2 vs. 2
DQ Time: 5 days
Damage Cap: None
Banned moves: OHKOs, Chills 5/Pokemon, 1 direct healing/Pokemon, Perish Song
Arena: Southern Island
The home stage of the twin Eon Pokemon is the sunny Southern Island! At first glance, it appears to be a small, quiet island edged by beach all around, with a few palm trees and clouds in the sky. Though it's much more that it appears; if one could see aura or the energy in the air one would find that millions of sparks of energy hang in the air and water around the island. You can see why a Legend would want to live here.
The island itself is a small place, being about 15 feet square. The water about 7 feet out from the island is relatively shallow at 2 feet deep, and is salty. The pure energy in the air causes all Special moves to gain 2% damage and cost 1% less energy. The thing about the Southern Island is that destruction isn't very satisfying. After a few rounds, everything starts to rebuild or grow, and by the end of the third round, everything is as it was, including the weather. Moves that affect the weather's effects are shortened to just one round.
The island is actually floating, bringing its patch of shallow water around with it. Dig brings the user to a pool of fresh water about 3 feet down, and Earthquake will bring a massive tidal wave acting as a Surf to appear the next round and damage both sides.
And so arrived the third victim – ahem, customer of the Dragons’ Den Simulation. Griffin had to shove someone asking about the business as well as several others offering to help aside in his haste to acquire the precious simulation slot. The mechanical dragon behind the counter raised her eyebrows, but silently beckoned him to follow her. Griffin had to jog to keep up with her fast pace.
It was soon apparent that Griffin would become hopelessly lost without a guide – the building seemed to have been planned by a brain-dead Magikarp. The hallways branched off countless times and rooms were littered about in what seemed to be a very inefficient manner. At last, the owner approached a door with an eye-catching “CAUTION” sign on it, opening the door and ushering Griffin inside.
The room, though enormous, didn’t appear to be dangerous in the least. Griffin looked around curiously while the owner tottered off to a door in the far corner. Moments after she entered the mysterious room, beeps and clicks echoed through the main chamber. A robotic voice announced, “Simulation initializing… Southern Island” before a monstrous creaking noise began. The floor itself drew apart, revealing a pool of water. That was all Griffin saw before a blinding flash engulfed the room; when he dared to open his eyes again, beams of light had painted the mind-bogglingly realistic image of a floating island. Strangely enough, it wasn’t even an illusion in the truest sense of the word: when Griffin released his battlers, they landed safely on the grass. Sherile the Absol shook out her fur, while Moonbeam the Hoothoot nervously switched from foot to foot. Both Pokemon nervously stared at the air before them: there was a mass of flickering static, which moments later resolved into the draconic forms of Latias and Latios, the fabled Eon twins.

The playful glint left Latias’s eye as the battle began. Instead of wiggling her claws at her scared opponent, she traced them through the air, leaving a thin, sparkling line. She drew the rough outline of a dragon with a similar build to herself, then pressed both palms against it; there was a brief shimmer, and suddenly the outline sprang to life. It flapped its flimsy wings a few times, then levitated in front of its creator, ready to protect her from harm.
Meanwhile, Latios had established a mental connection with Sherile. The Absol growled as she felt a tingling sensation, but she couldn’t shake it off. Luckily for her, Latios could not find any surplus strength that could be shared. Disappointed, the blue dragon released his hold on Sherile’s mind and sat back, huffing.
Whereas the Eon twins played defensively, Sherile’s mind was on more violent matters. While dragons were formidable opponents, she knew just the thing to cool down their sizzling tempers. She opened her mouth wide to reveal a large orb of light-blue energy. With a mighty exhalation, a flurry of ice crystals flew from her mouth. At the same time, she summoned a strong gale that swept towards the dragons. Latias’s substitute flung itself in front of its creator. So powerful was the icy blast that it disintegrated immediately. Latias wailed at the loss of her structure, so soon after it had been created. Latios, acting quickly, had managed to duck out of the way. Sherile growled, unhappy that she had hit neither of her intended targets, though at least the substitute was out of the way.
