A heavy gate lifted itself up, allowing two trainers to enter the hexagonal area described by walls of bare bricks. As they entered, a third person, one that had entered previously, closed the gate up, afterwards, allowing a Poké Ball to shoot a red beam of light toward the sky, recalling an Aerodactyl that was flying around there.

Spinning a handle, the Metallica fan closed the iron door again. Afterward, he positioned himself in the arena, and pulled a paper out, giving the battlers a reminder of the rules. Then, he gave them a signal to commence the match.

From the ref's left side, a purple Pokémon with a shape similar to a child's was sent out, seeming eager to fight. His will seemed to fade, however, when his opponent appeared on the arena: a black creature that resembled a small, hooded robe with a skull as a mask. The gaze of her single, scarlet eye made him flinch.

Commands were issued, and the duel was about to begin.

Van Dam shook his head, desperate to not be intimidated. He prepared to follow his orders, his gaze turning red as he looked past his opponent's physique and straight into her energy signature. She felt herself helplessly become completely solid.

It was her turn to unleash light from the eyes. A red beam of light shot from her only eye suddenly, forcing her foe to close his eyes. When he opened them up again, he saw two colorful, disracting masses of radiance.

Completely smitten, the Tyrogue denied his commands, instead chasing after the lights. Up to one point, he leapt for them, landing facefirst on the floor. His enemy watched the scene, chuckling with amusement; then, she focused deeply, summoning Fire-type powers from her essence. She proceeded to spit a line of wispy, purple fireballs. The attack curved its way through the air, nearly missing the target, but nonetheless managing to touch his back, causing a burn.

Though his face hurt and his back felt stung, Van Damn showed an adamant refusal to given in, continuing to chase the glowing things. While running, he tripped, landing on the front of his head again. As he stood up, Theresa had already called upon a different type of hidden power, one that she'd use to envelop him in a multicolored aura.

Now what would be a fun thing to do with a Tyrogue's body? The Duskull instantly thought to move his fist towards the area between his eyes. A punch, right on the face. Since punching is something most (though not all) Fighting-types do particularly well, the attack is quite a sucess.

Van Dam did not desist of capturing the glowing masses, which forced his trainer to shout his commands for that round. One way or the other, both sides gave their orders, and it was up for the Pokémon to follow it.

The Tyrogue seems to have found his trainer's idea viable. After all, he could just surround those lights. And so, he began to speed around them, though they seemed to be right in front of him no matter what. Desperate to achieve what he intended, he ran so fast, his image began to blur, until he was accomapined by four illusory himselves.

However, even in a group, there was no surrounding the radiance.

That was when Theresa seized the opportunity to perform her next move. She began to laugh, ridicularizing the opponents' futile efforts to embrace the shining blobs. Particularly how hard he was trying to chase after something that wasn't even actually there. She proceeded to unleash deeper insults, questioning his sanity.

Angered by this blasphemy, he prepared to get it back at her... But realized he was ordered to use Attract. Against her? Not a chance. He had no intention of wooing that kind of Pokémon. Instead, he leapt to perform some sort of attack, only to miscalculate it and land awkwardly, easily losing his equilibrium and hitting the ground.

Surprisingly or not, the Duskull didn't bother mocking her foe for the spectacular foe. She had done enough taunting, and now, it was time to get down to business. Similar to what had been done before, her single eye shot a red beam of light, one she ensured to see going through every single Van Dam present in the arena. It took no time for the real deal to have his illusions fade.

After lifting himself back to his feet, he finally attacked. With a whirl of his fists, he unleashed a wave of Fighting-type energy, one that took what was probably less than a second to reach the target. And speaking of targets, the attack struck the bullseye, almost entering through one of Theresa's eyeholes. It was fortunate for her that her eye was at the other side when she hit.

She knew she couldn't just leave it at that. Calling upon her Dark-type powers, she enthusiastically swung her arm against the enemy, intending to make it clear that she would not receive this kind of damage without giving a payback. However, the Tyrogue easily deflected the attack by blocking it, afterwards proceeding to brag about how he was used to this kind of outburst.

Just then, Theresa began to feel her semisolidity returning.

The lights no longer had Van Damn's focus that much; rather, his attention was caught by his opponent, and her loose tongue (or lack thereof). This made issuing commands much easier.

