If Smog's first hypnosis misses: Start off with a Taunt, and since now he won't be doing much on the second action, use that opportunity to try a Hypnosis. If that works, finish with Dream Eater (health); if it doesn't, forget about trying to put him to sleep and just use Psychic.

If Smog's first hypnosis hits: Sleep Talk if you're asleep, and Psychic if you're awake.

As far as things in this particular league go, the chosen battlefield is fairly tame and plain. The wide expanse of grass stretches on as far as the eye can see, and a small circle of tree provides some shade from the glare of the sun. A couple of Lotad paddle about happily in the small pond, playfully splashing each other and hopping across the lillypads. They quickly freeze up however, when a strong wind suddenly begins to batter the area, and the sound of powerful wing-beats can be heard.

The wild Pokémon give squeaks of alarm as the imposing figure of an Aerodactyl looms overhead, preparing to land in their secluded little haven. They both frantically scuttle off as the great beast descends, landing deftly on the clearing as its trainer hops off.

The remaining two trainers arrive in a less showy-off fashion than the referee, and just calmly make their way through the cluster of trees to take their places at each end of the clearing. When the toothy Aerodactyl is returned to the confines of his Pokéball, both battlers unleash their choice of Pokémon. Clearpikmin sends out Smog the leering Gastly, while Zapi chooses Wally, the delicate looking Ralts.

The Gastly gives a menacing hiss as he sets his eyes on his opponent, and Wally stares back, trying not to appear nervous. Smog's gaseous form looks faint and translucent in the daylight, but it doesn't make him less creepy looking as far as Wally is concerned. As Byrus raises the flag to signal the start of the match, both trainers call out their commands to their waiting Pokémon.

Round one

Smog is the first to move, and he quickly swoops down towards Wally, a wide, vampiric grin on his face. His white eyes glow a deep, blood-red, and he hisses at his foe as he sends the waves of hypnotic suggestion flowing towards him.
Wally can’t help but find the ghost’s intense glare terrifying… but also strangely fascinating. He finds himself staring into Smog’s wide eyes, being pulled deeper and deeper into the trance. However, just when Smog thinks he's finally got the Ralts in his grasp, Wally abruptly turns away, shaking his head and blinking rapidly as he tries to snap out of his daze.

Smog gives a hiss of annoyance and tries again to persuade Wally to look at him. Unfortunately, Wally has caught on to the trick, and he stubbornly keeps his eyes averted from the hypnotizing glow. Smog quickly grows frustrated with his lack of success, and his eyes dim back to their blank, white state as he scowls and grumbles to himself.
His mood doesn’t improve when Wally recovers from his shock and starts to taunt him about his poor luck. The Ralts bursts into laughter, mocking the ghost's poor hypnosis technique in an irritating, sing-song voice, all while making faces at him. Smog’s aura flares up in agitation, and he glares daggers at Wally, but he does make an effort to ignore the Ralts’ immature taunts.
Unfortunately, the psychic is pretty relentless, and he smugly goes on and on about how he could pull off a much better hypnosis. He’s pretty confident that he could even lure a Shuppet off to sleep.

Finally, Smog rises to the bait, completely sick of Wally’s irritating voice and general smugness. He gives a furious, ghostly wail, startling Wally out of his tirade, and then streams forward, his fangs bared and his eyes wide and wild with anger.
None of his current orders include any offensive commands, but the Gastly doesn’t care; he’s determined to pummel that insolent Ralts no matter what.
He recklessly tackles Wally down and thrashes about madly, heedless of his own safety. Wally gives a cry of surprise at Smog’s viciousness, and he frantically tries to bat him away. Much to his frustration, he can only seem to get at the shimmering aura of poison surrounding Smog, and his arms fall uselessly through the ethereal mist. He does manage to land a few weak hits on Smog’s spherical body, but it does little to ward the furious ghoul off.

Smog does eventually relent however, and he drifts backwards, still seething and already planning his next attack.
Wally is relieved at the brief lull, and he takes the time to quickly inspect his wounds, but he’s relieved to see there doesn’t appear to be any visible damage. Physical attacks obviously aren’t the ghost’s forte.

