[Open] Lavani Devoured

Coloursfall

THIS IS HOW WE BLEED
The plane of Lavani is a peaceful place, a world of civilization. A large amount of the plane is infused with White mana, and the other four colours exist, of course, but the colour of order is the easiest to harness, Planeswalkers native to Lavani often making use of a dash of White as well as the mana they find themselves most drawn to. Vast walled cities exist all over Lavani, from the deepest forests to the tops of great mountains, shining stars in a sea of gentle wilderness. There have been no major wars on Lavani for many decades, and the plane has lived mostly undisturbed.

Until the Conflux on the plane of Alara.

A draconic Planeswalker, native to the shard of Jund in Alara, feared that the great event would cause her home to be invaded by the other four shards, and fled the realm, soon ending up in Lavani.

She loathed what she saw.

The plane was alien to her, the forests neat and well-kept by the elves, oceans tame, even the wild mountains in neat order. The dragoness took a stretch of forest as her own and set to work. The native dragons were small creatures compared to her children on Jund, and she made the improvement of them her first mission. She worked in secret for a long time, until a neighbouring city of elves noticed an increase in dragon attacks, which had been so rare before.

They investigated, and soon stumbled upon the deep valley the Planeswalker had carved into the earth, carving into a deep system of caves, tapping into the Red mana lurking there. The valley was too deep and the dragons too vicious to go any farther. They left her be.

That was their greatest mistake.

Caytna, Broodmother of Jund, was ready.

The siege on Lavani had begun, endless hordes of beasts from the depths of far-away Jund pouring from the gash in the earth, searching to carve Lavani in the image of their home. The unprepared armies were quickly overwhelmed.

There are now only the Planeswalkers of Lavani left to stop their home from being devoured.

It is now up to you.

Magic: the Gathering! Yay! You don't need to know too much of the lore to play, mostly just about Planeswalking and stuff, as Lavani is a plane of my own. You can also feel free to invent cities and so on for your character to be from, as it spices things up a bit. Just remember, that Lavani has not had (large-scale) conflict very often, and the world is very neat and tidy due to the overabundance of White mana.

IS UP!

Name: Farsanni the Wolf-Hearted
Species: Elf/Wolfir
Age: 1723
Gender: Male
Mana Colour(s): Green/Black

Appearance:
--Elf: Farsanni stands at a looming 6'4", but is very lanky, and does not look like the kind of person who would stand long in fist fight. Despite his extremely advanced age, Farsanni still looks miraculously young, an attribute of having been under the werewolf curse for so long, as well as his elvish heritage, and a blessing he requested of Avacyn, to be restored the years that had been stolen from him. Farsanni has long brown hair that falls well past his shoulders, and typically has a single braid at the back. He wears the upper half of a wolf skull as a helm, with something of a cape of leather extending down, covering most of his hair, the leather from the chaperon extends out of the skull's ear areas, making it look as though it has ears. Farsanni has heterochromida, and thus his right eye is a deep forest green, whereas his left eye is a bright, stunning amber.

Farsanni wears a specialized leather and cloth robe, built in triangular forms, with the left side of his chest exposed, though he wears crude leather wrappings to cover just over his nipple line. He wears simple beige trousers underneath, and reinforced leather boots on his feet. Farsanni wields a 7' gnarled staff made of a special wood found in a swamp he grew up near. This staff carries multiple uses for him, acting as a walking stick, being a proper channel for his Planeswalker powers, as well as being able to sustain Farsanni if he is without food.

--Wolfir: In his Wolfir form, Farsanni stands at a taller 6'6", and is built in a powerful muscular form. His fur is a combination of a bark brown, forest green, and accents of black as deep as shadows themselves. He wears sturdy reinforced leather armour in this form, primarily covering his nether regions, upper legs, wrists, and several thick wrapping across his chest. He has two swords at his hips in this form, both being short swords of an impressive design (reminiscent of the Oblivion Elven Short Swords), each are exactly three and a half feet long, from hilt tip to blade tip, and morph from his staff. His eyes remain the same in this form, if not slightly more piercing.

History: Farsanni is native to the plane of Zendikar, and was born and raised in the Bala Ged Jungles. Farsanni had a relatively normal childhood for any Elf in the Bala Ged, and was raised to be a tracker. He underwent the Joraga ceremony to become an adult eating a poisonous mushroom that would stop his heart, and poison his blood against Vampires.

