. She sits up and scratches her belly, glaring down at the cowering skunk as she gets to her feet and growls at the fool that woke her. She steps closer to the skunk, seeing her back away from a fearful look in her eyes, and lifts her arms to the side. She leaps into the air and pile drives the poor skunk to the arena floor, smirking as the skunk screeches under her.

Then the screech takes a more painful turn.

Bubbles growls and releases Tanks, covering her ears as the grating sound of the screams racks on her mind. She stumbles back a few feet and shakes her head, trying to get the sound of the screaming skunk out of her mind, shivering as the earlier poison attacks her insides once more. Tanks smirks at the suffering ape, panting as she feels herself fading more than before.

Bubbles opens her eyes, her rage once again taking over her. First this skunk ruined her sleep, now she harmed her mind? This was not going to stand. Bubbles takes another flying leap at the skunk and slams her into the floor once more, letting out a satisfied grunt when she heard the faint cracking of bones underneath her. She sleeps off of the skunk and sits back on the floor, ending her round of attacks from a smirk. She decides to watch the skunk suffer until the next round is called. What she didn’t expect was the skunk to put itself to sleep to heal her wounds that she’s collected through the entire battle. Tanks now blissfully sleeping, all her wounds and pains fading away from her form in a pleasant sweep of energy. In her sleep, she realizes how tired she really was.

Truant still would have happened at some point--either it would have blocked the sleep talk (and thus thunderbolt), or one of the two body slams. If Bubbles had been told to just do nothing and sleep, that would have counted as slacking off, but since she sleep talked instead, that or any one of her other actions would have been blocked.

Lovely, Tanks~ Lovely~ This will be the final stretch, rest up~ Just chill, hun, as much as you can and watch Toxic work it's magic~ And don't let that ape rile you up, either.
But if you absolutely -must- for any reason, then make the smelly furball regret it, we want you up to speed so we can finish, but if worse comes to worse just give a nasty Night Slash and see if she doesn't get the point.. hehehe~
Hang in there~ You're doing wonderfully~