Now it's time to show he wasn’t just all talk about that hypnosis brag. He cautiously approaches the fuming Gastly, then plucks up his courage and looks the enraged ghost straight in the eyes. Smog bares his fangs and glares back at him, but he suddenly freezes as he sees Wally’s eyes glowing a bright red. Wally slowly waves his stubby hands rhythmically from side to side, and Smog gives an enraged hiss as he struggles to tear his gaze away. He’s all too familiar with this move, and the fact that Wally is using it against him enrages him even further.
Unfortunately for Smog, Wally has better luck, and the ghost finds himself unable to look away from the bright red glare of Wally’s eyes. He feels his eyelids begin to droop, until…

Wally gives a silent cheer as he sees Smog’s eyes close, and he allows himself to relax a little. The ghost lets out a raspy snore and drifts downwards, before stopping to float limply near the ground.
Wally closes his eyes and concentrates, and when he opens them again, they’re glowing with a soft, pink light. He reaches out towards Smog’s mind with his psychic powers, and easily manages to get a hold of the poison’s type strange mind. He cringes a little as he delves into Smog’s dreams; he’s obviously still enraged, and he’s thinking about some rather violent things he wants to do to a certain Ralts. Nevertheless, Wally manages to nab Smog’s dream, converting it into a nourishing snack for himself. The nasty images of the dream begin to flicker and distort as Wally finishes the extraction, and he takes that as his cue to release his mental hold.

When Wally returns to the waking world, he blinks and shakes his head, then looks over at his dozing opponent. Smog’s sleeping face looks troubled and angry, and he’s twisting fitfully in the air.

Round two

Wally studies the sleeping ghost carefully as he writhes about in the air. He's a little nervous about venturing into the angry spirit's mind again, but the temptation of a delicious energy boost is too great for him to ignore. His eyes begin to glow with the familiar pink light, and he eagerly reaches out towards Smog’s dreams. He exercises some caution as he delves into the enraged ghost’s mind, but the angry thoughts appear to be absent this time; replaced instead by muddled and distorted images that he can’t make out. He supposes that he wrecked quite a bit more damage than he originally thought. Nevertheless, he deftly plucks at the threads of Smog’s dream, converting them into energy for himself.

When Wally exits Smog’s dream, he’s a little perturbed to see how violently the ghost is tossing and turning. His purple aura is clearly visible now, even in the light, and it's flaring up erratically. There’s no way he can stay asleep for long, so he’s going to have to take his chance while he can. Wally begins to delve into Smog’s dream for the third time, treading as carefully as he can and trying not to be too reckless. The dreamscape of the ghost's mind is even more badly distorted than before, so it's no wonder he’s sleeping so badly, and Wally isn’t sure where he should even start in this mess. Eventually, he finds a suitable thread to latch onto, and he converts it into energy for himself, enjoying the rush of energy it brings.

When Wally returns to the waking world this time, Smog is wide awake and enraged. He raises shakily into the air again, glaring daggers at Wally with his wide, blank eyes. Wally backs away nervously as Smog advances on him, holding up his arms in a feeble attempt to defend himself. Smog snarls viciously, and his poisonous aura begins to expand outwards as he generates a mass of shadowy energy, forming it into a large, jagged sphere. He hurls the blob at Wally, and it strikes him forcefully on the chest, where it explodes in a burning spray of darkness.
Wally shrieks as the shadows burn into his skin, searing him badly and leaving behind an ugly blackened mark. He shakily turns to look at it, and grimaces as he sees the results. It's stinging horribly, and Wally silently curses the ghost as he gingerly raises to his feet.

Smog continues to snarl and mutter to himself as he sees the Ralts try to recover from his vicious attack. The Gastly is certainly pleased to have been able to vent, but he won't be satisfied until he can follow it up.
Wally gives a terrified squeak as he sees the livid ghost looming over him, ready to send another shadowy orb hurtling his way. Smog hisses and bares his fangs, then nudges forth another black, jagged sphere, blasting the Ralts on the same spot.
Wally gives another cry of pain as the burning blackness further irritates his wound, and he falls to the ground, clutching his chest. He cringes as he pulls himself back to his feet, trying not to lose his nerve. His eyes glow a bright purple, and he waves his stubby hands about, following his own eternal rhythm. His purple aura gradually extends out to the puzzled looking Smog, then encases him in the same eerie glow. With that done, Wally waves his hands about wildly, and Smog gives a screech of pain as he is hurled face-first into the ground over and over.
When Wally finally releases Smog from his grip, the ghost is looking very dazed and confused. He gives a groan of pain as he floats up a little higher, his aura looking much less vivid and somewhat diminished.

- Forgetting a taunt isn't that easy. Although, if you used something like calm mind beforehand, it would probably make you less susceptible to the effects of taunt.
- Taunt comes back into effect when a Pokémon wakes up, so it wore off at the end of the third action.
- Smog woke up after the second dream eater.
- clearpikmin attacks first.​

okay, try to hypnotize him, then dream eat health then energy. if he uses hypnosis, go and make a shadow ball in your dreams and hit him with it. if he uses taunt, shadow ball.

