3 vs 3 Single
Set style
DQ time: Standard week
Damage cap: 30%
Banned moves: OHKO, chills, direct healing moves
Arena: Imperial City ruins

The Imperial City used to be teeming with activity. However, with the fall of the Empire, it was quickly weathered down to an almost flat ground. Although it was tall enough to be seen from anywhere in Cyrodiil, even White Gold Tower has been reduced to nothing but dust. The only thing that still stands intact is the Temple Cauldron which is protected by the power of the Divine, Akatosh.

During each round, there is a 20% chance of the Divine, Talos, joining his power with that of Akatosh and causing the Dragonfires to ignite in the cauldron for 5 rounds. Its mysterious energy raises the power of Fire and Dragon type moves by 1.25 times the normal amount. However, the spirit of the flame burns brightly in the hearts of all Pokemon which cancels all effects of the Burn status other than the damage.

The presence of the two Divines suppresses evil, causing all Dark type moves to do only 3/4 of the normal damage. Also, Dark type Support moves have no effect (meaning that Nasty Plot would be useless, but Crunch can still lower your Defense).

Other rules: Pokemon must be either Baby or Basic (e.g. Pichu is Baby, Pikachu is Basic)

Also, Blastoise... you do know that experience doesn't go away just because you've used it to evolve something, right? Shino (and possibly also Husk, not sure about that) still has whatever EXP he had before. More importantly, what is Aximili's ability? It can't possibly be Arena Trap.

Oh, that was a mistype. I used Trapinch's layout as the template. It would be Water Absorb.

Let's try Camp.

Re: Wyvern vs. Blastoise428

Alrighty then, first of all thanks Kratos for taking our match. Secondly, I'm going to fight water with water and go with Ben!

(Ben) Buizel (M)
Swift Swim

Ok, Slowpoke's fairly slow so we should have the advantage. Start off with Rain Dance to activate Swift Swim, then hit him with a super-effective Pursuit and finish off with Mud Slap to make it harder to hit you.

Rain Dance ~ Pursuit ~ Mud Slap

Re: Wyvern vs. Blastoise428

Okay, go ahead and try a Zap Cannon, and aim first. Then use Trick Room until it works. If you have a spare action, use Psychic to toss the Mud Slap back into Ben's face.

Round One: Begin

An orange and purple sky hangs over the shattered remains of the Imperial City. Long ago, the sunset would have been broken by the silhouettes of magnificent buildings, the skyline dominated by the colossal White Gold Tower, but now it runs uninterrupted along a horizon dotted by structures reduced to gravel and rubble. A sad sight, perhaps a little haunting... but the perfect location for a fast-paced Pokémon battle.

The huge Temple Cauldron, all that remains of the city's former grandeur, sits in between two smallish Pokémon. Ben the Buizel chatters energetically and gives his forked tail an experimental twirl or two, eager to get his very first battle started. His swift and fearsome opponent, Hippocampus the Slowpoke... sits there and stares into space. Ben glances over his shoulder, confused and wondering what on earth is back there that is so much more fascinating than battling him; when he sees a whole lot of nothing behind him he shrugs, writes Hippocampus off as a lazy bum and returns his attention to the battle that is about to begin.

Ben scratches his side idly as he thinks. Hm. Feels dry. He doesn't really care for dry too much; he should do something about that. The Buizel drops to all fours and then leaps into the air, bounding erratically around the cauldron and chattering up at the yellow-tinged clouds in the sky. Those clouds suddenly begin to thicken and bulge outward, darkening to a sinister gray and finally bursting open with chilly rain. The low fires in the cauldron hiss angrily, and steam can be seen rising from its mouth. The dust on the ground quickly turns to a slippery gruel as the rain hits it, and Ben, satisfied with his works, stops to enjoy the sensation of the cold water running down his face and back.

Hippocampus stares into space.

