Arena Description: The Second Anomaly
The Second Anomaly is, as its name suggests, an Anomaly. Arceus only knows how the battlers got there or how they'll get out, but such is the way of the universe. Also unknown is how anyone can see, being as there are no visible light sources, but it is as bright as a typical midsummers midday. It is, at least to begin with, an infinitely large plain white platform floating in nothing. As the battle goes on, however, that platform changes to whatever is required by the battle - if, for example, there is a fish Pokémon on the field, there will be a large pond to swim in. There will be air for everyone can breathe. If Sandstorm is used, sand appears. And so forth. The gravity there is only half of Earth's, so each Pokémon is only half as heavy for things like Grass Knot. This also removes any energy cost that Flyers or Hoverers would need to fly or hover, be they Inherently or Consentually.

The most important effect of this Anomaly is that at the end of each round, both Pokémon in battle will randomly 'evolve' into any other Pokémon. This can be any Pokémon in existence, including Legendaries. This means they gain the new species' ability, moveset, types, everything. Also, the Pokémon are dazed and confused after this 'evolution', so as soon as the first round is complete and the first 'evolution' has taken place, the Pokémon can't listen to any commands and their moves are selected randomly, similar to Sleep Talk.

Another of the major effects of the Second Anomaly is that at the end of every round, at the same time as the 'evolutions', both battlers' energy is restored to 100%. Not infinite energy, note, so if a Pokémon uses incredibly energy-intensive moves, it could, at least in theory, faint from energy loss. As though to compensate for this, and healing moves will automatically fail or, if indirect like Giga Drain, will only cause damage.

The last effect of note is that at the beginning of every third round, a random object will appear. Any object, from sardines to submarines, and they can appear in any manner the ref wants. What they do is also entirely up to the ref. They vanish at the end of the round, again in a manner of the ref's choosing.

Round 16

The referee seemed to be stalling for time. "And it has finally come to this... The harsh battle between two rivals is about to end! Both pokemon look like they're about to faint at the drop of a hat. The balance of the world lies in their hands! What will --"

"Just start the round already," one of the trainers shouted.

A wave of the referee flags later, the still-spiky Bactrian raised her cloth-like arms and began charging energy. What the referee was babbling was true -- whoever attacks first will be the winner of this round, and the camel-turned-legendary-turned-witch wasn't about to go down without at least doing some more damage. The Energy Ball in her hands soon crackled green, signifying that the attack was ready.

Brittany was flailing her long, skinny legs in the air when the Energy Ball struck her in the face.

Or when it struck one of her in the face, because what had looked like Brittany turned out to be one of her clones, and the image fizzled out as the Energy Ball passed through harmlessly. Brittany cackled evilly at the confused look an Bactrian's face. She might be in loads of pain from being tossed about last round, but she sure wasn't going to lose yet. Focusing her mind, Brittany sent out a powerful blast of psychic energy, a burst stronger than anything she had done before -- this should knock the stupid witch out, she thought to herself.

The RNGGods seemed to be not on her side though, because the blast, although powerful enough to send the dimensions twisting make space to start doing really funny things, did no damage to Bactrian at all. Bactrian silently thanked the RNGGods for saving her hat, and charged her body with dark-type energy, ready to rip her opponent to shreds before she die. Charging forward with cloth-hands raised, Bactrian swiped down at her opponent --

And then time stopped. Well, seems like the psychic blast did some good after all... Brittany, letting out a sigh of relief, once again gathered energy, trying to knock her opponent out before time returned to normal again. Her body glowing light blue, Brittany found her long, skinny legs inadvertently carrying her across the room in little skip-like motions as she blasted the water energy into the sky.

There was a split-second pause as time untwisted itself, then the raindrops began falling out of the sky.

Brittany collapsed on the ground, deciding to just give up now. She was tired and in pain, and none of her attacks did anything! Woe is me! Maybe she should go cut herself. Or get gothic lipstick. Yes, she will become a goth from now on, because life is so unfair to her and nobody understands her poor, tortured, teenage soul --

Bactrian ended the Misdreavus's misery with a bonk to the head, then rummaged through the fainted pokemon's purse to find that it only contained a receipt for some Bath & Body Works shampoos instead of, say, money, or some item that she could actually use.

Dammit.

