Arena: A field in Holon

A flat, almost completely so, green, thriving field in a supposedly fictional region. Encircling where the battlers will be are odd glowing stones, of a hue of every colour imaginable. Strangely, there are only seventeen stones, though these shift colour every now and then.

There is a legend in Holon, about Pokemon that are not the types they should be, like Psychic Vileplumes or Electric Pidgeots. For a while, this has been only a legend, until such Pokemon where actually found. In Holon, this field is a national park, though small, so destruction is frowned upon, though for whatever reason, Trainers may come to battle, or watch battles here every once in a while.

Not a very smart idea, on the government's part.

Every round, there is a 80% chance of the battling Pokemon spontaneously changing types. Their weaknesses, resistances, and STAB are not the only things that change, however, the Pokemon is coated in an aura of the colour of the type they have changed into, red for Fire, for example, that has a 20% chance of doing 1% damage of whatever type the aura is on contact. These changes fade at the end of each round, though the next round there is still an 80% of a type change. What type the Pokemon changes into is up to the referee.

On the side, there is a small pond for aquatic Pokemon, about twenty feet square and seven meters deep.

Yeah, five days and seven hours, missed a word, obviously.

Five days was boring, so I decided to add another seven hours! Yes!

And crap I'm against Twitch again I'm so screwed

The Union recognizes its opponent from a previous battle; we suppose that we must fight the same foes every once and a while on the way to world domination.

We will deploy our newest fighter to the field; the curious nature of the arena should compensate for any potential elemental weakness.

All right Sarae, let's see how you fare.

Start the battle off with a Mud-slap of your own, using the damp ground left over from his waterfall. We really want to aim to reduce his vision. Follow it up with a Sand Tomb; however, if there isn't enough sand to do it, quickly switch to a Swords Dance. After that I want you to Swords Dance if you didn't do it the last action; Body Slam if you just did (mind the Rough Skin!)

The Holon field was a remote and unusual place, like most areas favoured by ASB battlers. Despite the meadow being a national park, there were no visitors today. In fact, the entire park was closed, to make sure there were no bystanders injured in the upcoming battle. Oblivious to the fact that their home would soon be invaded, Pokemon continued to browse the grassy pasture. Seventeen large, shimmering stones encircled the field, as if protecting it from intruders.

Well, they certainly didn’t protect the area from two eager trainers and a not-so-eager referee.

A droning sound was heard in the distance and a speck in the sky approached the Holon field. Rapidly it grew closer. As the helicopter began to descend, the gust created by the rotating blades blowing away a crackling Pidgey, one of the battlers shook the referee awake, who jolted up as if she had been shot. The threesome jumped off the airborne vehicle and took their places, glancing curiously at the coloured stones on the way. After garbled instructions from the referee the trainers sent out their Pokemon. Dragon sent out a Carvahna, who started circling the small pond sullenly, lamenting on how small the pool was. A small rabbit-like Pokemon materialized not far from the edge of the pond. Involuntary Twitch’s Sheebit stretched her muscular legs in preparation for the battle.

Sarae sat back on her haunches and with a cringe, braced herself for the watery impact she knew was coming. In the pond, Ed smirked; the Sheebit was an easy target. He turned swiftly in the water, coating his scales in a shimmering coat of liquid, before rocketing out of the pond to slam into Sarae’s side. The rabbit-like Pokemon rocked back from the impact, then shook her fur out irritably to rid it of moisture. Ed’s retreat to the pond was less than graceful, though: he was flopping feebly on side, gasping and slowly inching his way back to the water. Sarae saw this as a golden opportunity to scoop up some mud and throw it at the fish’s eyes. He sputtered before flailing with renewed vigour, finally plopping back into the pond after a few moments.

Ed occupied himself with swimming frantically in the small pool to rid his eyes of the debris. A few seconds of this washed away the grit, though his eyes still stung. Meanwhile, Sarae was studying the floor. There wasn’t much sand at all, just grass and a bit of mud. She shrugged and started tracing intricate patterns with her feet, her paws lightly touching the ground with astounding grace. Spinning around in two circles, she ended the ancient dance by tilting her head to the sky and letting out a low croon. A rush of power surged through her and she gave Ed a confident look that said, ‘Come and get me.’

The fish gladly obliged, using his fins to scoop some mud from the bottom of the pond. He meticulously shaped the mud into a rough spherical shape before surfacing and hurling the ball at Sarae. The attack hit its mark, spattering across the rabbit’s eyes, and she squealed. Frantically she pawed at the mud, but that didn’t help the sting in her eyes. When she finally dared to open them, her vision was blurry and her eyes watered. The attack didn’t really hurt, but the debris clouding her vision was a major nuisance.

