Arena: Dusky Bridge
A long, narrow, rickety old suspension bridge spanning the Eagle River, roughly long enough to take two actions to cross from one side to the other. The battle takes place in the middle of the bridge, with the trainers each positioned on opposing sides. A handrail will prevent Pokémon from falling or being knocked off. At the beginning of the third round, lightning will strikethe bridge, setting it on fire; Pokémon will have until the end of this round to escape the bridge to either end before it collapses, dumping any Pokémon still on it into the Eagle River. Anything that falls into the river cannot be reclaimed, so the Pokémon will be knocked out if this happens. The battle will then move to the cliffsides the bridge connected; if the Pokémon are on opposite sides, only projectile attacks will connect, and due to the distance they need to travel and the heavy snowfall obscuring the view across the canyon, these attacks' accuracy will be reduced by 25%. Alternatively, if they end up on the same side, obviously one will be very far away from their trainer and there is a 25% chance this Pokémon won't hear whatever commands it is given. On the sixth round, Godot and Detective Gumshoe will arrive to repair the bridge; anything that touches the bridge (accidentally or otherwise) between then and the time it is finished will cause Godot to throw a mug of scalding coffee at whoever touched it or used the attack that hit it, dealing 5% typeless damage, inflicting a burn, and reducing Defence by 1 level due to the cuts dealt by shattering china. By the ninth round, the bridge will be finished, and the events will repeat themselves from there onwards (lightning strike/bridge collapse on round 12, Godot and Gumshoe arrive on round 15, bridge is fixed on round 18, etc.)
Arena status: A great ball of fire is floating above the battlefield (3 more actions). The bridge has been fixed, and the battlers may attack from close range again. A thick fog is hanging over both cliffsides (3 more actions).

-----

Everyone had been too focused on the dire straits of the battle... To the point of not noticing the stormclouds that began to gather, despite the great ball of fire's best efforts.

When all least expected it, pseudo-sun and rain got together, and a beautiful rainbow formed an antithesis with the outrageous, recurring tradegy of lighting that set the bridge aflame.

The once more burning ground, however, did not daunt the Pokémon upon it. Nenya went back to what she had been doing earlier that battle: blasting bright gray beams. She had the leeway to do it twice, as paralysis stopped Kay Faraday from firing the first counterstrike.

Before being hit for the second time, the Sneasel had strangely put up a guard against the attack, as if making no effort to dodge. When she was inevitably struck, she summoned snowed upon stones from the chasm's walls, furiously smashing the enemy with them so as to finally put an end to their dispute.

The bridge was about as good as snapped. Kay managed to leave just in time, whereas her fainted foe fell, only to be rescued by an Aerodactyl following quick orders from his trainer.

As the referee delivered Nenya safely to the cliffside sreservoir was standing upon, the battler began making a decision for the next Pokémon to be used.

Nice work, Kay! I'll buy you a Swiss roll for this later. But looks like you're gonna have to take on for the team now, so let's just soften this guy up for the next one out.

Larvitar, huh... just a volley of Ice Beams should probably do it. Chill if you get too low on energy or he protects, and use Foresight if he Double Teams. (I do wish I was unlazy enough to check if that works the way I think it will. Eh.)

-----

sreservoir's decision was made. The next Pokémon to take to the battlefield was small and green with skin that looked sturdy. It seemed to be as averse toward the cold as her fallen comrade.

Commands were issued, and the signal to reinitiate battle was given for the thirteenth time.

Pseudodino was quick to perform her orders. A simple stomp on the ground -- though probably with more to it than met the eye -- loosened rocks from the chasm's walls, to form a wall covering the cliffside.

Despite this cover, Kay Faraday still managed to snipe for the target's location for an accurate Ice Beam, which seemed to deeply irritate its target.

The Larvitar counterstruck angrily, letting out a white blast of energy -- a familar blast of energy. Similar to the ones Nenya had been abusing earlier, but thicker.

Attacking had a consequence, though -- it gave away the attacker's location, allowing the Sneasel to fire one more unerring ray of blistering cold.

With that last attack, the stony critter decided it was time to put some more effort into taking cover. Through the gouges in her shell, she blasted plenty of sand, while releasing some sort of force upon the floor to raise debris. The stirring winds carried all the powder; soon, the sandstorm somehow managed to spread throughout the unusually large arena.

That did it. The great truth burglar was no longer able to aim properly, and missed by a long shot, left to deal with the poison in her veins and the bothersome stinging of the gritty gale. The pain began to overpower her, as she could barely stand.

The debris carried with the gales annoyed the trainers extremely as they issued their commands.

There was not much to be done this round; another beam of energy flew, striking Kay square on the belly.

Footsteps were heard while Mike the Foxhog recalled the defeated Sneasel.

-----

A new sendout was made, and the second batch of fighters prepared to face up. sreservoir's team was now facing a fighting polygon of mostly red coloration, with some blue parts.

Before the match commenced once more, two familiar faces approached the battle from each cliffside -- the detective and the masked man from earlier, both holding their cell phones to their ears.

