Crazy Linoone vs. Wargle

Oh yay.

And all of a sudden, we're aback in the game again.

Let's play defensively this round and start using Captivate to get the aerodactyl back on your side. Iron Head if the aerodactyl cannot be hit by Captivate (either due to Subs, Protect, Detect, Flying up, or whatever); chase the aerodactyl up into the air if you must. If there are clones, sweep Flash Cannon.

Captivate/Iron Head ~ Captivate/Iron Head/Flash Cannon ~ Captivate/Iron Head/Flash Cannon

Your commands say nothing about taunt, so have fun repeating yourself. Taunt until it works, then Chill it out.

Taunt ~ Taunt/Chill X2

Taunt ~ Taunt/Chill X2

(either due to Subs, Protect, Detect, Flying up, or whatever);

I'm pretty sure this covers the Taunt...!

But I guess it would be up to the referee at this point (although the last time something similar happened and I got screwed over because my opponent's command did cover the thing I thought it didn't cover).

For the record, it doesn't cover Taunt -- you were listing things that would prevent Captivate from landing, not things that would prevent it from being used altogether.

Well, to be fair, Pokemon who are taunted generally default to their damaging command anyway - maybe after an action of silent fuming, but yeah.

If by "silent fuming" you mean "sloppy outrage". Since Taunted Pokémon tend not to do things very silently.

And if by "be fair" you mean "totally trying to bail the Pokémon that's named after me out of a bad situation".

Arena: Jar of Air (Cookie Flavor)
It's a jar. Filled with cookie-scented air.

Is there really anything else to say about it?

The jar itself is large -- about three wailords in diameter and three wailords high, or high enough to Fly -- and made of some sort of clear, see-through material. While the material looks like glass and feels like glass and, in all essence, is glass, it's somehow unbreakable. The top of the jar is closed with an air-tight metal lid, to keep all the air inside the jar inside and the air outside the jar, out.

(How the trainers will get out might cause some problems, but there's been weirder arenas in ASBer, so it shouldn't cause that much of a problem.)

The best part? The air inside smells like cookies. The aroma of delicious, sweet, freshly baked cookies, right out of the oven, fills the jar, making anyone who takes a whiff start salivating like there's no tomorrow.

A pokemon can spend one action to take a deep breath of the delicious, cookie-scented air, which will energize the pokemon, restoring 5% energy and giving it a +1 boost in a random stat.

Too bad there's no actual cookies though.
Arena status: The bottom of the bottle is mildly damp.

Shortly after it became apparent that the actual Blazhy was watching the battle, the sixth round began.

The other one began trying to make up for her foe's perfect waste of time last round, . All she got in return was being called an enormous bitch who's too obssessed with maple syrup to do anything right.

That settled it. This guy was going to bleed maple syrup.

She began her assault with a series of badly coordinated, messy ninjatoe slashes. The lack of grace in the movements didn't prevent her from landing a blow altogether, but Xero had an easy time brushing her off and, perhaps to further irritate her, proceed to just sit tight and gather energies.

It was time to, quite literally, use her brain. Not that she had an organic brain that would justify this pun, but regardless, she took distance, then pummeled from above with a forceful headbutt. The affordable metal still thicker than a natural Aerodactyl's thin hide, she managed to shake her foe right out of his rest, leaving him off-balance enough that he nearly didn't manage to remain airborne.

Oh well, the aerodactyl Flinched on the last round so it's all good. And oh hey look our Substitute is still here. Which is also totally boss, because it's going to save us some energy.

-----

As the match progressed, the defensive, wary commands steadily gave way to more offensive, riskier tactics. That, of course, didn't necessarily mean it was about to turn into a real fight anytime soon.

Blazhy could hardly refrain from unleashing one more slashing rampage. The only thing keeping her in accordance with her commands was the prospect that, by the end of the long wait, there would be massive damage. Sitting tight and waiting for it helped her calm down a little; the anger didn't go away, but the reckless impulses did.

Meanwhile, Xero, still a little disorientated from the Iron Head previously, could do little as his mind wandered a little, then settled for a long trip to pizzaland. He spent most of the round just breezing and drooling.

At one point, he did manage to knock it off briefly and try to perform his commands. Briefly scanning the jar quickly showed that, much as Wargle suspected, a full-fledged Rock Slide would be completely silly. Maybe if there were some cookies left. Regardless, there was still hope for a something else Slide. Maybe the lid again. Constantly ripping off bits of it would enevtually end up letting the smell escape, but, it was a necessary evil. One way or the other, so as long as nobody actually went all the way through the thing, it'd be all safe.