With a vicious snarl Sarae kicked off the ground with her powerful hind legs, sending up a magnificent splash of water as she slammed into the pond, and more importantly, into Ed. Two Goldeen, glowing with a green aura, flew out of the pool as a result of the impact and proceeded to flop weakly on the ground. Ed hissed and shook Sarae off before coating his scales with iridescent water energy. Before the rabbit could even think of moving out of the way, Ed smashed into her with incredible force. Without any ground to brace herself against, Sarae tumbled backwards, crashing into the vertical wall of the pond with a bubbling cry. Hastily she resurfaced and clambered out of the water, peering over the edge of the pool to glare at her opponent. Getting thrashed about in the water had cleared up her vision, but she was positively dripping and starting to shiver. Ed wasn’t feeling the best, either; Sarae’s Body Slam had caused a few of his muscles to seize up and scream in protest whenever he moved them.

Sarae used a bit of energy to swim out of the pond.
Also, the second Waterfall caused Sarae to slam into a wall, upping the damage a teensy bit.

Good start, Sarae.

Start out with a Toxic -- should be easy to land a good hit on him, since he's paralyzed. Then take advantage of his Dark-type while you still can, and land a good Brick Break on 'im. If you missed the first Toxic, do it again. Brick break again, or if his type switched or he protects, do a Swords dance.

Toxic ~ Brick break/Toxic ~ Brick break/Swords Dance

also, switch the 'h' and 'n' in carvanha it's not carvahna~
Okay alright let's see...

You're going to be poisoned, so let's take advantage of that and return it with a Facade unless Sarae is Ghost type, and instead Refresh. Refresh if you already haven't by now. If you have, Dive unless you're Fire type, see if you can dodge that first Brick Break. Surface after the second and attack~

If you had to Refresh on the second action, Waterfall on the last, instead.

As soon as the referee waved her flags to signal the start of round two, there was a barely audible sigh and the seventeen stones began shuffling their colours crazily. Eventually eight of them settled on a light blue, and another eight on a milky white. The remaining stone skipped between the two colours indecisively. Ed was surrounded with a bluish-white aura, but he was too busy struggling with his protesting muscles to notice. Likewise, Sarae became engulfed in a translucent creamy aura. Unlike Ed, though, she took note of the unexpected change and squeaked in surprise.

While curiously watching the pulsating energy around her opponent, Sarae began to mix a noxious potion. She drew some less-than-healthy substances from her body into her mouth, swirling the concoction around until she was sure that the fusion was well-blended. Trying not to gag, she leaned over the surface of the pond and spat the Toxic at Ed, who just happened to be at the surface. The piranha shrieked as well as a fish can shriek and immediately rocketed around the pond several times, shaking off the toxins, but it was too late: the fast-acting poison had already crept through his scales and into his bloodstream. To make matters worse, the sludge he had scattered while frantically swimming around had mixed with the water, turning it the faintest hue of purple.

Ed’s expression darkened. Not only had the stupid rabbit poisoned him, she had dirtied his clean water! He literally breathed that stuff. The more he thought of the suffering Sarae had caused him, the angrier he got, until he was actually vibrating with rage. With a yell he jumped out of the water, teeth gnashing – and that was as far as he got before his muscles locked up. Ed ended up right in front of Sarae’s paws, too stiff to even flop around. He settled with glaring at his opponent. If looks could kill, Sarae would no doubt be reduced to a bloody pulp by now.

As it was, the rabbit-like Pokemon only grinned at the helpless fish at her feet before drawing back a paw, clenching it and imbuing it with fighting-type energy. Ed squeezed his eyes shut and braced himself for the shattering blow, but even so he couldn’t bite back a hiss as the paw struck down on his side. A bit of the whitish glow surrounding Sarae’s paw peeled off to lash at Ed, but the slight sting was nothing compared to the Brick Break. The spot where the attack had impacted radiated pure agony and his urge to rip off Sarae’s head increased twofold. He didn’t even notice when the rabbit drew her paw back, licking a spot where his bluish aura had stung her. His trainer had ordered him to Refresh, though, and a clawing sensation in Ed’s belly told him that that was probably the best choice. With a sigh he concentrated on the paralysis and poison plaguing his system. The bluish aura surrounding his body was temporarily replaced as the piranha glowed white, his natural healing abilities heightened to purge his system of status ailments. When the glow faded, Ed felt invigorated, his muscles limber and his bloodstream free of toxins.

