RP Thread

Stories spread from person to person, all in hopes of keeping them alive for years to come. As time has passed, the stories start to fade as the minds start to weaken. Children grow, never knowing of the great stories and legends of old from their parents and elders. This however isn’t the case in a small pirate town near the open shore. Though times has changed on this peaceful shore, new devices have been invented to busy the minds of people alike, the old stories of pirates and adventure still run strong in this seafaring town.

The most told stories are told of two ships, tied together by friendship and rivalry as they pursued treasure beyond the horizon in a friendly race to loot. Tales of their adventures are passed down from generation to generation, one of the stories detailing one of their grand races in search of the legendary “Kirin’s Treasure” at the end of the world. After the ships raced to the location of the treasure, they returned with nothing more than a smile and knowing looks in their eyes. When they were asked what the treasure looked like, they would answer “beautiful and precious beyond belief. To take a treasure like that would be impossible for one man’. They would not answer what the treasure was, but the captains would look to one another and smile over their mugs. After they pulled anchor from the small port, no word was sent of what adventures they embarked. Many believed they died at sea, others say they went back to the end of the world to search for more treasure. No one knows the fate of those ships that disappeared more than a century ago.

Until two mysterious ships docked at the small pier on the night of their disappearance. Two figures emerged from the ships, the captains of each boat meeting one another on the wharf. Though the children and adults find them as strangers on their shores, the elders of the town grow lively by their appearance. The children and adults dismiss the idea that the two captains were the ones from the stories, the elders only voiced that there could be no others than the ageless captains of the legendary ships tied on their dock.

The two captains however stayed close to their ships, scanning the unfamiliar town before them with unease. The town had changed since the last they stopped by, making them feel the weight of their curse more than ever. They look at one another sadly, seeing the hub they once loved change with time while they sailed into the great unknown. They knew the price for their curse when they stole the orbs of the two dragon gods, taking it onto themselves with no care at first. Now they see the price clearer than before. They have watched other towns turn into cities, the fall and rises of kingdoms, and the changes of the east to the west. They have watched the end of their era when pirate after pirate fell to the hands of the navy and hung from the gallows. They hear the whispers of their ships being called ‘myths’ and referred to as ‘ghost ships’ by the locals of towns they pass through when acquiring food.

They knew they were not meant to be part of this new world, but they had no choice now. They have learned of another treasure, one that came to their attention when passing through a city on their way. They spoke of an orb that could create a tear in the world and transport the user to another dimension. They called the orb the ‘Relic of the Hidden God’, the final member of the circle of Gods that ruled over this world. The orb was the third in the set they once thought was only two, and was said to be owned by the mirror of the Kirin. The story may have perked their interest, but that would have only gone that far if they had never heard the next rumour.

The old Navy Ship ‘Passages' Truth’ had set out on a quest to obtain the item for a wealthy young woman, whom has been known to take power from those around her and use it to crush anyone that questions her. Obtaining the ship from the Navy was easy enough for her, due to the will left by the famous Navy captain known only as ‘Father’ that once commanded the ship. Within the will, it was stated that the old ship would fall into the ownership of the Tsuda family. After learning of the orb with the power to travel to other dimensions, the woman hired a crew and sent them off to find it for her.

Hearing that the ship that once chased them across the many seas was sent out to find the orb, the two captains felt pressured to finding and keeping the orb from the greedy woman of the Tsuda house. Having run into the old masters of that name in the past, having their Navy captain companion chase them in hopes of capturing the God’s treasures from them to further his and the Tsudas plans of taking control over the world, the two knew the danger that could only come if the crew of ‘Passages' Truth’ found the relic before they had.

So they travelled back to the old pirate hub they claimed as their meeting place eons ago, hearts heavy with the changes they see before them. The town stayed small, they still had the old buildings they remember, but the energy of it has changed from their time away from it. With the ‘Golden Pirate Age’ over, they feared the people capable of doing crew work would see them as jesters for dressing like pirates in this day and age. But they couldn’t turn back now, they knew what they needed from this town.

