Arena: Lavaplume Flats
In one of the more tropicalish areas of Asber (very rare, those are), on a large, flat island that's shaped like a cloud shaped like a duck, there lies a humongous volcano omigosh really?
Buuuut that's not where this battle will happen. Due to mysterious tectonic activity and multiple handwaves, most of the island is covered in gray, pillowing stone. This stone is warm to the touch and almost pliable with enough effort. The stone sparkles in the intense sunlight like a vampire, and is about as lifeless and boring. It's what's underneath the rock that's importante, mi amigo; a vast pool of magma lies underneath the several feet of stone, bubbling and attempting to escape. How the lava flats have remained so pristine for this long is a mystery; the shell is completely unmarked despite this being, y'know, Pokémon, were we fight on the moon and stuff.
But I digress.
A simple Mega Punch or Rock Throw is good enough to smash a hole in the ground, revealing the bubbling lava underneath. Once every round after a hole has opened, a geyser of lava will boil upwards and splash the arena before receding. Fire type moves get STAB regardless of the user's typing. Heavy pokémon may break the rock simply by standing on it.
Arena status: Unchanged.

The sunlight was mercilessly battering upon tropical Asber that day. This could only add to the ridiculously high temperature in the Lavaplume Flats -- usually bolstered enough by the dormant boiler that anxiously awaited beneath the gray stone that composed most of the island's soil.
Mawile settled down on a rock, fatigued. Wiping sweat off the forehead, the trainer noticed something approach. It was Blastoise, hanging from one of his Murkrow's legs. He let go of the bird, dropping off nearby. Not long after, a dashing blur raked the skies, then made a sudden stop above the duo. Jumping off his Aerodactyl's back, Metallica Fanboy muttered something about going slower next time and recalled his winged mount.
With all three parties present, the referee reminded both battlers of the match's rules, and signaled for sendouts to begin. The first Pokémon to take to the battlefield was a blue, canine creature with a diminuitve, vaguely humanshaped figure. He was to face a quadrupedal, also canine foe, sporting reddish-orange coat with cream mane, belly and tail.
Commands were issued on both sides, and the duel began.
Pinwheel abruptly pounced toward his opponent, swinging his body mid-air in order to slash with both front paws. The initial attack hit square across the target's torso, and was followed up by another quick, two-pawed stroke. Link took a few seconds to recompose from the sudden blow, and then let out a high-pitched noise that dismantled the Growlithe's concentration.
That was the Riolu's chance. He delivered two swift, alternating hooks at the enemy's face, and used the second punch's momentum to finish the combo with a devasting, spinning uppercut. That last last move flung its victim upward, but he managed to land softly with a roll backwards, zooming away from the fighting with absurd, progressively rising speed.
Mawile's Pokémon quietly awaited for another chance to strike. When his foe sprinted nearby, he quickly launched him into the air again with a powerful jawbreaker. Before letting the Fire-type puppy land, the Fighting-type puppy jumped with a straight trajectory, twisting around to deliver two more twirling punches.
The end of the first round was called as soon as Pinwheel landed.

Additional notes:
- Up until Agility started being used, both Pokémon had the same Speed. random.org called for Pinwheel to move first on the first action, then for Link to move first on the second action.
- By the way, are the rocks that hide magma supposed to be realtively small but plentiful, or large enough for, say, a battle to occour upon?
- Mawile attacks first next round.
