Agreed. One of my best friends did, until I found out. Needless to say she's no longer my friend.
I never noticed it until last year, but since then (and quite a bit more just recently) that song really makes me mad, and not just because she faked it - right now she's freakig out over blasphemy when she's the one faking bisexuality. Not that I care, I'm atheist. xP
Though I've only ever liked one guy (as in an emotional connection), I think it's fair enough for me to say I like him enough I would die for him. And for my best female friend.... Me and her both agree that we're basically together, but when we officially tried to go out it was a pain in the ass because she's saying "this won't last" behind my back while I'm obsessively grilling my friends to find out what she said.
The sad parts are that I've only just come out of a shell of antisocialness. I've never even hugged anyone before! o_O Aside from family of course.
Then again, all of this may just be another part of my psychotic self.
I hate emotions. -____-
But I said before and I will say a million times over, I am proud of who I am. Being bi or gay/lesbian is a great thing, it isn't freakish or disgusting or anything.
*rantrantrant* xP

^ even worse than people who say we lie it to be cool is the ones who legitimately do. they make the rest of us look really fuckin' bad (this is why i do not care how catchy I Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry is, i still refuse to ever listen to it) by being pathetic themselves. the sad thing about the stereotype of "bisexual people are total whores who are faking it just to be cool" is that there are far too many people who actually do fake it just to be cool and it pisses me off whenever i see one
I FUCKING HATE THAT SONG WITH THE WHITE HOT INTENSITY OF A THOUSAND SUNS.

And oh my god agreeing so hard
I was bullied and pretty much harassed for years for being bi and then suddenly it's cool and no one cares.
Said it a million times in this thread but still. It's one of the things I hate the most.

I'm not sure what to make of you
hmmm

the bold bit however
it's not any better or worse than being heterosexual or anything-else-sexual
sure, I like being who I am, but I don't brag about it or anything, it's only preferences
if someone was all YEAH I LOVE BEING STRAIGHT you'd probably have issues with them wouldn't you

Hi. :D

I can understand not being ashamed of who you are, just like some people are ashamed when they find out they're gay/bi/trans/whatever, be it coinciding with their religion or any other reason. But being proud? There's nothing to really be proud of. Being all giggly and happy when you have crushes I can understand, but you say it's a great thing and not wrong in any way, which is true, but it's not special, so therefore nothing to be proud of. I'm not proud of being straight, it's just who I am.

Gay pride festivals look like a lot of fun, but it seems more like they're trying to make a statement that there are lots of them and they're normal, rather than saying "we're proud of something we have no control over". Jolty put it better, he's right, there's nothing to brag about; LGBT people had to go through years of pain to be accepted for who they are and be trated as normal, so we shouldn't try and big them up as being greater or special because that's not good either.

I probably had more to say but if I did I forgot it because I got a phonecall. Aaaand I have to go now so this can't be much longer anyway.

being proud of your sexuality is like being proud that you have blue eyes or ten fingers. you should be proud to be who you are, but your sexual preferences do not make you special.

Gay pride marches are organized precisely because too many people are ashamed of being who they are. They are supposed to make a statement, because homosexuality is still considered abnormal by most of the world's population and it still warrants the death penalty in some countries.
Until gay marriage is legalized everywhere, I see no issue with pride marches, and they also serve as a safe place where people can just have fun. Here, you have the march for about three hours and then a two-day party, and it's great fun :v

There are 'straight pride marches' but those are as retarded as any white pride events because straight people haven't had to go through hundreds of years of suffering and mocking, with said suffering and mocking still continuing today. It just... doesn't make any fucking sense and they know it.

they should have an "i'm lgbt but i honestly don't care that much that i am it's just really who i am so i'm sort of used to it" pride parade. i could get in on that.

on one hand i can see why a gay pride parade is nice it's just a fun place for people to get together and have a gay old time (lolol c wut i did thar) and so i'm cool with that.

but i also just don't like the idea of "i'm proud to be gay" because i think it's stupid to be proud of something which you have no control over. i like the idea of a big old place for all the gays to be gay and have fun and all that, i just also don't like when people flat-out say "i'm proud to be gay". i consider it different things to be cool with being gay and not being ashamed of it, and to flat out be proud of it. if that makes sense idk

Zim lol, you are now my hero.

