As a heads-up, Psymon, your bellsprout's gender is missing from your profile.

Right, I'll send out Jibakurei, my Spiritomb.

Start with a Dark Pulse, then Shadow Ball, finish off with Toxic. If at any time she uses a move to raise her stats, use Psych Up. Also, if she chills at any time, you use Chill too.

Dark Pulse / Psych Up / Chill ~ Shadow Ball / Psych Up / Chill ~ Toxic / Psych Up / Chill

Alright, we are gonna need a plan. Hm. Start with substitute (15%). Attack with sludge bomb, and then use toxic to show him who's boss.

Round One: Begin

Vena the bellsprout has been outside almost all of her life, and she's seen weather from up and down the spectrum, but she can safely say that she has never seen weather like this before. It almost hurts her brain to look at the scene around her: one field, with one pond in its center, experiencing all four seasons' worth of weather and temperature at once. Bright sunlight, colorful flowers, faded grass and a neat wedge of frozen water... the peaceful coexistence of four completely different climates is confusing, to say the least. She scoots away from the center and further into the sunny corner, none too eager to stay close to the chilly winds blowing from the other side of the pond.

The spiritomb waiting for her in the spring section, by contrast, does not appear to be as befuddled by the impossible meteorological conditions all around him. Jibakurei's foul mood and dour expression are due more to the fact that he's outside in the sunlight and open air at all--screw snow and screw greenery, he'd rather be napping in a nice, dark hole. The corners of his scowling mouth twitch slightly when bulky gray clouds roll in overhead, stopping neatly where the four seasons meet and making at least the spring section a little darker before opening up and dumping rain onto the battlefield. Ah, now rain and overcast skies aren't quite so bad--not as nice as a good old-fashioned abandoned well, but as long as he stays here he might not feel so miserable.

With one last wistful glance at the clouds now covering the sun in that one section of sky, Vena sinks her roots into the ground and starts leeching energy from the damp soil. A faint, greenish light moves swiftly from her roots to her leaves and then collects in front of her, twisting and stretching until it takes the approximate shape of a second, neon-lime bellsprout. The substitute flickers slightly as the rain strikes it but otherwise remains solid; satisfied with her work, Vena disappears and leaves it alone in the downpour.

Jibakurei scowls at the glowing construct before him. He's not fooled; he knows full well that that isn't what he's supposed to be attacking. With the real Vena missing in action, however, what choice does he have? Dark energy rushes out from the spiritomb's ethereal body and spreads out across the rainy field, flattening the grass in a wave and knocking Vena's wispy substitute onto its back. It wavers dangerously as it struggles back to its feet, its greenish glow nearly snuffed out by the surge of darkness, but for the time being it is still standing.

The air next to the failing substitute warps slightly as Vena reappears from her hiding place, now wearing a scowl of her own. She takes just a second to survey the damage done to her body double--rather a lot more than she'd have liked, thank you very much--and then turns away from it and toward Jibakurei with her head tilted back. A few raindrops mingle with the toxic sludge that bubbles up in her pitcher before she snaps her head forward and the sludge flies out, spanning the gap between the pokémon and splattering all over the wet grass by the spiritomb's base.

Vena stares at the spreading pool of goo on the ground, flabbergasted. What? How on earth could she have missed? Must be the stupid rain throwing her off her game, yeah, that's it... she disappears into thin air again, determined to spend what little break she has left reevaluating her approach to the weather, just in time to avoid the blob of shadowy energy the snickering Jibakurei flings her way. The substitute leaps sideways to take the shadow ball with the last of its strength and then fades completely.

Her time in her safe place cut short, Vena is dumped roughly onto the rainy quarter of the field in the spot her substitute had previously occupied. So much for time to evaluate a change in tactics. She lurches forward a few steps, digging in with her roots to give herself more purchase on the slippery ground, and tries again. This time Jibakurei is unable to avoid the blob of toxins Vena sprays him with, and while no damage is immediately apparent he can feel the poison sinking into the crack in his keystone. Snarling, he opens his mouth wide. A horrible hissing noise issues from the greenish vortex within, and a purplish mist rises up and starts to condense inside. He spits the collected liquid at Vena and hits her right in her narrow chest, and he laughs again--he's got the slippery little thing this time! But, to his dismay, Vena's body seems to absorb the toxic with no ill effect. The bellsprout flicks a leaf dismissively at him, unimpressed. Maybe his first two attacks were powerful, but they didn't hit her... and he sure as heck is going to have to do better than that.

