Hmm...Elera, Let's go!

Hmm...Intimidate isn't gonna be good for your Attack. But we'll deal with that later. Let's start with Thunder Wave, and make life difficult for that little thing. After That, let's go with Charge Beam as many times as needed until it raises your Special Attack, after which I want you to use Thunderbolt instead. If it tries to protect against Thunder Wave, I want you to use Double Team, for 3 clones. However, if it makes a substitute for action 1 then immediately use Charge Beam right off, and push Thunder Wave back until the sub is gone. Also if Thunder Wave misses, use it again until it hits.

Thunder Wave/Double Team/Charge Beam ~ Charge Beam/Thunder Wave ~ Thunderbolt/Charge Beam/Thunder Wave

Alrighty, this will come down to interpretation of commands, but I think this should work. Start off with a Protect against the Thunder Wave (which would not count as a miss, so hopefully he won't use it again). Next, I'd like you to Snarl at the bug and all his clones. If the attack wouldn't hit multiple clones, I'd like you to spray leaf mulch everywhere to determine the real from the fake. Last action, Snarl your heart out.

Pre-round Notes
Another party of three has come to this same clearing. Two of the people are the same as the first time, the other is different - flying in on a Swellow as opposed to the Staraptor of the other two. As the referee - once more, she has left her own Pokémon back at the league, since she's determined that this battle will actually finish - sits down on her log, a Pikachu pops up beside her and starts rubbing against her arm - it's clearly the same one from before. The trainers sit down on logs too, and each of them send out their own Pokémon in turn. The first sends out the very same pink bulldog from the first time, while the second sends out a tiny yellow spider, which takes one look at the bulldog and scuttles away, trying to get away from the intimidating visage.

Round 1 Begin!

Knowing that Elera is about to use Thunder Wave, Daniel begins preventative measures. He forms a shimmering dome of green energy to absorb the errant electricity, and grins smugly at the now-green-tinted Elera. Grinning right back, Elera begins darting around in the leaf mulch, briefly accelerating to become a yellowish blur; when she slows back down, she is tailed by three identical Joltik. Or is she one of the tailing ones? It's impossible to tell, and that's precisely why she did it. Daniel glares at them as the dome shimmers out of existence.

Wiggling her madibles, Elera begins magnifying the static electricity already present in her fur; Daniel observes that all four spiders suddenly light up with electricity, even occasionally arcing between them. With a squeal, she releases the electricity towards Daniel, who has no time to get out of the way before the lickering light hits him, briefly illuminating him in the manner of a fourth of july celebration. He glares, and then lets out a menacing snarl; the sound is tinged with dark-type energy, and it certainly seems to make its mark on Elera. All four of her squeal and screw their eyes shut, and three of them flicker brielfy begore vanishing; the fourth remains, screeching in pain, snapping her tiny mandibles at the air. Soon the ringing in her ears fades away, but the dark undercurrent remains and she suddenly feels incredibly nervous.

Once more Elera begins her attack, sparkling briefly before launching a blast of electricity at Daniel. This time, though, some electricity remains, tinging her fur and sparking around her occasionally. She begins to feel her confidence slowly returning as the energy is reabsorbed by her body - only to disappear a second later as Daniel releases another ferocious snarl. The round ends with Elera having a ferocious headache, and with the referee gently stroking her friendly Pikachu on the head, prompting it to purr contentedy.

...Purr?

Notes
- Treating the wild Pokémon the same as last time, which is to say: each round, I'm rolling a 20% chance for a wild Pokémon to come across the clearing. If a widespread attack is used that round, they will come that action and be caught in it, then attack the user (random attacks, but they will always be effective - no Thunderbolt on ground-types, for example); otherwise they'll share half an Oran Berry (Pikachu, at least) with a random combatant.
- Since there's now a bug-type on the field, it's a 10% chance of Pikachu appearing, 5% of Butterfree and 5% of Beedrill. The first-stage and second-stage ones are too scared / immobile to investigate. The Butterfree and Beedrill, if not attacked, will share honey with a random combatant. This has the same effect as half an Oran Berry.
- No wild Pokémon this round.
- The second Charge Beam raised Elera's Special Attack.
- Yes, Snarl hits all the clones.
- I swear those accuracy rolls are real.

Wow, fast ref! Thank you! Also, fifth gen movesets are the bestest.

Anyhow, good job, my little pug-puppy! You are fierce and angry and I wouldn't have you any other way. Headbutt the bug right in the face, then bring him to his knees with Take Down. Finally...I dunno, use Metronome, that's always fun. If you are suffering from a non-volatile status, swap Heal Bell for your last action. For any action that the bug is protecting itself or has an evasion modifier above 1, use Work Up.

