Round six

As Sabriel glares over at her foe from behind the curtain of sand, Boom slowly begins to slither backwards. She curls herself up tight and sighs, more than willing to take a short break. Let that stupid Poochyena fight it out in the sand for a while. Sabriel snarls, heedless of the flying grit that stings her mouth, then squeezes her eyes shut as she tries to concentrate. A blackened aura begins to shimmer around her small form, and inky tendrils of darkness begin to snake outwards. Sabriel summons up the most evil, nasty thoughts she can muster, which isn’t a difficult feat considering the mood she’s in, then unleashes them in an icy wave of dark energy. Boom’s eyes snap open as she hears the unnatural whispering noise of the approaching blackness, and she gives an angry roar of pain as the dark pulse engulfs her in its freezing grip.

Boom growls, and gives herself a good shake to try and clear her head. Her craggy hide is still tingling unpleasantly, but she’s more than ready to make Sabriel pay for her actions. The Onix opens her jagged maw in another deafening roar, and the sand immediately begins to whirl upwards again to form a stinging twister. Sabriel groans as she sees the sand tomb making its way towards her, but she has no better luck avoiding it. It snatches her up into its gritty prison of sand, and Sabriel gives a chorus of pained yelps as the renewed twister bites at her already tender skin.

Boom gives a satisfied smirk, then slowly moves herself back a bit as she attempts to get comfortable. She’s interrupted however, as she suddenly hears Sabriel’s harsh laughter ringing out from within the whirling twister of sand. Boom’s grin fades a little as she peers over at the blurry shape of her foe, completely perplexed as to why she would be laughing. As she moves closer, she hears Sabriel rattling off a tirade of jabs; “Ha! Should have figured you would repeat the same cowardly tactic! Rock types aren’t known for their originality or intelligence right?” Boom flares up at once, outraged at the tiny mutt’s insolence. How dare she! The Onix rumbles forward, her eyes wild and her heavy tail lashing in agitation. Upon hearing her opponent’s charge, Sabriel quickly shuts up, and crouches down low against the ground, gritting her teeth as she struggles not to loose her nerve.

When she looks up again, she can see the blurry, towering shape of Boom looming over her. Before she can react, Boom lashes out with her tail and wraps it around the startled Poochyena, before quickly squeezing tight. Sabriel gives a startled gasp and paws helplessly against Boom's tough skin, struggling not to fall into blind panic. She takes several hitching breaths, and icy vapour puffs out from her jaws as she tries desperately to retaliate. Boom pays little attention to the danger; she's too focused on squeezing the life out of that mouthy mutt. Sabriel's eyes are wide as she squirms madly in Boom's grip, trying to twist around to get the right angle for her attack. She gives a strangled sounding cry, then chomps down with her ice-coated fangs, sinking her teeth into Boom's diamond hide. Boom's eyes widen, and she gives a bellow of pain as she feels the hated cold, but she stubbornly refuses to relinquish her grip. As the relentless twister and sandstorm rage on, Sabriel sags down lifelessly in Boom's coils, feeling her strength slowly draining away.

Round seven

Sabriel gives a low whine as she squirms weakly against her bindings, and scratches desperately at Boom's rocky hide. Boom glares down at the tiny creature caught in her grip, her wide eyes filled with rage. She opens her rocky maw wide, and rears back as she prepares to land the finishing blow. Although beaten and bruised, Sabriel isn't completely unprepared. The Poochyena has already managed to worm herself into the right position to deliver one last strike, and she does just that. She wrenches her head back, then suddenly sinks her blackened fangs into Boom's coils with a hoarse snarl, her body simmering with an aura of dark energy. Boom gives a tremendous roar of pain and anger, then abruptly jolts forward like a striking snake, sinking her gravelly fangs into her tiny captive.

Sabriel releases her hold as soon as she is struck, and she gives a muffled woof as she slumps down again with a weak groan. With a low growl, Boom loosens her coils and relinquishes her grip on her tiny foe, allowing her to slide limply onto the battered floor. With no target left to pester, the twisting funnel of sand around her slowly begins to wind down again, though the sandstorm around it continues to rage.

