Blastoise vs. blazheirio889

Bluberry Bat

Mostly Ghostly
3 vs. 3
Style: Set
DQ: 10 Days
Damage Cap: 45%
Banned Moves: OHKOs

Field: Arboreal Dome

In some closed-off mountain range in the northern parts of Asber, a strange natural wonder has formed; a humongous dome made entirely of intertwined trees and vines. It is several hundred feet high and wide, and the ground inside is covered with bushes and a strange, luminescent moss. Moss-covered boulders are also strewn throughout, and a slow, good-sized stream cuts a swathe through the middle of the Great Arboreal Dome. The light not provided by the moss is filtered and green, streaming through window-like gaps in the wicker dome.

For obvious reasons, most weather moves will have a lessened effect in this arena, as rain or hail will have a tough time getting through the intertwined branches. At the end of each round, there's a 25% chance that the moss will glow bright green for the entirety of the next round, at which point Grass-type Pokémon get a 2x STAB instead of a 1.25x, and Fire-types get no STAB.

Additional Rules: The choice for the first Pokémon sent out by each trainer willl be sent to the referee, and not posted in the battle itself. For example, it would be;

X and Y choose a Pokémon and tell it to the ref by PM
X attacks

and not:

Both choices are in, let's get this going~ Today we have-

mankey Blastoise's Kergen the Mankey vs. Blazhy's Retsurai the Luxio luxio

Pretty balanced matchup here, and so Blastoise can lead us off with commands~ The Wheel of Fate is Turning~ ...Ahem.

Okay, let's do this thing. Use Attract to start with, say something about how shiny and sparkly his fur is... Then use Covet to get his item, or Attract again if it didn't work the first time. Then end with Captivate, or Covet if you don't have his item, or Attract again if it hasn't worked until that point for some reason.

Attract~Covet/Attract~Captivate/Covet/Attract

..Yes I know that you want to beat something up, Kergen, but you'll get to do so soon, okay?

*hugs Dwagie*

Hurdurr, I forgot that Retsurai was holding something... Well, too late now.

'Kay, Retsurai, start with Thunder Wave. We liek speed advantages, yes.
Next action, use Attract on Kergen. Don't give me that look, just do it. It'll do us good in the long run!
Last action, if you're attracted, let loose with a loud, manly Howl! Show Kergen what you're capable of! If you're not attracted somehow, you should still have your Wide Lens, so use Thunder.

Thunder Wave ~ Attract ~ Howl/Thunder

Also Dwagie, I think you should edit the arena description to say that Grass-types get 1.5x STAB instead of 1.25x STAB if the moss glows. That aside, *TACKLES*

Rebel One, action!

Nyoro~N-yaaah *TackleHugGlompAssaulted...?* ;w; wuff-

And.. and on the arena, I sort of just copypasted right from Blastoise, so.. opinions should probably come from him whether its a 2.0x mod or not. Though I will be judging STAB as 1.25 normally.

Almost as if ASB Central specialises in the destruction of natural wonders, today's improbable battle locale is an incredible tangle of trees, vines, and other greenery which over no doubt thousands of years and twisted into and amongst themselves to form an impressive fully enclosed dome.
There's always a certain ominous feeling when a pair of Asber trainers wander into natural wonders such as this - ones which none can seem to resist causing nameless wanton destruction for fun and profit inside. The first to arrive is aptly Blastoise, the apparent discoverer of this particular landmark. Only moments later, his opponent wanders in - scratching a Spinarak off her shoulder that apparently latched on while she was entering.
As usual the ref is fashionably late - and appears to be dragging a trademark League Saucer from which to observe the battle. Her annoyed expression and the clumps of dirt and shrubbery covering it suggests it was a hell of a time dragging it through the tightly bound base of the dome.

Finally, after taking her sweet time to unpack and sitting casually on her phlebotinum-powered floating platform with a bag of crisps, the purple-clad Riolu waves a somewhat tattered-looking flag to signal the start of the match. With simultaneous flashes, both competitors impatiently release their chosen battlers - in Blastoise's corner, a hopped up Mankey appears - while in Blazhy's, a confident looking Luxio.
As both Pokémon take a moment to absorb the scenery which is probably inevitably to be burnt to the ground by the time this is over, Kergen can't help but be a little put-off by his opponent. He has this air of confidence and royalty that makes even a hopping-mad Mankey a bit reluctant to smack him.