After Asber exploded, imploded, and then rebuilt itself several dimensions away, the trainers found themselves finally able to battle again. Negrek's little "improvement" seemed to have stopped space-time while it was happening (the referee suspected that the Dialga the Boss Lady brought over wasn't a statue at all), because none of the trainers -- nor their pokemon -- had been able to move while buildings exploded and PC systems got set up. Sometime in the middle, Barubu had been able to return his fainted pokemon and sent out a new minion -- a small sandy-colored armadillo, by the looks of it.

The sandshrew wasn't very pleased, however, since nobody could move yet while Asber was under reconstruction.

Eventually, a long time-skip later, time and space went back to normal -- as normal as it could in this Anomaly -- and Dorothy decided that she wanted to murder something the moment she heard her orders.

Round 17
Dorothy stared at the nothingness that is the battlefield and sighed. This isn't going to end well, she knew it. One, her opponent was levitating. Levitating. And her trainer expected her to Earthquake it to death? The attack is not going to hit! Wet from the pouring rain and pissed off already, the sandshrew slammed her paw into the ground, watching the arena ripple with energy and taking down at least one victim. Bactrian just stared as the Earthquake passed harmlessly beneath it, trying to figure out why it wasn't able to move before that sandshrew. Some part of Time was still twisted in this space...

Oh well. Hopefully, Dorothy will have more money on her than the pokemon before. Floating all ninja-like, Bactrian approached the annoyed sand mouse and "accidentally" bumped into her very hard, taking care to swipe her pockets while she wasn't paying attention. To Bactrian's disappointment, the only thing of interest was a reminder to go to anger management class. Why are all its opponents so poor, dammit?

Dorothy, who definitely needed some anger management class, roared and slammed her paws into the arena again, which once again did nothing but knock a trainer off the arena floor. Bactrian decided to actually attack this time; from the bloodthirsty look in the sandshrew's eyes, this battle wasn't going to end well. Holding its mitten-hands in front of its body, Bactrian focused its energy into a cackling ball that looked pretty powerful -- yet the slightly warped Time and the fact that its opponent was a Ground Type meant that Dorothy absorbed the Electro Ball as if it were nothing.

The sandshrew was spazzing at this rate. Hissing, Dorothy slammed her paws into the arena once again -- at this rate, the floor is going to snap in half -- and knocked off the last trainer on the battlefield, while Bactrian just hovered, unharmed. Bactrian was in pain from the long battle before, but this was starting to get really funny. In fact, perhaps it was the fatigue getting to its head, Bactrian was so amused that it began to laugh. Very loudly. Dorothy cringed and held her ears, trying to drive out the ridiculously loud sound, but to no avail. Bactrian was causing too much of an Uproar. Even the rain droplets seemed to be repelled by all that noise.

The round was obviously ending, and Bactrian didn't even notice as it "poofed" into a weird blue rock-like thing and landed on the ground with a thump. Dorothy was more surprised -- correction, Dorothy freaked out, when she suddenly sprouted long, slender legs and started sparking electricity, then almost electrocuted the trainers through the rain. At the same time, Time suddenly untwisted itself -- seemed like Dialga had finally realized that something was going on -- and everything seemed to be back to normal again. For a certain definition of normal.

Round 18

The sudden transformation from a slow shrew into a long-legged zebra that could shot lightening bolts out of its eyes was disconcerting, at the very least. Before Dorothy could figure out what's going on (or, for that matter, on to stand on hooves when the ground was slippery and wet from the rain), a Venomoth poofed into existence right above her head. The Venomoth was obviously frazzled -- it fluttered around, panicking, probably unused to the decreased gravity of the arena, and scattered a load of sparkly powder all over Dorothy's head. Bactrian would've laughed if not for the fact that the Venomoth almost crashed into her on its way to escape and manged to make her sparkly as well. The dust would've been all nice and swell, if not for that the rain made it sticky and Dorothy couldn't figure out how to get rid of it no matter how hard she tried.

Oh hell. The blitzle growled (whinnied would've been a better word, actually) and charged forward at her opponent recklessly, not caring about her own safety. She wanted this battle over. Now. Too bad for her though, because the RNGods weren't paying attention to her attempts (she hadn't build enough shrines) and Bactrian managed to put up a sparkly green energy barrier right before Dorothy crashed into her. There was a bright-ish flash of light, a panicked flutter of wings (and more sparkly dust), and Dorothy rebounded off the Protected Bactrian, fuming.