They needed a crew to fill the ship, and they needed one quick. With saddened looks, they travel to the nearest pub, slightly relieved to find that the name had not changed since they last left it. Taking a table, they lower their voices and discuss what must be done. After some time, one of the captains lean forward and placed a hand over the others, a light of sadness in their eyes.

“Edward…I know this may not be what you want to hear, but we need to combine the ship’s power into one. If we are to find the Relic, we need the power of both gods in one ship once more. The good Lady Equivalence is a fine ship, but with what we are getting into, it could leave her worn for wear. I think we should take my ship for this journey…it was once a fighting Navy ship in its youth, and it may help us in the end.” the captain whispered. Edward only sighed and patted his friend’s hand, looking off to the side. “She is a good strong ship, the good lady. She is fast, tough and seasoned from the adventures we’ve had. She was the first ship you and I were on, Ming. She was the one that taught you how to be a pirate, watched you grow and saw you on your way to be a pirate yourself. With all that history, you ask me to have her lie in wait while we use your ship to quest with?”

Ming squeezes his hand and bent her head, trying to catch his eye. “Kate can’t do this mission with us. The last time we tangled with that family, we nearly lost her…I can’t have us lose another to the hands of that ship and the Tsuda family…”she trailed off, voice ending in a whisper. Edward glanced back at her, taking her hand and giving it a tight squeeze. “I see…that’s why you really left.” he whispered, lifting his other hand to stroke the back of it against her cheek. “You want to use your ship because you can’t stay on mine without being reminded of how we lost your husband.” he sighed sadly, secretly knowing that it was the cause for her departure of the Lady Equivalence. Ming closed her eyes and leaned into the touch, a tear rolling down her cheek. “That ship holds its own curse…it slices through our enchantments and renders the orbs powerless. It is a scary power and it will only get worse if they obtain the relic. With that…they could try to take over another world all together. We can’t let them do this, not even if I die stopping them.” she finished with a growl.

Edward nodded his head, knowing how determined the young lass could be at times. “If you are willing to die, than so am I” he smiled, only to blink confusedly when Ming shook her head. “No Edward…you need to be with Kate. I’ll be needing the orb from your ship…and with that gone, time may start again for her. You need to be there for the birth of your first child. Let me fight this fight…I’ll return alive and well, giving the orb back to you so we can all live ageless again with your new charge.” she laughed softly. Edward draws back from her, a stern look in his eyes. He knew he could argue with her about this, for days if he must. But he also knew the look in her eye when she would not move from her decision.

He knew she wanted this fight to avenge her fallen lover.

Weary from travel, he pats her hand reassuringly and framed her face in his hands. “Fine, you win this round. But you must promise me this one thing. If I ever send you word that I will be joining you, you must return to this place and allow me onto your ship with whomever I bring with me. don’t ask when I will call, I’ll know when to send word when the time comes” . Ming chuckles, resting her head on the table and tapping her nail on the top. “Fine, you have my word. I’ll return for you when you call. I’m sure you know a way to contact me no matter how far I venture.” she questioned, only to roll her eyes when the man smirked down at her. “I’ll know how to contact you. All you need to do is tell your mast to return to these shores to fetch me.”

After that night, the two captains leave the pub to return to their ships to prepare. They left only one thing back in the pub that night. A note dictating that the ship ‘St. Virtue’ will be needing a crew for a quest. They will need strapping young men and intelligent woman to join, ready for a battle and skilled in some art of battle. They will not be taking children on this dangerous mission, only those that have confidence in their weapon arm and skills to aid them in battle need to apply for this.

Are you brave enough to join the crew of a ‘Ghost ship’ in search for a fabled relic?

--------

Avast! Welcome to RLG and the fair crew of the St.Virtue! You will face challenges set out ahead of you, fighting things only seen in myths and try to capture the Relic before Passages' Truth gets to it. Fair warning to ye, this will not be a easy trip. We may lose many in this venture and fools will find themselves suited for Sharpedo bait. But if you follow the Captain's orders, you may survive yet!