As Sabriel is zapped back into the safety of her Pokéball, ole_schooler swiftly sends out Ace the Herdier to take her place. Ace gives a chorus of enthusiastic barks as she materializes on the field, but they quickly die off as she feels the sand pelting against her fur. She gives a gruff growl and shuffles about, narrowing her eyes as she tries to get used to the poor visibility.

Boom glares sullenly at her through the earthy haze, and Ace backs away warily as she spots the towering shape.

Round eight

Ace cringes a little as the raging sand unpleasantly ruffles her fur, then gives a loud, sharp bark at the towering beast above her. Boom grunts, slowly lowering her head to peer down at her tiny foe, then suddenly responds with a deafening bellow. Ace yelps and cowers down, her ears flattening against her skull as she tries to block out the horrendous sound. Boom's piercing call rattles the whole church to its very foundations, and when she finally trails off, Ace isn't the only one left quivering from the noise.

Ace slowly raises her head again, her bravado having noticeably faded a little. She squints past the haze of sand, then reluctantly opens her jaws to form a swirling mass of ghostly energy. Ace's aim is a little shaky from the rattling she received, but the shadowy orb manages to find its mark nevertheless, and Boom gives a grating growl as it blasts into her. The spray of black and purple matter burns painfully into her toughened armour, trying its best to bite through her steel coating.

Boom irritably shakes her tail as she tries to dispel the horrible burning sensation, then bares her jagged fangs in a snarl. She suddenly streams forward with a growing roar, her huge tail lashing the floor wildly. Assorted debris goes flying in her wake, and Ace is sent jolting up and down from the Onix's thunderous advance. Boom rears up just before she reaches Ace, then jabs her tail forward, dealing the Herdier a heavy blow to her chest.

Ace gives a gasp as she is sent hurtling back, her chest aching from the sudden, sharp strike. She groans and staggers back, panting heavily as she tries to regain her breath. After a few moments, she tentatively opens her jaws again, trying to ignore the stray grains of sand that get in her mouth, and another glob of shadowy energy slowly starts to form. With a muffled woof, she sends the second shadow ball careening towards Boom, catching her on her crested head.

Boom's eyes widen as a sudden sharp and burning pain sears her crest, and she furiously shakes her head, feeling panicked and angry. The burning pain gradually passes again, but Boom isn't feeling much better for it. She lowers her head and glares at Ace venomously as she grinds her teeth in pain and frustration. She can feel her strength fading with each strike, but she isn't ready to throw the towel in just yet. She takes a deep breath, then charges towards Ace again, dealing another punishing blow with her heavy tail.

Ace is sent flying back even further than before, and lands on the floor with a harsh thump and a muffled yelp. After a few moments of twitching and whimpering, Ace takes several hitching breaths, then gingerly gets back up. She pads forward with a slight limp, looking up at Boom darkly, and the familiar mass of ghostly energy begins to swirl into life between her teeth. As the black and purple strands begin to flow from her jaws, Ace quickly sends it hurtling on its way. Boom's grunt of pain sounds much weaker and halfhearted this time, and she squeezes her eyes shut as the blackened strands burn into her rocky hide. As her eyes slowly open again, she notices that her vision is beginning to blur, and every small movement seems to take a gargantuan amount of effort. She gives a rattling sigh as she slithers forward, straining to keep her head up so as not to give away how much pain she's in.