Performing them was something else, though. Van Dam stomped the ground, protesting against the orders he was dealt. Foresight? That'd be way too boring. He was intent on leaping for the offensive, regardless of how. And this "leaping" became quite literal once he leap toward the foe, aimlessly throwing an awkward punch that struck her on the head. His landing was also awkward, as he tripped and hit the ground.

Theresa paid the little Struggle no mind, as she had complicated orders to perform next. She summoned hidden Psychic-type powers, letting her mind look into the flow of time. Because she's not specialized in the use of such powers, she could only go a few actions in the future, but that was enough, as she laid her trap for the enemy to step on.

As he stood up, the Tyrogue began to realize that wild offensive tactics would not suffice to harm a foe so difficult to target. He knew he had better begin start using more intelligent stratagems, and the move he was meant to perform next seemed ideal to begin focusing toward that. Looking back, he seemed to suddenly remember noticing a faint glimpse at the enemy's eyes, each time he fell down.

And so, he initiated his next move. Pretending to still be smitten by the Confuse Ray, he let himself trip, crashing down with all the grace he could muster. The act was a visible success, as he had the Duskull giggling and staring at him.

Suddenly, she remembered she was meant to use Psychic. And so she did; however, the idea of having a grip on that captivating little thing seemed too tempting for her to attack properly, instead just playing around with her prey. While this didn't stop him from sustaining damage, he clearly would have suffered more if it wasn't for his foe's distraction.

He prepared to follow his next move, when his burn began to sting mercilessly. Knowing his commands, however, he made no effort to hide his pain. Instead, he let his rage take over, as he leapt and prepared to pummel the responsible for that. However, his pummeling went right through the target, her semisolidity benefitting her. As he was about to land, however, a ball of psychic energy suddenly burst under his feet, launching him through the air to almost hit his head on the wall.

The complete offensive failure, however, endeared Theresa even further. As before, she couldn't just whip him as she should once she had him at her mercy. The fact that she liked to have Van Dam hit thing in a silly way made it so the attack still hurt; however, a proper beating would have proven far more effective.

The trainers did not limit themselves to merely issuing commands; they also both seemed to have words of encouragement for their Pokémon.

The Pokémon once more faced each other; one with a brave glare, other with a casual stare. The former attacked first; as he did previously in this battle, he shot red beams of light from his eyes, which locked the opponent into her solidified form.

Theresa sighed; she didn't really like not being to go through stuff. However, much like her trainer said, she was far ahead in this battle; not only that, she had enjoyed it quite a lot so far. So, with a dive from the air, she crashed against her foe, glomping him in aggressive manner.

Still on the ground, begging for the heavens to get that thing off him, Van Dam prepared to pull his next punch. His hand glew as he summoned an arcane force from beyond the tiles below him. White rays shot from the ground to form a ball above the battlers; from there, it morphed into a beam, then crashed downards, striking the target on the back.

As she was struck, the Duskull opened a distance between her and the enemy, and then, as earlier, used Psychic, not so much with the intention of causing damage, but more with the intention of playing with the hostile.

Afterwards, Van Dam reached for his deepest sealed powers, a flurry of multicolored orbs gathering outside his body. With a thurst of his hand, he activated a mysterious force that shot the spheres toward the opponent, striking her square on the face.

Her counterstrike was the usual playful yet nonetheless damaging Psychic.

The end of the battle was close at hand. With entirely different tones, both trainers ordered the same thing: reckless assaults.

Van Dam pulled a blitzkrieg; he sprinted toward the enemy with whatever energies he could still muster, and swung his arm the best he could, or rather, the best his burn let him. After this surge of sudden movement, though, he left himself wide open to the next Psychic. Not different from the others at all, it followed the usual routine of playful but damage-dealing mind control.

When he stood up once more, the Tyrogue couldn't even see straight anymore; his vision was just a blurry mess. Still, he could recognize a black-and-white mass as his target, towards which he clumsily ran and jabbed once more.

Theresa noticed that it was getting tiresome to keep on using her less than dominant Psychic-type powers. She knew that was going to be the last time, though, and she made it count. Picking up her foe's fist, she made him uppercut himself straight on the jaw, which seemed to be more than enough to finish him.

As his consciousness faded away, he began to realize how it would take a little more than brute force to defeat this sort of enemy. That was definetly something new to include in the training schedule.
