Gastly
Female Gastly
Ability: Levitate
Health: 100%
Energy: 100%
Status: 1- Speed.
Condition: Gleefully producing a stream of bubbles with her gassy body.
Commands: Toxic ~ Confuse Ray/Toxic ~ Shadow Ball/Confuse Ray/Toxic

Arena: Underwater Battlefield
The field is a standard battle arena, submerged underwater at the bottom of a steep cliff, where it has been abandoned. It is highly advised against using pokemon that require air to breathe, as the battle will take place near the ocean floor and the surface is rather far away; going up to take a breath of air will require a full action, and then another action to return to the fight. These pokemon will need air at least once every two rounds. Water pokemon and pokemon that don't breathe at all do not need to return to the surface. (Trainers get free scuba gear, no need to worry about drowning!)

Obviously, fire-type moves will be useless underwater. Similarly, weather moves will not have any effects below the surface. While underwater, any pokemon with Swift Swim may consider
that ability in effect. Any pokemon not used to moving around in water, whether they can breathe or not, have their speed reduced by 1.
Arena status: At the bottom of the arena, small pieces of shattered metal lay (though no longer at the same spot they lay upon beforehand).

-----

The double knockout earlier was a surprise, but nonetheless, subsequent actions were carried out swiftly. thunder sent out a black and purple blob, mostly made of gas, which made the arena fizzle. Shadow Serenity responded with his own sendout, a humanoid, purple creature with sparkling jewels for eyes and a vile smile.

Commands were issued, and the new batch of battlers faced off.

The Gastly quickly shifted herself along the waters, preparing a deadly concotion of gases in her mouth. Aiming at her new opponent, she spat the vapors, which reacted with the waters to form a cloud of toxin. Diamond swam up to take aim at his foe, accidentally swimming right into the poison, which quickly made its way to his veins, crippling him.

Seeking revenge, but still aware of the tactical advantages of following along with his commands, the Sableye established eye contact with his enemy, sending off a blinding light from his eyes. When the gas Pokémon opened her own eyes, she could see a strange, hypnotizing orb of varying colors. She lunged at it, trying to lick it, but it slipped out of her reach. She gave chase, and eventually wound up diving headfirst into the hostile's claws, although the lack of movement from his part minimized damage recurring from the mishap.

Seizing the opportunity to strike while guards were down, the Hopkinsville Goblin placed his hands close to one another, gathering ethereal energy between them. When a full-sized ball was formed, he flung it at his target. The bizarre composition allowed the projectile to travel effortlessly through the water and land successfully.

The strong attack was not enough to cut short the hunt for the light circle, though. Ignoring damage, Gastly followed her prey anywhere it went. At one point, it went through Diamond, encouraging her to zoom toward him while he was preparing to strike again. Less than amused, he stopped her with a half-hearted kick, and then unleashed one more Shadow Ball, this time from close range.

The ghost Pokémon showed signs of being in grievous pain, but quickly shook it off to recommence her pursuit.

Round 9 – End

Male Sableye

Condition: Annoyed.

Female Gastly
Ability: Levitate
Health: 60%
Energy: 97%
Status: 1- Speed. Confused (Severe).
Condition: Hounding the light ball doggedly.
Peformed: Toxic ~ Full confusion ~ Full confusion

Arena status: At the bottom of the arena, small pieces of shattered metal lay (though no longer at the same spot they lay upon beforehand).

Additional notes:
- In the ASB, Sableye are ghostly enough to the point they can phase almost completely. That they don't need to breathe is a pretty sound assumption.
- The nature of this arena would make some of the attacks you've ordered harder to aim -- like Magnemite's electrical attacks earlier, attacks here are traveling by water rather than air, meaning Toxic would hardly work without being used close-range. However, despite the subsequent accuracy reductions, the random number god chose to have it land.
- But that was the extent of thunder's luck, as Gastly hit herself in both actions afterwards.
- thunder attacks first next round.

pain split until it works thenchill and finally if the chance arises shadow ball
pain split~pain split/chill~pain split/chill/shadow ball

Holy... I did not expect that, good job, Diamond.

I have a sneaking suspicion that even though you're a ghost, that Pain Split will still effect you, unfortunately... And, being slower, there isn't a whole lot we can do to avoid it, at least without draining a ton of energy... Time to get semi-creative.

I'm going to give this a try. I think it's a long shot, but hell, what have we got to lose? Try a Shadow Sneak and Taunt combo. Don't directly attack Gastly, but try to keep moving around so she can't land a hit, and at the same time, mock her for it; Shouldn't be hard to talk while moving around, so. With any luck, that'll stop both Pain Split and her chilling.

Finally... you'll have to eat that attack. If that combo paid off, we'll Spite Gastly's Shadow Ball. If the combo failed, spend the remaining action retaliating with a Payback, instead.

Both battlers were moving hastily. Momentarily ignoring the coveted orb of light -- if only because it was positioned so that the avoidance could remain only partial -- Gastly quick attempted to reach into her foe's head. However, he skillfully avoided the attempt at connection by quickly vanishing into the shadows of the arena.

Baffled, the ghost Pokémon looked around for her opponent. She could find not even the mildest clue for a long time.

At one point, Diamond stealthily peeked out of the darkness, attempting to say something. However, he quickly found out out that speech doesn't quite work underwater, and immediately took cover again before he could be spotted.

Meanwhile, thunder's Pokémon decided to give that chase up, and focus on a different chase -- that of the colorful ball hovering about incessantly. It was difficult; it seemed to be always out of reach. Even the multiple attempts to lead it toward a wall and corner it would always result in a nasty bump.

The Sableye watched it all from the shadows as he prepared his following movement. His commands made it clear that he was to use Payback if it just so happened that the plan didn't go through. There wasn't much to be paid back, seeing as the round had up to that point consisted of nothing but botched moves, but nonetheless, he lashed out of the darkness and, claws glowing black, hammered his target on the head, inflicting major damage.

The blow briefly knocked Gastly into rationality, allowing her to aim properly and connect her mind to her enemy's, equalizing their vitality.

With no commands left, Diamond had little to do until the end of round call but hold his hands against his head, struggling against his newfound crippling headache.

Peformed: Pain Split (Missed) ~ Full confusion ~ Pain Split

Arena status: At the bottom of the arena, small pieces of shattered metal lay (though no longer at the same spot they lay upon beforehand).

Additional notes:
- Talking underwater would have to be nigh impossible at best. Not only does the sound not travel so well, but also, the water gets into any mouth that's opened, making it difficult to produce the sound in the first place. Shadow Sneak is still fair game and it allowed Diamond to avoid Pain Split on the first round, but Taunt was imperformable and, thus, Pain Split was still usable on the remaining actions.
- Though Gastly hit herself on the second action. But not on the third one.
- Shadow Serenity attacks first next round.

Extremely late DQ warning for Shadow Serenity.

Since these days me getting a reffing done has been something of an unexpected event, I'll give you 48 hours.

Okay, that was way more than 48 hours, and still no post.

It's been a long time since I last DQ'd someone. If I recall the rules correctly, thunder gets $16, I get $10, Gastly gets 1 point of experience and... Well, assuming a couple of things, Magnemite gets 2 points of experience.