Huh, not much we can do about that first hypnosis, so...*prays it misses*

If it does miss, start off with Imprison, which should be better than Taunt in this situation, yes? Then Calm Mind, then Psychic.

But if it hits, Sleep Talk if you're asleep, hopefully something good wil happen. If you're awake, try Calm Mind.

Round three

Smog’s wide eyes begin to glow a familiar blood-red, and he drifts down closer to Wally, determined to lock eyes with him. Wally nervously backs away, trying to remember exactly what he did last time to try and throw the ghoul off… unfortunately, while he’s frantically trying to recollect his thoughts, Smog takes the opportunity to amp up the waves of hypnotic suggestion, gradually drawing Wally’s gaze towards his own. Wally blinks rapidly and struggles to turn his head, but the bright, eerie glow of Smog’s eyes seems impossible to look away from.

Smog grins widely as Wally thumps to the ground with a loud snore, and he’s doubly pleased that he finally managed to give the Ralts a taste of his own medicine. However, Wally doesn’t appear to be sleeping soundly; he’s muttering and tossing about fitfully in his sleep.
Smog cautiously floats back a little as the sleeping Ralts jolts to his feet, still muttering incomprehensibly to himself. Eventually however, the gibberish he’s spouting seems to make a little more sense. Smog strains to hear Wally’s mumbling, and he vaguely recognises it as the words to a protective spell of some sort.
Sure enough, a soft pink light begins to swirl around Wally, dancing about in an intricate pattern. It dims down slightly as it settles around him, but it doesn't look any less garish as far as Smog is concerned.

Smog looks at the dancing lights in disgust, and wastes no time in carrying out his own plans. His eyes glow with a pink light as he taps into his psychic abilities, and he reaches out at the mind of his sleeping foe. As he enters the dreamscape, he pays little attention to the nature of his foe’s thoughts, as he’s certainly not interested in whatever boring things psychic types waste their time with. He snaps and tears at the strands of thoughts, trying to find a suitable piece to draw from. It proves difficult, as the mind of a psychic type is certainly more prepared for this kind of attack, but he eventually manages to nab a suitable dream to convert into energy.

As he exits Wally’s mind, he can’t help but feel a little disappointed with the small boost he received; he was really hoping to wreck more damage than that, but he barely made a dent. He quickly snaps back to attention however, as the Ralts begins muttering frantically to himself again, tossing and turning restlessly.
Smog hisses at him as Wally rises up, waving his hands about and moving forward shakily. Particles of light begin to form between his moving hands, slowing forming a light blue orb of energy. Wally gives a sleepy snort, then roughly pushes the orb forward, where it streams towards his foe in a bright blue jet. Unfortunately for Wally, his attack passes uselessly through his spectral opponent, and only succeeds in dislodging some leaves from a nearby tree.

Smog’s wary look is quickly replaced by a wide, nasty grin, and he allows himself to relax a little. He eagerly zooms forward again, and his eyes glow with the same pink light as he prepares to draw upon more of his opponent’s life force. He wrecks as much havoc as he can while he's in Wally's dream, but it doesn't seem to amount to much, which only serves to increase Smog's frustration. Nevertheless, he tries to savour the little boost he receives this time, as he certainly needs it.

When he looks up again, he sees Wally push himself up for the third time, waving his arms about as he takes a few dodgy steps forward. Smog snickers a little as he watches Wally flail about, but it quickly becomes obvious that there’s a purpose behind his actions. A shimmering wall of bright, golden energy slowly flickers into life in front of him, encasing the Ralts in its warm glow. Smog scowls and hisses angrily at the bright light, slowly allowing himself to drift closer of the shade of the trees.

Anyway, you're quite low on energy, so how about just chilling while you're asleep (I'm pretty sure you can do that but correct me if I'm wrong)? Unless it's the last action and you're still asleep, in which case Sleep Talk again.

As soon as you wake up, Imprison. If you're still awake, chill if you haven't already done so this round, then Psychic.

Round four

Smog gives a snarling cough, and his poisonous aura grows more vivid as he begins to generate a potent mix of toxins. He then spits out the glob of purple venom at his foe, but his aim is slightly off, and the poison splashes right next to Wally with a nasty hiss. Smog watches the poison eat away at the grass, looking dumbfounded and horribly embarrassed at missing such an easy target. Lucky for him, Wally remains dozing for the moment, comfortably curled up and relaxing.

