Arena Description: The Third Anomaly
The Third Anomaly is, as its name suggests, an Anomaly. Arceus only knows how the battlers got there or how they'll get out, but such is the way of the universe. Also unknown is how anyone can see, being as there are no visible light sources, but it is as bright as a typical midsummers midday. It is, at least to begin with, an infinitely large plain white platform floating in nothing. As the battle goes on, however, that platform changes to whatever is required by the battle - if, for example, there is a fish Pokémon on the field, there will be a large pond to swim in. There will be air for everyone can breathe. If Sandstorm is used, sand appears. And so forth. The gravity there is only half of Earth's, so each Pokémon is only half as heavy for things like Grass Knot. This also removes any energy cost that Flyers or Hoverers would need to fly or hover, be they Inherently or Consentually.

The most important effect of this Anomaly is that at the end of each round, both Pokémon in battle will have their moveset and ability replaced with that of another Pokémon. This can be any Pokémon in existence, including Legendaries. Also, the Pokémon are dazed and confused after this change, so as soon as the first round is complete and the first change has taken place, the Pokémon can't listen to any commands and their moves are selected randomly, similar to Sleep Talk.

Another of the major effects of the Third Anomaly is that at the end of every round, at the same time as the changes, both battlers' energy is restored to 100%. Not infinite energy, note, so if a Pokémon uses incredibly energy-intensive moves, it could, at least in theory, faint from energy loss. As though to compensate for this, if a healing move is used, it will fail.

The last effect of note is that at the beginning of every third round, a random object will appear. Any object, from sardines to submarines, and they can appear in any manner the ref wants. What they do is also entirely up to the ref. They vanish at the end of the round, again in a manner of the ref's choosing.

Squornshellous Beta thinks for a second, but only a second; a moment later she has tossed a familiar Ultra Ball out on the arena. Out of it bursts Brick. The Eelektrik is not amused to see this place again, but is also feeling more fit to battle than when she went out. She bares her fangs at her new opponent, getting ready to fight as the ref waves his flags.

Well, a new opponent means a new strategy, right? Ace has just that in mind. She looks at her feet, soon thinking that what few claws she has on them aren’t enough. Well, that can be remedied! She soon begins the process of sharpening them, increasing her power in the process. Brick, looking on, seizes the chance to coil herself up, tightening her muscles to their limit. In the process her body is strengthened—a perfect counter to her opponent’s tactics.

Soon, Ace finishes sharpening her claws and looks at her opponent. That’s when she sees what Brick has done. In a rage, she rushes toward her opponent and tackles her out of rage. But the [admittedly somewhat weak] attack doesn’t faze Brick in the slightest. Instead, the eel pokémon coils herself up like a spring, launching herself into the air. She does as many fancy tricks as possible while she’s up there, then comes down right on top of her opponent. Ace gasps from the pain, tossing her opponent off of herself.

And as a follow-up to her last move, Ace rushes toward her opponent. She’s pretty annoyed now that her previous attack went so badly and that her opponent has been countering her so much. Concentrating briefly, she mixes all of her frustrations into one attack as she braces herself and barrels into Brick. The Eelektrik tries to stand her ground, staying in place as she readies her last attack of the round. Then, she releases it; a massive cannon of electricity, at point-blank range. Ace is thrown far, and the massive amount of electricity from the attack courses through her veins, staying in her body and locking up many of her muscles.

Only after the Zap Cannon does Brick notice a familiar white glow enveloping her and her opponent. She's blinded for a second, and then begins to fade out of existence for a few seconds. Sweet, she's a ghost-type now! Meanwhile, Ace finds her head filled with strange, prehistoric thoughts and wonders why.

Suddenly, to start the round, an ancient force grips Ace. The Lileep whose soul she is inhabiting right now commands her to begin an ominous chant; and so she does. Brick watches the ancient prayer nervously. What could her opponent be doing!? Anyhow, whatever it is she has no part in it. Instead, she opens her mouth upwards and lets out a flurry of water to cover her body with. And right when Ace finishes the chant, all the water suddenly flies toward her. As the Water Sport flies inside Ace’s tiny body, it converts itself into energy for her to use.

Brick pauses to think. What was that? It just…what did it do? But her thoughts are interrupted as she sees a glowing white light (how she saw a white light in this dimension we shall not question) coming from her opponent. Ace is absorbing energy from the anomaly, charging it all up in her head. Soon, she has enough, and from between her eyes she releases a thin but dense beam of light which hones in on Brick. The attack hurts a lot—but Brick cannot help laughing at her opponent. She begins to smile smugly, and insults and self-praise start flying out of her mouth without her control.