Luckily enough, it seems she's spared from doing so - and nervously, Kergen un-aggressively wanders over to Retsu, careful not to startle him. He's understandably nervous and on-guard, fur bristling and sparking, but instead of making a move, Kergen... 'Makes a move' on Retsurai. He backs up a bit, weight on his hind-legs and eyes wide as he's complimented for.. shiny fur, and.. pretty sparks? It's hard to tell exactly what's being said, but Retsu looks taken aback.
That said, it doesn't stop the errant sparks flying around his coat from flaring up again, and Retsu can't stop himself from giving a weak electrical pulse off towards Kergen - the Mankey shuddering as her muscles immediately locked up and convulsed uncomfortably. She wants to flail angrily - quite more in-character for her, but she finds it impossible at the time. Shows what good feelings do.

Needless to say, Retsu feels awfully guilty, and sitting himself next to Kergen does her best to look apologetic - awkwardly dancing around an apparent conversation for awhile. For the most part, Kergen looks rather unamused, but after awhile her eyes soften a bit - and the two smile at eachother alongside the apparent stifled gags of the ref. (Was this a battle or a dating show?) Unfortunately.. that's all the happens, Kergen's muscles absolutely refuse to bend to her will, and starting to fall over she's caught by a quick paw of Retsurai.

As soon as Kergen could stand again, Retsurai backed up a bit, flashing a cheesy grin. He looked a bit awkward yet, but reared his head back - giving a confident, almost affectionate sounding howl, perhaps hoping to impress Kergen somewhat. Kergen, who seems able to move again for the time being, gives somewhat of a sarcastic smirk at his attempts to impress her. She also catches a glimpse of his particular wearables.. a rather fancy looking pair of goggles with shining lenses.
'What, these old things?' Retsu seems to respond to her coveting glare, and with a grin he paws them off his head - though not without a bit of difficulty, as the elastic band snaps against his head with a nasty sting - and tosses them over to Kergen, who catches and immediately puts them on, looking to be feeling rather snazzy.

And so, the ref lays down on her side and yawns, calling the round to a close.

Excuse me for being nitpicky, but Covet has a base power of 40, so it should've dealt a bit of damage. And I'm a bit confused why paralysis started at moderate. >.> *hides*

Okay, Retsurai, that was an... interesting round! Well, firstly, why don't we give Kergen a present! In the shape of you, of course - more of you to love, yes? ...That's a 15% Substitute, in case clarification is needed.
Then, let's show Kergen more of your astounding powers! Levitate with Magnet Rise. If you don't have Substitute yet, make one now. If you're Taunted, though (but that wouldn't be nice of Kergen, would it?), then give her a Thunderbolt to show her her place.
Finally, we need to show Kergen just how strong you are! And what better way to show your strength and your uniqueness than with Natural Gift? If Kergen's going to Counter, though, Thunderbolt. And if she's completely inaccessible due to Protect or Detect or Dig or whatever (not including Substitute), or she's preparing Revenge, well, you'll just have to give her another Howl. She did seem to enjoy that first one, no? If you still have your Substitute, however, you can go forgo Howl if Kergen's going to use Revenge.

And so with this match off to a burnout start, both Pokémon are looking a little more than dopey staring each other down. (While the Ref has curled up on her saucer looking to have just about fallen asleep)
Retsu looks back to his trainer - a gift, you say? That's a brilliant idea! But using what, exactly?.. Well... He gets down to work with his paws, scooting mud, grass and presumably a few worms into a surprisingly coherent lump. Eventually it's even started to LOOK like him, complete with tufts of hair made from stray leaves. Kergen can only glare intently as Retsu does his work. 'For me?' She seems to say with a cheerful expression, clapping and encouraging his artistic skills of... mud.
'Again!' She calls, sounding impressed. Retsu is naturally blown away - she likes his work? He begins scooping around mud and grass again, hoping for another masterpiece - but he can't quite seem to get it to stick like last time, something just wasn't there. Whimpering, he looks disappointedly at Kergen... Just in time to catch her again as she begins to fall to the ground, wincing as her muscles lock up and refuse to cooperate once again.

