Metallica Fanboy vs. Psymon

Hm... Let's do one more of these command breaking tricks.

Use Taunt, follow up with Yawn, then finish with a nice super-effective Night Slash.

Time traveling is among the most popular among impossible scientific breakthroughs, and it's for a reason -- ancient things sometimes just sound flat out cool. So, would it also be flat out cool to battle in a desolate corner of the Pokémon world's timeline? Perhaps. Because temperatures in the real-world past were much more extreme than the current ones, the battle will being with Sunny Day perpetually in effect, with a 25% chance that a Rain Dance will kick in for the duration of 2~15 actions. Additionally, there is a 75% chance that an ancient Pokémon will strike a randomly chosen target at the end of the round; each time this occours, the chances will drop by 10%, until they reach 55%; then, they will drop by 5% per occourance, until they reach 5%. At that point, the chance will no longer lower. The following are possible attacks: Kabutops (Earthquake), Omastar (Hydro Pump), Aerodactyl (Sky Attack), Armaldo (X-Scissor), Cradily (Gastro Acid), Rampardos (Head Smash), Bastiodon (Iron Head), Mamoswine (Blizzard), Magikarp ancestor (Hyper Beam), pre-modern man (Wood Hammer). These will never miss, but have normal chances of landing critical hits and activating secondary effects. All rock-type attacks will cause 1% damage and cost 1% less energy, and Ancientpower has twice as many chances to activate its secondary effect. Lastly, this arena is near the sea and surrounded by massive plantlife high cavernous mountains, with a volcano in the vicinty. There is a 1% chance each round that the volcano will erupt.

Round 5 Begin!

After a length of time that the battlers make no attempt to judge (time-travelling sort of messes up your ability to tell how long has passed) where the referee is completely absent, the trainers are just about ready to give up hope. Suddenly, though, with a bright flash of light, the form of a long velvet paisley-covered sofa, a Chesterfield, coalesces into existence, with a girl sitting on it. She appears to have been watching TV, judging by the remote control and nachos; she looks around in puzzlement and thne leaps up off the sofa, demanding to know what is going on. With some difficulty, the situation is explained to her; after a few minutes wherein she discovers that, exactly as she expected, the League-supplied Reuniclus cannot teleport her through time, she agrees to be the referee until the original one returns. Not like she's got anything else to do in this wasteland, right?

Ooh, an interesting stone!

...Um. So, the battle can finally resume. Megatherium grunts in annoyance - he was in the middle of a nice nap - but then pulls himself to his feet. His first action is a nice chance to vent his frustrations, though; with a voice undertoned with dark energy, he begins yelling insults at Zoe. They take hold, and Zoe feels her mind being clouded by rage; suddenly, she can think of nothing more than attacking Megatherium and tearing him to shreds with her bare hands or better yet since she doesn't want to get her hands dirty then how about a nice Psybeam? She raises her hands up high and, bouncing rhythmically, forms a small ball of psychic energy in front of her nose, which suddenly explodes at the front into a beam. The beam strikes Megatherium square in the chest, and he grunts and stumbles back, but quickly recovers.

He's pretty sore in the chest now, and quite angry; nontheless, he pretends to be both bored and tired. He yawns widely, simeltaneously broadcasting his energy towards Zoe as a hypnotic suggestion; she catches both the yawn and the hypnosis, but doesn't show any outward signs of it. Instead, she becomes outlined in a pink glow, and that same glow extends to Megatherium; he suddenly hovers off the ground, and with violent arm movements, Zoe smashes him into the ground several times, then drops him with a thump.

Megatherium staggers upright, then roars in anger; he charges at Zoe, coating his claws in a horrible dark energy and slashing at her. The claws go straight through her body, but the energy latches onto her and she screams, feeling as though she is burning from the inside out. She collapses to the ground, then bounces back almost immediately; she forms another ball of psychic energy, launching it as a beam towards Megatherium, who is knocked over once again, struck in the back this time. As he pulls himself upright, Zoe suddenly suffers a belated effect of that Yawn earlier, and falls over mid-bounce, deeply asleep.

Megatherium observes this with some pride, and so misses seeing a strange, apelike man with a thick forehead, low brow, wide-set eyes and hunched posture walk into the battlefield. The man is dressed in animal skins, clearly some ancient form of Liepard or Persian, and carries a thick wooden club with him. He walks up to Megatherium from behind, and smashes the club down on his head; turning his back on the crumpled form, he approaches the trainers.

"Ug ug urh uuugh uurh, ug urh," he explains. He runs off, climbs a nearby tree, and starts throwing horse chestnuts at the trainers, then suddenly leaps to another tree and vanishes into the forest.

Attacks Used: Psybeam ~ Psychic ~ Psybeam

Damage / Energy Calculations
Taunt - 4% energy (accuracy roll 4, needed 100 to miss)
Psybeam - 6% damage, 4% energy (accuracy roll 65, needed 100 to miss)
Yawn - 5% energy
Psychic - 9% damage, 7% energy
Night Slash - 17% damage, 6% energy (accuracy roll 14, needed 100 to miss)
Psybeam - 6% damage, 4% energy (accuracy roll 92, needed 100 to miss)
Wood Hammer - 12% damage

Notes
- Zoe defaulted to her damaging attacks on all three actions, of course.
- Neither Psybeam caused confusion.
- Nor did Psychic lower Megatherium's defense.
- Night Slash was a critical hit.
- So let's see how many Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy references you can see in there. Any ideas?

Arena Notes
- The sun is beating down on the battlers' heads and shows no signs of abating.
- The Pre-modern Man appeared this round, using Wood Hammer on Megatherium.
- The volcano did not erupt this round.
- Rampardos, Kabutops and Pre-modern Man have appeared so far. Hence the chance of another appearing is 50%.
