Round X Start

As the tenth round opens, the two adversaries stare at each other, motionless. They exchange vaguely intimidating roar of their own. Whirr begins to gather energy, grinding and whirring, and a silvery orb slowly forms in front of it. Soon it has the size of a watermelon, and the gear Pokémon shoots it forward, its two parts rotating furiously. It describes a straight line to Tirtouga, and explodes on impact, spraying small energy spheres around. The prototurtle cries in pain – the flash cannon had hit her on the throat, and had left her searching for her breath. She tries hard to hide her weakness to her rival, though. She stays still for a few moments, panting, and then screams: "HA! Is that all you can do! It was barely tickling! You are one powerless little machine, you know?" The insults work their magic, and soon the Klink is violently trashing about, whirring angrily.

Both Pokémon then start attacking mercilessly, Whirr shooting silvery bullets like a madgear, all of them exploding around Tirtouga in blazing deflagrations. Its opponent, meanwhile, stomps the ground heavily, making it crack open as several fissures forms all over. The earth seems to explode under Whirr, and it is battered by spears of rock sprouting out. Both of them continue their barrage of attacks for several minutes, hoping to open a gap in their foe’s defenses, but as the round comes to an end, they are both still standing proudly.

Bruised like hell, though.

Notes:

- The first Flash Cannon and the last Earthquake were both critical hits.
- No confusion this round. Tough luck, Lucas.
- Sorry for the short reffing, guys, but repetitive rounds are annoying to stretch.

Arena Notes:

- The entire area looks like a meteor just crashed. Large fissures are open like gaping mouths all over the place, chunks of rock are scattered everywhere and all plant life had been completely engulfed by the raging earth.

Fine then. We just need them to be confused twice... Good luck.

Somehow I forgot this, but Klink is an inherently hovering Pokémon, so Earthquake misses, along with all other ground-type moves.

So, uh, I have ~35% more health right now (50% if you count the Earthquake before).

Well, if you do, can I switch all of my Earthquakes after the first round of using it to some other attack? I certainly wouldn't have kept using it after that first round, had it failed.

EDIT: Okay, so what we'll do is:

1. The first EQ didn't work, because Klink is an inherently hovering pokémon. So it is immune to Earthquake.

2. The other EQs hit. Because when EQ was first used nobody stated that Klink was immune to them in the first place, even though one of the battlers is an advanced ref. ERHM.

3. Lucas reorders.

Thank you for your comprehension. brb editing stuff.

Well, this situation is much more hopeless than before. I guess it's confusion + flinch hax time.

In all fairness, all three of us are refs (and have been for at least a month or two, I think), so, frankly, I'm surprised it only got caught now. Also, I only remembered after I saw Klink's hovering sprite in Black.

Flash Cannon (x3), but if you feel a wave of confusion coming on, Chill.

Round XI Start

Whirr, confident it would be able to easily finish its foe, starts to gather metallic energy, once more. However, the world around suddenly becomes twisted and nauseating, and it is unable to concentrate well enough – the flash cannon all of a sudden seems very unstable. According to his trainer’s orders, he stops trying and just concentrates on restoring its energy a little, a white aura starting to glow around it. Tirtouga, meanwhile, gathers all of her courage and coats herself in a thick veil of swirling water, before hurling herself at Whirr like a watery H-Bomb. She heavily crashes on her foe, smacking him down on the ground in the process. Whirr, upon impact, makes a very worrying klunk sound, and Whirlpool shivers.

Tirtouga stays there, trying to keep her opponent on the ground. Her very heavy body assures a firm hold, and for a second she truly believes the victory could be hers. But suddenly, all of her hopes vanish as her belly starts to glow silver. Rays of light start to erupt from under her, and soon the power of the flash cannon is too much for her to handle, and she is propelled in the air as if she was standing on a geyser. She heavily crashes on the ground, unconscious.

Whirr floats up slowly, seemingly battered and crushed by Tirtouga’s not so light shell, but still whirring happily.

Not bad, Tirtouga. May as well go out with a bang. Against my better judgement, I'll send out Ferroseed.

Do you use base stats (as described by Kratos) in your damage totals?

Thunder Wave, then Rock Smash (x2). If he Protects, Shift Gear and move everything down an action.

