Arena: The Guitar

The arena does what it says on the tin - it's a massive guitar! It's about half a kilometre wide, and far longer. The referee watches from the soundhole, peering out from a nicely-placed ladder (the soundhole is off limits to the battlers, however). Every three turns, a chord will be played. These can have different effects:

20% - G Chord: Randomly chooses one of the Pokemon on the field, and heals it by 10% of its normal health. If the Pokemon is at 100% health already, there is a 50% chance of deducting 10% health, and a 50% chance of doing absolutely nothing.
20% - D Chord: Randomly chooses one of the Pokemon on the field, and deducts 10% of its normal health. If the Pokemon is already below 10% health, there is a 50% chance of healing 10%, and a 50% chance of taking the Pokemon down to 1% health, like with False Swipe.
30% - A Chord: Slams a barrier down on the guitar, so half of it is cut off. Any Pokemon on the fret at the time, rather than the body, will be damaged by 5% of its current health [ie, if the Pokemon is at 50% health, 3% will be taken away, leaving it at 47%]. The barrier remains for the turn afterwards, and is then lifted.
15% - E Major: Fully restores the energy of a randomly chosen Pokemon from the field.
15% - E Minor: Takes 10% energy from a randomly chosen Pokemon on the field.

I think I'll have to go with Jingles. Pachirisu

Okay, we can't be too sure about his strategy, so we'll get the ball rolling with some stat changes. Start with a Charm, followed by two Hyper Fangs.

Charm~Hyper Fang~Hyper Fang

Alright Bachuru this is gonna be great! Use Thunder Wave to hopefully paralyze it at first. For our second attack if the paralyzing didn't work then use Spider Web. If it did work then hit them with a Sucker Punch. And for our third action I want you to use Cross Poison!

--PREBATTLE--

After the hiatus of the Asber League, many battles are starting up - and this is one of them. Two battlers square off, standing tall in the arena, a...giant guitar. There seems to be a good number of giant objects in the Asber league, making battles even more interesting.

The ref peeks his head from the soundhole, signaling for the Pokemon to be released. In twin bursts of light, the combatants materialize - Jingles the Pachirisu on one side, peering around curiously, and Bachuru the Joltik on the other, tapping her little legs on the wood body of the guitar.

The signal flag waves, and the battle begins!

--ROUND ONE BEGIN--

Jingles moves first, approaching his tiny foe curiously. The bug-type takes a step back, but the rodent is right before him quite fast, and flashes a charming smile, extending a paw as if a handshake. Bachuru seems a tad puzzled, but lifts a tiny claw and shakes his paw. When Jingles retreats again, Bachuru can't help but think he's an awfully charming fellow. Maybe she should go easy on him.

But a battle is a battle, and the little spider generates a weak buildup of electricity in her fur, and sends a bolt towards Jingles. The rodent squeals, jumping and landing on the bridge, and narrowly avoiding the bolt. Bachuru seems stunned - there had to have been a one-in-100 chance of him avoiding it! That brat.

Jingles shakes his head, letting out a breath of air. He managed to avoid that, and it looked painful, too. Good! This was going quite well. He climbs up to the saddle to get a good look down at Bachuru, who was standing there looking annoyed, before making a flying leap, his jaws wide open. The Pachirisu bites down on her left side, which makes her gives a loud squeal of pain. Jingles drops her again, retreating up the bridge again, ending up sitting on the strings.

Bachuru is not pleased at all by this, and follows him, starting to spin a strong silk. She loops some around the Pachirisu's tail when he's not paying attention, tying him down to the strings quickly. When he catches on, Jingles squeaks in surprise, struggling, though his bottom half is attached to the strings.

It is now Bachuru's turn to be pleased, and she climbs over the rodent's body, perching on his nose, intending him to get a good look at her when she attacks him. She starts to ready a claw, gathering venom into it, when--

Jingles flicks his head, tossing her into the air, then bites her again, making her scream even louder this time. She manages to catch hold of a string before falling back to the body of the guitar, and clings to it, shivering with pain.

As the round ends, there is a twang of strings, and one of the ones underneath Jingles vibrates powerfully, sending a shock of pain through his body. He yelps, but the sting fades, leaving him panting. Ow.

Alright Bachuru let's make sure the job gets done. Start off by using Spider Web to secure Jingles' head. Next use Toxic. Lastly Chill.

Okay, Jingles, you know what to do - bite [Super Fang] through the Spider Web on your body. Keep going until you get through it, then bite through the one on your head. If you get a chance after that, start up a Dig attack!

Round 1 Begin!

