DarkHydra vs Grass King

Byrus

Strange days ahead
Pronoun
he/him
1 vs. 1 single
Style: Set
DQ: 2 Weeks
Damage Cap: 30%
Banned Moves: OHKO, Direct Healing, Weather Moves
Arena: The Rooftop

The battle takes place at the top of a skyscraper, ringed with just a low iron fence. The ground under the pokemon's feet is smooth and paved, and slippery from the previous nights rain, so pokemon have a 20% chance of slipping. Should they fall off the edge, a slightly smaller skyscraper is there to land on, although they'll sustain some damage (Ref's decision). Since the battle is taking place on the top of a skyscraper, the wind is fierce, making it hard for pokemon to move precisely, especially flying pokemon (95% accuracy and evasion for primarily large land-based pokemon, (over 60kg), 90% for medium (Over 30kg), 85% for small (Under 30kg) Flying pokemon are -5% plus their large, medium and small percentage.) If a move such as dig is used, the pokemon drops into the room below them, and take some damage (Ref's decision). The room is an office, with plenty of desks, chairs, and other such items. The ceiling is fairly low, making it harder for flying pokemon to maneouvre, but the wind is no longer present, nor is the slippery surface.

Additional rules: No regard to any abilities, No evolved pokemon (ie: Tyranitar, Blaziken etc)

Okay Sin: Wrath you're up. (And I'm going to shorten your name to Wrath from now on.)

Okay Wrath, you're faster than him, so let's try and keep it that way. AncientPower thrice, unless he protects, in which case use Iron Defence. If he Torments or you can't use AncientPower, then use Brick Break.

AncientPower/Iron Defence/Brick Break ~ AncientPower/Iron Defence/Brick Break ~ AncientPower/Iron Defence/Brick Break

Alright Eclipse, so I think he's faster than you, that's okay, we'll take advantage of that. Start off with Rock Smash, then, if he hits you first, use Payback, or if not, use Howl, then, use Sucker Punch.

Rock Smash ~ Payback/Howl ~ Sucker Punch

High up on top of the skyscraper, the trainers of the Asber league once again finds themselves battling it out in another risky spot. Only a small fence offers any protection from the high drop, and looking over the edge is definitely an intimidating sight, so everyone makes sure to stay firmly in the middle of the wide open space. It's not exactly good weather for flying, so each trainer opted for the elevator to make their way to the top, not exactly quite as impressive as swooping in on an Aerodactyl, but it gets the job done.
The three trainers have made sure to bundle themselves up to protect themselves from the bite of the icy wind, but they still find themselves shivering as the wind whistles by fiercely. The previous night's rain has also added an extra hazard, and everyone has to maneuver carefully to prevent an embarrassing slip up.
When everyone manages to find their footing on the slick surface, the referee shakily signals to begin, and Grass King and DarkHydra each hurl a Pokéball onto the slippery ground. By some miracle, the Pokéballs don't get blown off course, and Wrath the Larvitar and Eclipse the Poochyena both appear in a burst of light.

Both Pokémon immediately begin shivering as they're exposed to the vicious gale, and Wrath in particular looks especially irked. The Larvitar examines his surroundings with a fierce glare, then bows his head again the wind with an irritated snort.
Eclipse also gives the chosen battle spot a quick look, struggling to dig his claws into the ground to get a good grip. The paved ground is too smooth and slippery for that though, and the Poochyena is left swaying nervously with his tail between his legs.

Round one

Wrath is the first to start things off, and the grumpy looking rock type immediately begins to call forth the spirits of ancient Pokémon long past. He lowers his head and mutters a complicated chant, waving his stubby paws about for dramatic effect.
The formerly smooth ground beneath his feet quickly becomes cracked and ragged as chunks of rock tear themselves free, and eerie flames of blue and purple burst into life. Wrath continues to chant as the floating stones rise up and the ghostly fire surrounds them in a blazing aura, while Eclipse backs away nervously. With a sudden shout, Wrath stomps his tiny foot, and the glowing stones go flying towards Eclipse, completely bowling the canine over.
Eclipse gives a yelp of pain as the rocks engulf him, and they crack into multiple pieces upon contact, showering him with shards of granite. The Poochyena winces, and shakes the dust from his fur as he wriggles free of the largest chunks of rock he’s wedged between. He glares at the equally angry looking Larvitar, then charges towards him with a determined bark. He bashes forcefully into Wrath and delivers a surprisingly crushing strike with his front paws, causing a small crack to appear on the Larvitar’s rocky chest.