Pre-Round

Lucas recalls his Pokémon and throws his last Pokéball of the battle. Out comes a small and spiky metallic creature, with scary yellow eyes. As soon as he is sent out, the Ferroseed begins to spin in a top-like fashion, his spiky armor flashing in the autumn light.

<Iron Thorns>
Held Item: Rocky Helmet

Round XII Start

The boosted-up Klink springs into action first, grinding its gears together and slowly but surely gathering a small amount of electricity. Once it is large enough, it releases it in a shockwave, which flows over the ground and hits the Ferroseed. The spiky Pokémon, however, is completely oblivious to the attack, as he is already slow enough – he doesn’t even notice the small breakdown of his nervous system, as he has no limbs to feel stiffened. He just closes his eyes and concentrates. His metallic armor begins to glow sharp silver, and after a few moments, it seems thicker and shinier. It opens his eyes and stares scarily at his opponent.

Whirr isn’t intimidated at all, though, and focuses on his own attack. The improbable happens: one gear separates from the other and is propelled in Ferroseed’s direction at an alarmingly fast pace. The sharpened gear strikes him with a rock-breaking might, but his stiff armor resists and the grass-type stays still, solidly anchored to the ground by his sticky thorns. The gear is attracted back to the other by a strong magnetic force, and when the two parts connect with each other again, it is noticeable that one of them has several more scratches than the other – the combined edge of Ferroseed spiky body and craggy helmet left quite a mark on Whirr’s metallic limb. Meanwhile, the Ferroseed shines again and his armor stiffens once more, looking even bulkier and sharper than before.

Whirr, growing annoyed by his opponent’s motionlessness, propels his gear once more – the other one, this time – which strikes the Ferroseed like a punch. Even if the hit left Whirr with an additional number of scratches, this time, Ferroseed’s steel armor shatters under the pressure of the hit. He stays silent and immobile as always, though, as a barely noticeable dark aura surrounds it, sharpening his thorns and making them pointier, stiffer and longer.

Whirr whirrs in desperation; the Ferroseed had hurt him without even moving!

Round XIII Start

Whirr wasn’t feeling so swell at that point. Its gears were making a very worrying jerky sound and they were covered by scratches. Nevertheless, the Klink was first to sprawl into battle (not that Ferroseed offered much competition though). It rushed head first to its grass-type adversary, solidly locking him between its gears, and started grinding with a rage-filled force. The iron-clad armor of the thorn Pokémon subtracted him from any major damage, but Whirr itself felt his foe’s iron spikes penetrate deeper into its metallic skin. Its pain receptors went crazy, but it had to keep its hold - at any rate. Oblivious the Whirr’s tight vice, Ferroseed once again sharpened its iron thorns, and they dug deeper in the Klink’s melted armor.

Still firmly locked to his opponent, the gear Pokémon attempted an entirely different strategy. He generated an electric current from inside his core, letting the unstable energy build up slowly. In normal situations, dodging this attack would have been laughably easy, but the two gears were preventing any form of escape. Whirr could have found the situation very encouraging if Ferroseed’s expression didn’t stay cold as stone. The Pokémon was keeping his yellow gaze still, revealing no emotion besides cold professionalism.

Whirr, while slightly shaken by his foe’s poker face, focused on its attack. The Zap Cannon was now fully charged and its entire body was radiating a bright yellow. When the electricity began to crackle dangerously, the Klink finally released it. It exploded between the battlers and bathed them in a sea of sparkling electrons, illuminating the battlefield like a second sun. The battlers hid their eyes in a hurry – the sudden light was as dangerous as staring the sky during an eclipse. When it faded, the two battlers were still standing, still locked to each other and partially roasted.

Ferroseed was, as always, staring into nothingness. Once more, he began to sharpen his thorns, restlessly. Once again, they grew in size and penetrated Whirr’s iron armor, but at that point they reached what we could call the critical point. The Klink couldn’t bear any more damage from its searing burn and the combined roughness of Ferroseed’s armor and helmet. All of its systems shut off instantly, and Klink suddenly loosened its hold on the iron-clad vegetable and dropped to the ground.

- Zap Cannon worsened Ferroseed’s paralysis.