Boom winces as she pulls her body upright again, then looks down grimly at her opponent as she prepares to go out with a literal bang. She closes her eyes and coils herself up tight, then begins to concentrate on building up the mass of volatile energy. Ace growls warily and backs away slightly, watching intently as the Onix's rocky hide begins to glow brighter and brighter. The burning light rapidly grows in intensity, shining brightly through the weakening haze of sand. Boom gives a low, rumbling bellow as the pressure begins to build, and her form begins to quiver as the unstable energy rapidly reaches its peak. Ace gives a sharp bark and bounces about nervously as she feels the floor beneath her paws begin to rumble. She's not entirely sure what that Onix is playing at, but she definitely doesn't like it. Ace bares her fangs and presses forward, determined to finish Boom off before she can unleash whatever it is she's started. Unfortunately, the Herdier reacts just a little too late; Boom lives up to her name by sending out a tremendous shock wave of pure energy with one huge and magnificent BOOM. Ace lets out a horrified yelp as she is flung bodily backwards by the impact, but her cries are quickly drowned out by the tremendous noise. The row of pews explode in a shower of splinters as the explosion rips through them, and the whole church noticeably trembles from the force.

When the smoke clears, Boom is left lying curled up and motionless, while Ace is left twitching whimpering opposite her.

Alright, I'll send out Blood on Fire. :]

Focus Punch whenever non-offensive moves are used. If they attack you, Double Kick instead. If they're protect/detecting Bulk Up, and if they have clones spread out the double kick (obviously don't use focus punch), but only on the last two actions; on the first action if they set up clones, just focus punch. If they go underground, follow them down and use whatever attack you'd use (since they're not attacking you presumably it'd be focus punch). Also, if they try to yawn, close your eyes.

Focus Punch / Double Kick / Bulk Up x3

Well frak. This does not bode well. How in the seven layers of hell did the damage cap not get hit during all that? Anyway, orders. Yawn the monkey to sleep, start a Rest of your own, then Chill during your nappy naps. This gives him a free action next round but whatever. I'm stalling now.

As Boom disappears back into her Pokéball, the church suddenly seems a lot bigger now that her immense form is no longer occupying it. Ace winces and stretches out her tortured limbs, peering around blearily at the sand-coated expanse of the building.

As Ace waits anxiously, pathos quickly lobs another pokéball onto the cracked tiles, and the fiery form of a Chimchar materializes in the midst of the dwindling sandstorm. Blood on fire quickly raises his hands to shield his face from the irritating flecks of grit, and pulls his bulky yellow helmet down further over his face. Round seven

Ace looks over grumpily at her new opponent, and slowly pads towards him. The sandstorm has weakened considerably, much to her relief, but the gritty haze still proves bothersome. Blood eyes her warily as she approaches, and he holds up his fists as his tail flame flares up with a crackle of sparks. Ace cringes a little at the sudden burst of fire, her tail and ears drooping weakly. When she regains her nerve, she holds her head up and opens her jaws wide, letting out a loud yawn. Blood is quick to react however; he shuts his eyes and turns his head away, much to Ace’s continued annoyance. Worse still, some of the stray grit catches in her mouth, leaving her coughing and sputtering. Blood opens his eyes again when he hears the noise, then crouches down and grimly prepares himself. A sudden aura of blazing energy surrounds him, shimmering through the veil of sand like a fiery mirage. Ace winces and backs away as she sees it, but Blood abruptly comes barreling towards her, his fists flailing wildly as he delivers a vicious punch to her chest.

As Ace reels back, yelping and howling, the fury of the sandstorm around her slowly subsides. Blood gives a sigh of relief and wipes away the remaining grit in her eyes, then slowly closes in on her injured foe. Ace quivers as she sees the Chimchar approach, and limps backwards as she tries to regroup. She flops onto the cracked ground with a feeble groan, and Blood bares his teeth as he closes in to take advantage. He stops short however, when he sees a light blue glow slowly illuminate the Herdier's battered body, and gives a snarl of anger as he realizes what she's up to. Ace gives a weary sigh as she closes her eyes, as the soothing blue glow washes over her ragged coat, cleansing away the blood and bruises, and leaving her looking fresh and restored.

