Flaress had been commanded to wait for a while before performing her attack, so Dave was given a perfect opportunity to attack first that action. He started to dance around the deck of the boat madly, not being much of a graceful Pokemon. However, his hasty twirls and unbalanced jumps still resulted in a proper finish, and as soon as he waddled back to his position the first few drops of rain began to fall from the sky. In a matter of seconds the entire arena was being pelted with a horrible downpour. Suijin did not feel at all miffed by this, actually happy that his opponent had given him the opportunity to perform his own attack much more powerfully. He called upon the powers of the ocean, and soon the waves the boat was floating on started to increase in size. Flaress was incredibly unnerved by the makings of a gigantic storm that seemed to be appearing. Soon a gigantic wave loomed over top of the boat. Suijin and his clones jumped off and into the cascade, and soon that had swum up to the top of the wave. The torrent crashed onto the deck of the boat, completely immersing the three Pokemon still standing there. Dave and Solosis were protected slightly by the Light Screen, but Flaress took the full force of the attack. Immediately afterward the waves calmed down again, and Suijin, clones following obediently, returned back to the deck.
As the water drained away Sollux shook himself like a dog to remove the water clinging to him. He now felt that the small singe on his membrane had nearly disappeared, which was a relief as that ailment was about to hurt him much more. Using his stores of psychic energy, the Solosis prepared to alter his own primary attribute. As soon as Dave breached the water, Sollux connected them mentally, and using an odd technique they both felt their inner beings change immensely. Dave felt his lust for blood decrease a bit, but he felt much more protected. Sollux felt that he was much more open to the air, and his burn was now hurting much more, but he wanted to destroy his opponents much more. As Mawile’s two Pokemon went through a great changing, Flaress pulled herself out of the water unceremoniously. She growled at her partners, and the Squirtles turned their heads away in shame. Suijin wasn’t trying anything like that again. Flaress stared up at the horribly dark grey clouds. That would not do. She summoned up the true source of her fire-type heritage, and she called out to the sun. Soon the rain began to come down slower, turning into a small shower. Then rays of light began to shine in through gaps in the clouds. With a great flash the clouds broke open and sunlight poured in, heating up the arena greatly. Dave glared at Flaress as his team’s strategy was ruined. At the exact same time the Safeguard surrounding the team disappeared, adding to Dave’s great luck.
Well, not to fret, Dave could very easily return the arena to its present state. He began to dance again, using moves that would make a dance instructor scream in frustration, but still getting the desired effect. The clouds returned and covered the sun up once more, and rain began to fall again. However, Flaress had been expecting this, and she once again called for the sun again. Just as the monsoon really started getting going again the rain began to wither, and the light of day broke through the clouds. Soon the sun was shining brightly once more. Dave and Flaress were now both frustrated that they were accomplishing next to nothing. Suijin was also distressed as he began to dry up in the furious heat, but he had to keep performing. All of the Squirtles ran forward at Sollux, sweating immensely, and delivered vicious bites, their teeth sinking into Sollux’s tough cytoplasm. Suijin recoiled at the horrible taste, both of the gelatinous substance and the dark energy that his fangs were producing. Well, if Suijin was put off, Sollux was beyond that point. The Solosis had been greatly affected by the Bite, and he was just shaking off the dark energy when he realized he had to attack. Well, he wasn’t going to be able to manage it. No Thunders coming from him that turn.
Dave sighed. He had never been good at dance at all, and now his opponent had forced him into a stalemate that forced him to do exactly that. Well, at least his opponent was just as bored as he was. He began to dance once more, now much less enthusiastically, which made his moves more bearable to watch, as sad as it is to admit. Though he knew that he was not really accomplishing anything in the way of Sollux’s attacks, the Solosis was happy to find that because he had constantly been pelted with water his burn had subsided. Flaress of course responded once more, and had the sun come out of the woodwork, shining brightly for all to see. Again. The referee, in a moment of sadistic glee, turned on his iPod and had it play “Here Comes the Sun”. Well, at least he was admitting he was bored. Suijin did also not like these weather changes. He kept thinking he was going to get relief in the wonderful rain, and then he was back in the desert, fighting to survive. Well, maybe that was an exaggeration. He charged forward at the unsuspecting Dave, and this time he finally connected with a Brick Break. His first punch shattered the Light Screen barrier as well, while the second and third strikes hit full on. The Scraggy cringed as his body was used as a punching bag.
Sollux realised at this point that him and Dave had done next to nothing in the current Round. Well, this Solosis was determined to change that. A few clouds still remained in the sky after the last Rain Dance, and Sollux started to channel his almighty attack from there. This time he began to use electrical energy for his attacks, not his usual Psychic powers. Soon the small cloud began to turn a menacing shade of grey, almost black, and one could see sparks of electricity dart across it. Though the cruise ship was now sailing calmly, the cloud still gave the appearance of a horrible storm. As Sollux finished pouring energy into this cloud Suijin looked up and noticed this floating death-mass. He swore in the Squirtle language as a brilliant yellow bolt of electricity came down and struck him perfectly. Solosis had had no trouble with angling the attack in the not so helpful weather, and he rejoiced as he saw his opponent twitch in pain. He had even managed to hit the correct Squirtle, the two clones disappearing as their master was revealed. There, now his team had actually done something. And at the same time the Safeguard surrounding the opposing team wore off, too late for any paralysis from the Thunder though.