Sarae grumbled under her breath as she watched her opponent rid himself of status conditions, more or less undoing a big chunk of her progress. Nevertheless, she obeyed her trainer’s commands and peered suspiciously at her opponent. Certainly the fish had changed type, even though the Brick Break’s effectiveness was basically the same. She shrugged and began to turn and shift her weight from paw to paw in an intricate, arcane dance once more. As it went on, her body flooded with a feeling of immense confidence and her senses were heightened: her vision was sharper, her hearing more acute. Meanwhile, Ed had managed to flop his way back in the pool and was coating his scales with water. It turned out to be harder than the first time he executed the attack, as if the bluish-white aura pushed the liquid away, but it wasn’t impossible. In a few seconds he was shooting towards Sarae again, water droplets spinning from his body. Sarae had no hope of dodging the flying fish and suffered a solid smack to her side, causing her to rock backwards and hit the ground roughly. A slight tingle where Ed had made contact told her his aura had once again lashed at him. Just as the thought crossed her mind, the stones reverted to their original colours and the glow around the battling Pokemon faded.

AAARGH GET THE HELL OUT OF THAT WATER, ED('Rashtekaresket) You can start by giving her a Waterfall if your types don't change, if they do, try.. Secret Power? After that, you can Pay her Back for being in the lead and all, unless she's become a Steel or Dark type, in which case you can just use Agility~ Finish up with another Waterfall/Secret Power, for the same reasons as before.

If at any time you're status'd, give it back with a Facade~

Wow, what elaborate commands she's giving her Pokemon, Sarae.

Start with another Brick Break. Hopefully you'll have changed type, so his Waterfall won't be as effective. After that, try a Captivate; use your (playboy) bunny wiles to distract him (men love a woman that can kick their ass. Even if those men are actually fish.) Then try, if you will, a Rock Tomb (those pretty glowing rocks around you should work nicely, don't you think?) If you feel like it's failing, though, quickly switch to Brick Break again.

Once again, before either Pokemon could make a move, the stones began to shuffle their colours so fast that anyone watching the spectacle would surely get a headache. After a few seconds half the stones were greenish-blue, while the other half were a pinkish-purple. Ed was enveloped in an aquamarine aura and suddenly felt the absurd urge to roar and flap his non-existent wings. At the same time, a fuchsia glow touched the water as Sarae became enveloped in the same colour.

Noting the curious, pulsating energy surrounding him, Ed decided that he had indeed changed type. But his trainer ordered him to ‘get the hell out of the water’ before attacking… The piranha shivered at the thought of flopping about on the ground again, but he pushed his fears out of his mind and steeled himself for a magnificent jump.

On the shore, Sarae was debating on how to attack Ed with a Brick Break when he was still in the water. She could jump in, but that would make her a sitting duck for his own attacks – ahhh. With a throaty roar and splash, a roughly spherical shape rocketed out of the water in a streak of blue, red, and yellow. Ed’s landing was far less spectacular, though, and by the time Sarae had trotted up to him, he was working his gills desperately to draw what oxygen he could from the air. The Sheebit gave a smirk before clenching a paw and bringing it down hard on Ed’s gill. Evidently she had hit a particularly tender spot: the piranha immediately began thrashing about in pain and his eyes, filled with agony and worry, rolled to the general direction of his gills. Sarae didn’t come away unscathed, however: the blue-green aura around Ed had lashed at her when she executed her attack. Ed took no notice and hissed, drawing natural power from the area around him, the force gathering in his open maw and turning into a lime colour. His eyes narrowed into a glare right before the light green orb in Ed’s mouth shot forward in a compact beam, hitting Sarae full on in the face. The light of the attack blinded her momentarily and she squeaked in pain and surprise. Unbeknownst to her, some of the chartreuse colour turned purple before seemingly sinking into her skin.

As the beam died down, Sarae felt a burning claw dig into her insides and winced. She didn’t dwell on it, though, and forcing all protests about her commands, sat back on her haunches with her paws tucked underneath her. She opened her eyes wide, trying to look as unthreatening as possible, and squeaked flirtatiously to get Ed’s attention. And get it she does: the piranha looked in her direction, his expression close to one of wonder. Sarae resisted the urge to scoff at how easily he fell for her feminine superiority. However, when the Sheebit turned her back on Ed for a moment, the fish glared suspiciously at her. First she was pounding away at him in all sorts of excruciating ways, and now she was Mrs. Nice Person? He shrugged and flopped his way to Sarae’s side before lacing his body with a black aura. When his form was completely shrouded by the dark-type energy, he pounded haphazardly at the Sheebit’s body, using fins, teeth, everything he had at his disposal. Sarae squealed in shock and hastily backed away from the raging fish, but the blows were rather half-hearted, the aura not as wounding since nothing had dealt it harm. However, the black energy bit sharply at the pinkish-purple aura around her, causing her to wince and cringe periodically.