Wrath’s scowl becomes even more pronounced as he examines the damage on his hide. He begins another frenzied chant, speaking too quickly and furiously for any words to be made out, and the recently disturbed ground begins to crack even further. Eclipse tenses as he sees the familiar signs, and flames of purplish blue burst out from the cracks in the ground as more rocks tear themselves free. The glowing stones engulf Eclipse once again, cracking apart upon contact and showering him with even more sharp and painful rock shards.
Eclipse growls, and his spiky fur bristles out even further as a wispy black aura of dark energy surrounds his small form. Even Wrath falters a bit as he sees the Poochyena furiously bare his oversized fangs and charge at him head-on. The wind relentlessly batters his small form as he runs, further ruffling his spiky coat, but Eclipse charges determinedly on until he reaches his target. He gives a furious snarl as he begins viciously pummelling Wrath with all he’s got; biting down and lashing out with his paws as the inky aura around him flares up wildly. When he finally backs away, Eclipse is panting from the effort the attack took, but he’s pleased to see the ill-tempered Larvitar looks very shaken up from his sudden viciousness.

Wrath groans as he tries to regain his bearings, and he painfully picks himself up again, wincing at the further damage done to his rocky hide. It doesn’t take long for him to regain his scowl however, and he quickly begins another furious chant as he prepares to pummel that insolent mutt with more rocks.
Unbeknownst to him however, Eclipse has been preparing this time; he’s crouched down and ready to strike. As soon as he sees Wrath begin his familiar routine, he darts forward with a sudden burst of speed, his form engulfed in wispy strands of purplish black energy. Wrath gives a startled cry as Eclipse abruptly barrels into him and knocks him off his feet. Eclipse can't suppress a grin when he sees Wrath writhes around on the ground, struggling to ignore the pain and pick up where he left off.
Looking somewhat flustered, Wrath starts his chant from the beginning, having lost his place, and the stationary rocks spring to life once again. The eerie flames flare up as the spirits respond to his chant, and Eclipse's grin fades as he's pelted with more rocks.
As the somewhat battered looking Poochyena shoves the shattered stones out of his way, he grumpily gives himself another shake. He's getting seriously tired of floating rocks, but at least he's in better shape than his perpetually angry opponent.

Battle notes

- Rock smash lowered Wrath's defense, none of Wrath's APs raised his stats however.
- Oh yeah, I forgot to ask: what effect does slipping have exactly? Does it completely disrupt the attack or only lower its effects somewhat? I'm only applying the slipping chance for attacks that require movement, since that makes the most sense, so Eclipse lucked out this round.
- DarkHydra attacks first.

OOC: Slipping disrupts attacks and makes them fall over the edge if they're near it.

IC: Alright Eclipse, so, he'll probably expect our sneaky stuff now, so we'll have to mix it up a bit. So, we'll start with Shadow Ball, or if he uses Ancientpower, use Taunt. Then, use Crunch, or if he uses Iron Defense, use Howl. Finally, use Payback again if he attacks you, or, if he doesn't, use Howl.

Round two

Wrath holds up his paws, and particles of light begin to fall from the sky to form a glowing ball of light. He carefully balances the swirling orb, and when the stream of light stops, he flings it towards Eclipse with a frustrated growl.
Eclipse yelps as the beam of light blasts him with surprising force, and he’s sent staggering backwards on the slick ground. With a growl, he opens his jaws, exposing his oversized fangs, and a ragged orb of ghostly energy rapidly begins to form. Eclipse spits the shadow ball out with a muffled snarl, and it veers erratically through the air as it heads towards Wrath. He gives a cry of pain as the ethereal energy slams into him and burns into his skin. He takes a moment to check for any lingering marks from the attack, but there are no new marks on his dented hide.