Ref's Notes
-Vena's sludge bomb missed.
-Jibakurei's toxic failed because poison-types like bellsprout can't be poisoned.
-I wasn't sure where the pokémon were supposed to start, so I just put both of them in Spring. Also, I'm assuming that these percent chances for stuff to happen are to be rolled at the beginning of the round/action, and that the weather conditions last for the same duration as a use of their respective attacks. If any of these assumptions are wrong, Psymon, just holler.
-Ruffledfeathers attacks first next round.

Round Two: Begin

Heartened by Jibakurei's recent failure, Vena lilts forward through the rain and lashes out with one of her root feet, stretching it as far as it will go and whipping it around the spiritomb. The impromptu vine passes straight through the ghost-type's incorporeal form, however, leaving him unscathed. He lets out a mirthless laugh as Vena reins her foot back in, pleased to see that he's not the only one making silly blunders around here. Better luck next time, loser, he sneers. His mouth opens wide again, this time allowing a thick, black smoke to billow out from the incomprehensible vortex of spirits swirling within. The smoke quickly blankets the spring quarter of the field and begins to spread out into summer and autumn, and before long Vena can hardly see a thing unless she strains her neck to see just above it.

Standing on tip-root with her heavy head tilted at an awkward angle gets to be uncomfortable in a hurry, forcing Vena to relax and hope that the rain will clear the obnoxious smokescreen away before long. She rears back and spits a seed from her mouth in Jibakurei's general direction, just managing to bounce it off of the side of his keystone. The seed germinates on contact with the rock and lashes out with its shoots as if it were a sentient being, instantly pulling itself in close and wrapping its thin vines around the heavy rock. Jibakurei squirms as the questing shoots work their way into the keystone's crack, but no amount of frenzied wriggling will dislodge the baby plant. He grumbles, gives up for now and tries to ignore the irritating tingling sensation that means the hungry leech seed is doing its work. Vena, several yards away, breathes a sigh of relief as she feels a bit of her foe's energy sinking into her. Good; she managed to hit him after all.

A blast of frigid air cuts through the smoke without warning, scattering some of it and battering Vena back several paces. The shivering bellsprout glances around wildly, tiny ice crystals forming on her face, leaves and roots, half expecting to see some of the snow flurries from the winter quarter opposite them drifting in her direction. The snowflakes are falling as normal, however, not one venturing out of its neat little section of land. It is not until more of the smoke clears that the source of the icy wind becomes apparent. The spiritomb continues his cruel laughter, a few stray snowflakes fluttering out of his mouth as he exhales.

The dusting of frost covering Vena has her sufficiently stunned and miserable for the time being, and so Jibakurei is able to act before her at long last. Rather than go on the offensive again, however, he closes his wild green eyes and settles down, hovering lower over his keystone as he prepares to go to sleep. The ghost is just about to drift off when something wet and unbelievably cold splatters over him, startling him into total wakefulness. He whirls around, ready to give whoever dared do that to him a piece of his mind, only to see the referee glaring at him from the edge of the winter quarter, a second snowball in his hand and poised to throw. "No direct-healing moves allowed. Now stay awake and actually beat something up, you slacker." Jibakurei's face falls and he shrinks back down, embarrased.

See how you like a little snow, Vena mutters as she stumbles forward, her movements slowed by the weight of the frost on her body. The icy wind and the constant rainfall have all but cleared the earlier smokescreen, and it is a straight shot to where Jibakurei is sitting and feeling sorry for himself. With the spiritomb now in her line of sight the grass-type is able to concentrate on him properly, sending out a tendril of green energy that wraps around him much more securely than her root ever could. Jibakurei temporarily forgets his mortification and resumes squirming as the tendril siphons health away from him. He deflates even more when the attack ends; he'd thought he had the upper hand here, but the combination of the poison still pooling in his keystone, the leech seed clinging to him like a limpet and this new giga drain really isn't making him feel very good.