As Ed’s onslaught died, the fish resuming his frantic gill-flapping, Sarae looked around her. The glowing stones seemed to be good candidates for a Rock Tomb, but when she extended her supernatural powers she found that they were rooted deep into the ground. Meanwhile, Ed had been charging another yellow-green beam in his mouth. This time, though, the energy wasn’t as intense since part of his concentration was spent studying his opponent’s features. She’s actually kinda cute, Ed thought, even as he let the beam fly and slam into Sarae’s side. The rabbit-like Pokemon squealed in surprise and focused on the firmly packed ground underneath Ed, intending to rip apart the ground to encase the fish in the earth.

Suddenly, a red flag flew through the air and bonked Sarae on the head. She squeaked in surprise, and losing her concentration for the attack, glared at the referee. The Sheebit then raised her paw in preparation for another Brick Break, but the referee cut her off with a reiteration of the arena’s rules as well as some random rules that nobody cared about. All in all, the tedious monologue took up close to ten minutes.

Not our best show, Sarae, but you did the best you could given the circumstances.

I want you to use that attack boost to the best of your advantage and beat him senseless, before poison or whatever tricks he tries to pull start to show. So. Body Slam, or Brick Break if he becomes any type that is weak to fighting (ice, rock, steel, normal, and dark) or if he doesn't change type at all. If he protects or hides at any point, try a focus energy. If you're already pumped and he protects/dodges again, then, heck, try a Sandstorm and see where that gets us.

These orders may sound complicated, but that's what you'll do each action, so that's all you'll need to remember.

3x Body Slam/Brick Break/Focus Energy/Sandstorm

no counter or mirror coat for carvanha wuuuuut

Alright, go go go Brine! hahaha

After that, WAIT FOR HER and then use Payback, and then Brine again. If Sarae becomes something weak to Water moves, replace Payback with Brine, and if Sarae becomes weak to Dark moves, replace the Brines with Payback. Wait for her to attack first, for your Payback(s)!

Brine/Payback~Payback/Brine~Brine/Payback

And then laugh or something.

As the referee waved her remaining flag to signal the start of the fourth round, both Pokemon looked nervously at the glowing rocks. They were still changing colour, yes, but as the seconds passed and no weird aura surrounded either of the battlers, they glared at each other once more. Ed’s stare softened slightly as he unintentionally started studying Sarae’s soft coat again. On the other hand, Sarae’s eyes glazed over slightly as she struggled to comprehend her trainer’s commands. Body Slam, Brick Break, Focus Energy, Body Break, Brick Energy… Blahhhhh! With a cry of frustration Sarae sank down to the ground, at a complete loss of what to do.

Ed felt a twinge of sympathy as the Sheebit howled in irritation, but focused on his attack, if not a bit less than before. The piranha’s cheeks swelled to a comically large size as he drew water from unseen stores in his body. It was no ordinary water, though: Ed had also extracted salts from his blood to dissolve in the liquid, and even he cringed at the extraordinarily salty taste. With a grimace Ed flopped a bit closer to Sarae and spat the water at her in a jet of high-pressure liquid. She squealed and shied away from the wet onslaught, then outright shrieked as the salt wormed its way into her wounds and aggravated the pain. Eventually the stream of water died away and the Sheebit shook out her dripping coat with a cringe.

By now, though, Sarae had gotten a grip on her orders and was determined to exact revenge on the nasty piranha. She curled her paw into a small fist, imbuing it with brownish energy. Upon seeing the now-familiar preparations for a Brick Break, Ed’s eyes widened and he desperately tried to flop away, but Sarae caught up with him easily. She brought her fist down on the escaping fish, who stopped flipping away and started writhing in pain instead. Ed screeched in pain, attempting to rub the spot where he was struck with a fin. Gradually he became enveloped in a pitch-black aura as he focused on the agony the Sheebit had caused him. It wasn’t fair! Targeting his weaknesses like that, using the same move over and over again. It was about time he turned the tables. With a vicious snarl Ed thrashed suddenly, catching Sarae on the side of her head with his tail fin. He didn’t stop there, though, and proceeded to pound her with surprisingly strong fins as well as using his sharp teeth to gnaw on a foreleg. She screeched and attempted to shake off the raging fish, but Ed stubbornly held on, thrashing at the Sheebit all the while. Eventually he became too tired to keep up the assault, but it was clear that Sarae was feeling the blows: the rabbit-like Pokemon backed away from Ed, licking her foreleg where he had sunk his teeth in.

