I'm new here and I'm hoping to get as many wise forums such as yourself to teach me the ropes of these fine forums so i can become a better contributor. I was hoping you could be my mentor in some way. That way, I can learn from one of the most experienced members and become a better member! Please respond with your response

I was going to blame myself, but then I realized that it wasn't a problem when I was putting the database together the first time since Mismagius was already a thing and I just modified the info that was already in there a bit. It's lucky I ended up deciding to modify the move tables a little a couple days ago and had my little "dear god somehow Mismagius is missing. dear god" revelation. Which was followed immediately by "fuck this I'm going to bed."

If Mismagius didn't learn lucky chant and magical leaf by heart scale, we might never have known!

So did you know... did you knoooow... that there is no 133 in the NL pokédex? It goes straight from #132 Valazman to #134 Misdreavus. This is compensated for later by the fact that both Mismagius and Sigilyph are #135, so all the numbers still work out in the end.

Juuust a quick question: how many TM's are there? The highest number learned by anything, according to the wiki, is 144 (Serene Wind). However, the Department Store sells TM146 (Avalanche). But Avalanche is currently listed as 135 on the wiki.

Also, do wild pokémon know all level-up moves up to their current level, or only the most recent X of them?

I was all confused for a second because I was like, "Wait, I thought you graduated a long time ago..." but then I realized it was the actual ceremony and stuff. Cool! Sounds like a lot of fun stuff.

I generally don't like super-bright colors on dark backgrounds either, but I'm willing to make an exception for ridiculous electric greens. I was about to say that it seems like you have an overabundance of dark skins vs light skins, but then I looked again and oops it's just that I don't like any of the light ones much. >> So yeah. Ambalchi Temple it is!

Okay, great, thanks! A moratorium on shiny starters I can sort of understand, because generally you want people to start on fairly equal footing, whereas if you give out shiny starters suddenly some people become persons of interest basically immediately because they happened to get this crazy-rare thing out of blind luck.

Yeah, I saw your little plug for the bobbit worm on the Ideadex. Definitely not as pretty as the mantis shrimp, but somehow I missed the fact that they can grow up to like 3 meters. Good Christ that is terrifying. Frikkin' ocean; no wonder we up and left all those years ago.

Ah, yeah, Memorial Day screws everything up. I hope you have a good time celebrating it however you're planning to, though!

Yeah, I was using the default theme. I didn't realize there were more, but I guess from now on I'll be using Ambalchi Temple because I love acid green way too much.

Oh well. I'm happy they're around, anyway, whether or not there's anything special going on with them. The gems in particular.

A couple little mechanics questions... For the purposes of damage calculation, is everything assumed to have perfect IV's and no EV's and a neutral nature, or some other stat combination? Can you find shiny wilds? At the usual rate? Can starters be shiny?

Also, totally went to the aquarium yesterday, and they had a pair of mantis shrimp! It was wild.

Eeee so excite. Also an example of why I would have a lot of trouble co-administrating with people; I hate waiting for other people to do things, heh.

So would this job be, like, starting immediately? I'm just curious, since I'm used to applying for things and having them start a month+ after I did any sort of application or interview involved, and I don't really know what's normal out there in the great wide real world. Anyway good luck, hope you get it!

Man, Honest Connor is shaping up to be such an entertaining guy already; I can't wait to actually see him in action.

Also, something COMPLETELY unrelated: you might want to change the default highlight color on the board to something other than white. Right now if you search you end up with your search terms getting spoiler-tagged in the results list, which is kind of annoying.

Oh, and are the plates going to be plot-relevant somehow? Or the gems? They seem to pop up as prizes quite a bit, which I find pretty interesting. I figure there's maybe a -5% chance of my getting any kind of useful answer on this, but might as well ask anyway, I suppose.

Yup, right after posting that I went and saw that in fact sky attack gets tutored onto pretty much ALL THE THINGS, although a cursory glance suggests that yes, osgrave is probably the best of those. I honestly doubt it's particularly OP, though I'm certainly going to try it out a bit. Moves that look like they're pretty terrible but conceptually could be totally cool or game-breaking draw people like me like moths to a flame, in any case. (Some day, wonder room. Some day...) I might be the only person to mess with it, but there will be at least one person!

I had a feeling that large-scale destruction probably wasn't in the works here, but how could I live with myself if I didn't at least try? I'm sure I'll come up with some way to make everyone's lives more difficult nonetheless, anyhoot.

Hmm, interesting. One way or another I definitely look forward to seeing what you come up with... soon? :D?

But does Honest Connor really unironically call himself that because oh my god most hilarious NPC.

Haha, well, at least he's honest about it. In general one can tend to look at the new stuff and pick out the things that you had a part in designing, and the things you... didn't. *cough* But yeah, you're definitely right that it's not anything worth fighting about. (The fact that it's universal, though, yeah. I'll need to look over the actual move list again sometime, but I feel that it might be kind of ridiculously powerful? "Hello I am sky attack x5 have a good day." But I don't know if anything learns sky attack atm.)

Oh I totally ran the analysis and I will take those wussy dinosaurs you have no idea. They will quake before my adorable baby gryphon and its unevolved friends. It'll force me onto a somewhat suboptimal journey path to hit that gym first, but no backing down from a challenge. I like to play my games on XTREME mode anyway; I can afford not to be a munchkin for a little while.

Irredeemable chaos is good! The whole point of RP is to have other people totally throw wrenches into what you were trying to do. I welcome all of the chaotic nonsense you can possibly cause! (On a semi-related note, I am disappoint that you inadvertently nerfed my original plan, which was to burn my birthday promo for a caslot, full-speed-ahead to Dia City, request a trainer battle, and then say, "Now... you shall metronome. >D" Now I don't know what to use my promo on. >>)

Oh, interesting. Somebody you came up with for another story as well, or just a pure RP-character idea? I don't think I've heard of him before.

Haha, I never even came close to finishing Wind Waker. I think in my case a large part of the issue is that I, apparently unlike every other gamer, actually liked the huge overworld and having to sail places all the time. I pretty routinely went, "Screw the storyline, I want to sail around for four hours grabbing treasure and running around tiny atolls!" and then yeah that never got done. I watched most of my brother's playthrough, though.

Ahaha, yeah, I imagine everything about TM/HM list management is terrible. I think showcasing the new TM's is definitely cool, anyway; I would probably preferentially pick gyms that gave out new ones over gyms that gave out old ones just for novelty's sake, if there was a mixture. I imagine it must be a little frustrating to have to work other people's sometimes... creative... stuff into your region now and again, though. (Whoever decided that "neutral gin" was a good name for anything, just, what. I don't even.)

Oh don't you even tempt me I will totally zoom over to that seventh gym immediately and kick some deathosaurus butt if you make it sound like a challenge.

Mmm, yeah, I definitely like burungin the best out of the fire-types and bossorna best out of the grass-types, and bossorna could really use some love... I could see all three of them on my team, except for the part where that would never happen. As it is I figure whatever I end up with is bound to be "what is type balance" anyway. But whatever you decide to go with, we should definitely have our characters get together and irritate each other sometime!

Omg is the other character you're talking about Virgil? Because that would be the most amazing thing ever, really. Even if you can't justify playing him as a main character you could always put him in as an NPC or something; I'm going to be dropping in a couple expies of my own along the way, because I haven't tortured them enough yet I guess.
