French PAL game on NTSC system?

So, I have a French game. The game itself should be in French. The cover is in French, the instructions are in French, and I was promised that all the text would be in French.

However, when I play it on my American Gamecube (using Action Replay), it is only in English!

Apparently, there is some option to change the language on PAL Gamecubes. I'm guessing this is the only way to put the game in French. However, my Gamecube is American and doesn't offer this option and once I put the game in there's no option to change the language.

Can anyone help me with this? I was really looking forward to playing this game in French and if it's just in English there's really no point. :/
 
What game are you trying to play?

I don't think they'd intentionally remove the language settings on an American GameCube.