Farsanni's spark ignited when he had been sent out on a tracking mission south of the settlement, where he encountered an enormous Wurm. He attempted to defend himself with the teachings of his elders, as well as with all the knowledge he had. In the end he was crushed, and left for dead, his comrades never sending out a search party. It would be not for several weeks until he was recovered, not by the Joraga, but by the Mul Daya, who determined that taking him in wound end up being beneficial, as his druidic teachings mixed with the necromantic and shamanistic powers of their own would shape a very capable warrior.

Farsanni, not yet having noticed his spark having ignited, would continue on, wary of the Mul Daya, but learning what they taught him willingly. He would eventually depart from the settlement, having a newfound wanderlust, and would end up discovering a strange swamp, imbued with equal amounts of black and green mana, an often difficult thing to find. The trees here looked dead, but were in fact more alive and thriving then most trees Farsanni had ever seen. Farsanni would end up building a small hut here, finding the environment peaceful. Not long after would Farsanni discover his Planeswalker capabilities, and would begin travelling to other planes, always returning to his home with new souvenirs.

One trip to Innistrad fell into disaster, however, where he wound up in a poor situation with the native Vampire populace, and was cast out to the woods, where the wounded Farsanni found himself at the mercy of the wolves, geists, and werewolves that roamed the woods. In an unfortunate turn of events, he ended up becoming a werewolf, and attempted to seclude himself to the deep forest. Many a century passed until one fateful day, another Planeswalker, Lilliana Vess, opened the Helvault, releasing Avacyn. Farsanni was final given the opportunity to rid himself of his werewolf curse, and become one of the Wolfir, and took it gratefully. Now with the inner peace he needed, Farsanni set himself to using his powers to allow himself to shapeshift, a power that had been removed from Planeswalkers at the Great Mending, ages prior to his birth. He eventually succeeded after several decades, though only limited to reverting to his original form, as well as transforming his staff into a pair of short swords when he transformed into his Wolfir form.

Farsanni would return to his home on Zendikar to find that it was still intact, after all the years, his magic managing to preserve it, however he discovered that during his absence, he had not been able to aid in the defense of Zendikar against the Eldrazi. Furious with amount of time that had been wasted, Farsanni began travelling more, looking for problems he could help fix. Eventually he came to Lavani, and discovered from the local elves that another, corrupt Planeswalker in the form of a dragon was laying siege to the Plane. He decided that this would be his redemption for failing to defend Zendikar from the Eldrazi.

Other: Farsanni is adept in druidic, necromantic, and shaman spells, and has developed a close attachment to wolves, geists, and Wolfirs. He also is very adept in summoning the undead, and can keep a large number of shambling corpses under his control at a time, though this can quickly drain his mana if he's not careful. Farsanni also hates Wurms and Vampires, for the past they had caused for him, and will often lash out at them with swift vengeance.

Name: Chiyari Trackless
Species: Leonin
Gender: Female
Mana Colour(s): Red (White)

Appearance: With short, cream-colored fur and golden eyes, Chiyari is a fairly typical specimen from her pride of (white) leonin. She typically prefers loose, simple clothing that doesn't restrict her movement, often in very pale colors. To the superstitious, she may appear to be a ghost--a fact that she has exploited many times over the course of her adventures.

Chiyari is proud of her leonin heritage and prefers to appear in her true form wherever possible. When trying to blend in on planes where leonin are rare or unknown, she will reluctantly pick something more appropriate to her environment, although she restricts her repertoire to predators and disdains canine forms. Even when shapeshifted, she does her best to retain her light coloration, often opting to appear albino if her adopted species is not naturally pale.

History: Unlike many planeswalkers, Chiyari never thirsted for power or delved deep into arcane secrets. As is typical for her, it was sticking her nose where it didn't belong that led to her awakening.

