AROUND APRIL ... (and now, with the power of time travel!)
Celadon Pachinko
"Welcome, welcome!" the man behind the counter says cheerily as you walk in. "This is the Celadon Game Corner -- we're the Safari Zone annex -- and feel free to try your luck! We have many fabulous prizes; in fact, you could say we have every non-legendary pokémon in the land!"
All along the walls are brightly-coloured machines, mainly pachinko but also slots and Voltorb Flip. There's probably a guy in a hawaiian shirt with blue hair playing Voltorb Flip right now, in fact.
There's a poster next to the counter, but it might not be the greatest idea to fiddle with it.
The machines all take between ¥500 (roughly $5) and ¥800 (... about $8) and are sorted by type: Dark takes ¥600, Ice ¥600, Ghost ¥700, Fire ¥700, Dragon ¥800, and the rest are ¥500. There's also a giant sign reading:
"THIS WEEK'S SPECIAL: 1 IN 25 ARE ALTERNATE-COLOURED!!"
By the door, there's a counter with a sign: ITEM SHOP COMING SOON.
NOW ...
Celadon Pachinko, Revisited
The brightly-litcasino Game Corner with gratuitous pachinko isn't.
It seems that sometime between its opening and its -- not exactly revival, exactly, someone decided it should be 'downsized.' Which it is! If by 'downsized' one means that the windows are boarded (they were already small and barred, though, which might defeat some of the point) and there are a few torn lines of tape labeled POLICE -- DO NOT CROSS.
Oh, and there are boxes stacked outside.
For some reason, the left door is ajar and will open if you push on it. Which you probably do! As one does. (Someone should really tell you that some things are not great ideas.)
INSIDE there is ...
... nothing much, really. There are boxes everywhere, boxes upon boxes filled with ... pokéballs? Pokéballs and clown outfits and costume paint, oh my!
The poster by the counter is slightly ripped, but mostly intact, which is more than you can say for the empty and partially-dismantled pachinko machines.
There is, however, still someone playing Voltorb Flip forlornly in the back corner.
