Arena : Seasonal Plain
Seasonal Plain is a rather large field with a medium sized pond in the middle, perfect for Pokemon Battles. There is a Laboratory in the distance. The influence of the experiments from said lab have caused a rather strange effect on the field. On each quarter of the field is a different Season. Each season has it's own affects on the pokemon in it.
Spring: 50% chance of Rainy weather coming into effect.
Summer: Sunny effect.
Autumn:20% chance of blowing over a battler each action.
winter 50% chance of snow, making ice types speed increase 1.5, 50% chance of hail. The pond is frozen solid.
Notes: It takes one action for Pokemon to run from one season into another. Ranged attacks can be fired from one season into the other.
Round One: Begin
Vena the bellsprout has been outside almost all of her life, and she's seen weather from up and down the spectrum, but she can safely say that she has
never seen weather like this before. It almost hurts her brain to look at the scene around her: one field, with one pond in its center, experiencing all four seasons' worth of weather and temperature at once. Bright sunlight, colorful flowers, faded grass and a neat wedge of frozen water... the peaceful coexistence of four completely different climates is confusing, to say the least. She scoots away from the center and further into the sunny corner, none too eager to stay close to the chilly winds blowing from the other side of the pond.
The spiritomb waiting for her in the spring section, by contrast, does not appear to be as befuddled by the impossible meteorological conditions all around him. Jibakurei's foul mood and dour expression are due more to the fact that he's outside in the sunlight and open air
at all--screw snow and screw greenery, he'd rather be napping in a nice, dark hole. The corners of his scowling mouth twitch slightly when bulky gray clouds roll in overhead, stopping neatly where the four seasons meet and making at least the spring section a little darker before opening up and dumping rain onto the battlefield. Ah, now rain and overcast skies aren't quite so bad--not as nice as a good old-fashioned abandoned well, but as long as he stays here he might not feel so miserable.
With one last wistful glance at the clouds now covering the sun in that one section of sky, Vena sinks her roots into the ground and starts leeching energy from the damp soil. A faint, greenish light moves swiftly from her roots to her leaves and then collects in front of her, twisting and stretching until it takes the approximate shape of a second, neon-lime bellsprout. The substitute flickers slightly as the rain strikes it but otherwise remains solid; satisfied with her work, Vena disappears and leaves it alone in the downpour.
Jibakurei scowls at the glowing construct before him. He's not fooled; he knows full well that that isn't what he's supposed to be attacking. With the real Vena missing in action, however, what choice does he have? Dark energy rushes out from the spiritomb's ethereal body and spreads out across the rainy field, flattening the grass in a wave and knocking Vena's wispy substitute onto its back. It wavers dangerously as it struggles back to its feet, its greenish glow nearly snuffed out by the surge of darkness, but for the time being it is still standing.
The air next to the failing substitute warps slightly as Vena reappears from her hiding place, now wearing a scowl of her own. She takes just a second to survey the damage done to her body double--rather a lot more than she'd have liked, thank you very much--and then turns away from it and toward Jibakurei with her head tilted back. A few raindrops mingle with the toxic sludge that bubbles up in her pitcher before she snaps her head forward and the sludge flies out, spanning the gap between the pokémon and splattering all over the wet grass by the spiritomb's base.
Vena stares at the spreading pool of goo on the ground, flabbergasted.
What? How on earth could she have missed? Must be the stupid rain throwing her off her game, yeah, that's it... she disappears into thin air again, determined to spend what little break she has left reevaluating her approach to the weather, just in time to avoid the blob of shadowy energy the snickering Jibakurei flings her way. The substitute leaps sideways to take the shadow ball with the last of its strength and then fades completely.
Her time in her safe place cut short, Vena is dumped roughly onto the rainy quarter of the field in the spot her substitute had previously occupied. So much for time to evaluate a change in tactics. She lurches forward a few steps, digging in with her roots to give herself more purchase on the slippery ground, and tries again. This time Jibakurei is unable to avoid the blob of toxins Vena sprays him with, and while no damage is immediately apparent he can feel the poison sinking into the crack in his keystone. Snarling, he opens his mouth wide. A horrible hissing noise issues from the greenish vortex within, and a purplish mist rises up and starts to condense inside. He spits the collected liquid at Vena and hits her right in her narrow chest, and he laughs again--he's got the slippery little thing this time! But, to his dismay, Vena's body seems to absorb the toxic with no ill effect. The bellsprout flicks a leaf dismissively at him, unimpressed. Maybe his first two attacks were powerful, but they didn't hit her... and he sure as heck is going to have to do better than
that.

Ref's Notes
-Vena's sludge bomb missed.
-Jibakurei's toxic failed because poison-types like bellsprout can't be poisoned.
-I wasn't sure where the pokémon were supposed to start, so I just put both of them in Spring. Also, I'm assuming that these percent chances for stuff to happen are to be rolled at the beginning of the round/action, and that the weather conditions last for the same duration as a use of their respective attacks. If any of these assumptions are wrong, Psymon, just holler.
-Ruffledfeathers attacks first next round.