Hmm I have a strategy. This may hurt a little for you, but I assure you, Elera, you'll be able to get all you revenge soon...

Round 2 Begin!

Elera is getting annoyed at this pink, frilly opponent - first he comes and glares at her, and now he gives her this horrible headache. Well, if he's going to be giving out headaches, then just maybe she will respond in kind! She opens her mandibles wide and suddenly lets out a harsh screeching noise, which sets Daniel's ears ringing. He growls and shakes his head, then continues doing what he was doing, which is to say running towards Elera, head down; he barrels into her side and throws her quite a ways through the air, in a neat parabolic arc.

He giggles, seeing her miniscule frame scuttling back towards him, but stops when she lets out another harsh screech, adding to his newly-forming headache. He growls and then suddenly leaps towards Elera in a burst of speed, ramming into her with all his weight; unfortunately, though, he's much larger than her, with the result that he's mostly ramming the ground. He pulls himself upright and winces; that impact did quite a number on him.

Once again, Elera lets out a loud screech, coming now as no surprise to Daniel; this time, though, he decides on an unorthodox technique. Ignoring the now-horrible ringing in his ears, he begins waving his arms in the air; pretty soon he settles into a rhythm, and suddenly he opens his jaw wide and launches a massive torrent of steaming-hot water at Elera, taking him by surprse as much as anyone else. Elera begins eeep-ing loudly and tries to get out from under the deluge, but Daniel keeps it targeted at her until the head becomes too much for him and he is forced to cease, lest he risk burning his jaw.

All right, Elera. I have calculated the massive amount of damage this will do. I want you to keep using Pin Missile until Daniel hits the damage cap. After that, start using Thunder Wave until it hits and has an effect. Then use Toxic. If you get Tormented after the first use of Pin Missile, then use Bug Bite instead in its place.

Pin Missile ~ Pin Missile/Thunder Wave/Bug Bite ~ Thunder Wave/Bug Bite/Toxic

Urk, I don't like this. Ah, well, c'est la vie. You're gonna have to take the first Pin Missile, but set up a Reflect as soon as you can to reduce the damage. Keep it going as long as you can. Next, smack the thing with Super Fang, and finish off with a Thunder Wave of your own!

Round 3 Begin!

Elera is confused. Damagecap? What'sadamagecap? HowdoIknowifhe'shitit? More confusion thrums through her mind, but after a few seconds she just decides to wing it and assume he never has. She wriggles around for a second, then turns so she's facing away from Daniel; the tiny hairs on her skin stand up straight, then she launches them at him, thousands of tiny hairs merging into two seperate volleys. They hit him and tear at his skin, stinging and hurting until the barrage ends. He growls, and in the interests of preventing the same thing again, he concentrates hard; a shimmering, translucent green dome appears around him.

Knowing that her attack was highly effective, she prepares to do the same thing again; the hair launches as before, three volleys this time. Unfortunately, though, the shield now comes into its own; all the hairs that aren't straight on to its surface get stopped dead. About half of them get stopped in this way; the ones that don't just keep on going, tearing up Daniel's skin once more; the ones that do remain stuck to the surface, leaving the dome sporting a stylish hairdo. Growling and bleeding from many tiny cuts all over his skin, Daniel charges towards Elera, pouring energy into his jaws as he goes; by the time he reaches her, there's nearly-blinding light pouring from his mouth. He opens wide, then chomps down as hard as he possibly can, the energy suddenly pouring into Elera and exploding violently. He leaps back, leaving her squeaking and flailing.

Her flaining over, Elera begins her move. The static electricity in her (significantly reduced) fur multiplies rapidly, and she launches it at Daniel in a blast tuned specifically to short-circuit his muscles. The blast hits home, unhindered by the shield, and Daniel's muscles all spontaneously lock into place; he panics briefly before they release, and then he decides to respond in kind. He rubs his short, bristly fur together until a decent static charge builds up, which he launches at Elera. She eeeeps in panic, having her own attack turned against her, but is quickly silenced as her own muscles lock up. They unclench almost immediately, and now both battlers are in the same state of panic.

About five minutes of sleeping-Elera-and-struggling-Daniel later, and Elera uncurls herself, stands up and begins scuttling around some more; Daniel suddenly finds himself able to move and falls down, landing face-first in a pile of sludgey leaves. Well then...Nice job, Elera!

I'd say we should start with a little Spider Web, and restrict Daniel's mobility on the chance that it does get rid of its paralysis at all. After that, use Disable to stop it from paralyzing you again. Finally, I want you to keep Pin Missileing when all that is done. If you're taunted or unable to use the move I want you to use, then just default to Pin Missile, and if at any point you can't use that, default to Fury Cutter.