If the falling chunks of metal ever struck the mechanical Aerodactyl, they'd have fared quite poorly against the still rather well-preserved external coating. However, what they struck was what little was left of the Substitute, which was made of the very same material, except battered badly. It was a no-contest; the decoy was shattered to tiny bits as the last of its life force depleted.

Its master went impervious the whole round, however, as stated beforehand. And that defeated the whole purpose of waiting for the opponent to land an attack.

Oh well, that works, too.

Anyhow, now that you're not taunted anymore, make yourself another Substitute (15% sounds about good), send a Thunderwave at the aerodactyl, and finish off with another Captivate for good measures. Get the aerodactyl back on your side, you know, so you can plummet him easier when the time comes to it.

If you get Taunted and therefore can't use Thunderwave and Captivate, Iron Head that aerodactyl to little pieces if you can hit it. If you can't hit it (due to Protect/Detect, being out of reach, being Tormented, or whatever), Chill, but Substitutes should be killed on the spot.

If Thunderwave or Captivate won't be able to affect your opponent for whatever other reason (including, but is not limited to, your target being out of reach, Substitutes, Protect/Detect, and you being unable to use it for some reason), Chill.

-----

The battle was still not exactly intending to become more like an actual battle soon, with indirect artillery still being a main component of the commands. Oh well.

At the beggining of the round, both Pokémon flew up towards the metallic lid, but Xero's muscles began cramping along the way. With a quip about pumps being so much better, Blazhy forced out a chunk of the lid, infusing it with life force. While sculpting it to perfection, she quickly let out another pulse of electricity from her wires, reestablishing the chaos in her opponent's muscles.

As he once more struggled to fly, the natural Aerodactyl proceeded to make full use of the muscles he could still move properly: the jaws. And throat. Even those two required a little extra effort, but he could still talk properly. Of course, his plan was to speak things that were less than proper... Not in a phonological sense, but in a sense of etiquette. Unless you consider it polite to mention your foe's cowardly, wimpy lack of real fighting.

The artificial dragon was, of course, eager to bring that real fighting in. Finding little defense as the magic of cramps worked wonders on the hostile, she dealt out one more round of solid headbutt. She was just done sculpting the Substitute, and it took flight alongside her once she was done plowing the enemy straight downards.

Iron Head first, of course, because if the RNGods are willing, the aerodactyl will flinch and make life easier for the rest of us.

After that, Iron Head again and slam the aerodactyl into the ground, then sit on top of it and don't get off. This should shield you (or at least your Substitute) from much of the Heat Wave damage, since it's kinda hard to aim at somebody who's sitting on your back.

Finish off with a Captivate to bring the aerodactyl back on your side, if it's still attracted to you. Use your feminine wiles, or just promise it some more pizza if it could cooperate.

With the beggining of the ninth round, Blazhy kicked off immediately with another swift header from the skies. Overwhelmed by the sudden start but already beggining to get used to the attacks, Xero simply laid idle for a spell, gathering his thoughts and taking a breather.

By the time a second violent headbutt was incoming, he was ready for it. With just right timing, he set up a force barrier around himself. He could hardly tell whether the most satisfying sound was the loud whomp, or the frustrated mecha-grunts.

As he lowered his guard, he was suddenly enticed by a series of soft whispers that sung of the scent of the mozzarella topping, the tomatoes, and, of course, the crusty edges. The thought didn't outright stop him from unleashing his next attack, but he was very distracted once he got to it.

That attack was an already seen before Heat Wave, easily melting most of the metallic Substitute away with the visible heat. As with before, the mechanical Aerodactyl wasn't happy about it in the slightest, but had to make a little effor to keep the natural Aerodactyl roped in.

...May I know how Zero's energy went from 61% to 80%? That's a 19% energy gain; if you factor in Protect (6% energy loss) and Heat Wave (2%, according to Kratos's calculator), that means Chill restored 27% energy. 27% is kind of a weird number....

In retrospect, I seem to have completely mucked up the entirety of the energy calculations.

Will recalculate and update.

EDIT: Done.

Also, since Iron Head is super-effective against Rock and Flying types, it should perhaps deal more than 10% damage?

Maybe your scale is different or something, but 10% seems kinda low.... Kratos's scale and Negrek's old Energy and Damage guide both say 16%.