Wrath gives another snarl as he turns his attention back to Eclipse, and sets about repeating his earlier effort. He holds out his stubby paws, and begins to draw power from his surroundings once again. Another bright beam of white light begins to form in front of him, which slowly grows in power as even more specks of light are drawn to it. He flings it at Eclipse with even more viciousness than before, and it blasts into him head-on.
Eclipse is knocked back again, much to his displeasure, but he manages to recover a little quicker this time, and jumps back to his feet. His spiky coat is even more ruffled and ragged than before, but he is able to ignore the sting of his injuries for now and concentrate on keeping his offense going.
The Poochyena begins to snarl even more viciously than before, and inky black dark energy drips from his jaws like saliva. He lets out a loud bark and charges toward Wrath, barely managing to keep his balance on the slippery surface. He stumbles slightly as he tries to avoid the jagged cracks and chunks of earth jutting up, then leaps on Wrath and sinks his dripping fangs into his rocky hide.
Wrath cries out in pain, and his angry glare is quickly replaced by a fearful and wide-eyed expression of shock. Eclipse clings tenaciously to his foe even as he struggles to dislodge him, and he digs in his hold as much as he can before he is finally forced to let go.

Wrath gives a strangled sounding yelp and clumsily backs away, nearly slipping several times in the process. He glances fearfully at the Poochyena, before he manages to regain his composure and resume his grumpy glare. He takes a moment to gingerly inspect the damage, and barely manages to suppress his fear when he sees the deep, jagged marks on his chest.
He winces a little and glares over the Poochyena, who has a smug, toothy grin on his face. The look is enough to replace Wrath's fright with good old fashioned anger again, and the Larvitar gives a guttural snarl as he prepares to amp himself up further.
Eclipse's grin fades as he sees Wrath begin to close his eyes and focus. He crouches down and cautiously pads a little closer to his foe, trying to figure out what he's up to now. Wrath's small form suddenly begins to shine with a fiery aura of fighting energy, and he lets out a furious roar to the sky as his aura flares up wildly. YES. He is more than ready now to take down that irritating mutt. There is no way he should be causing him so much trouble anyway.
Eclipse looks on as Wrath gives a few enthusiastic fist pumps, then shrugs and decides to do some ego boosting of his own. He takes a deep breath, then lets loose a long, eerie howl that is surprisingly loud for such a small creature. The noise is nothing but static to Wrath though, he's busy jumping about and punching the air, now more determined than ever to turn the tide of the battle back in his favour.

Round three

Wrath’s head shimmers as a coating of steel begins to cover it, then he charges forward with a determined roar. His bravado is somewhat ruined by his slipping and sliding on the slick surface a few times, but he manages to regain his balance and find his target. He bashes into Eclipse viciously, sending him skidding across the ground with a pained yelp.
Eclipse slowly gets to his feet again, and despite his confidence boost from the howl, he looks visibly shaken. The Larvitar managed to headbutt him right in the gut, and it really took the breath out of him. Wincing and whimpering, Eclipse struggles forward on legs that feel like jelly as he tries to pick up speed without slipping off. One measly clone forms in his wake, trailing along beside its creator, who looks at it in disappointment.

Wrath takes a moment to stare at the two Poochyenas, snickering a little at the shocked expressions still on their faces. He lowers his head again and charges towards the nearest one. The Poochyena he strikes lets loose a yowl of pain as he crashes into him, and Eclipse’s illusion distorts and fades away. The Larvitar's strike proves to be extra vicious too; Eclipse is sent flying further than before, and he collides painfully with the iron fence.
Eclipse gives a pained groan and picks himself up again with agonizing slowness, his yellow eyes trained on his opponent. His gaze makes the enthusiastic Larvitar slightly uneasy, and he gives a cry of surprise as a blackened aura flares up around the Poochyena’s small form.
Wrath grits his teeth and tries to brace himself as Eclipse leaps towards him with a furious howl, the aura of dark energy blazing around him like a shadowy bonfire. He collides with Wrath and rips at him with his fangs while he batters him relentlessly with his paws. Some of his strikes hit the already damaged spot on Wrath’s hide, and the Larvitar struggles to defend his weak spot as Eclipse continues his assault.
When Eclipse backs off, the Poochyena seems to have regained some of his lost confidence, and gives a toothy grin as he sees Wrath frantically examining the damage. That'll take him down a notch or two.

