• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Homosexuality

Homosexuality is living proof that perfection does not exist. While I find the concept of ''normal'' to be dispicable, homosexuality is a freakish mutation. However, as technology advances at a rapid rate every day, the cure may be found. Science always finds a way.

It should be banned everywhere. We cant have such rotten things corrupting the minds of our youth, and the generations to come.

I dont even know what the hell that is, so Im not commenting.

In other news, I just heard Gordon Borwn had issued a formal apology to Alan Turing a couple of days ago. 'bout fifty years too late but oh well, better than nothing.
ooh they mentioned that in school. poor guy, apparently he started growing breasts because of the hormones they used to castrate him. D:

i don't see what Al Gore has to do with Turing tho'.

Just quoted the Al thing because, well, kind of shows further proof of the guy being slighty challenged.

But yeah, what happened to Turing is awful and I'm glad something's being done about it, albeit far too late. I think a posthumous Knighthood wouldn't be innapropriate.

This is really kind of late but... :V

I only skimmed over the discussion of the last couple of pages but as I read, I remembered one argument I've heard, which I think is a really good point... It might have been mentioned already so slap me if it was.

Why should we base what we can and cannot do on what is "natural" and what is "unnatural", anyway?

I mean, look at all the technology and advances we've made over the years. Are those "natural"? If from the very beginning we acted as natural as any other creature we probably wouldn't be where we are today, with our life expectancy and quality of life as high as it currently is. I find the "this is natural/unnatural" argument is mostly used selectively, against something that the person using such an argument already doesn't like anyway for some other reason (like, it being said in some old archaic book that it's bad or something).

That said, I don't think it should matter whether homosexuality is "natural" or "unnatural" (although it's leaning towards "natural" if you really look beyond the short-sighted "it doesn't make babies happen!!1"), choice or not a choice. You should have that freedom.

I’d just like to say here, one person’s view of natural can be one person’s view of unnatural. Let’s take, ooh, I dunno, Khmer Rouge for example? Their view on agrarian socialism was meant to be returning Cambodia to nature, but at what cost? And who the hell are we to decide what is natural or not?

I invariably hate the people who discriminate against anybody who doesn’t fit the norm, anybody who isn’t the same as them. It’s like the slavers to black people, or the Nazis to the Jews. If being gay is a ‘disease’ or a ‘defect’, then how do you catch it? And why hasn’t it been eradicated? Who are we to say ‘you can’t fall in love, because your lover isn’t of the opposite gender’? It’s tyrannical, oppressive, and dictatorial. People need to look at themselves, and think ‘who are the people at fault here?’ Because in my view, I don’t think it’s the gays.

Now THIS is how you argue your side. :|

if you weren't being sarcastic, then thanks :)

It's just something I get very passionate about, because nobody seems to understand that the only reason homophobia exists is because idiots who take everything at face value call it unnatural because it's different. It bugs me how people are assumed straight at birth, and have to come out; can you imagine if you were assumed gay and had to come out as being straight?

i don't really understand homosexuality, but I don't see any reason that gay marriages shouldn't be allowed. I guess marrying them in a church doesn't really fit with the whole christian thing, but you don't have to get married in a church any more...

i don't really understand homosexuality,
there's not really anything to "understand"?

some guys like guys and some gals like gals (and some guys and gals like both guys and gals) in the just the same why as some guys like gals and some gals like guys.

yeh I know what it is - I just can't ever imagine feeling that way...

it's not important anyway

k, you know that feeling you get when you see a hot girl? substitute "hot girl" for "hot guy" and that's what homosexual feelings are like.

it's not like gays have some weird mystic voodoo crap that makes getting the hots for your own gender magically different from normal hetero horniness.

unless you just meant "oh i can't imagine being gay myself" which is fine and dandy.

don't think this way! there are plenty of churches all for samesex marriage; the United Church of Canada, for example.

Also, marriage in church isn't really a purely Christian institution, is it? I mean, everybody does it. Atheists, liars, thieves, murderers and sinners of all other kinds... I don't see why gays should be the exception.

I'm sure there would be a lot more gays.

And I wasn't being sarcastic :}