Rules:
- Mary-sues and God-mods are thrown overboard
- No you are not the descendent of the ageless pirates
- You may have one pokemon. If its heavy as a cubic fuck ton it better know how to swim...and no, you can't have a whale. Think logically here alright?
- If you don't give a reason why you aren't posting to me (via pm or otherwise) you will be fed to Sharpedos or die some other way that amuses me.
- Grammar is a good thing. I can't spell to well myself, but at least I try.
- No one liners if possible. But please don't drown us in a wall of text either. Find a nice medium and we'll all be happy
- You are a pirate. There is blood, cursing and the like. Kinda goes with the gig.
- There will be some people playing ship pokemon. These people were invited to do so by me. Don't cry if you aren't one of them and just play your Pirate, ok?
- Lets try to have fun. Yes, its a rule. Also, lets try not to kill this game, I've seen far to many die on this site.

Re: Relic of the Lost God [Sign-up/OOC] Open

DOIN' IT :D Almost exactly like last time, too.

Form:

Name: Xhan Northcut (Because he never gets old for me)
Gender: Male
Age: 19

Appearance: Xhan's a relatively tall person, with dark hair and fair skin. He has deep blue eyes, wears a pair of goggles on his head, and somehow seems to always have dirt somewhere on his face. He wears a black scarf around his neck, a simple blue jacket (usually with the sleeves rolled up), and black fingerless gloves. He also has a plain black shirt under his jacket, and black pants with heavy-duty boots. A series of belts, satchels, and small packs strapped to him hold most of his necessities.

Personality: Though his body has matured, Xhan is still very much a kid at heart. He's the type who gets into scrapes through his impulsive behaviors, and usually doesn't get out until he's started some other situation. Though he often will have over-the-top panic attacks, he rarely loses his cool, something he attributes to his rowdy lifestyle. His pranks and games never are in poor intentions, and he never does any more harm than a few bruises. Much of his time has been dedicated to loud things, and so he has become something of a self-taught Gunner (He's no master, though, and is usually more suited to the menial tasks).

Why did you join the Pirates: Xhan is never one to back down from a chance to go new places. And living every little kid's dream of being a pirate doesn't hurt, either.

Other: Picture soon. Also, hell yes, Xhan is my favorite to play as.

Re: Relic of the Lost God [Sign-up/OOC] Open

Name: Fritz Almsteadt
Gender: Male
Age: 55

Appearance: Fritz is a tall, slender man, with slicked back dark hair, pale skin, and milk chocolate brown eyes, though his hair is streaked with grey and white from age. He stands at an impressive six-foot-six, and has long limbs and a narrow, pointed face. He bears a long scar over his left eye. One thing noticeable about him, is the fact that his left leg, from just below the knee down, is missing. He instead has a strange metal-and-wood false leg, with a slightly bouncy metal piece serving as his foot, and the whole thing attached with leather straps.

He typically wears long black trousers, a heavy black polished boot that comes to mid-calf on his good leg, and a crisp white dress shirt with long sleeves. He wears a pair of black straps over the shirt, just under the shoulder, to keep the shirt in place, and black suspenders over a black leather waistcoat. He wears a red tie, and occasionally a heavy overcoat with many brass accents. He carries a brass pocketwatch on a chain, clipped to his waistcoat. He carries a mahogany and Skarmory-steel walking stick, the handle carved in the shape of a Dragonair's head. The cane conceals a long, razor-sharp Skarmory steel blade.

Personality: Fritz has a commanding presence, and speaks firmly and with a stern inflection to his voice like he demands respect from anyone he speaks to (which he does). He is sharply intelligent, though a tad on the...cracked side of things. He Loves to experiment, but he understands that his crew are what keep him alive on this ship, and refrains from experimenting upon them, opting instead for any captured prisoners, and various vermin. He is very skilled at medicine, if a bit...different in his solutions of problems.