Smog grumbles to himself as he begins to form another shadowy orb to hurl at his foe, determined not to mess this up. He nudges the jagged sphere forward with an angry hiss, and it easily slips through the golden barrier to collide with the Ralts in a dark display of ghostly energy. The impact finally causes Wally to awaken with a startled and sleepy yell, and he frantically flails about, blinking rapidly as he struggles to regain his bearings.

Wally winces and rubs his eyes, then gingerly gets to his feet, trying to ignore the stinging pain. When he’s rubbed the sleep from his eyes, he quickly turns his attention to the flickering barrier in front of him, and struggles to stabilize it. He can’t remember conjuring up this thing, but there’s no point letting it go to waste. Once the barrier has become solid and sturdy again, Wally nervously looks up at the leering Ghastly overhead, then begins to concentrate on his next move. His eyes begin to glow a faint red, and he mutters the words to an ancient sealing spell that should hopefully limit Smog’s options. A red aura extends outwards from his body, encasing the puzzled ghost in a faint light. Smog growls as he feels his mind being messed with; he’s pretty sure he’s forgetting something now…

The ghost has no intentions of dwelling on it for long though. He can recall his next command clearly enough, and that’s what matters most right now. He bares his fangs in a snarl, then sends another ragged orb of shadowy matter zigzagging towards Wally, blasting him back in another display of black and purple. Wally gives a faint squeak of pain as the all too familiar sting of the spectral attack bites into him again, leaving him looking very unsteady on his feet. He grimaces, then responds by surrounding the ghost in another aura of psychic energy, then slams him viciously and repeatedly into the ground, drawing a series of frustrated wails from the disgruntled spook.
As Wally releases Smog from his mental hold, the intricate pattern swirling around him fades away. Wally can't help but feel a little dismayed at that, as he certainly could do with a little luck at the moment.

Round five

Smog grumbles to himself as he slowly raises up again, looking somewhat dizzy from getting tossed about. Once he's regained his bearings, he begins to form another shadow ball to pelt the Ralts with, and he viciously pushes it on his zigzagging path. Wally cringes as the all too familiar orb blasts into him, burning him with spectral energy. This is too much for him to handle; he definitely needs to do something about this onslaught...

Looking somewhat grim, Wally raises his hands and begins to concentrate, and the golden barrier in front of him begins to ripple and distort as a second barrier begins to form behind it. The second one is a dark purple colour, and it settles behind the first, shielding the Ralts behind an even more colourful display.

Smog just glowers at the two shining shields, wishing he could make that horrible light disappear. He hesitantly drifts out of the shadows, then begins to form yet another shadow ball to punish the psychic type with. He sends it towards Wally again, but this time, the shadowy orb noticeably slows down as it reaches the second glittering barrier, and it even diminishes in size. Nevertheless, Wally still gives another startled squeak as it blasts him again, leaving him feeling even more weak and shaky.

He winces and looks at the many blackened marks across his body, and silently curses the Gastly for being so relentless. He is getting seriously sick of that move. In fact, he’s pretty sure that if he ever sees it again, whether it be from friend or foe, he’s going to scream. However, his next commands are pretty clear: he really needs to settle down here. With a sigh, the hurt and weary Ralts does just that; he settles down on the grass and slips into a meditative trance.

The sight of Wally sitting there and doing nothing just seems to enrage Smog. He really doesn't appreciate being ignored. The ghost gives an angry howl and sets about firing off yet another shadowy projectile. However, he's finding increasingly difficult to gather up the ghostly energy he needs, and the amount of effort it takes to finally create the spectral orb is pretty troubling. Smog growls as he feels his poisonous aura beginning to grow faint, and even his gaseous body is losing its spherical shape. He just looks like a formless, translucent ink blot with eyes and a gaping, fang-filled mouth. It's a sure indicator that he hasn't got much fight left in him, but the stubborn ghost is positive he can manage just one last shot. He hisses menacingly, trying to expand his wispy aura (with little success), then sends the last shadow ball zigzagging towards the chilled out Ralts.

The shadow ball slows down and loses momentum as it passes through Wally's protective shield, but even the weakened shadow ball is enough to catch Wally's attention. His eyes snap open again and he gives a feeble cry of pain as more of the shadowy matter burns into him. He takes a deep breath, and tries to ignore the stinging pain plaguing him, then attempts to keep calm and carry on. He slips into his meditative trance again, focusing on honing both his attacking and defending skills. Eventually, he feels himself growing calmer and more clear-headed, though it doesn't stop the persistent pangs of pain from his wounds.