She was born to a well-to-do pride of leonin inhabiting Lavari's expansive plains. The youngest of five cubs born to a respected pair of crafters, she soon acquired a reputation as a troublemaker. Life in her pride was comfortable, sedate, and hellishly boring. Chiyari delighted playing pranks on pridemembers of all ranks, and her insatiable curiosity led to her seeing or overhearing things that she shouldn't--and then, with all her patience and self-control, blurting them out at exactly the wrong moment. Her parents did their best to be understanding, but neither they nor anyone in the pride was prepared for a cub like Chiyari. Although her trickery was never malicious, few appreciated the disruption she brought to their lives, and things only got worse as she proved to be gifted with magic and her pranks grew more elaborate.

In turn, Chiyari couldn't stand the stifling routines and traditions that gripped her pride. She was fortunate to be born on the higher end of its social structure, but its restrictive class hierarchy meant that she often earned extra ire for humiliating her "betters" or spending too much time associating with the "lower classes." She had no patience for lessons and no patience for those who didn't appreciate her tricks, considering them stuffy and entirely deserving of humiliation. Still, she didn't leave the pride out of disgust or a sense of alienation; she simply heard tales of the city from a group of human traders her pride hosted one summer, and decided she absolutely had to check it out, regardless of the fact that she wasn't yet considered an adult--it's not like she was going to ask her parents for permission or anything.

Although her journey to Lavani's largest city was a riotous adventure, once she arrived, Chiyari was deeply disappointed. It was more colorful than her pride, certainly, and there were far more people crammed together, but it was honestly just more of the same thing she'd grown up with. The city streets were safe and heavily policed, the locals seemed to have invented laws about everything, even how it was bad to go for a swim in public fountains, and the tall, crowded buildings made her feel trapped. Chiyari probably would have returned to her pride in short order if she hadn't stumbled across the grand circus.

Though there was certainly entertainment in her pride, but most of it centered around traditional dances and ceremonies, or ritual reenactments of myths and parables. She'd never before seen a place where people would go to marvel at the bizarre and silly, where comedy was considered an art form, and where one could even make it one's profession. Chiyari, naturally acrobatic and appreciating a pie to the face like no other leonin she'd ever known, had found her calling. For almost three years, she called the grand circus home.

Outside her job as a performer, though, Chiyari couldn't help but get mixed up in questionable activities. She was possessed of a powerful sense of justice and dabbled in vigilantism on off-hours, though in such a well-tended city there were hardly more than petty thieves and small-time corrupt dignitaries to keep a would-be avenger busy. Nevertheless, it was through her brushes with the underworld that she learned that researchers at the local academy had uncovered a truly miraculous artifact, rumored to be almost as old as Lavani itself, and with unknown, but surely incredible powers.

There was no way Chiyari was going to miss out on something like that. Infiltrating the academy was a thrilling task in and of itself, and Chiyari approached confounding its magical wards and mundane guardians as a thrilling game--one over which she eventually triumphed. On the day that the research group was finally preparing to activate their artifact she was there, lurking in the shadows of the high ceiling. The artifact itself didn't look like much, just a hunk of old marble that looked like it might have broken off some sort of statue. It turned out to have much more power than she would have expected, though, and far more than the wizards working on it had anticipated. Probing at it with their spells, they uncovered a well of energy so intense that it ripped through the wards they'd set up in a matter of seconds in an arcane explosion that demolished most of the research wing and saddled the academy with a nightmarish amount of paperwork. It also flung Chiyari right out of Lavari and into the life of a planeswalker.

Chiyari took to planeswalking with simple delight, traveling for the joy of seeing new sights and getting into all kinds of interesting trouble. She rarely touched down in any one place for long, if only because people often tired of her antics fairly quickly. For all that Chiyari finds the wonders of foreign planes far more stimulating than the boring, stuffy place she grew up, she still returns to Lavani now and again to pay visits to the grand circus and (very briefly) her family. Her most recent trip home hasn't been a happy one, though. No longer is her world a stultifying place of peace and stability. Chaos has come to Lavani at last, in the form of marauding beasts imported straight from Jund.

Chiyari is all for shaking things up a bit, of course. But there is no way some scaly idiot is going to go and declare herself lord over Chiyar's home town.

Other: Although Chiyari obviously shows the most affinity with red mana, being brought up on Lavani in a doting, if stifling, tribe, means she hasn't been able to escape without the slightest tinge of white. This is more evident in her personality than in her magical abilities, but when pressed she is able to call on some measure of white mana, usually favoring spells that draw on the sun.