Why did you join the Pirates: For SCIENCE!! okay to be a doctor, really. So technically i guess he did join for SCIENCE.

Other: Pokemon:

[Thera] Galvantula (Female)

Re: Relic of the Lost God [Sign-up/OOC] Open

What's that? Pirates? I must be a part of it.

Name: Lydia Harrington

Gender: Chicky

Age: 22

Appearance: She keeps her long, deep-red hair in a ponytail that reaches her waist with a bright yellow ribbon. She has multiple piercings on each ear, and the number of rings will vary from day to day, and violet eyes. She wears a sleeveless white shirt and dark, simple pants, and has a coat and light gloves for cold days.

Personality: She's a stubborn and fiery young woman with little concern for consequences. Her temper has always had ways of getting her into trouble with any sort of authority, and when she does do what she's told, it usually includes a word or two muttered grudgingly under her breath. Despite her temper, she will get upset at pointless violence by anyone, even herself. So while she has no issues with shouting matches, she'll hold off any fights she can until someone gives one legitimate reason.

Why did you join the Pirates: Money. All about the coin, and more importantly, profit.

Other: She's got a Pokemon:

Talia, the female Sentret
Ability: Keen Eye

Hope I did this right...

Re: Relic of the Lost God [Sign-up/OOC] Open

Form:

Name: Katrina Quartis
Gender: Female
Age: 19

Appearance:
Katrina stands at an average 5'7 and weighs about 150 pounds. She has sleek, messy black hair that falls loosely on her shoulders, reaching the end of her back. Katrina has fair, almost tan skin and a curvy build, and her doll-like face makes her seem younger than she is. Her deep navy blue eyes are almost the color of her hair.

Katrina's usual attire consists of black skinny jeans, a violet crew-neck shirt with black swirls all over it, a dark blue jacket with a cape-like bottom that flares out from her body (Anyone remember what Yami Yugi's jacket looks like?) and a white bow tied on the back (the ends of the bow usually hang a foot off the ground), and black knee-high boots that cover up the rest of her jeans further down her leg. A strange, black tear line comes from the bottom of her left eye, which Katrina has no explanation for its origin. She wears three golden hoop earrings on her right ear, all of which are located on her ear lobe. Katrina also sports a rather large heart necklace that goes down to her stomach. If opened, it will reveal a blood red jewel, though Katrina hardly opens the locket.

Personality:
Katrina is a vague person. She is very aloof and uncaring, cold and melancholy. Her outlook on life and other people is very bleak, and her expression is usually always unreadable. She tends to bottle up her true emotions and instead puts on an expressionless front for every occasion. She is polite and rarely flustered or angered, though she is threatening in a silent way by the chilling stare she can give. Katrina is not a particularly violent person, though she will go to any measures to get what she wants. Her confidence in herself is very high and prideful, and she expects no less than a successful win every time.

Why did you join the Pirates:
Solely for the purpose of going. Katrina has no secret plan or anything other than just being apart of it.

Other:
Katrina's Pokemon:

Ryuu, the male Dragonair [Shed Skin]

Re: Relic of the Lost God [Sign-up/OOC] Open

Let's try this.

Name: Taras Isberg
Gender: Male
Age: 61

Appearance:
Taras is massive, to say the least. He stands over two metres tall and almost half of that as far as width is concerned. He is, to put it bluntly, obese. At the same time he is also extremely muscular, giving him a stout figure despite his length. He has arms like tree trunks and similarly thick fingers, giving the impression he could crush a skull in his hand, though thankfully he wouldn't really do that considering his benevolent behaviour.

Despite his impressive (overlooking the large amounts of extra body mass) physique, Taras' age is starting to show. He is balding, his hair is grey bordering on white and his skin looks significantly worn. Yet his condition seem to only enforce his seemingly permanent smile and the spark in his gray eyes. He has a scar starting at his left cheekbone, going down his face diagonally reaching his chin.

