Arena: Celestic Town
Celestic Town is a rather tiny place, but it's legend is well-known. There are some who say it's the town where Sinnoh came to be created, and the crater-like pit in the middle of town, centered by a shrine which was there before any human can remember, certainly doesn't hurt the legend. There's also a tiny cave, with strange carvings on the wall, but they don't seem to be of any interest to... anyone.
The battle takes place morning-time during the spring; lush grass and lovely bright ponds are spread about Celestic, enough for any pokemon to do whatever they might want.
The morning after a certain disaster in Hearthome City, anyone stalking a certain referee or one of the trainers directly involved in said disaster would have to conclude that neither of them are good people. When all three accomplices flew off to contact ASB Central, it looked like it was the end of it, and they would never show their faces in Sinnoh again.
Apparently not. After an evolution and a submission of a report to Asber’s head referee, the two flew off to meet another contact in a small town directly north of Hearthome City, apparently having planned—before the previous disaster even came to a close—to do it all again.
The people of Celestic Town, unfortunately, have no televisions. If they had, perhaps they would be a little more suspicious of the trainer lurking by the shrine since midnight. They would probably be nervous about the exchange of solemn nods as the two newcomers land. And they’d definitely start panicking when they hear the referee refresh them on the list of rules.
Cognizant of the lack of terror they’re causing, the referee decides to drop all pretences of subtlety.
“And let’s see something cool this time,” the referee says. It yawns and leans against the sacred shrine at the centre of the town. “Get the cave, at least… the cave’s the only thing here… wait, that’s Cynthia’s family’s house, right? Destroy that, too.”
That’s when the village elder focuses all of her attention on them.
“Uh… they’re in the same direction. The cave’s under the manor. So, you know, if any legendary moves happen… no, send them out first, the pokémon have to hear this.”
Pathos throws a poké ball dramatically, calling forth on the pokémon’s power. The ball seems to explode upon hitting the ground, and the brilliant white light and angelic fanfare etch themselves into the minds and hearts of all observers. In the midst of it all, drawing everyone’s attention even before the light fades, is a small egg-shaped pokémon who seems to be wearing a crown beset with a pink jewel. Much dimmer flashes on either side of the togepi reveal an abra and drowzee, the former covered in some sort of shiny metallic paint.
Windragon cackles and sends out three familiar pokémon – well, they’re familiar to the referee, and would be familiar to anyone present a few hours ago in Hearthome. They’re much healthier now, though, and one has even evolved as a result of all that destruction; a togetic, meditite, and sableye appear. They all wear similar expressions, variations on eager grins and confidence in themselves, though the sableye grins the widest.
“Right,” the referee says. It points in the direction of the cave. “Your goal is to destroy that. And each other, a little bit, but you can use regular moves for that. But if you feel god-like power coming over you, aim it in that direction. That’s why we’re here.”
Windragon eagerly names the moves he wants to see this time around, showing a bias toward flashy, powerful moves even over widespread destruction—though perhaps that could be forgiven for the first round in a place where there isn’t much of value to destroy. Ashglade and Nanasa accept their orders with determined nods, while Expostion’s only response is to grin even wider.
Pathos gives Castiel a solemn nod and affirms the pokémon’s orders to destroy everything, but he does so more calmly. Allitersonance and Beyonce exchange blank looks (at least, as much as they can with one party never opening its eyes). Whatever they might be saying to each other, no one else can hear, but they don’t seem pleased to be ignored.
Now the village elder is starting to get slightly more desperate than that time a spaceman wanted to blow up the cave. Meaning she’s looking around for eleven year old trainers to help her rather than waiting for them to come to her. Destruction
and blasphemy? The nerve of it all… If only she were younger, she’d punish those trainers with her pokémon…

Round One
Allitersonance waggles its fingers in the pattern that will set the tone for this battle. Its fingers move in accordance with the
tick-tock-tick-tock that only it can hear in its head, subtly different from nearly all the other metronomes it will ever perform, and as it does so, energy leaks out of the worn holes in the fabric of reality, spilling into its fingers. Its fingers glow.
The most spectacular thing that happens, though, is Allitersonance standing and going through quick warm-up exercises while reciting positive messages in its head, and while that is pretty amazing, it’s not really what anyone hopes for. Still, it feels much better after loosening its muscles and reminding itself of its awesomeness. Nanasa, though, is unimpressed, and loudly mocks it. It thinks it’s so amazing because it can do a few stretches? Nanasa’s an actual
fighting-type, and her warm-up for this battle was an actual battle, not any of this wimpy stretching after the battle’s already started stuff. Allitersonance growls and lunges at her, but Nanasa’s leg, glowing black, merely sweeps out the abra’s legs from underneath it and sends it crashing to the ground.
Cackling, Exposition joins in on the fun and breathes out in the abra’s direction. Nanasa backs away, certain it can’t be anything good for anyone targeted, but Allitersonance is more focused on grumbling and getting back to its feet while ignoring the pain. It notices the slight breeze brushing its fur, but it doesn’t notice the slight sparkling in the air, nor does it notice the dust being drawn into its lungs when it breathes. It simply lets its muscles relax and collapses on the dewy grass once more.