Brick’s Swaggering hits Ace’s soft spot. How dare that insolent little eel dare to insult her? She just pulled off an extremely successful attack, and she’s in the LEAD. That damn Eelektrik has no right to swagger around like that when she’s the one who’s been working her butt off for longer out here. Soon, the Lillipup is blinded with rage, rushing toward her opponent in spite of her paralysis…but then she trips, sprawling flat on her face right in front of Brick. The Eel pokémon doesn’t question her luck, and only opens her mouth to drool some toxic liquid on Ace’s small brown body. The poison seeps into the puppy’s veins, set to cause trouble in the future.

As the round draws to a close and Ace angrily slinks back to her side of the arena (that is, if the arena even has sides), the silvery glow comes again. It envelops both battlers, and though Ace barely notices it, Brick is quite interested in her new abilities. And wait, why is she so sleepy? And hungry? On the other side of the arena, Ace’s new soul has its own ability—it suddenly makes her see that she’s confused, and helps her to work herself out of it.

After her new transformation, Ace searches her mind for moves she can use. Hopefully she can find some interesting, diverse ones—wait. Where are all the moves? The Lillipup searches her mind for any moves she knows, falling upon one and only one. Sketch. Well, she thinks, It’s worth a shot… She conjures a sketch pad out of thin air, and then draws a battery attached to a lightbulb and a balloon, which all pop out of the sketch pad and float across the arena. Then, she gets to work on sketching out her opponent’s last attack. Was it toxic? Yeah, she thinks she can do that…soon, there’s a nice, unforgettable sketch of a Toxic attack on her sketch pad.

Brick, meanwhile, stares in confusion at her opponent. Well, whatever, she finally decides. It’s time for her to attack, anyway. She slithers forward, her tail gaining an orange, fiery aura, and as soon as she’s close to Ace she slams her tail on the Lillipup’s side. Ace slides along the ground a few feet from the attack. What should she do? Well, maybe she could try out that Toxic attack? Yeah, why not? Using her drawing for instructions, Ace gathers plenty of toxins in her fur, then shakes them out so that most of them land on the retreating Brick. The poison, like usual, seeps into the Eel’s skin and falls into her bloodstream.

In the meantime, since she doesn’t feel anything yet, Brick decides to retaliate for her poison. She gathers as much power as possible, then rushes forward at top speed, slamming her tail into Ace once more; but this time with much more power. There is a loud ‘CRACK’ as the Eel pokémon makes contact, and Ace is thrown through the air to the side. However, instead of immediate retaliation, all the Lillipup can think about is trying to use that strong attack herself. She pulls out her sketchpad once more, drawing a detailed diagram of the attack she just witnessed.

But this is all lost to Brick, who’s more than ready to finish her opponent. She uses the normal-type powers of variety from the Snorlax soul she currently possesses to conjure some large seeds inside her mouth. Then, she flings the barrage away into her opponent. On contact, each of the seeds explodes in a large blast. The impact is too much for Ace; she can’t stay conscious as she falls over, eyes closed.

Brick cheers for herself as her opponent is engulfed by the red beam of her Poké Ball. She is victorious! She’s done it, with barely a scratch this round! She…now has ghost-type powers. Ooh, cool!~

After a few moments of thinking about where the heck he is, Dawg decides not to think about it. It’s probably in his benefit to do so anyway; it looks like a pretty weird place, and he figures he’ll figure it out soon enough anyway. Instead, he puts his arms out to his side, focusing hard to create a mass of energy between them. As a brownish-orange ball of energy grows between his hands he knows he’s doing it right, and after a few more seconds he flings the Focus Blast at his opponent. His aim is true, and the attack explodes on his already-weakened opponent. Brick, no matter how much she wants to go on, just can’t take any more, and her body drifts into unconscionsness as she’s recalled into her Ultra Ball.

Dawg has little time to cheer, however. He’s about ten seconds into his victory dance when he stops abruptly, noticing a strange silver aura entering the vicinity. A brief moment later, the aura is much stronger, and he is covered in the silvery glow that all the humans involved know by heart. Frightened, Dawg panics, but it does nothing to stop the silver light from replacing his memory with that of another pokémon…and soon, the Riolu is left wondering why he suddenly has an urge to go sip honey from flowers.

