Skyman vs. Zapi

Re: BlinkingSky v.s. Zapi

Seems good to me.

Alright Star, do one last Agility to be faster than Persephone. Then, Fly(down) at her to do some damage. Finally, end with Featherdance so that we can finally get the attack drop we were wanting. If she protects on the last action, then just chill, while if she taunted you before you use featherdance then use Pursuit, for teh lulz.

Agility~Fly(down)~Featherdance/Chill/Pursuit

Re: BlinkingSky v.s. Zapi

Quick question: would the substitute be in the air near Star, or on the ground?

Re: BlinkingSky v.s. Zapi

When Star's still up in the air, just watch carefully for her to come down. Once she's on the ground and you can hit her, use Thunderpunch and then Thunderbolt, which should take out the substitute.

Round III Start

Persephone once again looks at the sky, wondering when her opponent would come back. Her order is to watch carefully, and so she does, looking at the tiny dot that is Star, without blinking once. The Starly, though, doesn’t sit there doing nothing. She flies in circles at a blindingly fast succession, building up even more speed; just to be sure she could finally overcome her gassy opponent.

And then, finally, she dives down. Like a rocket, she crashes into the startled Persephone, which is sent rolling a few meters away. She quickly floats up, though, and begins charging electricity. Once she finds her body sparkly enough, she rushes to Star. However, her course is stopped by Star’s substitute, which had been following her the whole time. The decoy takes the attack like a boss, but apparent cracks form on its torso. Persephone winces angrily.

Using her built up momentum, Star starts flapping her wing forcefully, spraying feathers on Persephone. The light plumage builds up on her and soon she is covered with a feathery cloak, seemingly limiting the edge of her attacks. The Gastly doesn’t need any physical move to take down her enemy, though, and once again begins to charge electricity. This time, however, she doesn’t tackle Star but shoots the electric force at her. The strong current forms an arc that dashes to the Starly, but a second before the impact, her Substitute jumps in fronts of her and receives the blow. Its icy body can take no more and cracks open, leaving inanimate chunks of ice on the ground.

Re: BlinkingSky v.s. Zapi

I won't let that Starly have the advantage on you! Start off with Psych Up to gain some speed, then put her to sleep with Hypnosis. Finally, use Dream Eater to regain some health; unless she isn't sleeping by the last action, in which case forget about putting her to sleep and hit her with Venoshock. If she makes a substitute on the first or third action, Disable the move so she won't be using it again.

Psych Up / Disable ~ Hypnosis ~ Dream Eater / Venoshock / Disable

Re: BlinkingSky v.s. Zapi

Let's be quick with the commands, shall we?

First, protect to prevent her from stealing your speed boosts. Then, use Fly(up) to dodge that hypnosis. Finally, end with Fly(down), but wait until after she performes her commands.

Round IV Start

Persephone looks angrily at the hyperactive bird, and forces herself to calm down. She begins to concentrate into creating a mental link with her opponent, hoping to reveal the secret of her annoying speed, and maybe benefit from it. However, she tries hard, but can’t connect to Star, as if something was in the way… Finally, she gives up, and opens her eyes, just to see the infamous green energy shield shatter in front of a happily squeaking Star.

Again, the ghostly gas makes an attempt at connecting with the flying-type, except this time she uses a hypnotic glare to catch the Starly off-guard. The bird however, has better things to do, and soars up to the skies again with great force. Persephone continues to glare at the small dot in the sky, however her efforts are vain; Star is far too high to be affected in any way by her attack.

Persephone finally decides that the best way to calm down her annoying opponent is o take her down. With this frightening idea in mind, she powerfully spits a crazy cocktail of various poisons that flies to Star; however it quickly decreases in speed and crashes down before actually touching the flying-type. In response, Persephone’s opponent folds up her wings and takes the form of a bullet, a bullet that dashes towards the Gastly at high pace. Before Persephone can even look up, the Starly pierces her once again, smashing her to the ground. The Gastly hisses at her opponent, who squeals in pain as the poison flowing in her veins takes its toll.

Eep, your energy is getting pretty low. How about you just Chill this entire round? If she tries to steal your stat boosts, however, then Protect. If you are taunted, then use Ominous Wind.

Chill/Protect/Ominous Wind x3

We can't let this happen, now can we? First, Torment Star so she doesn't just sit there chilling the whole round. Once that's done, Scary Face and then Icy Wind to mess up her speed. If she tries to use ominous wind on the second action, Protect.

Round V Start

Star sighs in relief as she hears her trainer’s commands. Finally, she has some time to rest! She lands and closes her eyes, joyfully napping. Persephone, meanwhile, comes up with a very nasty trick. She grins, and then starts yelling insults at Star. “Hey, little chicken!” Star looks at the Gastly, eyes full of surprise. “Yeah, you! You think you can beat me with your oh-so frightful naps? Be a bird and fight, you cock-a-poodle!”.

Even if not exactly sure of what her opponent’s last word meant, Star certainly doesn’t want her to get away with it. Completely unaware of her trainer’s orders, Star rushes to the Gastly and begins to slap her furiously with her spread wings, even hurting herself a bit in the process. Persephone is left dizzy by the attack, but it was more impressive than damaging. The gas Pokémon is proud of the effects of her Torment, and decides to play around Star’s volatile emotions a little more. She gathers some energy, prepares a delightfully scary grimace, and finally pops up directly in front of the Starly. She peeps in surprise, her poor little heart stopping for a few seconds as she flies away (or more runs away while crazily flapping her wings) from the monster. Persephone laughs at the despair of her opponent, grinning even more madly than before. Star, now a few steps (meters) away from her opponent, decides she would just… try to take her time. Because, you know, she would have more time to, uh… analyse her foe. Yeah.

