Pre-Round
In a red flash, Whirr disappeared. Whirlpool, after a moment, settled on avoiding the obvious way, and he grabbed a Dusk Ball on his belt, and threw it with might. The device cracked open and exhaled a black mist that hung up in mid-air, before finally dissipating and revealing Wisp the Gastly. Lord of the Fireflies waved at him and he grinned back. Quite a formidable opponent he had been, and the Gastly was ready to prove its worth again.
Turning to his foe, Wisp instantly lost his smile. Another steel-type – he glared at his trainer. Whirlpool’s only answer was a short, nervous laugh. Wisp sighed and concentrated on the battle. If he lost the other one, he was growing used to steel-types, their low speed and painful physical attacks. This could only turn to his advantage.

Round XIV Start
Wisp quickly analyzed his foe. The Ferroseed’s thorns were far pointier than he had ever seen before, and his armor was noticeably thicker. Surely, this Pokémon had reinforced his natural weapons earlier in the battle - and Wisp had exactly the right answer to that. Using his natural affinity with gases, he spewed a strong breath of frigid air, which plunged the entire battlefield in a thick fog. The humid air quickly attacked Ferroseed’s metallic composure, blunting his iron spikes and rusting his otherwise though skin. The Pokémon showed no sign on discomfort, though – this little guy had a real future in poker.
Enjoying the new temperature, Wisp was happily floating about, careless. He was only paying little attention to his opponent when he heard a very vindictive remark – surely it was addressed to him. He turned to Ferroseed, who was as always motionless (and expressionless) and gazing in his direction. Since he lacked an apparent mouth, it couldn’t be him… could it? The Gastly looked around curiously, but besides the battlers and the humans, no one was frolicking on the plain. Another insult flew to him, and this time Wisp was 110% sure it was the steel-type. Once more, he turned to him in anger, and Ferroseed kept on jabbering like crazy,
but he had no mouth. Sounds were only… coming out of him, as if he was a living speaker or something. Nevertheless, he was quite offending for a mouthless Pokémon, and soon Wisp found himself in a blind rage, wanting to shred the thing apart.
And the Gastly knew what would hurt. Steel-types hate fire, don’t they? And unlike his previous foe, Ferroseed was far from comfortable with fire. Madly laughing, Wisp spitted a formation of small fireballs, which flew lazily over Ferroseed. Being so motionless, he was unable to avoid even the slow Will-O-Wisp – the purple flames landed on his side and left searing marks. If it wasn’t of the humid fog, I might have just caught in fire. Still, he stayed emotionless, and preferred to replicate with a status attack on his own – generating a small amount of energy, he released it in a shockwave, which swept the field before striking Wisp directly, disrupting his nervous system and rending his movements somewhat jerkier. As if it wasn’t enough, Ferroseed began to charge another electric current in his metallic organs – a much more important one, this time. Before Wisp could even realize what was happening, he was struck by an electric arc, spreading sparkles all over and making him hiss in agony.
The Gastly took a few moments to regain control of his organs, and stared at Ferroseed, red-eyed. The worst part was the Pokémon’s blank look, as if he didn’t give a damn about his opponent. Wisp’s confidence was dwindling, so decided to take a more offensive approach. He concentrated and activated the volatile gases deep within himself; effectively putting himself on fire. Now surrounded by a fiery cloak, Wisp rushed to his opponent, raging. He heavily crashed on the Ferroseed, spraying fire but also viciously wounding himself on the iron thorns. Quickly forgetting his own pain, he searched for a sign of response in the steel-type. After a few seconds, when the smoke finally vanished, Wisp caught the sight of Ferroseed’s face.
He was
frowning.

Notes:
- Not much to say here, except the fact that Ferroseed outpacing Wisp on the last action was for flavor; it didn’t change anything.
Arena Notes:
- The entire area looks like a meteor just crashed. Large fissures are open like gaping mouths all over the place, chunks of rock are scattered everywhere and all plant life had been completely engulfed by the raging earth.
Next Round:
- Lucas orders first.