Retsu couldn't let this dissuade him, though! if he couldn't quite craft another masterpiece for his Kergy-Wergy ((The ref can be heard gagging in her sleep)), then perhaps a light show would do! He begins to glow rather brilliantly, calling on his utmost inner power, he flashes and glows an impressive array of colours... however, he also seems to misjudge exactly how much energy he can store - and moments after shooting a sly grin to the dazzled monkey, his body pulses and sparks before all at once discharging its gathered energy in a concentrated beam which seems to home straight into Kergen - and with a screech, the unfortunate ape is forcefully thrown backwards, skidding along the ground before finally being stopped up by a patch of wet mud. (The Ref seems to budge. Actual damage?)
Retsu screeches and dashes over - how could he be so stupid?! Kergen slowly lifts herself up and shakes the mud from her eyes to see him running over. She's looking absolutely miffed, body tensing up and muscles bulging - even with his apologetic whines, she wanted to smack him straight across the face for that... But how could she stay angry at eyes like those~... Sigh~

- In fact, action two was a bust altogether, what with Encore and Paralysis. If nothing else though, Retsu got his energy kinda murdered by trying to Sub again.
- Real damage! Woop woop! I'm honestly amazed he rolled past infatuation, everything else has been rolling rather low this round.

Burn off some steam by Taunting him about how you could do so much better than him. I know you don't mean it, but he deserves it after what he just did. Then use Fling to tell him that you don't want his stupid gift, and finish with Earthquake to destroy that stupid thing he made for you. If he tries to talk to you or show you something, just Screech.

Psst, Dwagie, I think you've forgotten the Substitute in Retsurai's health and end notes.

Oh, doesn't seem like Kergen's pleased with us... but she doesn't have to go that far! Taunt? Fling? Earthquake? If I were you, I'd have second thoughts about being her boyfriend.

I'm worried about your energy there, so Chill on the first action. After that, Charge Beam her twice. You'll want to let out some steam, yes? Don't worry, Charge Beams don't hurt that much - you'll just be showing Kergen her place!

Feeling utterly dejected by now, Retsu wanders back to his side of the match to sulk - sitting behind his mud sculpture and coming off as rather pitiful. This wasn't how relationships were supposed to go - and his trainer, what was her problem? Telling him to hurt his Kergy, he just needed some time alone.
Kergen, on the other hand, obviously wasn't feeling the same way - she was absolutely steamed by now, having pulled herself out of the mud, profanities flying from her... mouth? Come to think of it... well, actually, no let's not. Nonetheless, she was off the handle, any notions of restraint long abandoned as strings of abrasive insults bombarding the already emotionally damage Luxio.

When she had finally stopped screaming and berating him, Retsu felt as if he had been stomped a good 5 metres into the ground - he wanted to shock her, get her back, but at the same time - it was all his fault, wasn't it? He had no idea what to do, instead opting to lower his head to the ground - paws over his ears and eyes clenched, futilely trying to hide his emotion. But Kergen wasn't dissuaded - still too pent up to think clearly, she rips Retsu's goggles off her head, and with an angry scream flings them straight into his muddy alternate's eye. He didn't seem to notice though (Or at least, doesn't acknowledge), paws still covering his head - and Kergen, after having the chance to blow off some steam, backs up with her arms crossed, head turned away and trying to maintain her stern appearance.