Round 5 Begin!

Thinking that taking a nice nap sounds highly appealing right about now, Daniel simply lies down, resting his head against a soft pile of leaf mulch, and nods off. The healing properties of this sleep are far more evident in Daniel than they were in Elera earlier, though - the many, many tiny wounds covering his body are slowly but visibly closing themselves, healing over to leave flesh and fur in their place. Elera looks on at the sleeping form in amusement - and he's actually kind of cute like that, really - but then gets down to business, turning her back on him and spinning a web very, very quickly. The web flies towards Daniel as a single, thick thread and then, right above him, burst outwards into a web-shape, falling onto him (straight through his Reflect shield, apparently unhindered by it) with a neat 'thwump'. The sticky web binds very quickly to the floor and Daniel's fur, rendering him immobile even if he wasn't asleep.

Now Elera concentrates, focusing her energy on Daniel the best she can; this becomes visible as what appears to be a glowing cage appearing around him. It shrinks rapidly, disappearing into Daniel himself; he shifts uncomfortably in his sleep, having just lost the ability to use one of his natural techniques.

Since Daniel is still asleep, Elera feels safe to attack once again: still facing away from him, she fires another two volleys of tiny hairs at him. Many of them get stuck on his shield, but those that go through strike home, carving his skin open again. He twitches and grimaces in pain, then suddenly his eyes snap open; he leaps up, wincing as he aggravates his new wounds, and roars at Elera, who simply stares at him.

H'okay. Time to do interesting things. And by interesting I mean it's time for LOVE GAMES! Since she found you so meek while asleep, play that up as you Attract her. (If you can look more bug-like by playing it the web you're in while doing so, it might help her fall for you.) If it fails the first action, try again the second. If you've succeeded, I'd like you to Charm the pants off her for the remaining actions you have. If, by the last action, you are afflicted by a non-volatile status, try your best to get off a Heal Bell on the last action.

All right. Elera, you have the Speed advantage, so that's good. How about this: Before you get attracted yourself, Attract Daniel first. After that, I want you to Thunder Wave him, then finally Pin Missile. I know you may not like him much, but you've got to, for your own sake!

Attract ~ Thunder Wave ~ Pin Missile

1v1 single
Style: set
DQ: One week
Damage Cap: 50%
Banned moves: None
Special: Only Pokémon at their lowest stage of evolution (including single-stage Pokémon)
Arena: Viridian Forest
Description: A small clearing in the leafy forest. There is no ready source of water nearby, and most of the ground is rotten leaf mulch. Caterpie, Weedle, and their evolutions roam the area, but won't come to investigate unless there's a strange bug in arena. The forest's Pikachu, on the other hand, are more than a little curious, and will occasionally run across the clearing. (Ref's discretion whether the wild Pokemon do anything besides look pretty.)

Round 6 Begin!

Her trainer is right - she doesn't like Daniel. But she has to do what he says, she supposes, and so she tries her best to look cute (very successfully), and begins talking to him. She also puts a little bit of her energy behind the words, to give them added power. "Hey, Daniel? You're very cute, you know. And you seem nice. I thought, maybe, we could go out sometime? Maybe?" She mimics being embarrassed, turning away just slightly and squinting a bit, all to give a convincing illusion. It works, too; he suddenly feels a surge of affection for the little creature, and finds himself thinking that maybe it wouldn't be so bad if he were to lay off her a bit. Suddenly he finds himself siezed with an urge to talk back. "Um... thanks! You're really cute too, you know... yeah. Going out sounds pretty good. When would you like to do it?"
Elera suddenly finds herself overtaken by the same infatuation, despite telling herself that it's just a trick.

Still, she thinks she can still just about attack; she closes her eyes and tries not to think of him, loosing a little blast of electricity at him. He gives a kind of roaring scream, and she snaps her eyes open and begins apologizing profusely. "I'm so so sorry Daniel, really! My trainer said to do it, I didn't have a choice... he gives me food and shelter, you know? And this is technically a battle... it's nothing personal. Sorry!"
He responds, "No, that's okay... I know what you mean. I can't really disobey my own trainer either, I guess... so we'll battle and then be friends after? You're really pretty, you know... we could juse attack weaker or something?"

Elera is happy to agree. "Yeah, that works. I'm going to have to attack you... um..." And then she turns her back to him, and launches three (much diminished) volleys of hairs at him. Again they impale themselves on the shield, though a few pierce through and strike him. He winces, and shouts "Um... that was still pretty painful. Is it at all possible for you to tone it down a bit more?"
Elera is happy to agree.