Wrath gives an irritated growl as he limps forward, trying to dismiss the setback. His head shimmers with a steely glint as he charges forward for a third time, letting loose another furious roar. He bashes into Eclipse again with his steel coated skull, catching him in the chest.
Eclipse can only manage a muffled sounding woof this time as he's sent skidding across the wet ground. Nevertheless, it gives Wrath a sense of satisfaction to knock Eclipse off his feet.
....that is is until he notices the all too familiar shadowy aura blazing into life around Eclipse's form. Before he can react, Eclipse has pounced on him again, battering at him with his paws and tearing into his skin with his fangs.
When both Pokémon back away from each other, they're both breathing heavily and nursing their wounds. Eclipse stretches out his limbs as he looks at the multiple dents and cracks in Wrath's rocky hide. The Larvitar is glaring daggers at him as he angrily gives a couple of stomps on the ground. Eclipse returns his glare and steps forward again with a low growl to show he's not about to back down either.

Battle notes

- Oh, I forgot Wrath was holding a lucky egg. Obviously it won't make an impact on the battle, but I added it in so I don't forget about it when I'm dealing with the experience points.
- Hrmm, no slip ups yet.
- The first iron head caused a flinch. It disrupted Eclipse's move, so he only succeeded in making one clone.
- Second iron head was a critical hit.

Round four

Eclipse readies himself and crouches down, eyeing his opponent carefully. Wrath just continues glaring, but makes no move to attack. Instead, he crouches down and closes his eyes, still maintaining his disgruntled expression, and his body begins to shine with a steely glint. Eclipse shifts around uncertainly as he waits for his opportunity, but it looks like Wrath is playing it defensive for now, and the Poochyena slumps down in disappointment. He watches on as Wrath’s rocky coat gains a new layer of steel coating that covers up all the cracks and dents in fresh new armour. With that done, Wrath opens his eyes and straightens himself up, a brief flicker of smile crossing his face as he sees his shiny new hide.

Eclipse gives a low growl and tenses up, trying to regain his determination. Wrath is looking irked again, and he appears to be scraping pointlessly at the slick paving while his eyes dart around the surrounding area. He's looking for some mud to toss into Eclipse's eyes, but the vacant paved ground isn't providing much to work with. Eclipse tilts his head in puzzlement at his opponent’s frantic searching, but he remains cautious, ready to generate a protective shield if necessary. He quickly grows tired of waiting however, and since Wrath isn't showing any signs of attacking, he decides to take the initiative.
Eclipse races forward, his fangs dripping with inky black energy as he opens his jaws. He snarls at the Larvitar and prepares to pounce, but gives a yelp of surprise as he suddenly loses his footing on the wet ground. He scrambles around frantically as he tries to regain his balance, but ends up falling flat on his face with a muffled woof.

Wrath gives a sigh of relief at his opponent's slip up, but he's left with much to same problem that he had before. The grumpy Larvitar sullenly kicks at the dents in the ground, trying to draw up some dirt, but to no avail. Gritting his teeth, he glances up at his opponent, who is gingerly getting back to his feet. His fur is now damp and even more messy than before, and the Poochyena is struggling to hide his embarrassment.
Eclipse winces a little and stretches out his legs, then takes a few careful and hesitant steps forward again. Maybe he was being a little overzealous there... a little more caution is obviously required. He slowly slinks forward, then starts snarling again, his jaws dripping with the familiar pitch black strands of dark energy. Wrath scowls and tries to brace himself as Eclipse rushes forward again, hoping that the stupid mutt will land on his face again.
Unfortunately for Wrath, Eclipse manages to keep his balance, and he sinks his dripping teeth into the Larvitar's armoured hide. Wrath gives a roar of pain and thrashes about as Eclipse tenaciously digs his fangs, trying to do as much damage as he can before he loses his grip.
When Wrath does manage to throw him off, Eclipse is sent skidding across the wet ground, still snapping and snarling. Wrath slumps onto the ground, breathing heavily and clutching the newly inflicted bite wound. He's in a lot of pain, and even the stubborn Larvitar is getting anxious now, which doesn't go unnoticed by Eclipse. The Poochyena slinks forward, keeping his eyes trained on the struggling Wrath, and resolving not to slip up at an opportune moment.