Although her native tribe were proud weaponsmiths and typically went into battle heavily armored, Chiyari doesn't carry weapons. She prefers to conjure what she needs on the fly, shaping weaponry out of pure flame and tending to favor small, light weapons, such as darts or daggers.

Name: Feliel Dawnshadow
Species: Angel
Gender: Male
Mana Colour(s): Black/White

Appearance: Feliel prefers a very imposing, almost flamboyant appearance for his normal form. His skin is very pale, with neck-length black hair that he keeps very neat at all times. He is very tall, reaching about 6'10'', and is extremely thin. A pair of black feathered wings sweep out behind him, normally about 15 feet when fully stretched to keep them easily managed, but if he feels like making a show he has a habit of flaring them up much larger. Most of the time, though, they are kept folded at his back. He tries to keep a red glow to his eyes most of the time, but more often than he'd like they slip back to their natural soft brown state.

He is not much one for armour, favouring silky black robes adorned with elaborate silver embroidering. His right leg is false, a symbol he kept from his brush with death and the awakening of his Spark. In a natural fashion for him, the prosthetic is made of darksteel.

History: Feliel began as a low-ranking Celebrant, serving the greater wishes of the other angels and mortals of Bant. He specialized in healing, and was a common sight around small clinics in the rural areas, lending his knowledge to doctors. Everything was going well for him despite his low status... until the Conflux happened.

Doing some work around the edge of the border of Bant, he was exposed to a massive dose of Black mana emanating from the now very near Grixis. This caused a change to sweep through his mind. Why should he have to answer to anyone? He knew his knowledge of medicine and healing was unmatched. This stupid caste system was keeping him down! Who says a Celebrant can't be as great as an Amesha, or even an Asura? He had a new mission; throw a wrench into this entire hierarchy, not only for himself, but for all of Bant. He marched up to the Court of Orderly Contemplation, spoke his mind...

And was promptly exiled from Bant.

Now without any sort of order in his life, Feliel was left not feeling that empowerment he'd thought he'd have. Despite the Black energy he was still drawing from, he was still White at heart, and the conflicts that raged in his mind were leading him to feel incredibly lost. He wandered, so far from everything he had known. The newfound Black energy drew him closer and closer to Grixis, and as he came nearer he felt his power begin to grow, but as he was still very innocent he has no idea what the plane was like. He crossed the Obelisk dividing Esper and Grixis, and it was almost immediately that he realized he was in far over his head. He had never seen so much horror and death in all his life. Yet his stubbornness forced him onward, deeper and deeper into Grixis.

It was only natural that trouble would soon find him. He was not alone, and it was not long before a certain someone sensed a fallen soul from Bant. The Defiler of Souls arose, seeking to claim this lovely little prize. Feliel, in those brief moments when he had been spotted, knew he was doomed. The Defiler's whip had already coiled around his leg and was dragging him in.

As his mind flitted over any possible way of escape, that's when his Spark ignited. Still in a panic, he fled the plane without even knowing what power had just consumed him, but was unable to spare the leg that had been snared.

When he awoke he found himself on the plane of Lavani. Though for quite a while he was dazed and disoriented, he eventually found his bearings. Since that day, despite his traveling he's made Lavani his home, finally finding a sense of comfort there despite his unusual situation. Free from the horrors of Grixis and the strict order of Bant, he finally began to settle into his own personality, developing a fondness for the power Black allowed him while staying true to his White roots. He has since taken up his old job of healing, but is fiercely competitive of his skills, believing he is the best of the best.

Other: His conflict in personality can still be seen to this day. He still cares about those he heals, but also takes his work extremely seriously. He has an arrogant streak a mile wide, but deep down is a good person who will do the right thing. Sometimes his seriousness slips, and when this happens he tends to even be a bit silly. He's extremely showy in both his expression of himself and his powers.

Also, he has a massive, massive weakness for rats. He finds them adorable.

Whoo, borrowing a character from Colours for this RP. Not that I didn't have my own, but all of mine are of colors that are already very well-represented in the RP. And we needed a Black user. Plus I really like this character and look forward to writing for him.