Taras wears an old white longcoat with golden buttons, buttoned at the neck so it can hang around his shoulders like a cloak. Underneath this he wears a simple blue shirt and black pants and lastly a simple peaked cap, coloured and decorated similarly to his longcoat.

Personality:
Taras is, to say it in the most simple way possible, jolly. He barely ever drops in his big smile, even in the face of danger. His contagious cheerfulness, when combined with his humble demeanour and willingness to listen to others gives Taras a bit of a fatherly air to him. He's not for too humble to partake in a good ol' fight every now and then, though.

On the other hand, hell have no fury like Taras'. While he is indeed hard to anger, an angry Taras is a 300 pound ball of muscles and unstoppable rage. Taras also has a hard time regaining his trust in someone who once broke it.

Why did you join the Pirates:
When he was a young man, Taras set sail in search for adventure. While he do like the quiet life he has presently, he felt the itch of curiosity return once more, and he decided to join.

Other:
Taras' Pokémon:

Sable* Female Purrloin [Limber]
Sable serves as nothing but Taras' pet, as he much prefers fighting himself as opposed to fighting using Pokémon.

*No connection to the person known as Sable.

Re: Relic of the Lost God [Sign-up/OOC] Open

Name: Pin Godfrey
Gender:
Age: 23

Appearance:
Pin is a youthful-looking man despite his weathered skin and a few premature lines on his face. He looks, in fact, quite like he's spent a decade being sprayed in the face by salt. His long-fingered hands are pretty rough as well, with the occasional callus despite how he tries to take care of them. His personal appearance is actually rather oddly contrasting; in spite of these necessary flaws, Pin keeps himself relatively well-kept. His fingernails are kept well trimmed but usable, his honey-brown hair is only just long enough to lie flat, and his clothes are kept studiously clean despite the odd patch or stitch. He wears a pair of thick, good shoes and carries an black
pocket watch in his... pocket. A little sheathed knife hangs on a cord around his neck most of the time, handle-down.

His left hand and half of his forearm isn't there anymore.

Personality: Pin is generally quite amiable, patting people on the back or petting a pokémon he sees. Although he's not exactly uber-cheerful, he seems quite oblivious when people are annoyed by his attitude and/or penchant for physical contact. He acts like an old friend to people he barely knows, and he's even more good-willed to people who really are his friend. Despite all this, Pin is a clever man and can generally understand people very well.

Pin is also very willing to work. He always does his share and often quite a bit more, and even in his spare time he bugs people into letting him learn what they do and how they do it. He does this at least in part to make up for his disability, on some level thinking that people won't notice as much if he shows off how well he can do work. He'd deny all of that if you asked, of course, and too much needling about the injury tends to make him slightly less than good-natured. His main act of anger is stony silence and hateful looks, and he doesn't try to escalate it past that unless he has to. However, Pin is quite handy with cutting edges and isn't the least bit scared of blood. Pin doesn't like messes, though, so he tends to do some cleaning up even when he doesn't really need to.

Why did you join the Pirates: Pin is from a large fishing town originally. He spent his early adolescence through his late late teens working on the docks, cutting lines and lifting crates and other such work. The pay wasn't ever very good but Pin was good at it. Pin lost his forearm to a gigantic crate that pinned his arm against the docks. He eventually went off to the town mentioned in the opening text, trying to find more work of this kind, but he kinda lost his job a while ago. A lot of people won't even look at a cripple when trying to find workers, so. He took up some work at the local watering hole but beat feet when he heard about this 'quest' thing. To be honest, Pin has been feeling a tad depressed lately so he figures it'll be a change of scenery. And gold is always nice.

Other:

Pin's partner in quite nearly everything is a short little sawk by the name of Julan. His clothes are hand-stitched. (What, a Fighting-type isn't allowed to know how to sew?) He's silent most of the time but enjoys talking to pokémon who are about his skill level. (Generally this means fully-evolved Fighting-types, but this varies rather wildly)

Pin himself has a mild addiction to Sweet Hearts.