Beyonce calls out to Nanasa and mocks her for using such cheap tactics—Nanasa’s a psychic, and a fighting-type besides, but she has to rely on her opponent’s physical strength to hurt it? An
abra’s physical strength, to boot? How pathetic! Nanasa growls and she, too, lunges, apparently not noticing the glee in Beyonce’s eyes just before Beyonce covers her fist with darkness and slams it into Nanasa’s chest, letting the force of Nanasa’s own attack do most of the work. The breath comes out of Nanasa’s lungs with a
whuff, and when she collapses, she stares up at Beyonce with wide eyes.
Ashglade ignores this, though, and instead bounds off to hop on the let’s-beat-on-Allitersonance bandwagon. Exposition obligingly moves out of the way, and Ashglade dips his head in and gives Allitersonance’s ear a small nip. He sucks in some of the blood, to Exposition’s amusement, but it doesn’t seem that harmful. Exposition hops and cackles until white smoke envelops her and drives her into a coughing fit. Castiel gives his trainer a solemn nod, pleased with having smitten such evil, or at least irritating it. And he can do it again, if called to do so, because his metronome is unlike the metronome of anyone else.
Nanasa briefly contemplates whether she should use fire or lightning against her opponents, then shakes her head. She'd rather the blue brilliance of lightning, she thinks, and waggles her fingers. Instead, though, she finds herself flapping her arms like wings and whips up the air into a whirlwind. Those with sharper eyes would notice slight scratches appearing in the wood of the shrine and some tips of the grass being cut off and ripped away by the wind, but it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere fast. Exposition shakes off her coughs and raises a hand, the glow of her finger extending to a bell that hangs as though being held. She taps it with her other finger, producing a sweet chime that immediately calms her coughing, but not much else. Nanasa and Ashglade give small smiles at the sound. Beyonce ends her metronome with her eyes closed, willing her body to heal before she realises that she has yet to be harmed. It’s normally a good thing, but here, it seems like a waste, and she drops her arms with a frown.
Ashglade glances at his prevolution. The abra’s blood was tasty, but he’s looking for something more, and, well, what could be more pure than someone’s very life force? Castiel twitches when he finds part of his soul being drawn out of his body as a green aura, and shoots Ashglade an annoyed look as he sees tendrils being drawn toward the togetic. But his irritation quickly turns to alarm when he sees that pieces of the aura rip off and sink into Ashglade’s body, making him feel like he’s being ripped apart inside each time. By the time he can bring his soul back into his body, he’s left in a cold sweat, and he can only calm himself by calling on the ever-steady
tick-tock of the metronome. He, too, summons up a harsh whirlwind, but not before Nanasa sneers and pushes her own whirlwind at Beyonce. Dust and grass go flying, and Beyonce, though she manages to brace herself on the ground, can’t stop deep cuts from appearing in her flesh. Castiel grunts and, mind made up, pushes his whirlwind in Nanasa’s direction; though it doesn’t cut her, it does make her shriek when it lifts her into the air and spins her about. It’s not quite strong enough to carry her, and she drops to the ground with as much grace as she can, and the whirlwind breaks itself harmlessly against the sacred cave.
As Allitersonance slumbers on, Nanasa puckers her lips, which, alarmingly, come out to a point and harden. She runs toward Beyonce and stabs Beyonce’s thick skin, only to be shrugged off; still, her mouth returns to normal afterward, which is enough to draw relief. The gems on Exposition’s backside glitter, and a short purple tail, nothing but a small blade, grows from the base of her spine. She lunges at Castiel and spins at the last second, slashing through his fragile shell. He squeals, but neither of them notice that the mysterious blade – now already gone – had been dripping purple, nor do they notice the poison in his wound.
Beyonce’s call upon the chaotic energies underlying the world brings a slight smile to her face, as well as a boost of confidence. She turns up the charm and sidles up to Ashglade, who just gives her an irritated look. But she smiles softly and tries to adjust her body language to appeal. But, when Ashglade’s expression becomes nothing but disgust and horror, she can’t say she’s entirely surprised. He’s an enemy, so anything that makes him scoot away from her should be a good thing. Still, she’d hoped he was better than that.
Ashglade shakes his head and paws in an attempt to forget, but a shudder still wracks his body. He turns instead upon Castiel, a pokémon he’s far more interested in. Eating Castiel’s soul was much more fulfilling than he expected, and he’d quite like to see why. His eyes glow, and he stares, piercing the illusion that Castiel is a mere togepi, or indeed, even a mere mortal trapped in such a shell… the eye-burning brilliance of Castiel’s true self burns into Ashglade’s mind. Or at least, that’s what Castiel tells himself. In truth, Ashglade doesn’t really see anything so wonderful, and must conclude that his attack was simply especially effective.
Preening, Castiel thinks that now would be a wonderful time to show everyone his true brilliance. He glows a brilliant gold and, when he spreads his arms, golden wings sprout from his back. He leaps into the air and rises higher and higher, shining ever brighter. The four other conscious pokémon stare in awe, and there is nothing they can do when he abruptly changes direction. Nanasa, even with the calm stoicism gained from years of meditation, can’t help but wheeze when the shining strike bears her to the ground, and while the togepi manages to roll off her with an exhilarated grin, she can only let out a small moan.

Battlefield:
- Barely scratched.
Notes:
- Nanasa wasn’t sure what to use on the second action, as there were no details to the if-clauses, so it was randomised. She picked metronome.
- Ashglade’s giga drain was a critical hit.
- Exposition’s poison tail poisoned Castiel.
- Beyonce’s attract failed.
- I didn’t use the One True Generator for this round, hence the patheticness of the moves. Fear not, for said metronome generator has returned since. The future is bright!
