Superbird vs. Skyman

Make it rain with a Rain Dance first. Then, Chill on the next action, and end the round with Double Team for the max amount of clones you can make, but only AFTER she moves. If your body feels too locked up from paralysis to do your commands for that action, then Chill instead and push your actions back one.

Arena: Doctor Kaminko's Experimental Arena Number 11

The good doctor has staged several battles in other arenas (usually in Arena Number 44), but this time he decided to let his test subjects use this arena, due to the technology's high tolerance for electromagnetic signals. The gimmick here is the doctor's recent new device; we're testing it out for him, you see.

The device is over in the corner, protected by a one-way force field. Said device, which has yet to be named but has thus far been built as “Project Memory”, is rather special. It sends out a special electromagnetic wave, the effect of which is quite severe; it essentially resets the memory of someone caught in it for the duration of its effect. Now, this can give humans amnesia for a day or two (but that's why the battlers will be sitting outside watching through electromagnetic wave-proof glass), but its effect on Pokémon is quite different.

For the duration of the battle, the machine will send out its electromagnetic signal at both of the battlers. This signal will erase any moves and techniques from their memories, except for the ones they were born with.

The arena itself is quite straightforward, with no gimmicks.

Other: All pokémon participating can ONLY use moves that they had access to in the generation in which they were introduced. For instance, Croagunk can only use the moves it had in Generation IV, while something like Exeggutor can only use moves from Generation I (like no Seed Bomb or anything). This includes signature moves, which all have no effect for the entire battle, as well as signature attributes which were not there when the pokémon was born (e.g. blindness stays, but [example: Crazy Linoone's Death Cannon's Broadband High-Speed Internet Connection] has no effect).

Drilbud (F) <Iron Barbs>
Health: 95%

- Ready for revenge. Paralyzed (Moderate). Hidden Power Ground-typed.

A hot sun pounds down on the Pokémon, sweeping over the barren landscape with no signs of stopping. One of the battlers hopelessly tries to suck any remaining moisture from the ground, to no avail. A lone tumbleweed blows across the arena, emphasizing – wait, wrong battle, the referee thinks to himself. Still, the description is apt, with the silver cube at the highest point of the sphere clunking out relentless heat and light. Drilbud and Pika pick themselves up, though, determined to actually do something, for what seems like the first time in a month.

The Pichu’s face lights up with delight; eager to turn this hellhole into paradise, he claps his hands and jumps into the air, twirling with vigor. He leaps from side to side, throwing sparks of electricity as if they were powder. Pika tap dances, and salsas, and ballroom dances (much harder than it sounds when by yourself), and eventually an azure light starts to solidify around him.

Drilbud is certainly content to watch this amalgamation of dance and keep to herself, at least for a while. She settles down, comfortably spinning as the machine’s lightbulb gradually dims. Pika finally lands on the cracked ground one last time, and his hands slam together in a clap as loud as thunder. When the Ferroseed snaps herself out of her healing trance, she feels the tiniest splatter of rain on her shell.

Now, this won’t do at all. As the drizzle around her matures into a full-blown storm, Drilbud wonders how in the world she’s going to manage to collect enough light to power a Solarbeam. Looking dejected, she draws herself up, glowing a grass-green, and fires a blindingly white and yellow light into the storm. The clouds rumble quietly, as if annoyed by the disturbance, and they discharge the beam back, cutting through the dark and damp air – but this time toward Pika, who has been dozing the battle away.

The Pichu’s certainly hurt, but nowhere near where he would be if the sun was bright and shining. Rather thankful for his trainer’s foresight, he assumes he’ll be right again, and politely gestures to Drilbud to continue. The Ferroseed seems content to just lie there, though, and soon Pika grows impatient. After what seems like an eternity, he jumps into action, only to have his muscles spasm again. He lies awkwardly on the ground; he sighs. Guess it’s another round of nothingness for him.

Whatever.

Arena Notes: It’s raining and pouring buckets from the weather generator (2 rounds left). The water level's also slowly increasing (currently at ~1 cm or just under 1/2 in. high, rising 1.25 cm per round).

Notes:
- Pika chilled for 8% action 3.
- Ugh. Late and feeling awkward and off and bleh. Sorry, guys. (will probably get more complaints from me about my quality of writing, ignore them if the reffing isn’t spectacularly bad or good)
- Skyman orders first.

It's dawning upon me that I'm screwed, so lets just wing it.

Thunderbolt all three times, unless you feel too paralyzed to move or you can't hit her, in which case Chill.

Drilbud has quite given up on the weather. It seems to change every other round anyways, so why bother? Pondering the mechanics of the arena, she whirls around absentmindedly, sending splashes of water outward. Pika has far less mundane things to think about, on the other hand, aching all over and tiring fast. His trainer isn’t much help, either, but he’s determined to prove them all wrong. To at least get Drilbud worn out enough for whoever’s up next, anyways. He musters a grin, shaking the rain from his fur.

