The Pokémon have been miraculously shrunken to fit on a model railroad table, with a working train and everything. To the trainers, the table is only a meter on either side. There's a large lake (relatively speaking) in one corner, and a smattering of trees which condense into a forest at the other corner. By default, the track runs right in between the lake and the forest, though it can be shifted as the trainers wish.

A map of the default layout can be found here.

Railroad tracks can be added or taken away, as can railroad cars. Cars will only be able to move to adjacent spaces which also have tracks on them, and move at a rate of one space (direct or diagonal) per action. They can be controlled (stopped, started, and directed) by the trainers. Each trainer gets one train command per action, and order is determined by the Pokémon's speed. Order can be specific (go northwest) or general (keep going forward). Orders will be ignored when impossible (no track exists or another car is in the way) or if there is a fork and no direction is indicated.

In addition to tracks and cars, trees and mountains can be added or removed. Mountains are impassible barriers except by flying Pokémon, though tracks can be built through mountains to allow passage. Trees can be used for hiding or whatever other clever purpose you come up with. Mountains are noted by "*". Each Pokémon fits approximately in one square, and their positions are noted by "@"

Each trainer can indicate one map change (adding or removing a piece) when they call their attacks in addition to the train directions - indicate the piece (track, car, tree, mountain) and the position (row-column). Trees cannot be layered with anything and cars can only be placed where there are tracks. Mountains can be layered on tracks and vice versa, and though cars can go through mountains if tracks exist they cannot be placed in or taken away from a mountain space.

So, to conclude: In addition to attacks, you need to indicate up to 3 train controls and up to 1 map change.

Round 6 Begin!

Niobium seems remarkably uninterested in the situation at hand, as she simply curls up and nods off to sleep, her clones following suit. Fenris stares - you don't do that in the middle of a battle - but then decides it makes his job easier: his eyes suddenly glow bright red before a glow of the same color envelops the entire table, as well as everything on it. Each of Niobium's sleeping clones fades away, and Niobium herself begins glowing faintly red. She suddenly wakes up, perhaps roused by the Foresight, and hisses at Fenris: those were her clones! Hers!

Now, thinks Fenris, comes time for my last stand. He closes his eyes and concentrates; a deep blue aura suddenly envelops him, and he hurls himself at Niobium. He smashes into her headfirst and suddenly an enormous explosion rings out - all of Fenris' remaining health has been transformed into one final, desperate attack. When the smoke finally clears, several minutes later, the scorched, unconscious body of Fenris can be seen, as can the blackened but far more healthy Niobium, licking herself in some attempt to get the soot off her fur.

Great job, Niobium! You're running a little low on energy and health, though, so let's get you patched up. Start by running as fast as you can to space A13 (inside the mountains) so you have some protection (note: once she's there, I'd like to add a mountain at A14). Round 7 Begin!

Even as Phantom sends out his replacement Pokémon, Niobium takes off into a run, darting towards the strange rock formation near the other end of the board. The new combatant, a Geodude, recognizes that his opponent is fleeing, and decides to do something about it: he reaches down and tears a large rock out of the ground, then, hoping that his aim is good enough, hurls it at Niobium. It flies in a beautiful perabola towards her, landing straight on her head and making her collapse onto the ground. Within the space of a few seconds, though, she's back on her feet and running. She makes it inside the mountainous area, and not a moment too soon: the area of the ground she used to get in juts up into a mountain, trapping her within it. On the other hand, Hephaestus is trapped outside, too.

Now safe within her protective area, Niobium decides that she can have a nap. She curls up and rests her head on her front paws, dozing off quickly. Hephaestus, on the other hand, has figured out an attack that will work even at a distance: he throws his arms dramatically into the air, and suddenly many small, sharp-edged rocks tear themselves out of the ground, slicing at Niobium's skin and throwing her off the spot. She hisses, still asleep, and moves into a more comfortable position.

Even knowing that it will be useless, Haphaestus has to obey his trainer. He clasps his arms to his head and assumes a circular shape, then begins rolling around on the ground. After a couple of minutes of this, it becomes clear that nothing's going to come of it, so the referee calls the round to an end.

Didn't foresee Stone Edge being able to hit... Alright Niobium, at least you got some energy back. This mountain thing isn't really going to work out that well, though, if he can still hit you while you're in there. I'll remove the mountain at B13, then I want you to Yawn and see if you can get him to fall asleep. Next use Night Slash, and assuming he's asleep by then use Dream Eater. Round 8 Begin!