I don't get it. I personally am friends with a lot of GLBT people, and they are all good people, and they tell me what they've gone through, losing friends, losing family, one friend was even removed from a church congregation. I just don't understand how someone would think it is cool. Attention needy...*mumbles* It's an insult. You shouldn't have to fake your sexuality to be cool. You're sexuality is who you are , and it shouldn't be faked. Last time I checked it was cool to be yourself.

Yeah, my ex turned out to be one of these. He seems to fluctuate between every sexuality at least four times a month, from what I've heard. Except he cheated on me with some girl or other for sex and then, after leaving me, went out with said girl and another at the same time! Lovely chap.

As for the whole pride thing - I wouldn't exactly call myself 'proud' but, you know, I'm happy that I'm able to be open about being gay and whatnot without being discriminated against (much - there is this one guy who alternates from huddling in a corner whenever he sees me screaming "GET THE FUCK AWAY" like I'm going to rape him or simply walking into me in some curious show of aggression); I probably wouldn't attend a festival actively (I mean sure I might tag along but I wouldn't be at the front being all "I <3 <3ING MEN").

He's gay.

Honestly, pride parades are pretty different within themselves. Sure, you have people who use it as an opportunity to dress up and dance to Lady Gaga, but you also have people with kids, parents supporting their children, political activism, lots and lots of left-wing parties campaigning (we had the Socialist Party bus and the Ecolo touring bar as the most popular ones), etc. It's called Pride because 'contentment with who you are' parade sounds shitty as hell but it's not really a fourth reich master sexuality rally or anything, haha.

Personally, I'm 100% okay with how current parades are but I wouldn't mind a bit if we went back to the more serious 'marches' of the early gay rights years. You have to remember that these originated because being gay forty years ago was Hell. However, it's a good sign if we can allow ourselves to be less political and be more silly about it.

classy.

one friend was even removed from a church congregation.

29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

i love how many christians just totally ignore these verses whenever a couple of really vaguely worded poorly translated ones about buttsecks are involved.

Last time I checked it was cool to be yourself.

that'd be pretty nifty, but instead it's totally cool to be bi when you aren't and totally uncool to be bi when you are

I think the entire church is guilty of this one.

We were in Theology class one day and somehow we got on the topic of gay marriage and my teacher said that the church doesn't accept gay marriage but civil unions are fine.

I definitely heard civil unions being defined as granting the couple all the benefits of marriage without the name.

Oh, and as far as the church is concerned, without the freedom to sleep with your significant other.

And on that note, I love how the church is all "you should accept gays, they're people too :D" ...and deny them the right to get married.

(On a similar topic, hey Pennsylvania be awesome and legalize gay marriage, I think my cousin and her girlfriend have been together long enough)

civil union = separate-but-equal = unconstitutional (in us), but it's still ok to do it anyway because they're gay and not black

can anybody explain the logic behind forbidding gays to openly serve in the military? like i at least understand the incredibly flawed logic behind why they, in some places, can't donate blood (THEY'LL GIVE IT AIDS), or adopt (KIDS NEED MOMMY + DADDY IT DOESNT WORK), or marry (GOD SAYS NO), but i legit have no idea what the flawed reason even is behind why they can't serve in the military (they might think that middle eastern guys are sexy and... switch sides.. or something?). can anyone please explain to me why anyone ever opposes the right of gays to serve in the military? because i seriously don't get it

I was trying to figure that out yesterday as well.

I'm thinking maybe cause some idiot homophobe's afraid of getting hit on/raped by a guy while on duty.