Name: Velian Kolar
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Mana Colors: Blue, Red, Green

Appearance: A thin man standing around 5' 10", with frizzled, graying hair, and dark blue eyes. He looks aged, yet still energetic. He is usually still seen wearing an Izzet outfit, a red and blue robe adorned with and held together by copper and gold, but growing along the left sleeve you can see the result of one experiment, a small vine sprouting plenty of aromatic leaves. He is usually seen wearing either goggles or round spectacles. A piece of equipment you might see him sporting is a brass or copper vambrace with a tube running to a small pack on the back of his robe, a device that channels energy.

Velian mostly uses his shapeshifting ability to observe animals without spooking them.

History: A native of the city-plane of Ravnica, Velian grew up with a burning curiosity that let him fit right into the ranks of the Izzet guild. He learned diligently, majoring in the field of elementalism. He crafted weirds, engineered devices to bend energies to whatever they needed, and like many of his colleagues, solved problems. Even if they didn't exist. Velian might not have changed gears as easily as the rest of them, but he did a good job nonetheless.

One day, after working on the city of Ravnica's water system, Velian was approached by a stranger. The stranger, who was human, but certainly didn't seem like anyone he'd ever met, watched him at work, approached him, and simply said, "You'll do great."

The stranger then walked off, nodding, perhaps writing something down. Unconcerned with a stranger when Ravnica's water supply was at his fingertips, he resumed work.

The next day, though, changed Velian's life forever. While sketching some schematics for yet another improved energy routing system, Velian vanished.

Velian landed with a thud, though it didn't hurt at all. Below him was no longer a desk with a slide rule, but cold dirt. While the landing didn't hurt, Velian suddenly felt very nauseous. He almost vomited, but managed to stand up dizzily. Next to him was some sort of large creature, hunch-backed, and dazzling with magical energy. In front of him, a huge, muscular human with a sword that seemed as large as Velian. Behind that warrior, an older, but just as tough looking man, hands aglow with mana. And behind Velian, was the stranger from yesterday, looking worse for wear.

Unfortunately, Velian had no time to talk, not that he easily could while feeling so sick from... whatever it was that happened to him. Hearing an incantation, Velian's view turned back towards the older barbarian. Flame flew from his outstretched hand at a wicked pace, causing Velian to duck. It sizzled over his head, and hit something with a thwack. Velian looked behind him to see the stranger, on the ground and now smoldering.

Velian ran. There was a thicket of trees in front. He stumbled a few times, but made it. Nobody seemed to be after him. Turning around, Velian didn't see anybody, and so he fell asleep against a tree.

Like it or not, he was on a different plane entirely, the plane of Dominaria, the continent of Otaria. Elves found him, and nursed him back to health. He learned to live amongst them, for he had nowhere else to go. In the process, Velian earned an appreciation for life outside the big city. His natural curiosity extended to the animals, which he intently studied, if only because there was little else to work on. He learned something of the druidic arts, adding the interaction with life to his manipulation of the elements.

The spark awakened within Velian when the creatures of Krosa mutated, becoming nigh unstoppable for the mere elementalist and engineer. About to get clawed and turned into a snack, Velian flashed and suddenly he was on the amber fields of Lavani.

Lost yet again, Velian had to start anew. However, he soon discovered what he had done. He had gone to a new world, and this time of his own accord. Excited by the possibilities, Velian first secured housing locally, before travelling the Multiverse. He found on his native Ravnica that he would not be so easily accepted by his former Izzet colleagues, who found Velian's new talents unseemly, reminding them of the stuffy Selesnya. They didn't matter to him now, though, not that he had found far more power, and more importantly, knowledge than they could dream of. Studying both Izzet and Simic techniques, Velian returned to his house in Lavani, determined to combine his varied experiences and explore all that the Multiverse offered, for the betterment of life.

Other: The trademark Izzet spontaneity in Velian got tempered by the slower pace of life in the forests of Otaria. In general, he is out not just to learn, but to improve life. He has not only done much work in the field of elemental control and engineering, but has also been doing work in the field of medicine as well. Being a planeswalker, Velian usually goes to other planes to seek new things, then brings them back to tinker or add to existing experiments. His magical ability is largely as an elementalist, but he also has knowledge of druidic magic and artifice.

Why yes, the whole ordeal started with a game of Magic.

Looking good so far everyone! UuU What good forms. Hoping to start soon so hurry hurry~

Here's me.

