It seems like you've been walking through this stupid Veilstone mall forever. Endless weaves and lengths of utterly pointless clicky-heel flooring are making you kind of sick of your own vague reflection. Well, you'd probably be more tired of the shops – but you stopped really looking at them around the time you saw the seventh bloody grooming shop. Why do your Pokémon need to be so damn groomed anyway? Their fur or whatever would just fall out. So stupid. You frown and wonder whether it's a better idea to just pack up and go home until you look over to your right and see what is possibly the most curious shop you've seen so far, and you stop in your tracks.
It's saturated in a deep velvet purple colour, from the sign at the top to the overhanging silky drapes, swirled with gold thread, cloaking the entrance to the hint of plush carpet at the bottom. It makes you feel a bit cheap for just looking at it. The lettering across the sign above reads 'Deluxe Pokémon Emporium' in fancy, old-style calligraphic lettering. Huh. At least it's not a grooming parlour, right?
You push back the drapes and enter. Your eyes are immediately assaulted by what appears to be the most expensive shop you've ever been in – the walls are plastered with mahogany shelves, each lined with gleaming Luxury Balls behind panes of glass. Despite the dark purple exterior the interior is very clean and white, with only the carpet the same colour as before. The dark brown wood contrast against the white makes your eyes ache a little, but you persevere. There's a counter in the middle of the shop; behind it, a young girl (possibly in her late teens) is sitting, filing her nails and looking at you with what must be one of the most frighteningly dead looks you've ever seen. You open your mouth to say something, but she starts first.
“Hello, welcome to the Deluxe Pokémon Emporium, where there are hundreds of stupid Shellders that keep biting your hands and breaking your nails,” she sighs, putting down her nail file and beckoning you to come closer with an impatient snap of her fingers. “Come on, I can't hear you from over there. I'm deaf in one ear, you know. So inconsiderate.”
You take her advice (although still feeling a little offended, seeing as you haven't said anything yet) and come closer, glancing down at the glass-topped counter, underneath seeing glittering evolution stones of every colour and shape. The attendant snaps her fingers at you again and you jump.
“It's $6 for one Pokémon, and $3 for each stone. Of course, you've got more of a chance of getting a shiny Pokémon, so it's not like we're ripping you off...” she pauses thoughtfully. You find this explanation less than satisfactory, but you don't mention it (you kinda want one of those pretty Pokéballs...). “So, what's it going to be? No refunds.”
for the lazy; $6 will net you a Pokémon, and very occasionally an item. You do have a slightly higher chance of getting a shiny than in other places, but not by much. $3 gets you a random item, but do be warned that some of the items aren't exactly useful. The following list is NOT comprehensive, by the way. You might find something cool!