After a brief and awkward pause, the silence was broken again by none other than the sobbing of the emotionally drained Luxio - he just didn't have it in him to do anything, this was all too much. Kergen was almost feeling bad for him by now... Almost. The prick SHOULD feel bad, after all - and with one last bout of anger, she stomps her foot with an incredible force into the first patch of solid-ish ground she could find. The entire dome shook for a moment, a small sprinkling of leaves, pine cones and assorted bug-types falling lightly to the ground - but that was far from the worst of the damage, as even with the ground seeming to only rumble lightly with all the soft mud and terra to absorb the shock, a cracking fissure had managed to make its way outwards from the point of impact. Dancing along haphazardly, Retsu doesn't even seem to notice the quake - that is, until he's jolted upwards by a sudden burst. The fissure finally reaching its target, proceeded to violently burst the ground open. That target wasn't Retsu, however - but rather his muddy likeness, which had sat straight in the line of fire. Immediately, it crumbled, the dirt of its make-up falling into the crack in the ground and leaving little more than a scarred patch of dirt between the two.
And that was it - anything Retsu had felt for Kergen was gone, she had crossed the line. Howling and growling at her, the Mankey looks a bit taken aback, eyes wide and taking a step back. Maybe that WAS a bit harsh, but hell if the guy's not overreacting...

I don't think the Wide Lens magically appeared back on Kergen's head after she threw them - but maybe it's a time paradox. *shot*

Bitch! Biiiiiiiitch! Get away from my brother!

Look at that! Kergen destroyed your present to her in a heartbeat! What a waste. Start with Magnet Rise so we'll be safe from any Earthquakes, but if Kergen's going to Encore or Focus Punch, give her a Discharge. After that, it's revenge-tiem! Screw accuracy - send down Thunders like never before! If Kergen looks like she'll use Revenge or Payback, then wait before striking. If Kergen is using Dig, is Protecting, Detecting, what have you, then fire a weak Charge Beam at whatever - even if it misses, it should have a chance of raising your Sp. Attack, as it's just the residual static that gives you the extra oomph. Finally, Thunderbolt if Thunder's been Spited.

Retsurai is absolutely bristling with energy - he was ready to tear this monkey ball limb from limb. Take it slow, make her suffer, and there was nowhere for her to go! He was going to enjoy this. Kergen can just about see what's coming, and with a gulp she glares at the ref - who gives a knowing negatory shake of the head. Set rules, what kind of sadism was this?
Miniature thunder cracks echoed though the terrestrial dome - small bolts leaping between Retsu and the ground beneath him... which, speaking of which, he wasn't touching, feet limply hovering a few inches off the ground and slowly gaining altitude; it was like something from a bloody alien B-Movie. (Or an episode of DBZ, but we'll withhold that observation until we see a good ten battles worth of attack charging.)
Well, sod that - Kergen wasn't THAT dumb an ape after all. Screw the rules, she was going home. With a brief burst of relief from her tense muscles, she outright charged Retsu - alone enough to throw him off, for sure. Retsurai unintentionally flinching, Kergen took to opportunity to deliver an impressive front half-flip hand-spring to upwards flying kick straight to his jaw. With a rather nasty crack, she immediately retreated and.. in a somewhat shockingly unorthodox manoeuvre, actually dove straight back into her own Pokéball on her trainer's belt, disappearing with a flash. The ref gave an odd glare, pulling out a PDA probably to check the legality of such a move.
In the mean time, Retsu had somewhat recovered - albeit eyes a bit glazed, paw lifted to rub the spot where he had received the kick. Had she just broken his jaw?! Because it certainly felt like it, that little b- wait a tic... where the hell'd she go?
Blastoise was still shooting the ref an inquisitive glare - but she looked a bit involved, if not confuse, and was fairly unresponsive. Well, it was probably a good idea to give Retsu something to do while he had murder on his mind - and if he could get away with a 'Mon he wasn't currently absolutely intent on gutting he may as well.

With a flash, a new figure appeared on the field - an Elektrike, blue fur shining under the soft light making its way to the ground. Retsu, who was charged and ready to melt Kergen's face suddenly let his energy die down, face in shock. The slippery little slut had really gotten away? Koutus wasn't too sure what was going on, but she was quite worried for her safety - this guy looked like he needed some chill pills. Retsurai was giving a continuous, low snarl. He wanted Kergen's head, stuffed and mounted, and if he had to fry this mutt to get to her so be it.

- The ground would probably be covered in scorch marks and small craters, dust and dirt are scattered about and there are small fires dancing atop the blades of grass. If any of those Caterpies and Wurmples theoretically didn't scamper away by now.. well, they'd all probably be little more than burn marks on the ground.
But none of that happened so all's well and such.