Dammit. Dorothy growled again and, seeing that she was basically standing right over her opponent, decided to Stomp on the roggenrola instead. There were a few problems though: namely, Bactrian was a rock and therefore was not pleasant to stomp on. To be fair, it still wasn't pleasant to be stomped on, especially if you're dying already, but Dorothy still didn't do as much damage as she would've liked. Suddenly, Bactrian's rocky body cracked in half -- perhaps the strain of the Stomp was too much, or she was just so injured that she was going to die now -- but the roggenrola seemed to shrug off the fallen pieces of rock like it was nothing. In fact, Bactrian sure looked a lot faster and sleeker, now that the excess weight was gone.

Dorothy was too annoyed to care about the weather. A shadowy aura surrounded her body, and the blitzle shot after Bactrian, tackling the roggenrola to the ground. Dorothy seemed determined to chew her opponent to death -- or something -- because she clamped her teeth onto the rock and refused to let go. Bactrian was in too much pain to care anymore and, instead of struggling, focused on her opponent's energy signature. She'll be sure to deal the damage right back next action. If she survives...

With an all-too-familiar poof (to everyone beside Dorothy, at least), all the pokemon on the battlefield suddenly transformed again and the Venomoth was finally free to flutter off to... wherever it was going.

Round 19
The soggy referee waved its soggy referee flag (does anybody even care about this anymore?), and the round officially started. Bactrian was looking pretty much dead at this point -- she was covered with wounds and was barely holding on to her last shred of consciousness. For some reason, she's not tired in the least, just in pain, so she decided to use the strongest attack she could before unconsciounsness took her over. She focused all her power into her pincers and prepared to knock her opponent to the next dimension --

And Dorothy Tackled her to the ground. The leafeon was snarling something nasty, but Bactrian was suddenly overcame with a burst of pain and did not hear what her opponent was saying (it's a good thing, too, because Dorothy had a bit of a potty mouth). Concentration lost, Bactrian collapsed onto the ground, her breath knocked out of her. She struggled to keep conscious, but the pain was too much, and the blackness finally overtook her.

Dorothy stood by the fainted crawdaunt with a smug grin on her face. At the same time, the rain stopped pouring. Seems like things are finally starting to look up for her...

With a burst of white light, Dorothy found herself facing her next nemesis -- a blue-gray piece of metallic... something. It looked retarded, at any rate, and Dorothy couldn't wait to wipe the floors with it. Screw her lower health -- she has... uh, well, she didn't have money, but she is a figgin fuzzy electric spider with bad-ass purple stripes, and fuzzy electric spiders don't give a crap about weird hovering metallic things. She'll zap 'em right outta the sky.

Round 20

Dorothy stared at her opponent with disgust. That bell thing looked retarded, and she hated psychic types. Hate hate hate. The electric spider muttered something nasty under breath and spat at Han Tang. To everyone's surprise, the ball of what looked like spit expanded into a giant, sticky web of spider thread, and it completely enveloped Han Tang, who had no idea that spit could do that. A string of thread was still attached to Dorothy's mouth though, and it only took her half a second to figure out what it could be used for (she might have anger problems, but that doesn't make her any less smart). Sparks shot across the galvantula's back, the string attaching the trapped bronzor to the pissed-off electric spider cackled with electricity, and Han Tang light up like a christmas tree. It was quite spectacular, really, and when the conducting string finally fried off from the heat, Han Tang was obviously worse for wear.

The bronzor viewed the situation calmly. Calling the help of ancestors seemed like a pretty good choice here, yes.... Its slit-like eyes glowing purple, many ancient spirits who just wanted a good nap, goddamn it, awoke and broke through the surface of the arena with a vengeance. Pulling chunks of the arena with them, the spirits, glowing purple with power, proceeded to beat the crap out of Dorothy, who was the first they set their sights on, then poofed back into non-existence after their job was over.

Being pelted by rocks hurt. Especially if the rocks contain very pissed off ancient spirits. The pain soon got too much to bear, and, even more pissed off than before, Dorothy lashed out at her opponent, trying to scratch its body with her flailing. It didn't do much damage though, for Han Tang's metallic body withstood the attack with barely a dent, and the bronzor replied by sending another wave of rocks after Dorothy.

A lot of pain later, Dorothy was lying in a little heap of pissed-off-ness. Screaming bloody murder, the galvantula spat out another ball of sticky threads, which instantly wrapped themselves around Han Tang. The referee shaded its eyes with its claws as the battlefield lit up with electricity, and then purple energy.

Seriously though, the spirits were getting tired of this. One of Han Tang's ancestors made a mental not to itself to haunt the bronzor's trainer for the rest of her life as it pelted Dorothy, who was still trying to fry Han Tang to death, with rocks.

