Wow, Smogon clearly posted that legal hacks are okay so long as it is announced beforehand (F***; that means I created an unneccessary fiasco). LOL!

Thanks for the post. The issue was resolved a long time ago and the comment you posted pretty much summarized their comments towards me. :p

I was looking for this when I was going to answer you but didn't remember where I found it...

"Legitimate" is a word that people in the Pokemon community throw around when they want to make themselves feel better about obtaining data in a more difficult manner. (Codr from ProjectPokémon)

So basically, in the world of Pokémon, anything goes as long as your Pokémon pass legality checks. If you're still going to train your Pokémon in a legitimate way, I suggest getting an AR and looking around for codes that allow you to see IVs/EVs in-game, because taking note of how many EVs your Pokémon has can be frustrating!

I also don't get this thing with "shiny hunts", a shiny Pokémon is a completely random event, how can you hunt shinies? 0.o The only games in which you can "hunt" shinies are the ones with the PokéRadar (DPPt).

How I wish I had an Action Replay back in the GSC days, would've made my life so much easier...

Hey, I use AR too and there's nothing to be ashamed of. I bet most of the hardcore Smogoners use it too because, well, it just takes too much time to breed a whole team of competitive Pokémon, even with the benefits GF gave us over the years.

Smogon also supports RNG manipulation, which, while not messing with the game in the same way AR does, is still manipulation. Strictly speaking, it's as much "wrong" as using AR codes.