Dawg shakes his head. Okay, something is definitely wrong here. He looks around, then begins to knock himself lightly on the head. A Sucker Punch would be really handy right now, he thinks, but try as he might he can’t remember even in the slightest how to perform the attack. So what does he know how to do? The first thing that comes to mind is…to snore? That’s so ridiculous that he can’t help but chuckle a little. How’s he supposed to snore when he’s not even asleep? Clearly his subconscious is joking with him…but it doesn’t give him any other options before he gets hit by a gigantic psychic blast. Dawg spins around to see Ni Wá Wa with its arms in front of it, having just clearly performed a successful attack.

Well, that was rude! Doesn’t that thing have any courtesy? Well, apparently not. Dawg isn’t even sure if his top-like opponent even has a sentient brain or not. But the time to be confused is later. Now, he might as well se what he can do against his opponent. He searches through his new memories, and the first ove he comes across…is a bit weird. How is he supposed to make a gust of wind? Blow? Well, he might as well try. Dawg breathes in deeply and then blows out as hard as he can. The Third Anomaly does the rest as the breath is transformed into a strong tornado that rips through NiWá easily. But the Baltoy is experienced with spinning and manages to avoid the brunt of the attack, instead launching another focused psychic blast at its opponent.

Okay, NOW Dawg is getting annoyed. He’s barely even scratched his opponent, while he’s already lost more than a quarter of his vitality! Not fair at all. Maybe with one final move he can attempt to retaliate…and so he does. He rushes forward this time, opening his mouth wide and gathering Bug-type energy in it. Then, he chomps down on NiWá’s arm. This time, he finally gets a reaction out of the Baltoy as it recoils; but then, spinning back into place it glows with a bright blue light and expels another blast of psychic energy which throws Dawg back again. As the Riolu stands up, clutching his aching head, he begins to silently vow revenge against his opponent.

But before the round can end, a silver light comes down from above. Dawg looks up, gasping. That’s the thing that replaced his memory. Maybe it’ll restore it now? He closes his eyes in anticipation…but he has no such luck. Instead, he finds himself with a new normal-type theme across his mind. Meh, could be worse. Meanwhile, this is the thing that gets the biggest reaction out of NiWá, as the Baltoy begins to spin frantically to get rid of its new, unwanted Venonat memories.

Before the round can truly begin, a dark void appears to the battlers’ side. Out of it drops a large dinosaur, lightly asleep. Dawg looks nervously at it; that thing is probably very, very dangerous. Better stay away by attacking his opponent instead. Opening his hand and thrusting it toward Ni Wá Wa, the Riolu produces a flurry of yellow stars which all dash through the air and hone in on his opponent. But instead of a real retaliation, NiWá begins to spin quickly, glowing with a white light. It disappears in a flash of light; and then reappears. What a rip off.

But Dawg doesn’t let that trouble him. It’s completely possible his opponent is going to attack next action, and he wants to be ready to dodge it. He begins to run rapidly in a circle, becoming a black-and-blue blur until he stops, five clones trailing behind him—or is it the five clones leading? NiWá can’t tell, but that’s all right. It begins to spin anyway, releasing a flurry of yellowish-green dust which floats toward Dawg. He and his clones all make every effort to dive out of the way of the attack, and all but two of the succeed, the other two fading out of existence.

Dawg is now slightly discouraged by the loss of his clones. But he has others. And it’s time to create another line of defense! The Riolus all concentrate, and a white orb pulls itself out from each of their bodies, combining in the middle to form a green and tan little dinosaur-looking doll. The Substitute bounces slightly, ready to protect its true creator from any harm. Meanwhile, NiWá has readied itself , spinning fiercely, and immediately launches itself at the furthest Riolu it can see. Unfortunately, its body flies right through the clone as it fades out of existence.

Disappointedly, although no one would ever notice this, Ni Wá Wa circles back to its original position. Maybe the next round will bring better luck, it thinks as a silver light begins to envelop it and its opponent. When the light fades, it discovers that it probably doesn’t have a very good chance. But judging by its opponent’s reaction it might do better than it thinks.

•Double Team: --

•A Tyrannosaurus Rex appeared in the arena, lightly asleep. If it were struck by any type of attack or was woken by a particularly large sound it would attack whichever battler woke it up for 20% typeless damage. No one woke this thing up.

Notes
•Dawg used Swift, Double Team, and Substitute.
•Double Team produced 5 clones, and Substitute randomly was 10% large.
•NiWá used Baton Pass (this failed), followed by Stun Spore, which due to its range hit two clones instead of one, and then Double Edge (which also missed).
•NiWá turned into Strigiformes.
•Dawg is now a Pichu.