It takes another twenty seconds of lying uselessly on the ground with rain splashing and splattering all around him for the Slowpoke to notice the drops at all, let alone remember that he's supposed to be doing something right now. He rises (slowly), shakes a kink out of his tail (slowly), opens his mouth (slowly) and reveals a tiny ball of bright yellow energy that pulses, shudders and grows. What started as a small orb is soon a sphere the size of Hippocampus's head, floating outside of his mouth now and jerking erratically in random directions. It flies forward with a grunt from the Slowpoke and changes direction immediately, rocketing upward and then to the left, to the right, back to the left, down at an angle toward Hippocampus and then forward again, bursting with so much volatile electricity that it seems unable to make up its mind about where it wants to go. It finally settles on "right into the Buizel's stomach" and collides with Ben, who shrieks as several thousand volts course through his wet body and horrible scramble his nerves, leaving him in great pain and with less-than-ideal motor coordination. Hippocampus nods (slowly) ten seconds after Ben's agonized screams die down, belatedly satisfied with his work. And then he goes back to staring into space.

The slow-witted and slow-moving Slowpoke would normally be quite an easy target for a simple smacking with pursuit, but Ben simply cannot bring himself to move. His entire body feels like it is buzzing unpleasantly, and the buzzing quickly escalates to pain whenever he tries to sit up or stretch. Deciding that it would be best to give himself time to recover, he whimpers and remains still, looking rather forlorn in the heavy rain.

Hippocampus stares into space.

His vacant staring belies a brief spurt of mental activity, however. Slowly but steadily, the Slowpoke's brain puts out a field of psychic energy that spreads around the ruins, surrounding them in a nearly invisible dome that occasionally warps and shimmers when a stray gust of wind disturbs its surface. Were Hippocampus a bit more alert, he might notice the way the energy field makes him tingle, makes him feel... different, perhaps... faster? No, he probably wouldn't quite call the sensation "faster" in the normal sense of the word; still, he would find it incredibly odd if he cared to pay attention to it. But he doesn't; he just keeps staring at whatever nothing in particular is situated in front of him.

Ben doesn't really notice the effects of the trick room at first, either; he's too busy trying to pull himself together after the crippling shock of the zap cannon. But when the Buizel finally stands up he feels... slower? No, no... backwards, perhaps? Ben can't describe the feeling, nor is he entirely sure what caused it, but he does know that it isn't making him feel any better. Anxious to work out his compromised muscles and hopefully shake off this awkward, newer sensation, he stretches, twirls his tails again, and then turns around so that his back faces his foe; he lowers his spinning tails to the soggy ground, kicking up a spray of mud that flies in Hippocampus's direction. Hippocampus, as usual, seems entirely unconcerned with whatever Ben may or may not be doing; the flying mud does an about-face a few inches from the dopey Pokémon's nose, however, and sails right back into Ben's face. Several flecks of wet dirt and tiny grains of stone work their way into the unfortunate Buizel's eyes, and Ben yelps and scrabbles at his face. Hippocampus congratulates himself on a particularly well-timed psychic...

...and stares into space.

Ref's Notes
-You can't really "aim" Zap Cannon, as it's more or less the attack's trajectory after launch that is unpredictable, but Hippocampus got lucky and scored a hit anyway.
-Ben was fully paralyzed on the second action.
-Since Psychic was specifically directed at Mud-Slap, it did no damage to Ben on its own.
-For clarification, Hippocampus still acted second on the last action because he was told to redirect the Mud-Slap and so had to wait for it before moving.
-Due to Trick Room, Wyvern attacks first next round.

Can I ask what Pokedex you use Kratos? I've got a Platinum one up and it doesn't say Slowpoke can learn Zap Cannon (unless you're going with moves it could learn in previous generations in which case I'll stfu ^_^)

I use Veekun most of the time. Pokémon in ASB are allowed to use all moves available to them from previous generations and most special events/promotions, so Zap Cannon is a legal move for Slowpoke.