Round five

Eclipse surveys his weakened opponent carefully, then reluctantly takes a defensive stance. He takes a step back, and a shimmering green shield forms a protective dome around him. Wrath glowers over at him and wishes he could just charge ahead and attack, but he realises it would be useless given the protect shield.
Instead, he crouches down, and another layer of shining steel rapidly forms around his hide, reinforcing the thin layer of armour already there.
Eclipse observes from behind his barrier, growing more impatient by the second. Looking disappointed that his shield went to waste, Eclipse lets his taxing barrier fade away, and he bares his over-sized fangs at Wrath.

Eclipse growls threateningly at his opponent, but Wrath doesn’t flinch away, and just glowers back at him. Eclipse lowers his head and begins to think of the most vindictive and spiteful thoughts he can imagine, and then concentrates them into a tangible force. Inky black tendrils of dark energy begin to form around his body, causing Wrath to take a few uncertain steps back.

Eclipse suddenly lifts his head and gives a loud bark that has a strange, eerie timbre to it, and a wave of dark energy rushes towards Wrath. The rock type’s newly improved armour is unable to offer him any protection from this rush of negative thoughts, and Wrath gives a screech of pain as completely engulfs him in darkness. The pitch black streamers of energy burn painfully into his steely hide, easily slipping past his defence to scald his skin.

When the last of the darkness slowly fades away, Wrath is left lying in an undignified heap, growling in pain. He slowly but surely manages to stand up again, but appears to be just barely clinging to consciousness.
Eclipse allows himself to relax a little when he sees his opponent's state, but his ears quickly perk up again as Wrath suddenly gives a loud roar. The Larvitar summons up the last of his strength, determined to get some revenge on the Poochyena who has given him so much trouble. A brown aura of fighting energy flares up around his small form, engulfing him in a fiery glow. He then charges forward, slipping around a little on the wet ground, and bashes into Eclipse with all the force he can muster. Eclipse gives a howl of pain as Wrath begins to lash out viciously with his fists and feet, adding in a few nasty headbutts for good measure.

When the fiery aura dies away, Wrath slumps down again, breathing heavily from the effort of the attack. Eclipse is left whimpering on the ground, looking badly battered and shocked. As Wrath kneels over and struggles to catch his breath, Eclipse shakily begins to pull himself upright again. He can't help but wince at the pain of his new wounds, and he's still in shock about the sudden viciousness of Wrath's attack.

However, he's so close to victory right now, and that thought alone helps him to pull himself together. He closes his eyes, and begins thinking of the nasty, hateful thoughts, which is even easier now after what happened. The shimmering black aura surrounds him again, shrouding his small form in shadow. Wrath is too tired to look up and notice the danger, and by the time the black wave of energy rushes out, it's too late for him to avoid it. Wrath gives a startled cry of pain and kneels over, engulfed in shadows. When the darkness fades away, Wrath is obviously out for the count this time.

End of round five

Grass King curses his luck and swiftly returns the moody Larvitar to his Pokéball, while DarkHydra praises Eclipse on such a successful first match. The Poochyena gives a few happy barks and runs about the rooftop, coming precariously close to slipping up again several times. Wincing, DarkHydra hastily returns him to his Pokéball for his own safety, wondering how he can still summon up the energy to do that after such a taxing battle.
As the referee hands the trainers their prizes, everyone is left wondering whether they should risk flying down or just ignore the "OUT OF ORDER" sign that just randomly appeared on the elevator...

Darkhydra gets $8, Grass King gets $3 and I get $5.

Eclipse: 2 exp
Wrath: 1 exp (apparently the doubled exp from lucky egg only counts for KOs, eh.)

Good match guys. I forgot how quickly 1 vs 1 fights go over though!
