Squornshellous Beta vs. Ole_Schooler

I didn't read the end-of-round notes closely okay :/
I'm gonna lose this battle so hard I guess that's the risk you take when you play a random battle

I dunno, the battle isn't even at the halfway point, there's plenty of time for the RNGods to abandon me. (I mean, I hope they don't, but they easily could.)

Arena Description: The Third Anomaly
The Third Anomaly is, as its name suggests, an Anomaly. Arceus only knows how the battlers got there or how they'll get out, but such is the way of the universe. Also unknown is how anyone can see, being as there are no visible light sources, but it is as bright as a typical midsummers midday. It is, at least to begin with, an infinitely large plain white platform floating in nothing. As the battle goes on, however, that platform changes to whatever is required by the battle - if, for example, there is a fish Pokémon on the field, there will be a large pond to swim in. There will be air for everyone can breathe. If Sandstorm is used, sand appears. And so forth. The gravity there is only half of Earth's, so each Pokémon is only half as heavy for things like Grass Knot. This also removes any energy cost that Flyers or Hoverers would need to fly or hover, be they Inherently or Consentually.

The most important effect of this Anomaly is that at the end of each round, both Pokémon in battle will have their moveset and ability replaced with that of another Pokémon. This can be any Pokémon in existence, including Legendaries. Also, the Pokémon are dazed and confused after this change, so as soon as the first round is complete and the first change has taken place, the Pokémon can't listen to any commands and their moves are selected randomly, similar to Sleep Talk.

Another of the major effects of the Third Anomaly is that at the end of every round, at the same time as the changes, both battlers' energy is restored to 100%. Not infinite energy, note, so if a Pokémon uses incredibly energy-intensive moves, it could, at least in theory, faint from energy loss. As though to compensate for this, if a healing move is used, it will fail.

The last effect of note is that at the beginning of every third round, a random object will appear. Any object, from sardines to submarines, and they can appear in any manner the ref wants. What they do is also entirely up to the ref. They vanish at the end of the round, again in a manner of the ref's choosing.

Finally, it’s time for the next round to begin! Suddenly, something strange grips hold of Strigiformes. The Hoothoot, controlled by her new Venipede nature, is pulled forward. Before he can stop himself, his mouth opens and a stream of self-compliments comes out as he smiles and patronizes himself. Tomas hears the Hoothoot’s words and growls ferociously out of rage. How DARE that insolent bird try to mock him when he’s been working a LOT harder!? Well, he’ll show her! The Electrike runs forward, only to trip on a rock that appears out of nowhere and fall flat on his face. Hard.

Seeing his opponent’s epic failure. Strigiformes starts laughing. Again, the little owl begins to swagger, rubbing Tomas’s trip right in his face rudely. The Electrike growls again. How. DARE. He. Immediately, the canine decides that his opponent WILL pay for that. He raises his head upwards and howls toward what would be the sky. Suddenly, some large boulders fall out of nowhere, hurling rapidly towards Strigiformes. The owl flinches, trying to get the heck away, but he’s too late; he soon gets crushed under the rocks’ weight and force.

But the rocks disappear soon after. Strigi is up again, and this time he decides to try a less offensive tactic. Without warning, something really hot appears in his mouth. Coughing it up, the Hoothoot soon sees that it is a glowing orange ball. The orb flies upwards, and in a flash the previous Sandstorm is gone and there is a gigantic ball of fire above. Strigiformes gasps at the proximity of the sun, wondering what’s happening; Tomas doesn’t even notice ad he trips again, causing himself even more pain than last time.

Soon, though, the mysterious silver light returns with a vengeance, enveloping both battlers yet again. As soon as it fades, Strigiformes finds himself with limited Fire-type powers, while Tomas hesitantly examines his new Leavanny attributes.

Suddenly, there is a puff of smoke right in front of the referee. What is now there is none other than a beautiful slice of cake, covered in chocolate frosting. Tomas smells the cake almost immediately, and rushes forward, opening his mouth. A supernatural force, the soul of the Leavanny inside him right now, grips hold of him as an ugly greenish light comes from inside his throat. Then, a mountain of silk erupts out of his mouth, flying straight onto Strigiformes and wrapping the Hoothoot. Ugh, how utterly repulsive, he thinks, rushing forward with the best of his ability and tackling Tomas backwards. The Electrike yelps in pain from the attack, falling back.