Much like the legendaries, Moonbeam was working on subtle tactics as well. Daringly, he hopped up to Latias and did his best to give her a coy smile – not an easy feat with a beak.
Gosh, he said,
I knew legendaries were majestic and all, but you’re just another thing entirely! Can’t help but notice your sleek body… and what a gorgeous shade of red! Latias blinked at the sudden praise, then fluttered her eyelids and smiled.
Sorry about my teammate, Moonbeam continued.
She oughta open her eyes, really – how could anyone harm such a beautiful creature? I know I couldn’t, for sure.
By now, Latias was quite flattered. That Hoothoot was quite the smooth gentleman. Determined to show that she was not just beautiful, but strong as well, she breathed a cone of sparkly flames at the ground in front of him. At least, those were her intentions: her muzzle was aimed just a bit too high, and Moonbeam himself was engulfed in a draconic blaze. He let out a screech and hopped frantically about, flapping his stubby wings. It didn’t take long for the fire to die out, but the poor bird was left slightly singed.
Latios had watched Moonbeam woo his sister, and was none too pleased. Closing his eyes in concentration, he began to weave a mystical barrier around the two dragons. The air around them shimmered green as a Safeguard descended upon them. Unfortunately, it arrived too late to save Latias, who was craning her neck to inspect Moonbeam while apologizing profusely.
Sherile watched the exchange between her owl partner and the red dragon and gave a nasty cackle.
What a dumb sister you have, she snarled at Latios.
Didn’t teach her well, did you? My, my. The Absol backed away a step with a mocking expression as Latios growled threateningly.
Quite a temper you have. Shall I just cool you off with another Blizzard, hm? Sherile’s taunts were maddening, certainly, but the Safeguard worked mysterious effects on Latios’s mind, calming the usually-temperamental dragon. He sniffed derisively, refusing to give in.
Meanwhile, Moonbeam had finished checking himself over for any nasty burns. Satisfied that he had escaped lasting damage, the Hoothoot once again approached Latias, staring up at her with large, unblinking eyes. Latias stared back, entranced; even when Moonbeam’s eyes began to glow an eerie pink, she didn’t look away. Unfortunately for Moonbeam, his psychic signals were interrupted by the Safeguard, so Latias didn’t feel the least bit sleepy. Moonbeam broke the stare with a sniff of frustration.
Shrugging, Latias decided to show off her strength in a less forward manner. She extended her claws to their full length and rubbed them against each other in a series of swift, accurate movements. The sound of the grinding sent her blood pumping, and after a few moments she flexed her newly-sharpened instruments of doom, now even more pointed and precise.
Furious at Moonbeam for seducing his sister, Latios lunged forward with a roar. The Hoothoot cowered. Latios took a swipe at the owl, but without desperation driving the movement, it was so slow Moonbeam had little trouble dodging it. Another swipe yielded the same result. Now positively fuming, Latios settled with glaring daggers at his puny foe.
A quick glance at Latias showed that she was still very much awake. Sherile grumbled, but sat back and began to clear her mind. As she purged her brain of all distractions, she felt her mental barriers strengthen and her intellectual power increase. A feeling of calm stole over her. Meanwhile, Moonbeam was zipping back and forth, so fast that he was almost a blur. The streak of brown shattered into five pieces, and when the Hoothoot slowed down, he was accompanied by four identical owls.

Terrain notes
Nothing to note.
Final notes
Griffin attacks first next round.
I keep switching the g’s and f’s in Griffin’s name and end up with Friggin.
Since Latias and Latios have the same speed, I will roll a dice to determine who goes first for the entire round. This round, Latias went first.
Blizzard missed Latios.
Just a note, when an attack hits both targets in a double battle, I reduce its base power by a fourth. Effectively, Blizzard would have 90 base damage for the purposes of damage (not energy) calculation.
Safeguard protected the legendaries from Taunt and Hypnosis.
Please tell me if there are any errors – I made a ton of mistakes while reffing this. Forgetting about the sub, forgetting about safeguard, etc.