There was a sudden "poof", and the ancient spirits sank back into the arena, happy that they could finally take their afternoon nap. A slightly confused hippowdon stood where Han Tang once floated, and a very pissed off psychic blob thing floated where Dorothy was. There was a second of silence as the two transformed pokemon stared at each other, then a burst of energy suddenly swept out from the sand hippo, bringing with it the sand leaking out of the hippowdon's back. The silence was soon muffled with the sound of a heavy sandstorm and the referee choking, but Dorothy didn't seem to be affected. In fact, she looked even more murderous than ever.

The Second Anomaly

Perhaps simply to announce the appearance of a new ref, an empty bottle of diet coke pops into existence in between the two pokemon. Han Tang and Dorothy both stare in quiet confusion at the coke bottle, their sense of what is weird slowly being ripped apart. The coke bottle just sits there, being whipped around by the sand, taunting them.

Dorothy turns her focus from the bottle, realizing it is of no importance. Han Tang is important, though, as is all this sand! Her overcoat protects her, but she still doesn't like it. Who does like sand? No one, right? Except that stupid hippowdon, but probably when it goes to the beach it changes its mind when that send gets all up in its private areas. Stupid, stupid sand. Dorothy raises her arms and does a little jig, praising the lords of this crazy, crazy arena, and slowly the sand stops flowing; it seems to warp back into Han Tang's body, and there it stays, corked up. And then a rapid flow of rain explodes from the newly-formed rainclouds, turning the gathered dust on the arena's floor to mud. Han Tang stomps her feet in bemusement, while Dorothy simply floats in her beckoned rain, unsure if that was the best move on her part.

Can't take it back now, though! Han Tang grins and with a push of her steady feet, she submerges herself in the forming mud. All too quickly she disappears belowground, leaving a rather paranoid Dorothy above. While Dorothy circles around trying to spot her opponent, she's struck silly as the hippowdown explodes from the earth below her. Dorothy shrieks in a mix of surprise and pain; god, that hurt! She holds her bottom where she was hit, trying to stop the pain somehow, while Han Tang giggles to herself. That was fun!

Dorothy scowls in fury. Goddamn that beast, attacking her from below of all places! Uhg. She closes her eyes and lets out a deep, echoing song, which somehow pierces Han Tang's ears in such a painful way that the hippowdown whimpers in pain and wishes she'd thought to stuff cotton in them. It feels almost like one of her eardrums is breaking, exploding inside her head; her whimpers grow louder and she nearly doesn't notice that Dorothy's singing has stopped.

She rubs her head in the mud, trying to rid herself of that sound. It keeps echoing in her head, over and over and over. Uhg. She raises her head and then her entire upper body, determined to get that sound out of her ears - and then she slams down hard. The ground explodes into life, rippling out towards the reuniclus; Dorothy stares in mixed fear and glee as the ripples near her and then pass harmlessly under her. She turns her gaze towards Han Tang, who stares back; that. Was. Ridiculous. She'd just wasted an earthquake, and it didn't even touch Dorothy. A devilish grin spreads on Dorothy's face; that was just too perfect.

Dorothy continues grinning as a few orbs spread from her cell, growing bright and brown. She flings them towards Han Tang, and they pierce the hippowdown's equally brown skin; Han Tang grimaces in pain, but the orbs don't seem too painful. They do leave slight dark spots, but that's it.

This leaves Han Tang determined to prove that she can hit that stupid levitating thing. She runs forward and pushes herself up, slamming the reuniclas with a heavy foot. Dorothy's twirled around by the impact, but she actually doesn't seem to be pained by it, simply knocked off balance; Han Tang lands heavily in the mud, sending splashes all over herself, and looks a tad disappointed. Perhaps she should have tried something else...?

Either way, there's no time now. Both pokemon are enveloped in a bright white light as the round ends and their evolution begins. Han Tang shrinks to nearly twice her size within seconds, growing upright to stand on two feet; her forearms grow long, her spine explodes out into a tail - and at the tip, a flame bursts to life. The white light fades and there she stands, a charmeleon.

Across from her, Dorothy barely changes size at all - mostly she changes from a very round shape to a very long shape. In fact she forms into just a snake-like form with a few fins before the light fades, leaving her still levitating in the air - and reveals her to be an eelektrik. She takes a moment to appreciate her new form, still immune to those earthquakes, and now grateful that she'd called forth the rain. Because Han Tang really isn't liking it.