But, Tomas thinks, ignoring his tiredness. I must get to that cake! I don’t care if it’s a lie! He silently hopes for a move that will crush his opponent so that he can accomplish that goal—but instead, his head seems to get dragged upwards, his mouth opening forcefully and releasing an orange-ish ball of energy, which flies up to the giant sun above and sinks inside. The sun expands a little, and Tomas starts crying inside—that’s NOT what he wanted to do. Regardless, he begins to run toward the cake quickly. He still has a chance…!

…Until Strigiformes comes down from above onto his head. The owl Pokémon’s Stomp forces Tomas to the ground, completely draining the last of his energy. He growls weakly once more, and then slips weakly into unconsciousness. Meanwhile, Strigiformes leaps for the cake, gulping it all down in a few bites. It turns out to be a very old cake—more of a remedy then a dessert. It doesn’t taste very good, but within seconds the sickness in Strigiformes’s stomach subsides. As Ole_Schooler recalls their fallen pokémon, Strigiformes gets enveloped with the silvery light again—this time, he begins to feel some nice psychic powers inside. The familiarity feels good.

Ace finishes examining Strigiformes almost immediately as the round starts. It’s a Hoothoot—a stupid ol’ owl. She hadn’t exactly seen ‘em before in Unova, but she knew they were as stupid as they got—its evolution was the only smart one. So it’d probably be susceptible to a bit of fake love. “Hey, handsome,” she called out, “Wanna go out?” She then proceeded to flatter the Hoothoot in every way she knew how. The little owl fell for the charade immediately, his pupils turning into tiny pink hearts. But that didn’t stop him—he needed to search his opponent’s mind to make sure she was telling the truth. He used the psychic powers of his hypno-tic soul, and looked through his opponent’s conscience. Seeing that the Lillipup seems to be truthful (she is actually doing the same thing she used to fool a lie detector) he begins to recede from her brain, accidentally blasting away a part of her mind. He begins to apologize profusely as he immediately recedes, begging on the ground.

Ace smiles smugly. That Psychic hurt, all right—but it wasn’t fatal and she now knows she has Strigiformes wrapped around her tiniest hair. Even if she were to bite him, he probably wouldn’t mind in this state. So…why doesn’t she go ahead and do that? Ace runs forward, leaping up and opening her mouth wide. She chomps down on Strigiformes’s wing with dark-type energy, but is off before the Hoothoot has any inkling of what’s going on.

Then, Ace decides to push her luck. She’ll probably need help with this battle, and she can get that from extra damage—namely, poisoning her opponent to death. She gathers toxins on her fur, walking forward and shaking them all over Strigiformes. With such a wide attack, the Hoothoot has no way to avoid it, and the poison sinks into his body again. Oh, and he was so enjoying being free of toxins…ahh. Too bad he already wasted the cake. To him, it seems that all he can do is try to get his new love to ease up on the attacks. He hops forward, wings outstretched to hug Ace, but accidentally trips and is sent barreling into the poor Lillipup. Uh oh, he angered her. What now?

Thankfully, the pup’s attention is taken away from the harsh blow by a silvery light. The silver aura envelops her opponent first, and then her—she suddenly feels grass-type energy flowing inside her veins. Uh oh, this can’t be normal. Meanwhile, Strigiformes wonders what kinds of powers is opponent got as he examines his own new Ground-type energy.

Suddenly, some strange powers grab hold of Ace. No, what is she doing? Why are toxins appearing in his fur again? No, she doesn’t want to waste an attack like that—but it’s too late. The Grovilian spirit in her body has pulled her towards her opponent, and she’s already shaken the Toxic attack into the Hoothoot. The toxins come off Strigiformes’ feathers like water off a duck’s back. He smiles at the free chance to just look at Ace’s prettiness, and he’s enraptured fully until the Lillipup attacks again.