Alrighty, thanks for the clear-up =)

Ok Ben, this does not look good. Hang in there buddy, we can still win this.

Alright, we're going to hit him where it eventually hurts...his big fat belly. Go under with Dig and come up with Facade to make use of your Paralysis, then either Protect if it attacks or use Toxic if it's not. Remember it's now faster than you, so watch yourself.

Dig ~ Facade ~ Protect/Toxic

Oooh, dumb luck, how fitting. :}

Okay, start with a Safeguard, but only keep it active until the end of this round. Gotta conserve energy. Then, while Ben is underground, use Earthquake. Then use Future Sight.

Round Two: Begin

Hippocampus decides, after a few long seconds of deliberation, to ignore Ben's fitful whimpering. Leaving the Buizel to continue struggling with the dirt ground into his eyes, the Slowpoke wills a thin, golden screen of light into being around him. The translucent barrier flickers slightly as the constant rainfall strikes it, but it holds up; Hippocampus sits back when it's finished, returning his attention to nothing at all and unfocusing his eyes. Ben, to his credit, does his best to forget about his burning eyes and instead starts to attack the wet ground beneath his feet, forepaws scooping piles of earth to one side as he attempts to dig beneath the ruins. He doesn't get very far at all, however, his paralysis deciding to kick in at exactly the wrong moment and causing a spasm that pitches him forward into the mud instead. Several seconds of struggling to move his uncooperative muscles prove fruitless, and so he simply gives up and resumes whimpering.

A full minute passes before Hippocampus moves again. The Slowpoke stands, yawns, smacks his lips, stretches his long tail and then, with what seems to be a concerted effort, rears up onto his hind legs. His forelegs come down with a lot more force than one would expect of a Slowpoke, and to Ben's horror the ground around him begins to rumble and shake from the impact. Before long the very earth beneath him is bucking angrily, bouncing the sea weasel Pokémon up and down and all around quite painfully as shock waves radiate out from his once-again-uninterested foe. When the shaking finally stops Ben too lies still again; even after all of that his muscles still refuse to move properly, preventing any attack he might've wanted to execute.

After the shock of the mighty earthquake and that awful zap cannon from before Ben is feeling quite bruised and battered, and he is in no mood to take another attack like that. So when Hippocampus's vacant stare starts to glow blue, he panics and tries to muster the coordination to defend himself from whatever horrible damage is heading his way. Forming a protective forcefield proves to be too much, however, his aching and twitching distracting him and foiling his every effort to save himself from the impending onslaught. All the Buizel can do is grit his teeth, close his eyes and wait for the worst to come... but nothing happens. When he opens his eyes again Hippocampus is still just standing there in the heavy downpour, unmoving; his eyes have returned to normal and nothing seems to have happened to Ben at all. Ben sighs with relief, thankful that he was able to luck out this time. Hippocampus's attention is, of course, elsewhere. He really doesn't see the need to focus on the battle right now. He was clever this time, you know, actually preparing an attack ahead of time and turning it loose into the already scrambled flow of time. It will hit whenever it hits, and he has absolutely no reason to worry about it or the tormented Buizel for the time being. He doesn't feel the need to worry about the untested safeguard he'd set up earlier, either, simply allowing the gossamer wall of energy to fade into nothingness.

Uh-oh, this isn't looking good =S

Alright, let's try a different approach...

Since your opponent seems oblivious to basically anything around it, set up a Substitute and sneak away and try using another Pursuit. Then Facade again, we may as well keep trying to use the Paralysis to our advantage as much as possible.