More than a week seems to go by before anything happens. Then, suddenly, an intense green light appears inside the soundhole, resolving shortly into the shape of a girl and a Reuniclus. Hastily discarding a party hat, the girl calls out, "I'm your emergency referee. Start the round!"

Finally, thinks Jingles, and he begins his move; wriggling into an awkward position, he channels energy into his front teeth, which lengthen into one long fang. He begins gnashing wildly at the webbing, twisting each time he is able and slowly freeing himself. Finally, the last strands of webbing are broken and he leaps up, ready to attack - only to get smacked in the face by another web, which knocks him over and pins his head to the ground.

Wriggling madly, he once again puts his energy into his jaw, lengthening his teeth yet again; his mad flailings almost immediately sever some of the strands, and soon enough he has calmed down enough to bite at them in a more controlled manner. Within a few short minutes, he has managed to free himself. He pulls the remnants of the webbing from his fur and attempts to throw them down, though they remain steadfastly stuck. Bachuru observes his struggles with some interest, then giggles; then, drawing poison from her two underdeveloped venom sacs, she mixes up a volatile cocktail of toxins, which she spits suddenly at Jingles. It hits, and conveniently enough dissolves the remnants of the webbing; lkess conveniently, though, it quickly soaks through his skin and enters his bloodstream.

Suddenly, he feels very sick. As Bachuru curls her legs in and suddenly drops into an unnatural sleep, he drops onto all fours and retches; after a few minutes where he fails to vomit, he begins his next move. He scrabbles madly at the ground, and despite all seeming logic, he manages to do something; within a matter of minutes, he has dug a respectable tunnel, which he curves down and then up to come out underneath Bachuru, the ground underneath whom explodes in a shower of splinters. Jingles' head pops up comically and he looks around for his opponent, and he sees her scrabbling madly some distance away, on her back and attempting to right herself. He pulls himself out of the hole as the round draws to a close.

Round 1 End!

Notes
- Dig is difficult when you're on a giant, solid wood guitar. So it cost extra energy.
- Do you guys realise the sheer scale of this thing? Bachuru is one five-hundred-thousandth of the width of the guitar.

Thanks so much for stepping in!

Okay, Jingles, I think you need a bit of a rest. I know this poison is just going to get worse, but see if you can look past it for a while. Try chilling for a little while to get just a little strength back. Next, go for a Sweet Kiss. Don't worry if it doesn't quite work, we can try again later. The main thing is, we need to get some damage dealt - go with another Hyper Fang.

Chill ~ Sweet Kiss ~ Hyper Fang

Alright Bachuru this is going to be fun. First off get yourself ready by getting back on your feet. Then before Jingles can you use Sweet Kiss use Discharge to hopefully stop him. Then while he's hopefully frying use X-Scissor on him!

---ROUND THREE BEGIN---

There is a minor scuffle from the soundhole, and after a moment, the proper ref, looking very annoyed, waves his flag, as his Skeline prowls the edge of the soundhole. All is as it should be again, and, given no more unwelcome interuptions, the battle proceeds as normal.

Jingles blinks, puzzled, for a second, before settling down for a well-deserved rest, in his opinion. He leans back on his tail and watches Bachuru wiggle on her back, snickering a bit to himself. The little bug type, meanwhile, is not quite as pleased, and it takes her a few moments to finally right herself. She glares nastily at Jingles, chittering in her own tongue all the nasty things she wants to do to him.

She keeps chittering angrily for a while, not noticing when Jingles gets up, stretches, and pads over. She squeaks when he's in front of her, stepping back a bit. But when he doesn't try and bite her again, she looks puzzled. Jingles himself smiles a bit, putting on a charming face much liek the one from before. Bachuru is wary, but that fades from her mind when the rodent kisses her softly.

This makes Bachuru pause, and try and figure out what happened. It just ends up making her brain hurt a bit, and she decides to just get this over with. She moves to get into position for her discharge, but, when she was thinking, she neglected to notice one of the splinters from the dig attack laying before her and trips, landing on her face. The impact stings and makes her dizzy, and she stumbles back to her feet, trying to not fall over again. Jingles stands a bit off, watching amusedly.

After a few moments, he decides now is the time to strike; he leaps forward and bites down hard on the poor little bug, who screeches in pain, curling up as soon as she can. The pain makes her forget what she was supposed to be doing, instead focusing on making it go away.

The guitar's strings start to twang again, and Jingles yelps with alarm and gets as far away from them as he can, remembering the first time that happened. Bachuru is not lucky enough, however, and the powerful soundwave just seems to amplify her angony.

It finally ends, however, and she manages to uncurl, shivering and feeling worn. Jingles, on the other hand, is feeling pretty good, despite the slightly queasy feeling from the poison.