Pika has jagged lines of electricity arcing over his body when the arena has turns back to its gloomy shade of gray. By the time Drilbud has collected enough strength to move, he’s already shot a zig-zagging line of yellow energy toward her, burning a path through the falling raindrops.

The Ferroseed is only mildly hurt by the impact, her metal shell perhaps a tad scorched. As the radiance of the beam fades, she replaces it with a dark void undulating around her. Suddenly, the aura expands, pushing outward; Pika backs away, alarmed. He stands there, waiting as splatters of rain slide down his face. Perhaps it’s only Pika’s imagination, but when Drilbud’s spikes halt their growth, he sees her smirk.

There’s not much he can do about the shell of brambles starting to grow over Drilbud, but Pika brushes that off. His cheeks spark once, briefly, and giving the Ferroseed no pause, he fires another bolt at her, jumping from raindrop to raindrop. Resigned, she lets the shock wash over her, showing no emotion.

Drilbud isn’t about to let it go, though. Her green-and-yellow eyes lock onto Pika’s bouncing figure, and slowly, the thorns covering her detach. Pika watches, fascinated, as they start to coalesce into a green sphere; how, he’s not sure, but at least it looks cool. The Ferroseed tilts forward ever so slightly, and abruptly the ball hurtles toward Pika, exploding with a sound that reminded him of a falling tree.

Not that he had much time to listen to it, anyways. Pika flies backward, slamming into the glass wall. Pushing off the ground, he picks a stray piece of grass from his fur, tossing it away. She’d pay for that, oh yes she would. He sets the sky aglow with a burst of light and heat, all rushing toward Drilbud.

The Ferroseed grimaces. Even though each attack did a miniscule amount of damage, they were certainly starting to take their toll. Probably should end this quickly, she thinks to herself, but she can’t help but savor the distressed look Pika gives her as she sends another bomb flying.

When Pika recovers, he notices Drilbud looking at the ground, or rather, pond, worriedly.

...Did the second Seed Bomb miss...?

Anyway, Drillbud, that seems to be working quite well for the time being. Let's keep doing that. Seed Bomb x3 unless your opponent is protecting or is otherwise unhittable, in which case Chill instead.

Seed Bomb/Chill x3

?? seed bomb is accuracy 100, it should never miss anymore.

also accuracy +4 doesn't actually exist, accuracy goes -6 to 0 according to AAG.

According to Negrek that ruling is no longer relevant now that it's actually possible to raise accuracy.

But now that I think about it, in addition to res's point, if I have +4 accuracy anyway it definitely shouldn't miss...

res: All attacks have a chance of missing unless otherwise noted (Aerial Ace, Faint Attack, etc). Unless I'm missing something, since you said "anymore"?

Superbird: ...I'll fix that.

Technically ~34 hours until Skyman's DQ'd, but let's add on two more hours for a nice number. DQ warning for Skyman.

pitter-patter, pitter-patter, says the rain as it flows endlessly from the chunk of metal hanging from the ceiling. The walls are slick with water sliding into an ever-growing lake, rippling its surface. One of the waves happens to touch a small, metal durian, who eyes it with disdain. Even the previously excited mouse has taken a more solemn tone, worriedly watching the water level rise. Water, water everywhere, and far too much to drink.

Drilbud’s up and ready for some action. Pika’s honestly close to gone, and besides, it’s battling. She’d really almost prefer to fire random barrages of seeds and thorns than to wait for Pika to finish his stupid martial arts defensive pose – oh yes, she saw that crouch he was doing, she wasn’t that dumb – but all she can do is wait and relax. Perhaps that’s just what she needs, as when she rouses herself, she appears much calmer.

Pika lifts himself out of his crouch, wincing as his leg straightens out. Quick as an Accelgor, though, he assumes another defensive pose. He’s much more centered now, with his paws clenched next to his chest and shoulders square. A light blue aura dances across his body, undulating in waves over his chest. The Pichu raises his eyebrows toward Drilbud, offering a challenge.

The Ferroseed hesitates. Her trainer did say – eh, she supposes it doesn’t matter that much. A Seed Bomb is a Seed Bomb, after all. Drilbud spins around, then hurls out a wall of thorns toward Pika. Each explodes in a flash against the gloom just before they strike.

He’s dazed, yes, but not nearly as much as he should be. Perhaps that’s for the worse, though, as he’s not quite feeling so frustrated anymore. He mentally checks again – nope, nothing – then crouches, preparing to spring. Drilbud’s completely unprepared for the frenzy of limbs that follows, yellow fur flying across her eyes. Clawing, biting, punching, kicking, Pika lets out a battle cry.

Despite her varied dents and torn thistles, Drilbud looks pleased. The Pichu has only managed to hurt himself further and brought himself closer to his doom. She explodes yet again, showering Pika with another barrage of seeds and spikes at ever closer range. Instinctively, he throws up his arms to cover his face; when the dust settles, they’re covered in blood and abrasions. The Ferroseed’s looking good as new again, and a nice, silver shell is all that matters for her. Right?

The referee decides never to trust biology ever again and shuts off the rain.