Round Three: Begin

Hippocampus stands after a yawn and another lethargic stretch, his gaze, for once, actually fixed on his opponent instead of an ambiguous point over his shoulder. With a non-committal grunt that he probably assumes will suffice as a battle cry the Slowpoke gallops forward through the rain and the gravelly mud, his stubby legs allowing him to close the gap between himself and Ben at a surprisingly impressive clip. At the last second he lowers his head and, eyes aglow once more, rams into Ben's midriff and knocks the Buizel onto his back. Ben doubles over and curls up on the ground, gasping and moaning; by the time he finally picks himself up Hippocampus has already backed away and resumed staring into space. Taking advantage of the Slowpoke's perpetual distraction the battered Ben scrabbles at the ground, scooping up the soggy rubble and quickly molding it into something that, if one were feeling particularly generous, one might say resembled a Buizel. The otter-shaped pile of dirt and debris sits motionless for a moment, but after a few finishing touches and a bit of life force the creation shudders and twitches. Ben quickly disappears to parts unknown, more than happy to let his body double take a beating in his stead for the time being.

Space is still exactly the way that Hippocampus left it, so he feels confident that it won't do anything crazy while he's not paying attention and stands up again. He trots forward again, wet gravel crunching under his hooves, and then rears up when he reaches Ben's substitute. A cold, light blue aura surrounds one forefoot and he hits the substitute at its base. Other than trembling a little bit, however, the ice punch seems to have little effect. The lack-of-effect is lost on Hippocampus, who turns around and heads back several paces under the assumption that he has done his job.

Ben sighs with relief in his hiding place. How wonderful it feels to see Hippocampus take a swing and not be left in terrible pain! And now, at long last, he's going to get a chance to give a little of that pain back. His muscles, for once, are more or less cooperative, and so it is with relative ease that the Buizel reappears beside his substitute and dashes toward his foe. Sizzling dark energy roils around Ben's forepaws and he lashes out at Hippocampus's retreating rear, leaving a line of black energy burns running half the length of his tail. The force of the swipe and the pull of the dark energy jerk Hippocampus backward slightly, tripping him up; Ben has already disappeared and been safe for thirty seconds before Hippocampus notices that he had stumbled at all, and another ten seconds more before he became aware of the painful stinging sensation on his backside.

As if also startled by the presence of the darkness, the field of psychic energy surrounding the ruins shudders and warps violently. The barrier seems to melt away entirely, and Ben, in his hiding place, gives another relieved sigh. With the trick room gone he feels normal again--well, okay, closer to normal, as he is still stiff and painful, but it is a definite improvement over the indescribably awkward "backward" feeling that had come over him before.

Ben is feeling so much better, in fact, that he figures he can try another attack. The previous round, and all the irritation and humiliation that came with it thanks to this crippling paralysis, is still quite fresh in the Buizel's mind. Now that he's regained control of his limbs, at least for now, he is in a perfect position to make the Slowpoke pay. Ben pops out of his secret place and barrels forward, oblivious to the occasional slide in the mud, and throws himself at Hippocampus. A hail of furious blows, bites, scratches and slaps rains down on the psychic-type, leaving a pattern of welts and bruises across Hippocampus's back.

All of a sudden (or, rather, another ten seconds later) it occurs to Hippocampus that his back hurts. It hurts rather a lot, actually, and he turns around to see if he can find the source of his discomfort. All he can see is the substitute Buizel still sitting, mostly motionless aside from the occasional twitch, across the battlefield. Was that what had attacked him? Just to be sure, he'd better try and subdue it... Hippocampus opens his mouth as wide as it will go and lets out his most cavernous yawn yet. He can't tell whether or not this strange creature is now yawning a little itself, but he doesn't pay it much mind. Nor does he particularly care when a smaller area of psychic disturbance appears just above the substitute's head. A strange beam of pinkish light reaches down from the distortion and strikes the substitute, sloughing off several layers of gritty mud and knocking it onto its side. It lays there in the rain, almost broken, and continues to stare blankly ahead out of empty eyes.

-Since you didn't specify a size for Ben's substitute, Wyvern, I randomized it and got medium (15%).
-Attacks that require a lot of movement are difficult to perform while paralyzed, so attacks like Pursuit and Facade cost Ben an extra 1% energy.
-Future Sight struck on the third action.
-Yes, it is possible to suffer from multiple status conditions at one time.
-Trick Room has ended and restores attack order to what it should be right now, so Blastoise attacks first again next round.