Round Three: Begin

Jibakurei grumbles irritably, still sore about his snow-pasted keystone. What he'd really like to do is get even with the referee, but as that is not technically an option he settles for taking a quick break to devise new and exciting ways to bring Vena into a world of hurt. He giggles nastily as visions of a screaming bellsprout flailing around as her leaves are slowly plucked off of her stem dance through his mind. Yeah, yeah... he can pull her leaves off. She's probably pretty flammable, too, being a grass-type and all... or maybe he can find some way to levitate her into a mulcher... that would be fun. Deliciously violent thoughts wend their way through the spiritomb's mind, raising his confidence.

Whatever Jibakurei is laughing about cannot possibly be good for Vena--rather than stick around and find out, the pitcher plant pokémon opts for creating another substitute. A second construct, identical to the first she created at the beginning of the battle, takes her place on the field. She winces a little as she brings the substitute into being--she doesn't really feel as though she can spare too much more of her health for things like this. Still, if it will put some more distance between her and that creepy ghost over there...

Jibakurei glances through the rain after taking a moment to settle down, promising to save those enticing thoughts of bellsprout torture for later. The snarl he makes when he sees that Vena has once again been replaced by a phony is much more audible than before, and understandably so. When is that little coward going to stay put and fight for herself?

...not anytime soon, unfortunately for him. He's just going to have to take a shot at the dully-glowing fake instead. Another wave of black, negative energy, fueled by his earlier nasty plotting, surges forward from his spectral form and rushes across the waterlogged spring lawn. The extra burst of energy makes much quicker work of the substitute this time, obliterating it and dowsing its faint green light on contact. No sooner has the real Vena made herself comfortable then she finds herself pulled from her secret dimension and dragged back into the battle; she lands with a light squelch on the wet grass, exposed to the rain and to Jibakurei once more.

Shaking with nerves and frustration, Vena struggles to her feet and steadies herself. Her opponent is tearing her substitutes to ribbons sooner and sooner each time, and the thought is nothing short of alarming--she doesn't want to be next. She fights to keep her apprehension under control as she moves in for an attack of her own; judging by the wobbly trajectory of the gob of sludge she spits toward the spiritomb, however, she hasn't quite managed to calm herself down yet. Erratic as the sludge bomb's flight was, however, it connects solidly with Jibakurei's side and explodes in a shower of noxious purple goo, running down his keystone and staining it a little before the rain washes it away from the the rough surface.

The angle of the falling rain changes again as the wind changes direction, blowing from behind Jibakurei once more. This stiff breeze is accompanied not by ice and frost, however, but by a terrible howling and moaning that sends a chill down Vena's stem even as she struggles to dig her roots into the mud and brace herself against it. The wind carries with it a host of amorphous shadows, grotesque, shifting specters that scream and reach out for Vena with immaterial talons as they race past her; Vena's shivering increases dramatically when several of the horrible shades make contact with her body. Jibakurei watches her strain against the wind with his green eyes narrowed, relishing the pained look on her face each time she is swatted with another ghostly claw.

A few seconds more and the ominous wind dies down, allowing the rain to continue its path straight downward and the malevolent spirits to fade away into thin air. Now forlorn and starting to look worse for wear, Vena continues to tremble even as she tries to muster enough control for another giga drain. Jibakurei winces as the effects of the leech seed twining around his keystone are seemingly amplified, the giga drain siphoning away even more of his health. It's terribly uncomfortable, but he tries his best not to let it bother him. Just keep thinking about that mulcher...

Round Four: Begin

The visions of mulchers dancing through Jibakurei's head are rudely interrupted when he chances another look at the offending bellsprout across the way. She has managed to get her shivering under control for the time being and is now swaying back and forth as she takes wobbly steps in his direction, bobbing left and right in what she seems to assume is a seductive manner. An oddly... enticing aroma begins to waft from her mouth and her petals, and though it doesn't carry well through the strong smell of rain and wet grass, the spiritomb can definitely detect it. And he's not so sure he likes it. Or... or that he doesn't like it. Or... he almost forgets what to do in his distress--holycrapwhatisshedoingitseemsnicebutwait--and shouts out the first thing that comes to his mind:

"I... I think you... I think you're ugly!"