Blood on fire has no intentions of taking this lying down however. His tail flame flares up wildly as he clenches his fist and takes the same fighting stance as before. A simmering amber aura slowly begins to hiss and crackle around him, in stark contrast to Ace's calm blue aura. He narrows his eyes and concentrates on the immobile Herdier, until the wild array of energy reaches its peak. With a fierce howl, Blood flings himself forward, his flaming fists outstretched to deliver another punishing strike. He connects squarely with Ace's chest, sending her skidding across the debris like a rag-doll. Ace gives a sleepy, muffled woof of pain as she lands roughly on the floor, and she twitches and whimpers in her sleep.

Blood glares over triumphantly at Ace, then slumps over on the ground as he attempts to catch his breath. Focus punch is a tiring technique, and the exertion has temporarily reduced his tail-flame to a simmering ember. While Blood is left doubled over and panting, Ace gives a small groan, then shifts in her sleep as she tries to get a more comfortable position. Ever alert, Blood quickly lifts his head up as he hears the movement, then edges towards his vulnerable foe.

Taking a deep breath, Blood draws back his fist for the third time, and another aura slowly begins to crackle to life around him. As Ace snoozes, the flickering energy around Blood gradually grows in strength again, and the Chimchar grits his teeth as he strains to control the wild attack. Finally, he pounces forward with a screech, delivering another swift and decisive blow to Ace's chest. The Herdier is sent flying limply across the church, striking her head against some scattered rubble. She lands in a messy heap of matted fur, giving a snoring groan of pain.

Round eight

As the considerably battered looking Ace continues to snooze, Blood on Fire hops nimbly over the wreckage, his tail flame slowly crackling back to life. He draws back his fist when he reaches his opponent, then gives a low growl as the amber aura of powerful fighting energy flares up around him for the fourth time. As if aware of the impending danger, Ace whimpers in her sleep and twists around uncomfortably, her ears and nose twitching. Eventually, she seems to slump down and relax a little, but Blood is quick to ruin her moment of rest. With a loud screech, Blood slams his fiery fist forward, striking Ace with another tremendous punch. Ace is left further battered by the impact, and she rolls back behind another mound of wreckage.

Ace blinks her eyes rapidly, then wearily struggles to stand up. She eventually manages to get herself upright, but her legs are noticeably quivering, and she looks like a beaten down wreck. She takes a shaky step forward, her wary gaze trained on her approaching opponent, then gives a low growl. Even with the anger and pain behind it, the noise still sounds weak and faded, and does nothing to intimidate the smirking Chimchar. Nevertheless, Ace is determined to prove that she isn't out just yet, and with one last burst of energy, she manages to force herself to get moving. Blood freezes in place as Ace gives a cracked sounding bark and rushes forward, wincing from the exertion. Blood looks around uncertainly, then hastily begins to cheer her on with false bravado, clapping his hands and wearing a strained smile. Wow! That was just incredible. He certainly would like to see more of that awesome—

Blood is abruptly cut off as Ace suddenly charges into a chunk of debris and sends it hurtling towards him. Her sudden show of strength catches Blood entirely off guard, and he realizes with a nasty jolt that she's probably got the wrong message from his little charade too. He gives a muffled gasp as the jagged and heavy shard comes crashing into him, knocking him clean off his feet and sending him tumbling backwards. Ace gives a feeble wag of her tail as she watches her foe fall, and has little trouble deciding what technique she's going to use next.

Scowling and rubbing his head, Blood gets to his feet again. His rocky helmet has been dislodged from the fall, but he's quick to snatch it up again and jam it firmly on his head. He then leaps forward, bouncing off the various obstacles as he heads straight for the limping Herdier. Ace's ears droop as she sees Blood with his fists outstretched, and she gives a howl of pain as he delivers three swift punches right to her chest. Groaning and shaking all over, Ace staggers back from Blood's flailing fists and takes shelter behind another shard of broken statue. She nudges it weakly with her muzzle, but it's too heavy to shift, so she desperately makes her way to the next piece. Luckily, it's suitable enough, and she bashes into to it with a sudden spurt of strength, heaving it towards Blood to catch him in the chest. Blood gives an enraged screech as the projectile strikes him, which brings a small smile to the beaten down Herdier's face.
