Ding went the elevator as the Omskivar reached the basement where Byrus and ole_schooler were playing a guessing game about what was in the boxes. Zhorken had apparently rushed to the bathroom and never returned, and there wasn't much else to do to pass the time; Byrus pondered for a moment, then guessed that there were GameBoys in ole_schooler's box; ole_schooler peeked inside and scoffed, miffed that Byrus had guessed so fast, then shot his own guess at Byrus. Byrus looked into his box and replied no, there was no garden hose in there, just like there was no garden hose in the last one, or the one before that. Ole_schooler sighed and gave up, asking what was in the box; Byrus smirked and threw one of the items at ole_schooler's head.
After a half-hour or so, Omski and Byrus managed to remove ole_schooler from the Premier Ball, and the battle finally began. Byrus and ole_schooler selected their Pokeballs carefully, then tossed them into the ring (which was an entirely coincidental and very convenient circle in the middle room). On ole_schooler's side of the arena, a gruff-looking Herdier appeared alongside an Absol, who began to stare at Byrus harshly; the other Trainer paid this no heed and began uttering commands to his own Pokemon, a stoic, revered-looking Houndoom and a tiny frivolous Mime Jr. Jekyll the Absol transfixed his intense glare to the both of them.
Ace turned to face Jekyll right off the bat, cheering her partner on and even managing a shaggy backflip; Jekyll took this as best to heart as an Absol can, then immersed his paw in an aura of malice. He scanned his opponents, suddenly unable to find the Mime Jr. until
thwack! Gamzee giggled to himself, spinning away on one foot as quickly as he had come, after landing a sharp rap on the back of Jekyll's head that disrupted the Absol's thought and caused the aura to flicker and sputter out. Jekyll growled with spite as Yami stepped forward slowly.
Stupid mutt, she said, sneering at Ace.
Just as much a figurative bitch as you are a literal one. Always trying to take others' credit for their own hard work; what's the matter, are you above using a regular attack? Bah. You're not worth my time. Ace's face reddened as a sharp, stabbing anger took root within her mind, and she could think of nothing but murdering that foul-mouthed she-devil before her.
Shaking his head, Jekyll roared and charged forward, clamping his jaws around Gamzee's midsection. Gamzee squealed in pain, but managed to produce a weak jolt of electricity from the orb on his head; he swung the bulb to hit Jekyll on the nose, sending the small shockwave traveling through his body. Jekyll did not howl in pain; he dropped the Mime Jr. in surprise, but did not utter a sound, other than a low growl as he subtly tested the mobility, or lack thereof, of his limbs. He glared at Gamzee, who clapped happily.
Yami bided her time, awaiting Ace's move. The Herdier charged at her, barking loudly; she never made contact, as she was blasted directly in the face with a casual burst of flames. The force of the Flamethrower sent Ace backwards just enough to land her sprawled out on the floor, whimpering and looking down at her chest, which sported a rather ugly scorch mark. Growling amidst the whimpers, Ace got back on her feet and charged Yami again, this time making contact; though the Herdier put her full effort into the attack, it did little more than knock a small
whuf of breath from Yami, not moving her from her spot at all. Ace growled, stood up and charged Yami again, but suddenly found herself lifted off of the ground, floating towards the ceiling as Gamzee manipulated the air around her. Yami considered the floating Ace for a moment, then cocked her head and let loose another blast of flames, at which Jekyll actually yelped, writhing in her bubble of floating air, emerging from the inferno with her burned chest smoldering visibly. Gamzee smiled, admiring his handiwork, until Jekyll grabbed him around the waist in his lethal jaws and began running to the room on the left; as they were almost there, a tiny jolt of electricity danced across Jekyll's body, causing him to stop and drop Gamzee. Finding himself unable to move, the Absol simply glared and bared his teeth down at the wincing Mime Jr. The Omskivar waved his flag and signalled the end of the round.
Two Machoke stomped down the stairs, discussing something amongst themselves; they took no notice of the battlers, instead shuffling boxes around nonchalantly and then leaving. The room to the south was now entirely blocked off.

Notes:
-the bottom room is closed off by boxes.
-no critical hits.
-Absol couldn't move enough to drag Gamzee into another room.
-Flamethrower burned moderately.
-Inferno intensified the burn to severe.
-The severity of the paralysis was weakened by Mime Jr.'s lack of concentration.
-Helping Hand had priority over Fake out, which had priority over Sucker Punch.
-Houndoom moved last on the first action because of priority, and on the other two actions because she had conditionals based on her opponents' actions.
Next round:
-Byrus orders first.