Vena stops dead in her tracks and stares, dumbfounded. The break in her movement is all that Jibakurei needs to regain his composure and remember that yes, that was exactly what he was supposed to do. Emboldened by the sight of his opponent's hesitation, he launches into an even heartier tirade of insults that quickly become a lot more colorful than just "ugly". The bellsprout bristles, seeing a deeper shade of red with every remark that flies her way; by the time Jibakurei has finished taunting her, trying to seduce him is the furthest thing from her mind.

Laughing to himself as he watches Vena fume and stamp her roots over on her side--rest? attract him again? why don't any of her commands involve the word "murder"?!--and returns to dreaming up entertaining ways to have the grass- and poison-type meet her untimely demise. The mulchers still seem like a good plan, although now that the rain is starting to let up he wonders if he might have access to any fire at some point in the future.

Another wave of chilling blackness, darker and more powerful than those that preceded it, radiates out from the ghost pokémon and quickly crosses the distance between him and the furious Vena. This time the dark pulse is enough to knock her off of her feet and into the mud completely. Jibakurei allows himself an audible laugh this time, half because of the amusing sight the sodden bellsprout makes as she picks herself up, and half because he hopes it will help him ignore the fresh waves of nausea that surge over him as the poison within intensifies.

He isn't laughing for very long, however. Vena, now beside herself with anger, is unwilling to just sit back and take this nonsense any longer. Blind to the mud on the ground and all over her spindly body, the bellsprout dashes forward with every ounce of speed her cold limbs can muster. Jibakurei has just enough time for a startled squeak before she collides with his base and slashes madly at his wispy form with her leaves. Now thoroughly unnerved, Jibakurei tries to slink further into his keystone to escape her wrath; only when she calms down and backs off does he realize that her apparently savage attack has actually done very little to him. Thanking his lucky stars for his being less than solid, he nevertheless keeps a wary eye on the panting bellsprout. Vena seems to be calming down now that she's had a chance to vent her spleen, regardless of how effective it may or may not have been.

Now that Vena no longer seems to be absolutely livid with him, Jibakurei feels a lot more comfortable giving her another good smack. Darkness rushes across the sodden battlefield and engulfs the miserable bellsprout in its chill. Nerves frayed and confidence shaken, it is all Vena can do to pull herself together in time for another giga drain. Jibakurei winces as he feels more and more of his energy being sapped away, but he knows better than to despair just yet--he still has the upper hand, and he knows it.

The spiritomb is so comfortable, in fact, that he decides he has a bit of wiggle room for some fun. Rather than let loose with another dark pulse, he concentrates instead on drawing the nearby shadows in close. A blob of darkness coalesces in front of Jibakurei's sickly green mouth before shooting forward, colliding cleanly with the bellsprout. Vena's entire body is snapped back by the force of the blow, and this time it successfully manages to knock her over onto the grass. Now thoroughly drenched in mud as well as wracked with pain, the grass-type decides against getting up for the time being. It's easier to send the little spheres of green energy at her opponent from where she lies, just letting his health drift back into her without her having to strain her complaining muscles too much.

Jibakurei returns to his old tricks when he moves again, his immaterial form spreading out as yet another dark pulse sweeps across the lawn. This time the icy chill the dark energy carries with it prove too much for Vena to withstand; she shudders violently where she is on the ground, too startled and pained to move.

The clouds above the spring and winter quarters of the plain slowly begin to part as the last few raindrops and snowflakes fall to the ground. The cessation of the inclement weather has little bearing on the battle, of course--the field is still wet or blanketed with snow, respectively.

-Ruffledfeathers attacks first next round.

There's no real way to get out of this, I'm afraid.

Good work Jibakurei! Let's finish this off. Use taunt, and then Shadow Ball for the last two actions.