"The bridge got burned again? That's as likely as my salary getting raised, pal!"
"It's not impossible. Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains must be the truth."
"So my salary getting raised is not impossible?"
"Actually, it is."
"Oh."
"Do we still have boards to replace the damaged ones?"
"The precint sent plenty of them. We could fix this bridge three more times, pal."
"Let's hope we don't need to, then."

The masked man downed one more cup of coffee before the two began fixing the bridge for the second time. Meanwhile, the signal to restart battling was given, and so did the two battlers.

Pseudodino spat a cloud of slurs; one of them was so particularly terrible that the man fixing the bridge nearby spat the coffee that was in his mouth down the deep chasm. However, crossing said chasm was the issue. Traveling through the sandstorm, wall of floating rocks and distance was a challenge even for sound waves.

By the time they arrived at Exabyte's sensors, they weren't loud enough for it to notice them -- particularly so given that it was focusing on extensive research of freeware. Its ultimate finding was a program that, thought complicated to install, upgraded its interface to process force faster and with more efficiency, as well as an improved sensorial system to deal with special damage better.

Afterwards, the Porygon ativated an automatic aim system, tracking down the opposing Larvitar regardless of sandstorm, floating rocks, distance and her best attempts to foil its attacks. When it was fully capable of watching her with extreme clairvoyance, the first thing it saw was a brillant white beam being fired in its direction. It tried dodging, but the blast of energy tracked it down and struck successfully.

The programming code Pokémon would not let that attack be without a counterstrike. Booting an Ice-type program, it blasted a powerful, freezing gale. It even froze some bits of water and sand in the air to produce what looked like snow being carried along. The green dinosaur tried to avoid the attack, but the accurately aimed attack had foreseen such attempt, causing her to get hit anyway.

As the referee called for the end of round, Pseudodino struggled to pull her head away from a mound of snow she landed on.

-----

Progress on the bridge was being made, but it was far from done. Until then, the battlers could only keep up the indirect combat.

The round opened with nothing more than preparation for the next round of projectiles being fired back and forth. Pseudodino harnessed a grand hidden power by performing a dance of twisting and coiling, while Exabyte formed and spat a great ball of fire above the battlefield, warming the air causing the winds to settle and the flying debris to fall apart. "Ha! Hot days and even hotter nights." The white-haired man fixing the bridge on sreservoir's side, who now had taken to watching the battle, commented.

The two fighters stared at each other, readying their next moves. At barely the same moment, each one fired their own beam. The brightness of the volleys encased, coupled with the light of the flames floating on the sky, created almost blinding conditions. Both Pokémon struggled to override the opposing ray, but, eventually, both aims slipped. That did not mean they missed, it just meant they no longer countered one another; in fact, both attacks landed perfectly. Solarbeam in particular seemed to have an excellent performance, blowing its target away to dive onto the snow once more.

As the Larvitar faced the enemy once more, her resolve strenghtened. She did not want to end up losing that easily. As her opponent boisterously shouted "IMMA FIRIN' MA LAZAR", she quickly unleashed one more Natural Gift, this time to catch the victim off guard for a grievous blow between the head and the body.

The Porygon quickly regained its composture and made its counterstrike, once more successfully hitting with a beam of solar energy. This last attack gave the dinosaur Pokémon a red aura, which concerned her trainer, though the masked beholder seemed, for some reason, to be utterly oblivious to it.

By the ninth round, the bridge will be finished, and the events will repeat themselves from there onwards (lightning strike/bridge collapse on round 12, Godot and Gumshoe arrive on round 15, bridge is fixed on round 18, etc.)
Arena status: The bridge has burned out and collapsed; thus, Pokémon must attack each other with projectiles. Pointed stones float around sreservoir's end of the bridge. Gumshoe and Godot have arrived at the scene and are fixing the bridge. A great ball of fire hangs above the battlefield (12 more actions).

-----

Exabyte stared out at the battlefield, expecting a boring matchup. Across the river, Pseudodino's resolve strenghtened, and her will to overpower the enemy increased constantly.

The referee gave the signal to recommence the round, sreservoir's Pokémon, having earned significant edge over her opponent in what regards speed through the earlier Dragon Dance, quickly seized control of the first action, gushing sand through the holes on her rocky armour as a strange force spread out, picking up debris as a wild gale kicked in. A thick sandstorm flew on the arena.

All the sand did a fine jog of blocking out the light and heat of the faux sun. As ordered, the Porygon on the other cliffside broadcast a wave onto the sky, settling the winds down and powering the great ball of fire back to its full efficiency.

I could write on the next two actions, and I probably should, but those actions were no more than the struggle to keep the weather in check. In the end, Exabyte won that one struggle, being the slower one of the two and, thus, the one who had a chance to place their condition of choice right before the end of round call. But, except maybe a grain of sand landing on the busy prosecutor's coffee mug, absolutely nothing of interest happened during the fight for seizing advantage in the, well, fight.

first double team so exabyte will have a hard time aiming solarbeam. then taunt unless double team got broken, in which case do it again. if you get a chance to, restart the sandstorm.

double team ~ taunt / double team ~ sandstorm / taunt / double team.

Bah. Just spam Natural Gift to get rid of those Double Teams and stop her taunting >:l

Natural Gift ~ Natural Gift ~ Natural Gift