But for the moment, just keeping herself away from that… thing could be more productive. So Star just sits there, relaxing her muscles for a while. Persephone, however, has slightly different plans for her. She takes a deep breath, then releases a gust of frozen wind in Star’s direction, bathing the area with ice along the way. The small bird is blown away, and discovers with horror that the icy hurricane had formed a thin layer of ice between her feathers, visibly hampering her movements. Decidedly, that Gastly wants to make her life difficult.

Hm well, you're not in the best shape there Seph, but you're better off than Star at least. Hypnosis until you can get her to sleep, then Dream Eater. If you've done both of those things by the last action, or if you cannot reach Star, chill. If she somehow manages to fly up in the air on the first or second action, Icy Wind (which should hit with reduced accuracy?).

Alright Star, Protect on the first action to at least delay falling asleep for as long as possible. Then, on the second action, use Swagger because normal non-damaging moves still affect ghosts(they do! Just look it up). Finally, end with an Ominous Wind. If you fall asleep at any time, just use Sleep Talk.

Round VI Start

Persephone gives a quick look at her opponent, and the restless Starly emotionlessly stares back at her.

Persephone sighs.

She suddenly has the troubling feeling the battle would never end… The Gastly looks at the empty sky, as if it could give her answers, as if the big blue could grab her and take her with it…

A very abrupt and piercing cry from Star quickly returns her to reality. Although she really just wants to go home, she finally focuses on her nemesis and concentrates, trying to get hold on Star’s blank gaze. She finally catches her eyesight, and begins to invade her mind with hypnotic suggestion. Before she can totally fail Star’s consciousness, though, a green energy shield erupts in front of the Pokémon, totally cutting the contact between the opponents. Persephone, startled, breaks the shattered link. After a few seconds, the shield vanishes and the Pokémon once again look at each other, impassive.

Persephone sighs.

For a second time, she tries to lock the peeping bird’s seeing, manipulating her mind with her own somniferous glare – and this time again, the light headed Starly frees from the mental grip with a frenetic flurry. Still flapping, Star starts to squeak loudly, praising herself as “The most awesomest mofo in the area”, degrading Persephone at the same time. The Gastly, infuriated, tries not to jump at Star’s face, and the Starly continues to brag for several seconds, until she finally stops, proud of the effect of her ego trip. Persephone can’t help but curse remarkably at her rival. She stays cool-headed, though, and soon she calms down, although still pumped up and ready to batter the little sucker’s face.

For the third time, she makes an attempt at seizing her adversary’s dodgy spirit. Once again, though, her try is obsolete and Persephone fails to put her frivolous opponent to sleep. The Starly is simply to hyperactive to stay focused on her hypnotic gaze, and a simple distraction frees her from her soporific energy.

Persephone sighs.

Star, meanwhile, soars up and begins to describe circles in the air, flying at low altitude. She gathers the small amount of energy she has, her wings slowly turning to a more black-ish tint. She dives, and then ascends just in front of Persephone, wings open, her small body forming a cross. She hangs there, as if time itself had stopped, before forthwith releasing all of her ghostly energy in a single flap of her undersized wings. The ominous wind burns her gassy skin, leaving searing wounds here and there.

Persephone, with all the gloominess and melancholy of her tormented spirit mournfully sighs before her miserable situation.

Round VII Start

Star, even at the very beginning of the round, is panting. She only has little energy left, and her opponent knows it. Persephone, well aware of the Starly’s condition, decides just to let wear herself off. No effort needed. The Gastly lands, eyes closed, and fells in a particular meditation state, a white aura engulfing her.

Star begins to flap her wings frenetically once more, gathering ghostly energy and charging her wings with it. She then soars up, flying on top of the unaware Gastly like a vulture over its prey. After few moments, she dives down like a bullet, fending the air itself. However, an instant before crashing on Persephone, she soars up again, and at the same team releasing the ominous wind she had kept within her wings. The horrible ghostly blow sweeps the Gastly and sears her gas-like skin, making her wince in her half-sleep. She keeps her eyes closed, though, concentrated on her rest. Once again, Star flies over her, blowing the repulsive wind. Even as the attack burns her skin again, Persephone stays still, eyes shut, the white aura glowing gently, restoring her energy slowly.
Star, for the last time, looks at her opponent. She was getting really, really tired, and she is relatively convinced her next attack would be the last. Nevertheless, she dives down, and as the dark energy builds up in her wings, she suddenly feels stronger. Her body feels swifter, her wings feel stronger, her mind sharper. Her entire body begins to feel ethereal… And as she crashes down to Persephone, she doesn’t blow the wind – she becomes the wind.

Gathering all the energy she has left, the Starly, along with the ghostly tornado she is engulfed in, slams in Persephone. The Gastly quickly finds herself trapped in the dark twister, her skin searing as if she was trapped in a Magma Storm. She tries hard to concentrate on her meditation, but the wind cuts her skin like a thousand sharp blades, and she can’t help but scream in agony. When the ominous wind finally releases her, multiple searing wounds all over her body are releasing a black gassy blood. Persephone takes a few moments to recover, then gives a quick look at her opponent.

The Starly is, while extremely worn out, still standing, fiercely gazing at her.