Use Swift on the first action, and follow with a Belly Drum and an Aqua Tail. If he tries to block somehow, try to Swagger.

Round Four: Begin

It felt so nice not to get clobbered left and right last round, and Ben would dearly love to hang onto that lovely feeling for as long as he possibly can. Keeping his substitute in one piece for at least a little while longer would probably help, and so he tries to bound forward out of his secret hiding place and summon a protective shield in front of it. His muscles seize up at exactly the wrong moment, however, and no springing occurs. The substitute simply sits there and takes it as Hippocampus spits a barrage of bright, twinkling energy stars in its direction. The tiny stars pepper the muddy doll, finally tearing through it and causing it to fall to the wet earth in pieces. As soon as it disintegrates the struggling Ben feels himself pulled forcibly back into the normal world and dumped roughly on the ground in front of the still-steaming cauldron.

Now desperate to keep himself from meeting further harm, the Buizel opens his mouth and fires a beam of brilliant blue energy at Hippocampus's hooved feet. A thin layer of ice forms over them, but it is nowhere near substantial enough to freeze the Slowpoke to the ground. Hippocampus pulls himself free with precious little effort and rears up onto his hind legs again, supporting his weight by using his tail like a tripod. He grunts and pounds away at his chest as hard as he can; his limbs are not articulated in such a way that they really lend themselves to chestbeating, but he hammers away all the same. His grunting turns into a low, grumbling roar as he hits himself even harder, leaving his underside stinging but in general brimming with raw adrenaline and energy. Hippocampus isn't really sure he's ever felt like this before, and it's incredibly awkward. He finds that just staring at empty space isn't as interesting as it was before, that for once he doesn't know what to do with himself.

Ben bites his lip nervously. Hippocampus has already kicked his butt quite handily so far, and the last thing he needs is a Hippocampus that's actually alert and eager to do something. He spins around quickly, turning so that his backside and his two tails are facing his opponent. His tails start twirling rapidly, quickly dissolving into a blur of beige and orange. Even the blurred tails begin to fade out of view as it spins faster and faster and faster, and finally a deafening CRACKOW! rings through the air. The shockwave caused by the snapping sound rushes across the field and hits Hippocampus. The Slowpoke reacts just a few seconds sooner than he normally would now that he's more on edge than before. He shakes it off quickly, however, and strides forward with an unusual amount of purpose in his step. Water energy swirls around his long, pink tail, rain dissolving into it as it hits. With another grunt Hippocampus whips his tail around, cracking it like a whip and aiming straight for Ben's head. Even with the extra energy boost, however, Ben is able to duck out of the way before the attack hits its mark. He hits the ground and watches the aqua tail whiz by overhead, thanking his lucky stars that his muscles decidedto cooperate at just the right moment for once.

The downpour over the ruins has slowed considerably by now, and Ben sighs wearily. He doesn't feel as though he's doing too well even now; if the rain stops, he's quite certain that his mood will only sour even further. The rain has even washed the majority of the grit out of his eyes, clearing his vision. He sighs again. Rain, rain, don't go away...

Ref's Notes
-Ben was fully paralyzed on the first action.
-Aqua Tail missed.
-The rain has finally washed most of the grit out of Ben's eyes, so his accuracy is back to normal.
-Wyvern attacks first next round.

Nice dodge Ben! That's the spirit!

Alright, now it's our turn. We're going in full throttle this time, and by throttle I mean Agility. Combine that with Aqua Jet and you've got a strong combo there. While you're near him, use another Pursuit, then get out of there fast. You don't want to risk anymore damage.

Agility+Aqua Jet ~ Pursuit

Combos still count as separate attacks even if they're combined into a single action; you've got four moves in three actions as it is now. Please remove one of those attacks.