Deciding that’s not the way to go, Ace rushes forward again—this time with a different intent in mind. Strigiformes gasps and begins to try to run away, to no avail; his opponent catches up quickly and glomps him to the ground with Dark-type energy. Ow… he thinks, Why’d she have to go and do that? Maybe if he showed her what it felt like she’d see how much it hurt him. He runs toward Ace with the same intent in mind, and though she tries to run away from him he catches up—just like she did to him—and nails her to the ground. Only afterwards does he realize the great evil that he has done, and begins to repent to her.

But Ace doesn’t feel like having any of it. She’s pretty frustrated right now, and the only thing she’s gonna do is take that out on someone—even if that someone thinks she loves him. The Lillipup angrily runs toward Ace yet again. This time she doesn’t even have to chase him—he just lets her catch him and succumbs to her attack. It hurts him a bit less now—she’s so…savage…why is she acting this way if she loves him? He’s so confused that he barely even notices the brownish energy orb that pulls itself out of his body and flies up toward the sky. As winds start and the sand begins to fly around, he snaps back to attention, only to notice the silver light after his soul has been replaced with that of a Voltorb. Ace is gripped again by a foreign power. What was her opponent’s last attack? Yes, Pursuit. Oh, she knows what to do about that. She tries to mimic her foe’s past actions, rushing forward and pursuing Strigiformes as he frantically runs away. The tired Hoothoot is no match for Ace, however, and before long she has made a successful hit on him. Strigiformes sighs. That’s IT. He’s had enough of this mess, and it’s time to stop playing around. If Ace isn’t gonna act like she loves him, then he doesn’t care. He’ll attack her all the same. He immediately gathers up electricity from the air around him, charging it all up. Soon he has enough, and releases it in a concentrated blast. However, instead of hurting his opponent, the Lillipup seems to enjoy the Charge Beam for some reason. Well, at least the excess power has stuck to his body, so it can’t be entirely a bad thing.

But then Ace suddenly bounces high up in the air. Using her powerful hind leg muscles, she leaps up way higher than anything logically should. Strigiformes, who is trying to ram himself angrily into his opponent, is sent tripping away as his opponent jumps out of reach—and then lands on his head. The pressure is almost too much—his bone cracks, and the swirling sand around him does the final justice. Groaning, he falls over in pain, closing his eyes. The red laser of the Poké Ball envelops him, and Ace is too entranced by her victory to notice about her recent soul-switch.

Damage and Energy calculations
•Mimic/Pursuit: 3% damage
•Charge Beam: Restored 5% health
•Bounce: 8% damage
•Rage: Missed
•Protect: --
•Thunderbolt: Failed

Arena Notes
•A Sandstorm is raging (6 more actions)

Notes
•Ace used Mimic, then Bounce.
•Strigiformes used Charge Beam, and Rage.
•Ace dodged Rage, and then hit with Bounce, which would have raised Strigiformes’s attack but it’s already maxed out.
•Charge Beam was absorbed by Ace’s ability.
•Bounce paralyzed Strigiformes.
•The Sandstorm was just enough to seep away the last of Strigiformes' health on action 2.
•For the record, Sandstorm (at least when /I’m/ reffing it) does 1% damage per action.
•Ace became a Bagon.
•This reffing brought to you by: Superbird

Brick, get back out here.
I can't imagine it'll hurt to attack out of turn. Acrobatics, then stay close to Ace - do not let him get out of close range - and use two Zap Cannons. If he stops you attacking with any non-Sub thing push your attacks back an action and Coil instead.
Headbutt / Coil ~ Zap Cannon / Headbutt / Coil ~ Zap Cannon / Headbutt / Coil

Ooh, I found a loophole in the commanded attacks, Ace: they keep referring to some "he," but you're a girl! This will give you all the advantages ever! (Also, you are now bacon I mean a Bagon so go hit things with your head!)

It's okay; I was more trying to mock the habit of "aha I found a loophole!" that a lot of folks have (myself included) and not trying to insult your mix-up. Doesn't help that the name is gender-neutral and the ref mixed it up as well.

waitwait. Beta, you said 'Acrobatics' in your commands but wrote 'Headbutt' in your command string. I'm confuzzled.