Name: Aemulus the Endless
Species: Aven / Human-Phoenix
Gender: Male
Mana Colour(s): Red/White

Appearance:
In his natural form, Aemulus is a tall, slender eagle-like Aven, with golden-brown feathers, thick clawed feet, and a sharp hooked beak. He tends to wear only heavy golden bracelets and a black iron collar when in this form, his feathered body not really needing much in the way of cover.

The form he adopted after unlocking his spark, however, is a bit different. He appears mostly bird from the waist down in this form, but from there up, he has the appearance of a slim, dark-skinned human male with long black hair. His plumage is red with gold patches in this form, and his tail is long and serpentine, though still feathered. his plumage extends up his back a ways, up to where his wings arc from his back, each as long as he is tall. He wears the same thing as he normally does, though with the addition of a bit of black iron armour and a white cloth at his waist.

No matter what he looks like, Aemulus is very fond of coating his wings in flame when he joins combat, raining sparks and blazing feathers down on his foes.

History:
Aemulus was born in Lavani, into a clan of Aven who lived at the base of a volcano. The volcano was called, in the Aven tongue, Firebelcher, and inside the mouth of the great mountain, a mighty Phoenix lived. The Aven of Aemulus's clan worshipped the creature as a god, leaving it offerings of all kinds in exchange for their safety. Aemulus led a fairly quiet life in the structured city he called home, dabbling here and there in art and poetry, but all of it seeming to grow dull quickly.

He yearned for something more.

Once he grew older, the young Aven would adventure into the forests around the volcano, taking great pleasure in discovering the new things he could see there, flying over the treetops. And one day, he flew far enough to see another settlement - a human city on the edge of the forest and a great plain of rolling hills.

He took to watching the humans from a copse of trees in the outskirts of the city, fascinated by the fur or featherless creatures, how well they managed without wings or claws, and only what their could make with their own hands as weapons (and magic of course). He continued at this daily ritual for several years, until a young scholar spotted him, and followed him home, curious as to from where the bird-man had come. The trek was long, but he managed to track the Aven to his home, and set up a small camp in the forest to see what this strange place was. But Aemulus wasn't oblivious, and he noticed the human who had followed him. The young Aven was ecstatic, accosting the human and engaging him in conversation as best he could with his limited knowledge of the common tongue. The human scholar, who said his name was Luka, and Aemulus became quick friends.

It was then he decided to approach the volcano itself.

This was a mistake.

The lady of the mountain, the great Phoenix, did not like humans on her volcano. The peak rumbled ominously, and fell silent for a few moments, when those achingly long moments were over, the lava came, pouring from the maw of the mountain. The Aven clan panicked, frantically searching for a cause, and they soon discovered Aemulus and his friend. They were sure that the human was the cause of this disaster, and faced with no other option in their eyes, they captured both him and Aemulus, who had brought him there, and headed for the peak.

Once there, and dodging lava and flame the two were bound back-to-back and cast into the lava-filled maw to their deaths to appease the phoenix. At that moment, feathers and skin seared by the blazing heat and only seconds left, something rare occurred - Luka and Aemulus's Sparks both ignited in a flurry of Red mana, and in that moment, both Aemulus the Endless and Luka of the Crimson Storm were born.

Aemulus managed to snap the heat-weakened binds and haul the other boy into the sky with him, soon gazing down at the now-calm mouth of the volcano. It was then he knew that his destiny was now somehow linked to the plane, and he took his friend far from both of their homes.

The pair set out on the adventures one would expect a pair of boys so young with powers so great, but Aemulus was reluctant to leave his home plane, while Luka wasn't. So the two went their separate ways, and Aemulus hasn't seen him since.

When the invasion came, Aemulus knew this was what he had been waiting for. He set out for the valley with all the knowledge of fire and light he had acquired in his journeys.

Other: He specializes in direct damage and healing, and is fairly young for a Planeswalker.

Go ahead and drop my reserve. Turns out I won't have time to juggle this, volunteer work, and school. Sorry.

Name: Lunessa the Tidecrafter
Species: Mer/ Water-Elemental/ Half-Mer
Gender: Female
Mana Colour(s): Blue

Appearance: Lunessa has two main forms depending on where she is. When she takes to the water, her lower body transforms into a long fin styled like a Betta. At the end of her fingers are sharp claws, a fin-like ears and a array of colouring along her body from where her fin meets the rest of her body. Her hair is cropped short in a reverse bob with only one exception. Along the nap of her neck she had kept her hair extremely long, braided in a multitude of thin strands hosting glass beads and pieces of sea life (bits of coral, a sea shell, the like).

