Killing Floor -Or, Monsters Gone Wild: Britannia Style
What is Killing Floor?
Killing Floor is a cooperative first-person shooter experience that puts a team of specialists against waves of monstrous specimens that increase in number and strength. The specialists must employ a wide variety of weapons to survive, most of which are enhanced in some way by perks, which provide a consistent feel of progress and character development.
Okay, but what is Killing Floor really?
A bunch of British guys shooting monsters while a black woman spouting innuendo sells them bigger guns.
How can I play Killing Floor?
First, you'll need to have a computer mostly comprised of parts made in the last five years. After that, you can purchase it in most retail outlets. The preferred method of acquiring Killing Floor is through Steam, and today only it is priced at a more than reasonable five USD. Otherwise it's twenty.
Okay, how does this game go down?
Basically, you and your team (usually five other players) will fight off waves of specimens that will do their best to kill you. In between waves, you'll visit a woman known only as the trader who will sell you weapons, armor, and other necessities.
What are those "perks" about? Is this a CoD4 ripoff?
Not quite! "Perks" in Killing Floor are essentially what other games refer to as "classes" or "professions". Your currently-selected perk will enhance various weapons in various ways, such as faster reloads and increased damage. While only one perk is active at a time, all perks can be levelled at any time. For example, healing your teammates will always add to your Field Medic perk, regardless of what perk you have active.
Fuck, this game is hard!
Killing Floor didn't go from mod to retail game by being a walk in the park. In this thread those interested can feel free to voice their questions regarding the higher mechanics of the game.
