• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Rollout. And those Hone Claws, I think. But good battle, Lucas!
  2. Whirlpool

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

If he Protects and it works, be creative and Ice Punch the ground or something to break the ~monotony of Fire Punches and Chills~. Otherwise, Fire Punch. Fire Punch/Ice Punch (x3)

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Substitute (10%) ~ Fire Punch ~ Fire Punch

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Confusion in ASB can either fail an attack or cause recoil. Notes say the confusion went away, but not sure about the paralysis. Pop back into the land of the living (i.e. phase inand Fire Punch (x3) spam. Do try to avoid that Rocky Helmet (sacrifice normal priority if you have to). If he...

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Let's blow that Haze away with an Ominous Wind, then phase deep enough into the ground to avoid that Thunderbolt. Chill (x2) underground to try to lighten up the confusion (and paralysis). Ominous Wind ~ Chill ~ Chill

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

I'm going to go against my better judgement and send out Wisp against a Steel-type (again). Well. I really dislike those stat boosts, so Haze them away. Will-O-Wisp until it works; if she Protects, Sunny Day. Finish with a Fire Punch; if she Protects, Substitute (10%). Haze ~ Will-O-Wisp/Sunny...

Thunder Wave didn't work? Bind ~ Zap Cannon ~ Zap Cannon

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Oh, just wondering about what moves to use. Thanks.

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Do you use base stats (as described by Kratos) in your damage totals? Thunder Wave, then Rock Smash (x2). If he Protects, Shift Gear and move everything down an action. Thunder Wave/Shift Gear ~ Rock Smash/Shift Gear/Thunder Wave ~ Rock Smash/Shift Gear

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

In all fairness, all three of us are refs (and have been for at least a month or two, I think), so, frankly, I'm surprised it only got caught now. Also, I only remembered after I saw Klink's hovering sprite in Black. Flash Cannon (x3), but if you feel a wave of confusion coming on, Chill...

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Somehow I forgot this, but Klink is an inherently hovering Pokémon, so Earthquake misses, along with all other ground-type moves. So, uh, I have ~35% more health right now (50% if you count the Earthquake before).

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Flash Cannon (x3) spam, because paralysis really isn't worth it now. If she tries to use Sandstorm (which it almost certainly isn't), Metal Sound once. If she Protects, Chill. Flash Cannon/Metal Sound/Chill (x3)
  13. Whirlpool

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Reducing my attack with a burn isn't going to do much, since, well, watch. Metal Sound until it hits, then Discharge until it paralyzes. In the unlikely circumstance that everything manages to work, Flash Cannon last. Metal Sound ~ Metal Sound/Discharge ~ Metal Sound/Discharge/Flash Cannon

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Hey, Endure changed in Gen V so it still has a flat 50% chance after the first turn. :/ But the entire point of that was to make her waste ~6% energy, so it's okay. Uh, I don't think I've ever sent out Whirr before, so you're up. Shift Gear (x2) for some actual speed (and attack) and then Gear...
  15. Whirlpool

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

I'm so disappointed I couldn't do another combo, but I have buckets of energy to waste, and I see a loophole, so. Endure (x3)
  16. Whirlpool

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Uh, Sing and then Tail Slap + Wake-Up Slap. I'm pretty sure the combo will work, but if the Tirtouga Protects the first action, use Sunny Day and just continue. Sing/Sunny Day ~ Tail Slap + Wake-Up Slap
  17. Whirlpool

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Funny story. By Altered Origin's calculator (which I'm pretty sure Lord of the Fireflies uses, looking at his totals), you'll energyfaint with that last Last Resort. So, why bother? Chill (x3)
  18. Whirlpool

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Guess I can't complain about that. (Work Up is now my favorite move. :D) But, let's Substitute (10%), then Tail Slap, and Facade. If he protects the second or third actions, Chill; if he tries to use Yawn again the first action, Protect and move everything down an action. Substitute...
  19. Whirlpool

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

Well, most everything I roll will /still/ hit like a truck, so. Sleep Talk (x3)
  20. Whirlpool

    Lucas vs. Whirlpool

...do conditionals work on commands or actions? There's a small but important difference; if actions, then you did it right (I think). If commands, then Mink was supposed to use Facade the first action.