When she is on land, she takes a more human form. Aware of the human races need for modesty she dons a loose top of thin fabric and a wrap tied around her waist. In this form she still keeps her fin-like ears and her hair style. On random parts of her body will be a collection of scales cascading and fading out along her form. She also wears simple sandals to protect her feet from harm when walking above water.

Her final form is that of a water elemental in spirit. She melts into the water and re-arise as a large serpentine-Feline creature of pure water. Her eyes are pupil-less pools of glowing rippling water, the wisdom of her mana colour filling her sight and thoughts. In this form, glowing patterns litter her body in markings similar to tribal runes, parts of her 'hair' hosting carved drift wood in sections and hanging like dreads. In this form, she does not speak with her mouth but with her mind in a calming voice similar to a lazy river.

History: Lunessa is a native to Esper, born and raises to the oceans of the land of wisdom and mind. The waves as her cradle and the ocean floor as her home, she lived a fairly pleasant life if not a little dangerous to the food-chain of those bigger and smaller. She lived on her own, a part from other Merfolk when she came to age, wanting to explore and learn what the ocean may hide from the eyes of the curious.

Searching sunken ships and unearthing relics of a old world was her life, her mind wanting to absorb the knowledge behind the constructs of the artifacts native to Esper. Repairing and dismantling artifacts, learning their uses and spells, this was what made her life interesting in her eyes. Her favor of the artifacts were those that lived above her ocean home however, near the ruins of a once great kingdom where there was only those of artifact or mechanic.

She would often lift herself onto rocks to watch the strange artifact creatures, some looking to be calm in their existence while others looked angered to be tossed like scraps. Her favorites of the artifact creatures were the Myr as a whole, the Windwright Mage for her grace and knowledge, and finally the Salvage Slasher for reason unknown to even her. She would watch these beings throughout the days, learning all she could from her view point of who they worked and wishing to learn more to quench her thirst for knowledge.

As with all quests for knowledge and unending curiosity comes a point where caution should come first. But as most cases go, the time for thoughts of caution comes to late to those on their search. During one of her routine searches of the ocean floor, she was in the midst of her studying of a strange rune on the wall of a cavern when the world started to shake. She did not pay attention to the signs of a coming quake, with no sight of a fish or the sound of a shark on the hunt, she found herself trapped within the cavern as the ceiling started to crumble. Tossed back by the back flow of water, she was forced through the weakened back of the cavern into a vast catacomb hidden well under the sea.

Hidden beneath all she knew, laid a sunken city with waterlogged towers and rusted bits of artifact looking lost yet frozen in time. The water seemed to hold a soft glow from what little light filtered through the near non-existent vents above and luminescent moss that drinks up the light and produces a stronger glow. As she floated above, staring down at the sight that laid before her, her view was then filled with the large boulder that had shaken loose from the ceiling during the quake. Frozen in fear, she saw her life pass before her eyes as the rock fell closer to her and promising a painful crushing death.

It was this moment that her spark awoken. Her body melted and blended with the water around her, her eyes the only thing visible in the semi-lighted ruin city. She understood everything now, she could see the knowledge she searched for ripple in the fountain of her mind, and she knew what she has become with but a simple wish to live.

With her new powers as a Planeswalker, she traveled to the other shards to investigate what artifacts they may house. The lands of Bant and Grixis held a interest in her as the lands of control and unavoidable death, the land of Naya made her see the beauty that the land may hold and how even the simple of swamps can become beautiful with the most colourful of flowers. Jund however struck a special chord with her with the meeting of its own native Planewalker. The land was filled with fire, the need to devour those before you for power and unrestrained passion in all pursuits. It had no wisdom in their actions, no control or silent dignity. The only thing it had that resembled her own Esper was the law of death, the little traces of black mana in both shards.

But that was the only thing that was the same. Since their meeting they have been at odds, both returning to their own shards and have little to no contact unless it was needed by some unknown force or if one felt the other was harboring thoughts of invasion. When she returned to her home of Esper, she returned to the place where her awakening came and started to meditate on what she should do next in the years to come, her purpose for her spark igniting.