Ed’s euphoria was short-lived, though, as Sarae once again clenched a paw and staggered towards the fish. He could do nothing but squeeze his eyes shut and take the attack like a man – er, fish – but that didn’t make the Brick Break any less painful. The Carvanha would certainly be sporting many bruises after the battle.

Trying to ignore his throbbing body, Ed once again drew salty water from hidden stores in his body. As the piranha’s cheeks swelled with the sheer volume of the liquids, Sarae flinched and turned her head away from her opponent. That was all she could do before Ed squirted the stinging fluids at her, and even then the force of the attack threatened to knock her to the ground. The salt in the water found its way into her wounds once more, and she barely bit back a yell. As the last drop of water left Ed’s mouth, Sarae felt a painful twinge in her belly and knew that the poison was running rampant in her system. The repeated barrages, both outside and inside her body, had started to wear away her consciousness, and she could hardly stay on her paws.

Suddenly, a gruff, awkward sound rang through the air. Ed was lying on the ground, his body shaking, and a strange noise that couldn’t really be described as a laugh escaping from his mouth. He randomly pointed a fin at a Pidgeot flying by and laughed some more, prompting it to glare at him.

Twitch, the rules say that 3 conditionals are the maximum, but since that’s all that Sarae had to do, I only had her confused for the 1st action.
Repetitive attacks are repetitive :/
Oh, and I had fun making Ed laugh at something. You should give that command more.

..Ed?

Alright, lessee wut we can do. Um.. gogogo Aqua Jet! If she protects or she's still alive after two actions, well.. Double Team (three clones) then Chill.

If you've KO'd her, laugh epically at something, if you haven't yet, uh, laugh epically.

We still have energy left, so let's make use of it.

Rest. Much as I hate that technique, it can save us this round. Then Sleep Talk. Then just Chill while he does.

This round, it seemed like the battlers wouldn’t be safe from the field’s bizarre effects. The stones started shuffling their colours yet again, until seven settled on a bright red-orange and another seven turned a pure, deep sapphire. Ed was encased in a red glow, Sarae in a blue. However, the Pokemon were used to the constant type changes by now, and didn’t even blink when their vision was temporarily swamped with coloured light.

Even before his vision cleared, Ed snapped his head back and let loose a stream of incredibly high pressure water. Despite being a rather heavy fish, the force was so incredible that he was literally picked up from the ground and carried towards Sarae at unbelievable speed. The Sheebit didn’t even have the time to react before Ed slammed into her. Granted, the attack wasn’t the most powerful she had experienced, and to top it off her new elemental affinity made the Aqua Jet little more than a tickle. Shrugging off the light blow, she curled into a comfortable sleeping position and fell into a deep and unnatural slumber. While she slept, Sarae’s immune system went into overdrive, using a massive amount of energy to repair the damage accumulated throughout the battle and to flush out the toxins in her body. However, the colossal energy cost for the curing nap just pushed the Sheebit over the edge, and after a few seconds of peering at Sarae’s form, the referee raised her flag and declared Ed the victor.

The piranha, still flopping on the wet ground, immediately broke out in deep, resounding laughter that seemed to shake the ground. All three humans stopped to stare at the crazed Ed, who clearly took this as a sign of encouragement and laughed even harder. After a few moments, Involuntary Twitch shook her head in wonder and recalled her fainted Pokemon. When Ed showed no signs of stopping his insane chuckles, the referee chucked her remaining flag at the fish, who immediately shut up.

Ed turned into a Fire-type this round, while Sarae turned into a Water-type.
Sarae used slightly more energy to cure to poison with Rest, which coincidentally just took her energy down to 0%. Ah well. The Sleep Talk after would’ve knocked her out anyway.

We all make mistakes. The Union will not foolishly sacrifice another. We choose Phanel as our next fighter.

Begin with covering your defenses with a Reflect, then Shock Wave twice unless your opponent has changed to a Ground-type, in which case switch to Energy Ball.

That's two experience points and four altogether when our other battle's done, so that's an evolution for you, Master Shark~ Good work, you, though you're supposed.. to be.. kind of serious.. umnevermind.

BWAHAHA HAHA HA
HA

Okay we are so screwed without a healing moooove so let's start with DARK PULSE if you two stay the same type and a Toxic otherwise, unless he's Poison type in which case go with.. ICY WIND YES. Use Toxic if it failed and he's not Poison type, if it worked or he is go go Icy Wind! Yeah! Finally, I want you to Payback whatever is getting thrown at you, if you're still alive.

Hang in there as long as you can, Ed~

Um.. calm down a bit, you're going to evolve, so. My commands would be easier to understand if I shut up with the commentary but it's so damn fuuun