Suddenly, as mysteriously as it appeared, a portion of the mountain shrinks and vanishes into the ground. And inside, of course, is Niobium, who is now awake and ready for battle once more; she still seems somewhat drowsy, though, and yawns widely. Hephaestus, though he's still rolling around, sees it, and like all yawns, it's contagious; he, too, suddenly begins to feel tired, yawning himself. He can't let it distract him, though; he rolls at the nearest mountainous space, crashing straight through it and leaving merely a pile of rubber behind him.

Once she's got over her drowsiness, Niobium leaps forward, preparing to attack her opponent. Her claws lenthen and sharpen, becoming cloaked in dark-type energy; when Hephaestus comes within a good range she slashes at him, the energy giving her the strength to carve into his rocky hide. He rumbles in pain, and continues rolling; suddenly, a bright silver glow begins to envelop him, until he's a smooth, silver sphere. He rolls at Niobium, smashing into her and crushing her into the ground before rolling away again. Suddenly, though, the tiredness from before returns, stronger than ever; he falls asleep mid-roll, the glow fading away and inertia hurling him forward until he crashes into the mountainside.

Niobium grins, and walks slowly towards Hephaestus. She begins licking at his head, casting her mind into his; she sees him dreaming of what appears to be a mountainside, and begins tearing the scene from his mind. She giggles as she feels his energy refreshing her, while he shifts uncomfortably in his sleep.

Round 9 Begin!

As the round begins, the quality of Haephestus' sleep seems to change; it deepens, and the Geodude relaxes, whatever resistance he had previously offered vanishing. In actuality, he's allowing his body's natural recovery processes to go into turbo, recovering the energy he's lost throughout the battle. Niobium, meanwhile, takes a more pro-active approach: she once more extends her mind into her opponent's, observing that the once-calm mountainside of his dream seems to be in the middle of a landslide. She grins, and begins tearing chunks from the mountain, leaving the boulders to bounce randomly all over the place. Withdrawing herself from his mind, Niobium licks her lips, feeling much the healthier.

Suddenly, Hephaestus begins to stir, and then his eyes snap open. He leaps up, growling at Niobium - he doesn't know why, but he feels bizarrely angry with the Purrloin right now.

Round 10 Begin!

For the first few minutes of the round, Niobium opts to have a nice rest, simply curling up and nodding off. Meanwhile, Hephaestus makes a friend. Makes in the most literal sense of the word, since to do so he rips a chunk out of the ground and then gives it some of his energy, and it begins rolling around of its own accord. Hephaestus watches it happily for a few minutes, and suddenly Niobium awakes.

With a hiss, she leaps towards Hephaestus and, cloaking her claw in shadowy energy, attempts a slash at him. Unfortunately, she's intercepted by the clone, which rolls right in the way and takes the hit, deep gashes being carved into its side by Niobium's claws. Hephaestus decides to get out of the entire mess, and begins scrabbling at the ground; within seconds, he's disappeared underneath.

With no better options available, Niobium cloaks her claw in shadowy energy once more, slashing at the rock. It's too much for it to handle, and the rock breaks apart, leaving little pieces of rubble on the ground, while Niobium grins. Her triumph is cut short, though, as the ground under her explodes upwards, throwing her aside to reveal Hephaestus pulling himself out of the new hole. Suddenly, he sees the gravel that used to be his friend; he roars at Niobium, but before he can do anything, the round draws to an end.

Round 11 Begin!

Niobium begins drawing various toxic substances from sources around her body, concentrating them into one big blob of foul purple muck in her mouth. She spits it at Hephaestus, and it begins slowly soaking into his rocky hide. He doesn't feel any immediate ill effects, though, and so he works on attacking: he whips out his arm and delivers a sharp punch to the mountain beside him. It seems to deliver force far beyond what it should, and near the top several rocks suddenly break free and hurtle downwards, landing directly on Niobium and causing her to let out a squeal. Fortunately for her, though, it only takes about a minute for her to wriggle free.

Angry now, she leaps forwards, cloaking her claws in a harsh dark energy. She slices into Hephaestus' rocky hide, carving neat grooves into his head and leaving him stinging badly. He growls, and then dramatically throws his arms upwards; sharp rocks tear themselves out of the ground and slash into Niobium's slide, tossing her over. She leaps back to her feet almost immediately, darting at him and using what little energy she has left to slice into his hide once more. Unfortunately, the exertion is too much for her, and she keels over. As the round ends, Newton recalls his Pokémon and considers what to send out next.