She made the ruined city her new home, protecting and repairing the place with her new found knowledge of the old artifacts of this place. As the years passed, seasons changed and new life was born to replace the old of the sea, she finally started to try and remove the city from its tomb, returning it to the surface as a island. She wished to lead the homeless artifact creatures to a new place, to rebuild Esper and its love of artifacts even stronger than before.

Then the Conflux came.

She felt the binding of the shards into Alara's rebirth, felt the powers of Blue, White, Black, Green and Red become one once more. She had known this was what had been the world before the shattering, and she hoped this would not lead to war between the once separate shards.

But something was amiss. She left her home and searched the now bonded shards, looking for what was missing from the flow. At first she didn't find what could be wrong, what could have made the ripple of worry in her mind, until she came upon Jund. There it was clear what was amiss, and she knew what she had to do to ensure nothing would unsettle in a alien plane beyond that of Alara.

Hopping from plane to plane, she came upon Lavani. She could feel the overpowering magic of White, order and law ruling the world in even the forests and seas. She recoiled at first, finding the force too much and rather dull in nature. After lingering in the world for a while, she grew accustomed to the plane and started to her search once more.

She prays she is not too late.

Other: Well that's sure a thing. May add more later but I need to run off to work.

HOKAY I'm going to be starting this either tonight when I'm home from work (unlikely) or sometime tomorrow, so anyone who wants to join still, get your forms in!

Name: Roran of the Birches
Species: Ape
Gender:
Mana Color(s): Green

Appearance: Roran is, by all appearances, a muscular, child-sized monkey. He stands bipedally at roughly five feet. His fur, which covers all but his palms, face, and feet, is naturally white-and-chestnut, but it contains a green tint caused by natural moss growth. His bare skin, found on his face, hands, and feet, is grey-brown. Roran's eyes are large and expressive, with hazel irises and pupils that generally remain rather large. His tail is long and capable of supporting far more than his own body weight.

Roran wears a loose, mint green robe when appropriate; it has a cut to allow his tail free movement. He also carries a woolen satchel, enchanted to carry rather a lot more than it look like it could, that contains objects that he's collected over the years. His only other obvious possession is a large, smooth wooden club; it has a spiral of amber running down it, and it's nearly as tall as Roran himself (most of the time).

History: Roran's people are not great in number; breeding complications in the species leave a sizeable minority of the apes barren. The culture has adapted to this deficiency, forming a communal system of child-rearing in order to fully utilize the available apepower. This 'day-care' sort of thing meant that Roran did not have parents in the traditional sense, although he had a number of 'aunts' and 'uncles' with whom he was relatively close. He grew up with some number of cousins in the jungle ruins that housed his people.

When Roran was on the verge of adulthood, he was stricken with an illness. Transmitted by small, jewel-like insects, the Glare Fever was normally considered a minor, if long-term, ailment. However, Roran had a nasty reaction and faced a long, depressing spiral into his death. After nearly two years of constant sickness and periodic lessening of hope, Roran fell into a deep coma; unable to feed him effectively, his family was left to let him to slide into starvation. As his heart slowed and his skin jaundiced, however, his Spark awoke; his eyes flashed open for a brief moment, thrumming mint-green, and with that Roran simply vanished.

He reappeared in a world with a rather more advanced medical system than anything that Roran had seen or heard of in Lavani. He swiftly dipped back into unconsciousness, but awoke a day later, having been practically cured. He then fainted, again, having caught sight of the people's chicken-heads and writhing snake-wings. He woke up more quickly the second time around, and handled the shock better. Something hissed in passing from a doctor to her nurse led Roran to the conclusion that he was not anywhere approaching 'home'; his subsequent questions confirmed it. No sooner did he fully realize the gravity of the situation than he suddenly vanished once more, thankfully appearing back at home, in his bed.

It's been years, now, and Roran's traveled a bit more since then.

Other: Roran enjoys collecting interesting objects.

His magic is pretty much Green in its entirety, but Lavani itself, as well as his apish penchant for social cohesion, has allowed some White to seep in at the edges. Roran's a pragmatist, though, and isn't above whipping out a weak little Red flame spell if it'll save his hide. He has a weakness for enchantments.
